The restaurant is undeniably charming, thanks to its church-like setting. The interior is beautifully detailed and high-quality, with everything from the chairs to the cutlery being exquisitely chosen and stylish. The service staff is always very polite and attentive. The menu offers a selection of high-quality and unique dishes and drinks. We were impressed by the amuse-bouche; the homemade bread tastes fantastic and arrives at the table beautifully presented. The dips are homemade and perfectly complement the bread. I've dined here on several dishes and have never been disappointed. The ingredients are always top-notch and perfectly prepared. The food not only tastes amazing but is also always spectacularly presented. We're talking about fine dining here, so the prices are naturally a bit higher than at the fast-food joint around the corner. But the restaurant is by no means overpriced and is worth every single penny. We love coming here because it's always a special occasion, and the delicious food and drinks provide the perfect ending to the evening. By the way, there are also some fantastic and unique dishes for vegans. See for yourselves! 🥰

In such an environment - the flavors are great

The church's high ceilings were used to perfection, creating a wonderful ambiance—especially when the sun streamed through the mosaic windows of the former altar bay. The dishes all looked fantastic, and the entire extended family was delighted.

It's amazing where we've ended up gastronomically. A large room with tables next to each other and the charm of a cafeteria is a hit because it used to be a church... you might like it, but you have to deal with the chatter from all directions. The prices are also steep: a schnitzel with three forks each of potato and cucumber salad for 30 (thirty!) euros. A soup for 10. Come on... I tried it and wasn't particularly impressed. I'm not so simple that I'd be charmed by a building; it's just stones, people. Forty years ago, I dined in an old converted swimming pool in Hamburg; the tiles and fixtures were still on the wall. THAT was extraordinary.

I would have imagined it to be so loud, cramped and crowded there.

Steak vs. vegan pot roast: in the end, we were impressed by both. The meat was of excellent quality (the steak could have had a bit more side dishes, hence a ministerial deduction), and the vegan pot roast was also more than convincing. The service was excellent, the location speaks for itself, and we were completely thrilled. A definite recommendation!

The food was truly awful. I can't think of anything better. We celebrated a company anniversary there yesterday and were really looking forward to it, but we were completely disappointed. Positive: The ambiance, from the location to the music and lighting, was great. The service was decent. But that's where it ends. The drinks weren't great, and the food was the last straw. Inedible. We each had an appetizer, main course, and dessert. Everything was a complete disappointment, especially considering the price. Definitely not worth recommending.

A visit to "Glück und Seligkeit" is highly recommended. The quality of the food on offer ranges from average to good. The prices are comparatively high, but the exceptional ambiance definitely makes up for it. The location itself is super chic, offering a mix of modernity and the old church charm, paired with cozy ambient lighting. (Depending on the time of day.) One star deducted due to the significantly high prices.

The place pretends to be fancy and haute cuisine, but doesn't come anywhere close to meeting the expectations raised by its ambiance and prices. Service is slow and grumpy. Criticism is inappropriately addressed. The beef fillet is as tough as a shoe sole. Coleslaw tastes better from the refrigerated section. The duck is inedible and slimy. The white wine is too warm. The pasta is overcooked and garnished with a bland sauce that would have felt more at home on a hamburger. My tip: Shorten the menu and focus on simple dishes so that the desired price level matches the quality.

Overpriced, tasteless, greasy - coleslaw tasted like bitter vinegar (which normally does NOT belong in coleslaw). Coleslaw consists of cabbage (white or red), onions (brown or white or red), carrots & mayo... no vinegar... the main thing is no bitter vinegar! The meat was swimming in a layer of fat (3 mm thick all around). The only good thing was that the under-fried fries didn't get into the fat because they were in a container. BBQ sauce felt like it came from a bottle. Overly sugary crap... If it didn't come from a bottle, it wasn't good. Any chef who serves something like that should go back to culinary school, in my humble opinion.

The menu is small, but there's something for everyone, and it's truly delicious. Beautifully presented and generous portions. There's a large outdoor area. The church also has a lovely atmosphere.

We were able to host a wedding dinner and reception here, complete with a singer and pianist. It's THE perfect location, with a highly motivated and attentive, extensive staff, fantastic food, service, and ambiance. It was a truly unique experience, showing how to create dreamlike events. They are true professionals, chapeau!

