Gockerlwirt & PilgerPension in Altötting

Went to the restaurant today with a small elementary school class and a few parents with advance reservations. The children were sweet and waited patiently for the food. Since the garden was relatively full, the waiting time was a little longer. Afterwards we were informed that we were no longer allowed to come because the children would only eat children's portions and individual billing and small portions would not be profitable enough. The total bill on our tables was over €300… and that in 1.5 hours…

I've experienced a lot in the catering industry, but the four of us decorating the restaurant while we're eating is something I've never experienced before!!! The fried chicken was very good, but next time please serve the fried potatoes with the main course. The conditions were top.

We used to love going there. The last visit was a disappointment. I had to request new salad bowls because the dirt was still stuck in them. The meal took a long time and the chicken I got looked like it had been sitting in the warm oven for at least 10 hours. The order arrived halfway and had to be made later because fries and sauces were forgotten. Meanwhile, German rap was screaming at you through the speakers at a loud volume 🤦🏼‍♀️ When we wanted to pay we had to wait an eternity because the waiter was still chatting, we were all already standing in the room and my husband went to smoke because it took so long. We're definitely not coming back.

Friendly little cheap guesthouse. The staff is very friendly, the food is good, the beds are tip top. What more do I want? It doesn't bother me if I don't have a toilet in the room and the shower isn't exactly modern! Very close to the pilgrimage site.

We were just passing through for a drink in the beautiful beer garden. We were served quickly, attentively and friendly.

So I really don't know what to say. The rooms are like they come from a farm museum, cleaned (haha not). There are also communal showers and communal hot tubs. The hallways are dark and scary. The demon hunters and the Pope also visit you at night. (No matter where in this hotel, there are crosses hanging everywhere. You think you're in a monastery). Then we were downstairs in the restaurant. It was horrible. 2 burgers, the patties were 60% raw. No understanding from the service (so moderate: I'll tell the kitchen). No liquor or anything like that to compensate. No recommendation, regardless of whether it is a room or a restaurant.

4 rooms booked and already paid for. 4 days before the Bauma Messe in Munich, they wrote me the following message: "Dear Mr. Zanni, I should ask you to cancel the triple rooms because I don't have them available, your reservation overlapped with a telephone reservation." I'll just let you imagine the series of insults and what it could mean on an organizational level, considering that finding other available rooms was almost impossible, in addition to the time I had to dedicate to the issue. Everyone pay close attention to how lightly they handle their craft.

Very good location and a nice beer garden in the heart of Altötting. The food there is always good and inexpensive. Is my daughter's favorite restaurant. The waitresses are always friendly and accommodating.

For us, a stay in the beautiful pilgrimage town of Altötting always includes a visit to the Gockerlwirt. The grilled chicken with fries is always perfect, and the beer and wine spritzer are also delicious. It's especially delicious when the friendly waitress Hanni serves everything with Bavarian charm 😊

As always, when I'm in Altötting, I really enjoy stopping at the Gockerlwirt. And as always, it is a culinary experience, especially for a chicken gourmet like me. Greatly prepared grilled chicken, a very fresh beer and the dishes are served in the friendliest way by the waitress Hanni. Only recommended!

Wie immer, wenn ich in Altötting bin, kehre ich sehr gerne beim Gockerlwirt ein. Und wie immer ist es ein kulinarisches Erlebnis, allzumal für einen Hendl-Gourmet wie mich. Großartig zubereitete Grillhühner, ein sehr frisches Bier und mit der Kellnerin Hanni werden die Gerichte dann auch noch auf das Freundlichste serviert. Nur zu empfehlen!

Very friendly staff, great food. Fair price. I'd definitely go back. Homemade potato salad, amazing pancake soup. Amazing homemade cordon bleu, amazing Madagascar sauce. Everything was perfect! Highly recommended.

Great chicken, always fresh and good! That's why it's always busy whenever I go out to eat there or get something to take away!

