Gin & Jagger in Essen

I find the price-performance ratio for the food I ordered to be very disproportionate! I had a veal schnitzel with fries, cucumber salad and green sauce. €28.50 is ok for this, but the portion size was really much too small!!! The schnitzel was extremely thin, the cucumber salad was just a “bite” and the green sauce under the schnitzel was barely there! When I asked, I got a little more sauce, but it was still disappointing, although overall the food was very tasty!!! Of course it's just my subjective opinion, but you don't like going home hungry! 😉

For years I have only been going here for drinks in Essen. The food is good, the drinks are very good, the staff is just great! I can only warmly recommend the G&J. For me, my absolute favorite bar! ❤️ Always happy!

Unfortunately, not everyone is treated as a guest here, very poor service, completely outrageous prices, with mediocre quality. Both the drinks and the food are ok at best, nothing more and nothing less.

We were here as a group and there really wasn't much negative to say. Food was varied and good. The flatbread for the starters was very run of the mill but otherwise very solid food. That doesn't sound like high praise, but to deliver so many different dishes from different cultures in this quality is quite an achievement. With suit pants the chairs were a bit very slippery. But the atmosphere was very cozy.

Cool restaurant in Essen right on the RÜ. Nice staff, nice atmosphere and a great outdoor area. The food is very tasty and a cool drink is always delicious there. Clear recommendation!

Both the food and drinks are extremely expensive. Demanding 6.50 euros for a frozen fries is quite cheeky. We drank two small beers for 10.00 euros and moved on. The ambience is nice, but doesn't justify the price

The food here is very expensive and the drinking is even more expensive. The portions are so small that I didn't feel full, even though I usually can't manage a normal portion. Nevertheless, the food was very tasty, even if there was a lack of salt on the potatoes and vegetables (a broccoli floret, a slice of zucchini, a slice of eggplant, a strip of pepper). I have never paid €112 for food and drink for two people anywhere else. It's also very loud and you have to like sitting elbow to elbow with strangers.

Hardly any gin selection. None of the good gins from NRW available. Not even EL BART??? Audience was really OK until 11. Prices reasonable. Later, however, a certain client came along that I honestly didn't want to have much to do with. They then spread and the mood is gone. Too bad.

The Gin&Jagger on Rüttenscheider Straße 181 is a cool, modern and very clean restaurant. At lunchtime it was rather quiet, which was pleasant. However, there was a somewhat loud knock from near the bar, which was probably caused by the preparation of the schnitzel - a small negative point in the otherwise relaxed atmosphere. We ordered two curry sausages which were classic and very tasty. Not a special taste explosion, but a solid currywurst fries, accompanied by a really good mayo. In terms of price, Gin&Jagger is a little above average, but that's definitely justifiable for what's on offer. A small note on the drinks menu: The wheat beer selection could be a little broader as only one type (King Ludwig) was available. Otherwise, Gin&Jagger offers a clear menu in a cozy atmosphere. We were expecting something more exotic, but ultimately it's a solid and pleasant restaurant that strikes a good balance between modern touches and classic cuisine. Overall, a successful 4-star experience – definitely worth a visit

Cozy restaurant with a large cocktail menu and outdoor area in Essen. The menu is pleasantly clear. Some vegetarian options are also available. In my opinion the prices are too high. My salad was tasty but not exceptional. The store focuses on drinks. I was particularly pleased that many non-alcoholic alternatives were also offered. The team was friendly and quick. I was able to pay conveniently by credit card.

Really a nice shop, the outside area is really great too!! We were 8 people. The service was very nice, but we didn't see them for a long time, we didn't ask too often and the food took a long time to come. I thought the drinks were great, especially the non-alcoholic offering. The food was good, but there is still room for improvement. The price is TOTALLY overpriced for what you get. We found it almost outrageous.

We were a large group on a Wednesday evening. The waiter constantly ignored us and couldn't be found for at least 30 minutes. After several requests, the service did not take long to bring us several glasses for our wine bottles. The icing on the cake was when we were kicked out of the store shortly after 11 even though our glasses were still half full. I quote: We close in 5 minutes, I hope you find your way out by then. Service catastrophic. We're definitely not coming back.

Wir waren an einem Samstag Abend dort. Das Restaurant war sehr voll. Trotzdem wurden wir schnell bedient. Die Getränkekarte ist sehr einladend. Das Essen dort ist sehr gut. Die BeefBowl oder auch der Cheeseburger waren sehr lecker.