The food itself was really good. The ambiance is among the best I've ever seen. However, the service was subpar... The server was unfriendly, and the wait times were terrible. We're still waiting for our drinks. It's a shame, really. With better service, we'd gladly come more often.

We went to this place for dinner yesterday. It's far from what it promises. Far too overpriced, and the food is nothing special. Service is forgettable; the staff was friendly, but it still wasn't great. We had to reorder drinks three times, and it took 20 minutes for the drinks to finally arrive. Not recommended

A great atmosphere in a former church. The food – priced fairly high – was very tasty. Because of the nice weather, we took advantage of the well-kept beer garden. The service was very friendly and attentive.

Das Personal ist sehr freundlich, wirkt aber leider unorganisiert und wenig aufmerksam. Gute Parkmöglichkeit auf einem Parkplatz nebenan auch Fahrradstellplätze gibt es.

Way too pretentious. The atmosphere is very nice because it's inside a new/old church. But the food was very disappointing, and considering the price (which was extremely high for Bielefeld standard) i at least expected quality ingredients. There was no quality, and i didn't like much the combination of ingredients either. The service was okay, but thought not professional enough (again, considering what you pay for). I definitely do not recommend, unless money is no problem and you want to dine in a church.

I was there for the first time yesterday...the varied and truly delicious selection of food and drinks, as well as the beautiful ambiance both indoors and outdoors, really won me over. The staff was consistently committed to ensuring that guests lacked nothing and were truly friendly and efficient... Thank you so much for the wonderful evening. Food and service is very good, but more for the higher budget

First of all: I had a €10 GlückundSeligkeit voucher, which had "expired" according to current law - I would have still appreciated some leniency here. But not all wishes are granted. 😉 The ambiance initially struck me as impressive upon entering, given its size and the church windows. However, the many closely spaced tables diminished this and made the place seem considerably less exclusive. The service was friendly, but didn't ask if everything was okay. She even answered this question herself at the end, looking at the empty plates of my companions. My half-full plate + salad was cleared away without question. The food was disappointing for me. While my companions had apparently had better luck, my food was only slightly warm, the portion was tiny, and the flavor was not convincing. The salad consisted mainly of very intensely bitter-tasting leaves, and the promised nuts were completely missing. The drink I chose was overly sweet for my taste. The food looked fantastic, but that's not enough for me. Judging by the reviews, there are obviously a lot of fans. I'm not one of them at the moment. Maybe it was just bad luck.

We had an all-around fantastic evening at this restaurant! Our server was very friendly, attentive, and had a pleasantly relaxed manner. The appetizers alone were a real highlight – incredibly delicious! The main courses also impressed us, both in terms of taste and appearance – everything was beautifully presented. The service was prompt without making us feel rushed, and the atmosphere was pleasant. The music wasn't too loud, and overall, the volume was perfectly acceptable for a restaurant. The location, with its stylish lighting, particularly creates a great ambiance. We would love to come back and highly recommend the restaurant!

It's a shame, G&S unfortunately didn't live up to our expectations. Asked about allergies, the allergen information on the menu was correct for (almost) no food, so allergy sufferers beware! When asked, the answer was: then we'll probably have to revise the map - what a statement! Food rather disappointing. Service was generally very nice, but unfortunately there were exceptions. The ambience is really nice, but that alone isn't enough.

The tuna steak (medium) exceeded my expectations, the side dishes, especially the purple risotto, had a particularly delicious flavor and were beautifully served with the vegetables. The portion was sufficient and top quality and taste, so I personally found the high price of just under €35 justified. The atmosphere (outside) was very pleasant and beautifully lit and the heaters made it possible to sit there without freezing even at temperatures of almost 13 degrees. The noise from the street was noticeable (at 8 p.m.) but not disturbing. The service was very distinguished and extremely friendly. Overall, it is a rather upscale restaurant, which not only pretends to be, but also offers the appropriate quality. Last but not least, the toilets were very clean and modern and I can only recommend it, although this is a visit for special occasions or a heavier wallet and not a “normal” restaurant visit.

I'm super disappointed with how this place turned out and how much money I spent the evening there. Mass processing (tables so close together that you hear the conversations from the table next door and have to watch how to get out of the corner), lots of dishes that are nothing special (we waited over an hour for the main course) and then drinks from cheap action glasses. Pure disappointment and never again!

Main course from the weekly menu was good. Unfortunately the appetizer platter was disappointing. The ambience is definitely something special.