Unfortunately I can only give 1 star... Waitress is nice, we were actually served quickly and the food came very quickly, for that the 1st star. But the food was not tasty, very salty and not fresh. Unfortunately, under these circumstances I won't come again and won't recommend it, especially since it wasn't the first time.

Mein Besuch im Gockerlwirt in Altötting war eine absolute Katastrophe. Schon beim Betreten schlug mir ein ekelhafter Gestank entgegen – eine Mischung aus altem Fett, abgestandener Luft und mangelnder Hygiene. Es war so unangenehm, dass ich am liebsten direkt wieder gegangen wäre. Doch der wahre Tiefpunkt kam beim Bezahlen. Ich wollte ganz normal mit American Express zahlen – was in einem Restaurant heutzutage eigentlich kein Problem sein sollte. Doch stattdessen wurde ich vom Wirt mehr als unverschämt behandelt. Er hielt mir einen abfälligen Vortrag darüber, dass „Amex in Deutschland dumm sei“ und dass „Leute mit dieser Karte nur denken, sie wären etwas Besseres“. So ein Verhalten ist einfach nur respektlos! Und als wäre das nicht schon schlimm genug, setzte er noch einen drauf: Ich wurde wie ein Schuljunge nach Hause geschickt, um Geld zu holen! Er gab mir exakt 10 Minuten Zeit, als wäre ich irgendein säumiger Schuldner, der sich vor der Zahlung drücken will. Dabei war das nicht mal mein Fehler! Es ist nicht meine Schuld, wenn ein Restaurant keine gängige Zahlungsmethode akzeptiert – und schon gar nicht rechtfertigt das diese herablassende Behandlung. Ein derart respektloses Verhalten ist einfach untragbar. Wer sich nicht mit einem unverschämten Wirt, widerlichem Gestank und schlechtem Service rumschlagen will, sollte diesen Laden unbedingt meiden! Nie wieder!

I ordered food from the fast food restaurant and paid right away. The lady then cleaned, just cleaned for a while, and then left for at least 10 minutes. She came back with the same gloves she was wearing while cleaning, picked up the burger bun, put it in the warmer, and continued cleaning... Then she left for a while. When she came back, she still had the gloves she had been cleaning with on. She took out the bun and started putting toppings on it... I then said, "YOU'RE TOUCHING THE FOOD WITH THOSE GLOVES WHERE IT WAS JUST BEFORE IN THE CLEANING WATER, I'LL TAKE THAT NOW." She had to redo it. Then she was gone again for a while. She came back with a bag of fries, and then the burger was ready. I left. After 2 minutes, I arrived at my friend's house, unwrapped it, and the fries were cardboard and tasted like they had been made three days before... I threw away the Bürger after the first bite because it tasted like cleaning products... I will never buy food from a street vendor there again... I can only advise against it. I can't say anything about the hotel, but the food in the main restaurant is good and the staff is friendly.

I thought for a long time whether I should write something. We are also hotel and guesthouse owners and know how difficult it is to do justice to everything. But things are going completely wrong here. We booked room 10, confirmed it by email and also received confirmation by phone. We got a three bed room all separated. When asked, the room would be no different. Got the first breakfast refunded. Rooms are only superficially cleaned, the TV is so dirty that the dirt falls down and only comes on if you find the 2 mm button. We didn't even unpack our things in the closet, that's fair to say. On top there is a handkerchief and the broken smoke detector. Everything under the bedside table is full of cobwebs. Our room was also not cleaned during our stay. The next morning we paid €39 for breakfast!!!! 2x 10€ plus 2x cups of coffee at €4.50 and probably the 2 cups from the day before. It only comes to €38 but whatever. Buffet? doesn't exist. On the third day there wasn't even any orange juice or pretzels. We said we were leaving early the next day and wanted to have breakfast early. No one was there except the cleaning lady! Breakfast was served after 8:30 a.m. Honestly, nice surroundings but with them outnumbered, no thanks.