They just had a drink there and watched people :-) Drinks are very good, prices are ok. There is an indoor area and an outdoor area, which the restaurant shares with a second restaurant, but this is not particularly noticeable. Parking is a little difficult, we were lucky.

The „all in one“ location in Essen! A stylish Bar, excellent, though small Menue plus a relaxed Beer Garden. Swift and friendly Service is the Icing on the cake.

Absolutely outrageous value for money! Limits of €10 are still set for card payments, otherwise the fees would be too high... a complete farce and impudence when you look at the rest of the menu and the astronomical prices! The quality of the food leaves a lot to be desired for the prices. Never again for me, Miamamia for example with a significantly better price-performance ratio!

Absolutely a restaurant that is not recommended. Service thought is absolutely zero. We were there as an orderly bachelorette farewell. When we asked a table next to us (who hadn't yet ordered) if we could put the tables together or politely asked if we could swap seats... the waitress told us not to bother the other guests. That statement was really quite disrespectful. If there had been room for another beer garden. We definitely would have gone. Something should be done here urgently. Unfortunately, we cannot speak of warmth and hospitality. Unfortunately, we sometimes received the wrong food after waiting for over 45 minutes. I've never experienced anything like this. Very unfortunate. Unfortunately not recommended. We visited on April 6th, 2024 at around 6 p.m.

In an emergency, fries always work Staff: pretty bad but sometimes you're lucky Example (one of many): A waiter spilled the drink, which cost almost €16, all over my husband's pants, the table and the floor. Only after the third request did he bring a rag to wipe it up and then discussed bringing a fresh drink and accused my partner of already getting drunk. Conclusion: another waitress took over for him and I had to be completely ashamed of this “service” in front of our invited guests.

Love the ambience inside! However, we sat outside once because there was nothing free inside. I have to say that that was a few months ago. It was warm and we were refused food outside, for whatever reason, there was no explanation from the waitress. I also offered to pay her in advance if she thought I was running away. This was refused even though the kitchen was open.. when ordering the cocktails I asked that the ice be taken out of the cocktails AFTER mixing (I drink very slowly and just don't like the watery taste of the melted ice). She then looks at me as if I had insulted her and says: You won't get any more drinks! Oh really? That's why I asked if you could take the ice cream out AFTER mixing. At some point we were back, this time in the store itself. The waiter was probably on his first day or something, but he was so slow, confused and not service-oriented that it kind of put me off, despite my understanding.

Dear readers, The visited bar "Gin and Jagger" offers an interesting (indoor) atmosphere, which is marred by a mixed level of service. The ambience is modern and appealing, with a wide selection of gins and other cocktails, long drinks and beers presented in an extremely stylish setting. Unfortunately, the service was not entirely satisfactory for us on this day. The staff was sometimes attentive and friendly, but there were also moments when the attention left something to be desired and we had to wait a long time for a new round of orders. The cocktail creations at Gin and Jagger present themselves as an ambivalent experience. Some of the cocktails lived up to expectations and showed a creative touch, while others didn't quite match the descriptions on the menu. However, these have been improved. This led to a certain amount of uncertainty when making the selection, as you didn't always know exactly what to expect. What should be positively highlighted is the wide range of gin varieties, which will certainly please lovers of this drink. Individual bartenders seemed to have a solid knowledge of the different gins and their flavors, which was reflected in some well-balanced cocktails. In terms of prices, Gin and Jagger is in the mid to high segment. The quality of the drinks largely justifies the expense, but it would be desirable if the service was more consistent and reliable to improve the overall experience. In summary, Gin and Jagger is a promising bar, but one marred by inconsistent service and occasional discrepancies in cocktails. With an improvement in the staff and accurate implementation of the cocktail recipes, this location would have the potential to become a premier meeting point for gin lovers in Essen. Sehr schöne Lokalität sehr freundliches Personal. Essen war lecker und die Longdrinks und Cocktails waren gut gemixt. Die Barkeeper verstehen ihr Geschäft. Kommen gern wieder.

Very lively atmosphere and music. The owner is always present making sure everything is going smoothly. Asian fusion food with taste bombs, good portion and great quality. Highly recommended salmon bowl with flavorful kimchi. Burger is also juicy and the meat is really the star if the show. Cocktails are also enjoyable.

Essen ganz gut, aber der hohe Preis ist absolut nicht gerechtfertigt. Service schwach. Braucht mitunter extrem lang und insbesondere die Chefkellnerin ist häufig sehr harsch und unfreundlich. Location cool gemacht, insbesondere der Biergarten ist im Sommer cool!