We have now been to “Glück und Seligkeit” 17 times, so we can make a statistical :-) judgment. The most important thing first...the food and the way it is prepared and served is of course delicious and gets a full 5 points. This is to be expected in this price category, but it should still be mentioned. The culinary dream for me is the tomahawk steak, but the other dishes we have eaten so far, especially the vegetarian and vegan ones like the pot roast, have also been delicious. The ambience is impressive. The reason why we only give this 4 out of 5 stars is the very strenuous and often too loud background music. Sure, that's a very individual feeling, but the sometimes incredibly bad cover versions of originally good songs have driven us to one or two too many cocktails. It might be an idea to invest part of the sales in the GEMA fee or to buy the composer a course. Regarding the service...of course everyone is polite, nice and friendly. But that can also be expected. What's annoying is that you're asked far too often during the meal whether everything is okay. Sure, asking questions once or twice is okay, but being asked multiple times by different people shouldn't be the case. It is even worse that you are neglected after eating. Even if the restaurant is not overly busy. All in all, a great restaurant, but in our eyes it wants to be more than it is. Nevertheless, we would like to come back :-)

Beautiful old church, warm atmosphere (you don't have to freeze like in church :D), not too loud (even when it gets crowded) and good food. Dogs and children are very welcome here! My family was very happy with their meal (meat eaters), I was a bit disappointed with my cauliflower "schnitzel" as it was really just fried cauliflower and there was nothing filling about the dish. Not even the three lettuce leaves decoration... The lavender-vanilla lemonade (yes, a strange mixture) was my personal highlight. The service wasn't quite as attentive, but very friendly. However, the price is a bit too high based on our dining experience. Conclusion: It's worth an experience, but for us it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Unfortunately we had a very disappointing evening at GlückundSeligigkeit. The location is really impressive. The food was also delicious, although it wasn't brought to us at the same time, but with a few minutes delay. Unfortunately my food wasn't particularly warm to begin with, so I was able to eat my beef fillet cold. This wasn't an isolated case either. Because over the course of the evening we were able to observe how all the dishes were served individually and with an unreasonable waiting time. In addition, employees repeatedly ran from table to table with drinks and didn't know where they belonged. After an employee dropped a cup, there was no immediate response. Instead, the mess lay on the floor for several minutes. Another employee took a big step over it and rolled her eyes. But then he just walked away. After another 5 minutes, the person responsible wiped everything up with napkins. Unfortunately, she made no move to properly wipe it away, preferring to do her other work. After we expressed our criticism, we were told that it was due to a lack of staff. Unfortunately, we didn't entirely share the impression because some of the existing employees didn't seem particularly committed. When we asked for the bill we were told that a dessert was being prepared for us as an apology. After another 10 minutes we got a dessert for two. Unfortunately, the sorbet was still so frozen that we couldn't even scratch it, let alone eat it. Conclusion: The price-performance ratio is not acceptable in this restaurant.

Great “restaurant” that has an unusual ambience and breathes new life into this old, venerable church without degrading it.

Seldom eaten so badly.Wild boar ravioli didn't taste like game, and the cranberries were spread on the bottom of the plate under the meat, so every bite was sweet. The ravioli had no taste. A fellow guest's cucumber salad was too salty. The ambience and service cannot make up for the disappointment.

The building's interior is no longer really recognizable as a former church, but the decor is still very nice. The expensive food is unfortunately, as is often the case, served in small portions. The sauces are super-seasoned. The sorbets were served frozen and could only be consumed after at least five minutes. The young staff is very professional. The restrooms are modern.

The atmosphere of happiness and bliss is impressive and the location is truly unique. Unfortunately the food wasn't convincing this time. I had the poke sushi bowl with tuna, but the tuna pieces were cut way too big and declared as sashimi, which didn't really fit. Unfortunately, the sushi rice was far too grainy and hard, which spoiled the enjoyment. In addition, the mango in the bowl was unripe and the edamame was not cooked properly. Overall the dish was disappointing but the service was friendly. Maybe I was just unlucky that day, but for the price of around €35 ​​I would have expected more.