Wir waren zum Mittagessen zu Viert im Lokal und über die Qualität des Essens entsetzt. Der Backhendlsalat bestand aus Fertigsalaten aus dem Eimer, der Blattsalat war als Dekosträußchen obenauf. Ansonsten nur Kraut-, Gurken- und Karottensalat. Vom steirischen Kernöl war nichts zu schmecken. Auch das Cordonbleu war nicht selbstgemacht, sehr enttäuschend. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich aber nicht bemüht. Auf unsere Nachfrage nach Essig/Öl hätten wir mit unserem Teller zum Salatbuffett wandern müssen. Ohne Worte. Nicht zu empfehlen!

Nice inn, very friendly staff, good food.

The restaurant itself is very cozy. It is centrally located and the view is breathtaking. The staff is very kind and friendly, an incredibly hospitable bunch. Fast service, tasty and well-presented food, in the right amount.

The Gockerlwirt is now always our point of contact after visiting the market. Despite the full house and large crowds, we (six adults + baby in a stroller) were assigned the vacant space. Service very friendly, food served after 15 minutes. There for everyone and very good. We also always feel comfortable in the beer garden. Can't understand the bad feedback.

We stayed here for one night for a running event. The location in town is perfect, you are basically in the center of town. The room we had was very old. The beds are ok. Shower and toilet are outside the room. Reception worked well. The guesthouse can be recommended for a short trip.

We had an excellent lunch here! The potato salad was homemade and very good. The remoulade for the fried fish was also homemade and tasted great. The price tends to be rather cheap and the quality/portions are also good. We would love to come back, thank you very much

There were three of us there in the evening. We found it a shame that alternative options (for example, instead of fries, potato salad) are not included at the Gockel. Some of my dish was cold, some hot... Service was okay.

Great burgers...good food but unfortunately completely unacceptable opening hours for street sales. Service in the restaurant is often very unfriendly...with normal opening times and friendly service it would be five stars.

The one star only applies to the cleanliness of the room. Thank God I only have to spend one night here. I am staying in the deluxe room (has its own toilet). The beds are from 1960, squeak with every movement, the plaster is crumbling from the walls and the ceiling light is constantly on because part of the room apparently once belonged to the hallway and of course the electricity distribution had not been adjusted... The lady who welcomed me was also very taciturn and not unfriendly. Everything would be okay for €30, but not for the €82 per night. Never again! Edit: after a while in the room I noticed that the restaurant's exhaust air is below my room and that it smells greasy and musty. This matches the smell of the bed linen. Underground!

Simple rooms designed for pelgrims, good locations for church visitation. Atmospher like 100 years ago , a spiritual place.

We ate weißwurst and Brezel. Funny idea to get the sausage in a pot with boiling water. The pretzel was freshly baked. Everything delicious

Unfortunately, you no longer get what you ordered. Ordered 2 or 6 pieces of Chix (they were really tasty chicken pieces) and got chicken nuggets that tasted below average. You could have eaten cheaper and better at the fast food chain with the M! That's really cheeky and it was (unfortunately) the last time we ate here

Pepper cream schnitzel with fries very small portion for 14.90€ Small side salad (only ready-made salads) for €5.50 Unfortunately the quality is no longer what it used to be. We will definitely not visit Gockerlwirt again

What a bad booking on our part, the one star is only for the cleanliness of the room. The entire complex looked as if it had once been a monastery, and as a North German it was hard to understand why there were crosses hanging everywhere. Our room had its own toilet/shower, the sink was in the room. The two single beds (too short for me, the mattresses were saggy) probably date back to the 18th century. I've never slept so badly in a hotel. The curtain only partially closed the window because it wasn't wide enough. Breakfast was not offered. The entire hotel is very old and we will not visit it again.

Great beer garden, nice service

Wonderful Bavarian restaurant with great food and very good service. Very nicely decorated. Mainly chicken-related dishes are offered, which is of course already suggested by the name of the restaurant. Very diverse offerings and short serving times by the friendly staff make your stay very pleasant. We've been there several times now and it's always a nice experience. We ate very well.

