An absolute insider tip. Service very warm. Food, especially the homemade noodles were great. Wine selection not large, but excellent primitivo and sauvignon blanc. Table reservation is definitely recommended.

Definitely an experience. I think it's great that the menu changes and varies so often. So you can always try something new, everything is always fresh and “naturally” prepared. What do I mean by that? You taste the product you eat and no spices that mask the taste. It's a shame, however, that the daily specials always sell out so quickly, 1.5 hours after the store opened there was only pasta with tomato sauce or one of the dishes that are permanently offered, which is a real shame. The shop is always full, which is definitely due to the nice, friendly service, not just the food. So you definitely have to take a bit of sitting and waiting into account. & Always reserve. Great ambience, great food, great service. 5 stars from the bottom of my heart

- Italian home cooking at very ambitious prices - Short conclusion: No recommendation for the overpriced starter of burrata and the expensive daily recommendations from the large table (pasta around €25-28, meat dishes up to €40). Feel free to drink a glass of wine or a beer, but avoid the overpriced bottle of mineral water, then prices of 30-40€/person are possible for a good dinner. Otherwise more like 50-70€/person with moderate performance. Unfortunately, prices, ambience and service don't match. Detailed: The GIOIA mia L'Officucina has enjoyed certain popularity for several years and is often fully booked. We finally had the opportunity to try out this Italian restaurant. In the end, however, there was a mixed feeling. Why? The food served, at least the main courses, was of good quality. Unfortunately, at the end of the day, the price-performance ratio in this restaurant is no longer right and I can't say whether that was always the case. For individual criticism: Large bottle of water (1L) for €7.50 - too expensive (realistically €4-6) Prosecco 0.1L per glass for €7.30 - also ambitious and not amazing in terms of taste. Not necessary. 1 glass of open wine for €7.50 - unfortunately this is now standard almost everywhere, but it was ok. Starter Burrata with tomatoes - €18.90 - absolute failure. For this price you get a relatively small burrata and a few carelessly served halved Roma tomatoes with a little olive oil. Completely incomprehensible what the landlord is thinking and the price is absolutely exorbitant. (realistically 10-13€ for what was offered and unfortunately served a bit carelessly) Starter small mixed salad - €8.90 - good mix but also a few euros too much to be reasonable. (realistically 4-6€) Pasta main courses from the daily table: approx. 23-28€ - These are well made and correspond to the category of home cooking for someone who, like me, regularly travels off the beaten track in Italy. The size is neither particularly large nor small. But the price is very ambitious and not worth what is served. The regular pasta is priced a little lower, but is still a few euros more than reasonable (kind of the trend at the restaurant). (realistically 13-22€) Dessert tiramisu - €7.50 - was very tasty and reasonable. In the end we come to around 120-140€ for 2 people for a good dinner with pasta, starters and dessert. The ambience: An open kitchen and rustic furnishings. Almost an Italian feeling and quite well done. In my opinion, the high prices don't match this. Table decorations and napkins are basic at best. A greeting from the innkeeper wouldn't have hurt. The service: Friendly but a bit flippant, no problem. However, in this price range, I no longer expect the waiter to give me a friendly hint/request after the starter that I can/should keep my cutlery. You can also expect a change of cutlery without being asked or ask the guest what they want. And if you have to keep your cutlery, then as a restaurateur I could definitely think of a way to store it. With the simple, cheap little paper napkins in the restaurant (fabric would be nice too), which you might want to use to protect your clothing, all that's left in the break between the starter and the main course is the bare table to put the used cutlery on - insufficient and hygienically questionable. Conclusion: The restaurant tries its hand at authentic Italian cuisine and atmosphere. The quality of the main courses is good and the size is appropriate. The prices are almost always too high for what is on offer and unfortunately the restaurant does not live up to its price expectations in terms of furnishings and service. For comparable quality and ambience you pay around €60-80 for 2 people in Italy. In this case, a maximum of €80-100 would have been appropriate in my opinion and even that was only benevolent. But then also without the criticisms regarding service and table decorations.

Prices are disproportionate to the food! My friends and I ate there for the first time and everyone was disappointed. When we wanted some more bread, the waitress said something stupid to us: it's probably not welcome to ask for more bread. Prices are disproportionate to the food, we like to go to different restaurants often, but unfortunately this is an absolute rip-off! More appearance than reality, looks fancy but unfortunately that's it.

The quality of the food was A+, really very high quality, all the dishes we ordered were great. Minimal improvement would be possible in the speed of the service, in some cases you had to wait quite a long time.

Overall, unfortunately just okay. We waited over an hour for the starter alone. A burrata with a normal tomato sliced ​​and a few slices of ham for 19€. Unfortunately, this is disproportionate, far too expensive. The main course wasn't bad, but overall we expected more for the prices. Probably won't go there again.

