Delicious African food at a fair price. The staff is very friendly and always makes you laugh! :-D

Unfortunately we were very disappointed, it took 40 minutes until our order was taken and we couldn't order any drinks until then, the main course arrived after over an hour, our starter was completely forgotten, well the main courses all tasted pretty much the same and the portions were pretty small for the price, so after 4 spoons everything was gone, for dessert we ordered tea and coffee which didn't arrive after 40 minutes and we asked how long it would take, we were told that (oh what a miracle) it had been forgotten, you could say that 60% of our orders were forgotten, oh yeah the cutlery was also forgotten just by the way, we then paid and left.

Super nice owner. We felt very comfortable there.👍 Always happy to come back.😃 Very good. I would happily recommend it.🤗 The food is also very tasty.👍

Very tasty food and very cozy atmosphere.

The food is fine. But it takes a long time for the food to come to the table. When the other food was finally served after an hour, we were told that the kitchen didn't have the ingredients. The owner, who was also waiting tables at the same time, seemed a little drunk and was making bad jokes. Another thing that was very unpleasant was his physical aggression. That's why in my opinion one star alone is too much for Savanne Restaurant. Not recommended!!!

We are there once or twice a year with the Schlemmerblock. The owner and the service are very friendly and warm. The ambience is very nicely decorated in an African style. You can sit inside and outside. The food is very tasty and the portions are generous. You can park directly opposite in a large, free parking lot.

This was our first time in Lich. Very pleasantly received. Very nice owner family. Top food with great quality. We would love to come back.

Really delicious food, but we would have liked a few more spoonfuls of it. The savannah plate for two people was really manageable for us and was empty as quickly as you could see. We left the restaurant half full and rather hungry. If you want to eat here, you should also bring your time. It takes a while until the food is served...

Friendly service, good service, it tastes good

A beautiful place... Very nice service ☺️ Super tasty starters and main courses... I would have loved to go straight to the kitchen and praise the kitchen straight away. It was a wonderful, cozy time with a fabulous meal... And...the DjuDju beer was available exclusively from the drinking bowls and not from the glass... We always enjoy coming back...even if we have to drive a bit.

We ate here this evening. Our food was called MAMA PANDYA and PAPA PANDYA and was very tasty. The ambience fits the African concept and is cozy. A large parking lot is available. We'll be back.

Very good food, nice owners, service a bit slow. Only cash payment possible. Definitely worth a visit for both the ambience and the taste.

Today we were here in the savannah for the first time, the good cuisine was pleasantly surprised at how good the African food tasted. The manager of the house ensured a pleasant evening. We say thank you and would be happy to come back.

Beautiful place, nice staff, tasty food and fair price

Delicious African food with lots of foreign spices, but easy to digest. Good flavored beer - with Kallebasse as a drinking vessel! Great dessert made from fried coconut balls with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, some cream and a delicious decorative sauce.

Very tasty and exceptional food. Nice service. Price/performance great. Update July 2024: Were there again for a long time and had a gourmet block (2 main courses, the cheaper one is free). We ordered an appetizer to go with the two main courses. After about an hour, the next table came later and had his food in front of us, we asked for our food. You can always have a bad day and/or forget something... The answer we got was that we were at an African restaurant and not a fast food restaurant! We like to take our time when eating, especially when it's good, but a starter after about 75 minutes is a "bit" too long. Half an hour would have been completely sufficient. But we will try again in due course!😉

Unfortunately the worst African I've ever been to. We ordered a plate (waited about 40 minutes) on which there were some lentils, spicy meat, a chicken leg, curry and a bit of salad with a cheeky dressing (?). Unfortunately it didn't taste particularly good and there was very little. Overall, the waiter appeared very cheeky, didn't ask for our feedback but just said "Good, isn't it?". When I gave it to him anyway regarding the quantity, the answer I got was "Our other guests eat starter and dessert. But you're slim and don't want to get as fat as me." I can't understand the good reviews and would rather go to an African restaurant in Giessen or Marburg.

The food was very good, but the waiting time was endless, new drinks had to be actively requested. The service gets the two stars because it is extremely friendly when you enjoy it. Waited 90 minutes for the starter... but maybe our timing was just bad.

Very tasty and the service was great

Highly recommend the Dju Dju beer passion fruit and the savannah plate. We had the vegetarian one for two people. It was super tasty. I couldn't imagine that I would like everything, but we finished the large plate of ratzeputz. The price performance ratio is very good. The interior is in a cozy African style. We'll definitely go there again.

The Savanne is my favorite restaurant in Lich, the food here always makes me happy. :) Especially if you want to eat vegetarian or vegan, you've come to a good address here. The food is always freshly prepared and I have found everything delicious! The only small criticism is that it can sometimes take longer. So you should always have enough time and patience.

Very nice restaurant. The food was fantastic. The atmosphere was very cozy and the service was very friendly and quick. Was there today for the first time and not for the last time. The African cuisine is very tasty and I can highly recommend it.

We were there with a larger group. Staff very authentic and friendly. The food was delicious as were the drinks (beer with banana flavor or mango 😋 Lots of attention to detail with an African flair! We will be back.

Unfortunately not recommended. Although the food was actually quite tasty... For me, such a "luxury" (if you still treat yourself to it at all these days) definitely includes the complete package. We waited over an hour for the food and unfortunately we weren't served or noticed during this waiting time! The neighboring table, which arrived much later than us, had its food served much earlier. Even after we were finally able to eat...there was no service in sight, let alone there for us. In principle it's a shame, because I think you could definitely score more here with good service. As already mentioned, the food was good but the price-performance ratio for the portion was questionable..