The guesthouse is very old. It was only an overnight stay on a business trip, but sanitary facilities from the 80s at the other end of the floor, worn-out mattresses and worn furniture were nothing that would invite a repeat. The rooms are very noisy, so you can still hear a lot from the neighbors even late in the evening... The location in the center and the view of the church are positive. A pity....

Das hätte es früher bei Herrn Buchheim nie gegeben. Das "neue" Personal absolut unfreundlich. Jung heißt nicht gut,geschweige den freundlich. Da sollte sich mal der Chef überlegen ob die "alten" Besen nicht um einiges besser kehren! Lokal auch lieblos eingerichtet.

Actually no star. Service was very unfriendly, even though there was nothing going on. We left the restaurant before ordering after the menu was handed to us. Apparently they don't need it. The competition was much nicer.

We had dinner with my grandparents at the Gockerlwirt. My grandparents have been visiting this restaurant for years and have always been satisfied - unfortunately not this time. Of the four main courses we ordered, three were absolutely not edible. The "garlic sauce" over the half chicken was pure fat dumped over the meat so the chicken was swimming in fat/butter. The asparagus was very overcooked and tasted like it had been floating in water for a few days before it ended up on our plates. The sausage salad was made with a kind of hunting sausage, which also smelled quite old, which is why the entire portion was returned. We can definitely not recommend the restaurant!

I've been going to the Gockerlwirt for years to eat in the restaurant or in the beer garden. It's always good and the staff is friendly. But you can really forget about street sales, either there are the wrong sauces in the burger or none, or something was forgotten, etc. The staff is sometimes very unfriendly and this Saturday afternoon I wanted to quickly take something with me after work and so I went to the street sales So good after about 10 minutes of waiting I went into the restaurant and asked if no one was there, they said she would be right back after 5 minutes and then she showed up and walked past twice without noticing me when I asked her when Finally able to order something, she said it would take a while and she would be there soon. Another 5 minutes later I left, they won't see me again any time soon! I would understand it if there had been a lot going on, but there were 3 people drinking coffee in the restaurant and the street sales people preferred to make phone calls rather than serve people! You can now forget about the restaurant or the beer gate, the prices have become expensive and the food is worse. Was there recently and the food was cold and so on. We weren't the only table who returned the cold food. It might be okay for travelers or vacationers who come once and then no longer, but it's a bit of a shame for locals to go out to eat and you can now totally forget about it!

Altötting ist natürlich immer eine Reise wert. Gleich neben dem faszinierendem Kapellplatz, DEM religiösen Highlight in diesem größten Pilgerort auf deutschem Boden, ist für mich der „Gockerlwirt“ auch so etwas wie eine „kulinarische Pilgerstätte“. Leib und Seele gehören für Katholiken immer zusammen ; ) Nicht nur ein Hendl-Liebhaber wie ich wird auf der Speisenkarte sein Gericht finden, das dann auch gekonnt zubereitet bayerisch-sympathisch serviert wird. Vergelt‘s Gott!

We went to the restaurant for dinner and had the roast pork. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was cozy.

Unfortunately, I visited the restaurant on a Sunday before vacation. The room was therefore already half cordoned off, which made it a bit uncomfortable. The interior is dated but clean. The food came quickly, was good and filling but it wasn't anything fancy either. There were no more desserts as advertised because they wanted to go on vacation and didn't have anything left in stock. Alternatively, I ordered a cappuccino. It was brought and at that moment the sugar was taken from the table. (???) I had the feeling that they were already cleaning up. All in all, it seemed like a sacking and very uncomfortable!

Good, walking distance to the old town with the many historical sights. Friendly atmosphere in the dining rooms. Very friendly, attentive service. Delicious food (soups and chicken chicks).

According to the website, street sales are open until 9 p.m. You will then be told on the phone that it closes at 3 p.m. The owner is aware that the wrong time is on the website. The joke in all of this is that there is no to-go in the restaurant. We wanted to order for 7 people. Not offering takeaway food these days really leaves me speechless. Even more so, that we know that false information can be found on the Internet and that it doesn't change when the majority gets information from the Internet.