For me it's one of those "hidden places"! 😉 Rather inconspicuous from the outside, but inside: super nice service, great food. Small but very selected menu with great fresh products. Absolutely recommended and should be on the agenda when visiting Freiburg!

It's outrageous what the management of this restaurant does to customers... On a normal opening day, no one comes to the phone to make a reservation, no one says anything on the answering machine... then we're still in front of the restaurant door and what it says ???CLOSED... CHIUSO... Hangs up... a sign... it was 7 p.m.... on a normal opening day... Wir waren am 2.12.23 zum Abendessen und hatten uns auf ein sehr schönes Essen gefreut. Leider ist das Essen (Antipasti, Salat und Spaghetti) nicht besonders gut gewesen und für die Qualität des Essens völlig überteuert. Sehr schade. Das Ambiente ist wirklich schön

Wir waren früher oft hier, jetzt seit längerer Zeit mal wieder: die Speisen waren ok, nicht den Preisen angemessen und wir Zahlen immer gerne für gute Qualität. Pasta mit Trüffelcreme: die Nudeln waren selbstgemacht und sehr gut, der Trüffelanteil in der Sauce sehr sparsam, es war eher Trüffelstaub zu sehen, keine Stücken, 27€. Das Ribeye war extrem dünn, max. 2cm, etwas trocken und solch eine Schuhsohle würde mir zu Haus um die Ohren fliegen. Auch viel zu teuer für das, was es war. Schade! Ambiente ansonsten wie immer, sehr laut, ist aber so und sehr nette Bedienung, obwohl der Laden komplett voll war. Für uns aber leider nicht mehr.

I don’t like to give bad reviews but service was very poor. We sat for 15 minutes before anyone came to our table, and throughout the evening it was a continual struggle to get anyone to pay attention to us. The food was ok but not really good enough to justify the prices. We had the feeling you have to be a regular to get good treatment.

Gutes / sehr gutes Essen wenn man viel Zeit mit bringt … nicht alles läuft rund / der Service ist bemüht … echte Herzlichkeit wird eher nur Stammgästen zuteil … war zum dritten Mal in drei Jahren da … für den fünften Stern dürfte es eine bessere Kundenansprache sein.

Wir hatten einen schönen Abend und authentische und geschmacklich sehr gute Gerichte. Das Restaurant ist sehr schön eingerichtet und die offene Küche macht einfach nur Spaß! Das Preis/Leistungs Verhältnis ist an der oberen Grenze. Für diese Preisklasse hätte ich es mir gewünscht, das der Service etwas professioneller ist. Die Mitarbeiter sind sehr höflich, allerdings wurden die Getränke nicht eingeschenkt und einfach nur auf den Tisch gestellt. Auch hätte ich bei den gehobenen Preisen schön gefunden einen Brotkorb mit etwas Olivenöl zu bekommen. Alles in allem ein gelungener Abend.

Beste Nudeln der Stadt. Direkt am Europaplatz, für Altfreiburger, da wo des Siegesdenkmal stand. Faire Preise, ständig wechselnde Gerichte und ein Top Service sind meine seltenen 5 Sterne wert. Zu Stosszeiten empfiehlt man hier eine Reservierung, sonst auf gut Glück bei ca. 40 Plätzen. Empfehlung = nicht vorbeilaufen!

Ich esse selten Pasta außer Haus, hier tue ich es getrost, weil sie wirklich gut ist, wie auch alles andere, das auf der Karte steht. Das Gastro Handwerk ist hier verstanden worden, dazu kommen faire Weinpreise und ein engagierter Service. Einwandfrei und deshalb immer voll.

Sehr zu empfehlen. Fantastische frische Pasta (keine Pizza), wechselnde Gerichte. Antipasti-Platte ist ein Muss, genauso der Espresso. Man hat das Gefühl man sitzt in der Küche. Personal sehr freundlich und familiär - Nonna überwacht alles. Kartenzahlung möglich.

Incredible restaurant for authentic and delicious Italian food in the heart of Freiburg! Make sure to reserve or come early as this place seems to be very popular. Our waitress explained the menu very well to us in English and attended us well. It was astounding to see the whole place run by essentially 4 people - they do an incredible job, but do expect the service to be a little slower. The quality of the food is worth it as it is always served fresh with great quality ingredients. We ordered an antipasti and some sort of ravioli dish served with asparagus (we forgot the names as they are written in Italian and the menu changes daily). We could see the meats being freshly sliced in the back, and they were delicous! The cheeses were also great. The ravioli was made from fresh pasta made in house and stuffed with a filling that was heaven! The portions are very big here so keep that in mind when ordering. This is a very popular and lively place so be prepared for it to be crowded and loud.