No schnitzels...☝🏻 and that's exactly right. Anyone who comes here will find culinary specialties from Africa on the menu. Excellently prepared and attractively presented. Fancy a mango beer? I highly recommend it. Many people can do Greeks and the like. Only a few are African. It's worth a visit here. Savannah gets a thumbs up from us 👍🏻

Excellent African cuisine and friendly staff. The boss serves it himself and is also very willing to compromise. The prices are okay and the portions are reasonable. It is very cozy and colorful. There are numerous self-painted pictures hanging on the walls, which are also available for purchase. Some sculptures are also available for purchase. The Savanna is centrally located with good parking nearby.

Rustic atmosphere, nice service from the boss and the boss cooks fresh and very tasty!

Sehr lecker freundliches Personal

Bei jedem Besuch in Lich essen wir hier vegan afrikanisch! Super! Sehr gerne wieder.

Wir waren zum ersten Mal dort und kommen sicher wieder. Die Inneneinrichtung und der Biergarten sind schön eingerichtet. Der Wirt war sehr nett und lustig. Das Essen war sowohl von der Qualität und der Quantität klasse. Als kleinen Tipp an das Restaurant möchte ich aufführen: ihr verwendet wohl authentisches Geschirr, was toll ist, aber tauscht beschädigtes Geschirr aus.

Einfach Fabelhaft, mit Abstand eines der besten Restaurants im Umkreis von Gießen :)

Leider eine totale Enttäuschung! Die Tischdecke war nicht sauber und hatte dicke Löcher. Die Arme wollte man also ungern ablegen. Der Rest des Restaurants, auch wenn die Deko/Bilder einen nach Afrika versetzen, war auch eher unsauber... Wir hatten 3 verschiedene Gerichte und alle waren eher OK und nicht sehr afrikanisch. Man erwartet raffinierte Gewürze und eine traditionelle Anrichtung. Fehlte uns leider... Der Service war nett, jedoch total überfordert und man musste quasi dem Kellner die Rechnung erstellen, weil wohl nichts wirklich notiert wurde. Schade! Das war leider der erste und letzte Besuch.

Die Savanne ist ein wunderbares, liebevoll eingerichtetes Restaurant in der Licher Altstadt. Der Restaurantbesitzer hat einen erfrischenden Humor und bewirtet seine Gäste mit Wortwitz und Charme. Uns hat es dort sehr gut gefallen. Das Essen war köstlich! Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Sehr empfehlenswert, leckeres Essen , schöne Atmosphäre und sehr nette Bewirtung.

Wir waren vor einem Jahr das erste mal in der Savanne essen und waren sehr begeistert. Das Essen war mit den Gewürzen und geschmacklich echt etwas besonderes. Mit diesem Eindruck waren wir nun wieder dort und wurden leider sehr enttäuscht. Wir hatten einen Tisch für 17 Uhr reserviert und waren die ersten Gäste und haben als letztes (18:30 Uhr) unser Essen bekommen. Optisch war es wieder liebevoll angerichtet. Das Essen war leider komplett geschmacklos und teilweise verkocht, die Kartoffeln nicht gar und das Fleisch zäh. Für Kinder gibt es leider nichts auf der Karte oder kleine Portionen, die man bestellen kann. Leider wird es für uns das letzte mal gewesen sein, da das Preis- und Leistungsverhältnis garnicht mehr passt. Echt schade.

Interessante Speisekarte, lecker zubereitet.

Wir waren an einem Buffet-Samstag da und haben sehr gut gegessen. Es was auch für Vegetarier eine schöne Auswahl da und von Vorspeisen-Suppe über Hauptspeisen bis zu den Kokosbällchen war alles sehr lecker. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Best african restaurant. Especially i highly recommend peanut soup. There is one problem service very very slow. You will wait minimum 50 minutes -1 hour 10 minutes.

Gutes afrikanisches Essen, nette Besitzer. Der hat uns mit seiner netten Art in den Laden "geschwatzt", es hat sich gelohnt. Aber natürlich macht er an allen Tischen die gleichen Witze und weiß bald nicht mehr, wem er was schon erzählt hat. Nach dem Essen gab's einen Schnaps oder Kaffee/Espresso aufs Haus. Beim Abkassieren wusste er nicht mehr, was wir bestellt hatten und wir konnten uns dem Gefühl nicht erwehren, er habe auch ein wenig dem Schnaps für die Gäste zugesprochen... Trotzdem nett. Das Essen war lecker, die Portionen groß genug. Auch vegetarische und glutenfrei war kein Problem. Leider mussten wir relativ lange warten, obwohl nicht sehr voll. Sie organisieren immer wieder Events im Restaurant, da wollen wir demnächst mal hin, mal sehen, wie sie das dann mit der Wartezeit organisiert bekommen. Draußen gibt es wohl auch einen Biergarten, da waren wir allerdings nicht, da Herbst und zu kalt.

Sehr leckeres Essen, authentische Gastgeber, freundlicher Service, offensichtlich ein Familienbetrieb. Habe mich dort wohlgefühlt. Die Einrichtung könnte etwas stimmiger sein, aber man sieht, dass mit Liebe eingerichtet wurde-Deko ist schließlich Geschmackssache. Auf jeden Fall ist das Lokal sehr zu empfehlen.

Noch nie in so lecker gegessen...ob Vorspeise, Hauptgericht oder Nachspeise. Service war mega familiär,man fühlt sich sofort wohl. Ambiente = wohl fühlen pur !!! Mega,danke schön!