Ambience and service excellent. The food was OK, but we expected better for the high prices. The taste was a bit bland, simply arranged on the plates, you could have gotten more out of it with a little decoration, herbs and spices. Everything went smoothly. The service was great, the food was simply fantastic and the location was very special. So an absolute recommendation! We'd love to come back :)

Very good, everything tasty and beautiful

Yesterday we were in the GS for the first time, what can you say. It was perfect. Tuna Tataki as a starter perfectly prepared and presented on the plate. Pizza bread with dip super delicious, the herbs incorporated into the dough and so much that you can't manage it. Main course BBQ salmon, I had the feeling that the salmon was melting on the palate, the vegetables were nothing over the top but perfect in terms of cooking and taste. New Zealand beef fillet. At first I thought why does it have to be New Zealand, after the first bite it was clear why. Dessert sorbet variations perfectly presented. Chocolate cake with a liquid center. The menu indicates that preparation takes 15 minutes. The result was worth every minute of waiting. In conclusion, a perfect culinary evening in the former church. A straight 12 out of 10 and we'll be back...

Unfortunately the food didn't match the price. We waited 2.5 hours for the main course and then it was unacceptable.

Unfortunately the service was slow. The waiting times for drinks and food were also long. Nevertheless, the staff was friendly and helpful. Visually the food makes an appealing impression, but the taste was only sufficient. I would have expected more here. The ambience of the restaurant is nice and inviting, but that alone is not enough. The wine was consistently delicious and one of the highlights of the evening. I found it a shame that during the visit there was no inquiry as to whether everything was OK or whether the food tasted good. This would have been a good opportunity to help the guest and possibly improve the experience. Overall, it can be said that there is room for improvement, especially in the speed of service and the gastronomic quality.

Long wait for drinks and food. We ordered a piece of meat for 50 euros that was absolutely inedible and when we brought this up we were told that it was a natural product and that this could not be predicted. (That same evening I had to vomit due to severe stomach pain from the incredibly fatty meat). You will then receive a dessert for free...

Very good food in a nice atmosphere (former old church)

There were 13 people in the restaurant today, considering that this restaurant is priced at a high price, I was very disappointed with the service, it was very busy, no question. I work in the service sector myself, it depends on friendliness. When the food came the lady screamed, HELLOOO MAKE SPACE ON THE TABLE!!! When we asked the lady for ketchup and mayonnaise, after 10 minutes she still wasn't in sight, we asked the other waiter FRIENDLY again if we could still get ketchup and mayonnaise, he said; Not everything is at the table yet, we were served for the first time. We had specifically announced that we would bring a cake because it was a birthday, and then we paid “plate money” for it, and then we were asked if we wanted dessert, we then said no, then asked nicely if we could get the plates for the cake, and the waiter replied rudely, uh, yes, right away… that was what we had agreed on, wasn’t it?! We thought, for the money, we would like to eat somewhere else again. Great atmosphere, but unfortunately nothing more. Food is a matter of taste, pizza for just under €20 is too expensive for my taste, vegetables are not cooked through, seafood is not seasoned, cocktails for €11 are also cheaper.

Been there for 3 hours, waited 1.5 hours for the starter, another 30 minutes for the main course. Service was virtually non-existent. Far too few staff for far too many people. We were ignored, even though the waiters walked past us in droves. 240€ for 4 people. Shame for what you get. Very unfortunate.

Unfortunately nothing has changed since our first visit. By the way, we were assured there that the evening was unusually chaotic and that the service was understaffed... 3 months later, still a disaster... We barely managed to get 2 drinks served in 3 hours of stay. And then not even the right ones. A bottle of wine was ordered with the main course, but it never arrived... Craft beer was ordered, draft Pilsner was given... all the employees were superficially friendly, but behind the facade they were visibly annoyed and obviously completely overwhelmed. That's a shame because the food is really great. Likewise the ambience. But unfortunately I can't say that the service is so subpar that another visit is not worth it. Too bad.

I don't actually write reviews but that was the worst restaurant visit I've ever experienced - sorry. We had the table at 7 p.m., chose food and drinks promptly at around 7:30 p.m.... the starter came at 9:30 p.m. and the main course only at 10:30 p.m.!!! the shop is now half empty, some of the staff are friendly, some are not . The food was quite good but not worth the wait.

The service was a disaster, the waitresses were unfriendly and not competent. We eat out 3-4 times a week and haven't experienced such bad service in a long time. We waited: 3.5 hours for our food, food was ok but everything around it was a 0/10 :) all around: a disaster and the biggest snot! Thanks for nothing. It's a real shame because we thought we'd go out for a nice meal and try something new again. Thank you, and see you never again!