Hie kann man super essen gehen. Die Küche ist vielfältig und sehr lecker(wenn manchmal auch etwas scharf xD). Der Nachtisch war das beste am ganzen Menü!!! Die Cocktails waren super und das Personal freundlich! Mit ein bisschen mehr Geld in der Tasche kann man einen schönen Abend dort verbringen!

Freundlicher Kellner/Barkeeper, außerdem recht gemütliche Atmosphäre. Preise sind für meinen Geschmack in Anbetracht des Geschmacks der Getränke etwas zu hoch und die Stühle nicht gerade bequem. Der abgebildete Wildberry Daiquiri und das Radler haben trotzdem geschmeckt und das Essen sah auch gut aus, auch wenn ich es noch nicht probiert habe. Aber ich glaube alles Frittierte kann man hier problemlos genießen.

Wir hatten nichts gegessen, daher dort keine Bewertung. Große und coole Getränke-Cocktailkarte. Der Laden ist angesagt. Barkeeper sind top. Gut Stimmung. Wir hatten 4 verschiedene Cocktails 🍸, alles top 💪.

Gestern spontan auf ein paar Cocktails da gewesen, alles in allem Top

Ich war das erste Mal vor Ort, und bin mehr als zufrieden. Die Currywurst war super, die Bedienung freundlich und das Ambiente angenehm. Ich komme wieder, auch wenn ich die Weinpreise für nicht gerechtfertigt halte. Darüber sollte man mal nachdenken.

Eine fantastische Auswahl an cocktails, aber mit einem guten preisschild bei einigen

Zu zweit dort gewesen, dann gleichzeitig ein Longdrink und ein Bier bestellt. Bier kam dann nach ca 15 Minuten, nach weiteren 15 Minuten kam dann auch endlich der Longdrink. Als beides leer war, wurde auch nach 20 Minuten nicht nachgefragt, ob es noch was darf. Zack raus und in den nächsten Laden auf der Rü.

Sehr gutes Essen aus deutlich schlanker Karte. Handwerklich sehr gut gemacht und gut präsentiert. Service ist gut aber nicht übermotiviert: meldet man sich nicht selbst, bekommt man sicher auch nichts angeboten. Pricing ist teuer, aber wir sind ja auch in Rüttenscheid. Dort gehört das ja zum guten Ton etwas mehr für ein Restaurant zahlen zu müssen. Insgesamt ein angenehmes Restaurant, das man gut besuchen kann. Dort passiert es aber ganz sicher nicht, dass man so beeindruckt ist, sofort wiederkommen zu wollen.

Diese Bar ist super! Es macht spaß hier einen Abend zu verbringen, vor allem im Sommer mit dem riesigen Außenbereich.

Der Service war freundlich und wir wurden schnell bedient und auch mehrfach gefragt, ob wir noch etwas trinken möchten. Leider stehen die Preise der Speisen in keinem Verhältnis zum Geschmack und zur Raffinesse. 16,50€ für Ziegenkäsesalat und 19€ für einen Veggieburger mit Pommes. Alles total okay, aber nichts Besonderes. Was uns gestört hat, war die enorme Lautstärke. Gespräche waren selbst mit dem unmittelbaren Nachbarn kaum möglich. Für ein Restaurant too much. Ich denke, wir würden nur im Sommer auf ein Getränk wiederkommen, wenn wir auf der Terrasse sitzen können.

Ein Juwel der Rüttenscheider Straße! Im wunderschönen und niveauvollen Ambiente gibt es die besten Cocktails und Speisen! Einfach zum wohlfühlen und Spaß haben!

Leider sehr teuer und die Kellner gucken die Gäste immer an, als ob die Gäste alle Kellner persönlich beleidgt haben. Die Tische draußen hinter dem Laden sind schön.

Wir wollten mit Freunden etwas leckeres Essen gehen und wollten demnach das Gin & Jagger kennenlernen. Die Inneneinrichtung und die Terrasse, waren definitiv ein Pluspunkt, besonders da man auf der RÜ bei vielen Lokalen der Außenbereich direkt an der Straße ist Am Ende war unser Besuch nur sehr kurz und hat sich lediglich auf ein Getränk sowie eine Vorspeise beschränkt. Wir haben grundsätzlich kein Problem damit für gutes Essen, mehr Geld zu bezahlen, aber unser Bauchgefühl hat uns im Vorfeld bereits den Hinweis gegeben, dass wir hier evtl. nicht auf unsere Kosten kommen werden. Nachdem ich meine Crispy Spring Rolls für fast 14€ probiert habe, wurde mein Bauchgefühl bestätigt. Die Spring Rolls waren nicht schlecht, aber auch eben kein Highlight. Geschmacklich waren sie sehr unscheinbar und haben einfach nur nach dem geschmeckt was drin war, Spinat und Feta. Bei dem schönen Ambiente, der Lage und den stolzen Preisen, ist die Erwartungshaltung schon etwas höher, sodass aus meiner Sicht das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis nicht stimmt. Ich bin mir nicht sicher ob wir noch einmal wiederkommen um ein Hauptgericht zu probieren, denn seien wir mal ehrlich für einen wirklich guten Burger oder Asiatische Küche, gibt es super Alternativen 😄