Über die Pension kann ich nichts sagen, haben ausschließlich das Gasthaus besucht. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und das Essen kam schnell. Die halben Hähnchen waren saftig und wirklich sehr lecker!

Wir waren nicht im Hotel, sondern im Restaurant. Der Gockerlwirt liegt ideal in der Nähe des Kapellplatzes. Wir haben Wiener Backhendl bestellt. Die standen zwar nicht auf der Karte, aber wenn nicht viel los ist, macht die Küche diese trotzdem. Eine sehr leckere Spezialität, die ich immer wieder gerne beim Gockerlwirt esse. Die Bedienung ist überaus freundlich und das Lokal ist nett eingerichtet.

Gemütliches Ambiente, Service und Essen war hervorragend und empfehlenswert. Wir mussten auch gar nicht lange aufs Essen warten, obwohl es ziemlich voll war

Sehr lecker gegessen und günstig war es auch. Sehr gut besuchtes Lokal und trotzdem keine lange Wartezeit.

Kann leider nur 2 Sterne vergeben... Kellnerin ist nett, wurden flott bedient und essen kam auch sehr schnell, dafür gabs es auch ein kleines Trinkgeld. Aber das Essen war nicht schmackhaft und nicht frisch. Werde leider nicht mehr kommen und nicht weiter empfehlen. Tut mir leid!

Bewertung betrifft das Restaurant. Bedienung freundlich, Portion definitiv sattmachend. In Summe 1 Stern Abzug für: Bohnen aus der Dose, die eingelegten Tomaten und die rote Beete im Buffet. Wenn man das durch frische Zutaten oder auch lecker Ei ersetzen würde, wäre das eine Aufwertung. Das halbe Hähnchen war lecker, leider teils etwas trocken.. Preis Leistung top.

Ansprechende Speisekarte mit genügend Auswahl, Essen ebenfalls ausreichend und geschmacklich in Ordnung. Für meine Begriffe : Gute bürgerliche Küche, Personal freundlich, flink und aufmerksam.

Der Straßenverkauf schließt unter der Woche um 15 Uhr! Also Abends kann man sich kein Essen holen! Man geht ins Restaurant und fragt, ob man auch etwas mitnehmen darf und der nicht gut deutsch sprechende Kellner sagt "nein'! 4 Gäste im Restaurant! Durch den super Standort und das vielleicht gute Geschäft unter Tags durch viele Wahlfahrer hat man es anscheinend nicht nötig Abends durch"Gassenverkauf" Geld zu verdienen. Einmal probiert und NIE MEHR WIEDER! im Restaurant kann man Essen aber bestellen und mitnehmen kann man nicht. Hochmut kommt vor dem Fall!

Der Hauptplatz mit den ganzen Kirchen und Klöstern ist in unmittelbarer Nähe zum Restaurant und somit von dort aus sehr gut in ein paar Minuten zu Fuß zu erreichen. Wir waren nicht übernacht sondern nur im Restaurant somit kann ich zu den Zimmern usw. leider nichts sagen.

Nicht empfehlenswert. Das Essen ist absolut geschmacksneutral, die Bedienung im Straßenverkauf unfreundlich. Nicht mal warm war es. Selten so schlecht gegessen

Trotz full house,freundliche und perfekte Bedienung.Qualität des Essen auch hervorragend,könnte sogar ein bisschen weniger sein.

Heute als Einzelperson ziemlich barsch abgewiesen worden, obwohl freie Tische, weil man mit dem Andrang von Leuten nicht fertig werde. Wohl eher zugunsten ganzer Pilgergruppen geopfert.

Schöner Biergarten und der Service ist mehr als herausragend. Total liebe und freundliche Bedienung! Aber die Preise finde ich mittlerweile "ausgschamd" für die Größe der Portionen.

Wir haben nur Mittagsessen eingenommen, aber einfach 1a ! Kann es nur herzlich empfehlen!! Service einzigartig! Einfach ausprobieren, viel Freude und Genuß !!