Wir waren Abends für einige Drinks noch da. Schönes Ambiente, guter Service. Nur die Cocktails waren nichts besonderes.

Leckere Cocktails gepaart mit einer leckeren Speisekarte für den kleinen und auch großen Hunger. Wenn man in Rüttenscheid unterwegs ist kann man hier mit einem Stop nichts falsch machen. Auch die Kellerbar ist immer einen Besuch wert!

Wer nicht bedient werden möchte ist hier richtig. Wir sind zu dritt da, alle wurden vor uns bedient. Als ich darauf hingewiesen habe, dass unsere Bestellung nicht kommt wurden meine Freundinnen bedient, mein Getränk kam nicht. Auf Nachfrage angeblich zu kompliziert. Warum steht es dann auf der Karte? Schlechtester Service ever. Ich rechne nicht mehr mit meinem Getränk.

Sehr empfehlenswert, besonders schön ist der große Wintergarten. Wir waren zu dritt zum Mittag da, hatten Burger und Salat - alles lecker, selbst gemachte Limonade, auch sehr gut, weil nicht zu süß - bezahlt haben wir pro Person 25 Euro

Eine Rechnung von 250€ für 8 Cocktails und 4 Shots wo keiner klein bisschen betrunken war??? Statt ..zig Cocktails, die sehr mittelmäßig sind besser 10 die aber gut sind. Essen auch nicht besonders, immer alles voll. Mehrmals versucht und immer schlechte Erfahrung. Das Publikum kommt sicherlich nicht fürs Essen und Trinken her :)

Buen lugar para cócteles, variedad con especialidad en ginebras. Atención correcta pero un poco lenta.

Eigentlich bin ich total gerne hier aber seit einer Weiler wird der Service schlechter und die Stimmung unangenehmer.. Die Qualität der Drinks ist inkonstant und oft sind sie zu wässrig oder viel zu stark!

Sehr lässige, moderne Bar auf der RÜ mit toller Getränkekarte, leckerem Essen und einem ganz zauberhaften Serviceteam. Hier kann man es sich in netter Atmosphäre gut gehen lassen zu normalen Preisen. Danke für den schönen Abend.

Hier zondagavond gegeten, bijzonder getroffen door ontvangst eten en relaxte sfeer. Waren in Essen voor een beurs, en op zoek naar een restaurant. Via Google hier terecht gekomen, maken alles waar wat op de site staat. Waar ,, duurdere,, restaurants steken laten vallen, maken zij het helemaal waar. Komen zeker graag een keer terug.

Gutes Essen, Service top und im Untergeschoss Cocktails in cooler Atmosphäre

Sehr lebhaftes Lokal mit hervorragenden Cocktails und gutem Essen. Wir waren spontan Samstag Abend da und hatten Glück, noch einen Platz zu bekommen. Es war rappelvoll. Eine Reservierung empfiehlt sich. Wir saßen im hinteren Bereich, den ich gemütlicher finde, als den vorderen. Der Service hat sich die ganze Zeit hervorragend um uns gekümmert und war außerdem noch sehr freundlich. Wir hatten die Animal Fries und die Ziegenkäsekroketten als Vorspeise. Beides megalecker. Als Hauptgericht Burger und das Special des Tages. Beides auch sehr gut. Mein Fleisch hätte vielleicht noch etwas heißer sein können, aber war noch im Rahmen. Als Nachtisch gab's ein Dreierlei von Eis, Topfen und Creme Brûlée. Der Topfen war da klar mein Favorite. Ich hatte noch einen Smoked Jagger Sour als Cocktail. Der wurde am Tisch mit der Räucherpistole serviert. Toller Showeffekt. Alles in allem ein sehr schöner Abend. Klare Empfehlung und gerne wieder.

Essen war in Ordnung aber das man seinen Tisch nach genau 2 std pünktlich räumen muss fanden wir unmöglich!!!!
