Gemünder Brauhaus in Schleiden

After our hike, ten of us, very hungry men, went to the brewery for dinner. The food was excellent, and the waiters did a fantastic job.

Yesterday, two of us went to the brewery for dinner. We weren't greeted warmly. The place was half full, and the waitress didn't have a friendly word. We were tolerated, but nothing more. Food-wise, we ordered a large soft drink, ordered it, received a small one, but the bill was charged for a large one. The pork was red in places and undercooked. We didn't feel like we were welcome guests. After politely complaining about the bill, which we were only able to see upon request, we received no apology, no "it was an oversight," no "they were sorry," but nothing at all. The bill was changed, and nothing more. We've had significantly better experiences at other restaurants in the Eifel region.

Very good food, delicious beer, would go back.

We (2 adults, 1 toddler) went for dinner on a Thursday afternoon without a reservation. They had one high chair available for the entire restaurant. You can order every dish on the menu and have it adjusted to a kid's menu, which is just a smaller portion. It was not too busy, so we were able to get inside seating. The overall service was ok, not unfriendly, but I feel like it could be a bit more hospitable. The portion sizes were very big, I would recommend just ordering the small portion, which is more than enough for one adult. The pricing is very decent, especially for how much food you get. Our overall experience was fine, nice food and proper portions.

We went for dinner on Sunday evening. A reservation wasn't possible, but we were assured we'd be seated outside, which we were, as we arrived early. The service was very fast; our drinks arrived less than five minutes later. We ordered the food, and it was on the table in less than 20 minutes. Large portions, deliciously prepared, and well-presented. If you like hearty food, this is the place for you.

Today I checked out the Gemündener Brauhaus. My conclusion: I felt very comfortable as a guest, as the entire staff (chef, kitchen staff, hosts) exuded a very empathetic and pleasant atmosphere! Of course, the feel-good feeling was rounded off by the excellent local beer and the very tasty (substantial, freshly prepared!!) food – I had the classic "schnitzel, fries, salad (thank goodness without corn 😉)" – at reasonable prices! I definitely recommend stopping there!

We were on a short trip to Schleiden and were looking for a cozy, rustic place to eat in the surrounding area in the evening. Despite the crowds, we were greeted by a very friendly and dedicated employee, who, after a short wait, showed us to a table, although he had to rearrange some things. We were very thirsty on the hot day and famished from hiking, so a special thank you goes out to him. At other restaurants, we were turned away despite plenty of free seats (although there weren't enough for our group). At the brewery, we were pleased to find that not only the food and drinks were excellent, but also that the very young staff went about their work with smiles, heart, and enthusiasm. A huge compliment to everyone. Here, one employee in particular understood and lived the service. So, a big thank you to him again.

Unfortunately, the meat in both dishes was already cold when it arrived at the table. The salad was excellent.

The staff were horrible and overwhelmed. We sat there for over 25 minutes without even being able to order a drink because no one came. We then got up and went to another restaurant. Therefore, we can't rate the food.

The schnitzels are definitely the best in the region! The fries were, unfortunately, once again simply overcooked... When the dark-haired waiter asked us if everything was okay, we mentioned the fries. The competent reply came immediately with: "You can see what's going on here"... sorry, but that's just not acceptable. 👎 Fortunately, that wasn't the case with the staff in the past! Nevertheless, we'd be happy to come back.

Good food in a lovely setting. Seven of us spontaneously stopped by for dinner on a Wednesday evening. The service was courteous and friendly, with a refreshing touch of cheekiness. The prices might make you think twice, but the portion sizes more than justify it. Our meal was tasty, too; the only downside: the mushroom and onion side dish with the "National Park" schnitzel should have been hot, or at least warm. The menu, along with side dishes and salad, is essentially limited to schnitzel and various steaks; however, those who prefer to indulge themselves can also order a vegetarian "schnitzel." Overall, a good experience; we'll definitely return when the opportunity arises.

After a hike, the Gemünder Brauhaus is the best place to stop for a bite to eat. Here, you'll find everything your heart desires. The portions are generous, the beer is freshly tapped, and the prices are absolutely reasonable. The "small schnitzel" (see photo) is also quite good in my opinion. The mushrooms and onions are freshly fried, not canned. They also come with croquettes. I like that. The staff is friendly, attentive, and personable. I've been there twice now. The first time, we had to wait for a seat; the second time, it was hardly busy. So, either try it spontaneously or reserve a seat by phone. Outside, there are large benches and tables covered with umbrellas. In summary, I can wholeheartedly recommend the Gemünder Brauhaus.

Very tasty, home-style cooking. We ordered the schnitzel hollandaise and were more than satisfied. The only downside is that the staff could be a bit more active. We always had to wait a bit too long for staff, especially outside, but the friendliness made up for it. We'd love to come back!

First of all, the atmosphere is truly fantastic! It's beautifully decorated! I wish I could have taken the decor with me... The service was very attentive and friendly, with only one minor criticism: they had no idea about the alcoholic drinks! Now for the food: finally, a brewery where the food actually arrives piping hot. The schnitzel was super delicious and highly recommended. I'll definitely be coming back!

When it's warm, you can sit outside in a very comfortable atmosphere and be served by very friendly staff. The food is also very tasty. For vegetarians, there's the schnitzel menu, featuring a veggie schnitzel and a baked potato. Everything is very tasty, but a bit rustic. It certainly fits the setting. And the local beer is good, too.

The Gemüder Brauhaus absolutely won me over! The house-brewed beer is incredibly drinkable and impresses with a light, pleasant wheat beer flavor—perfect for a relaxed evening. The salad was fresh, crisp, and a real treat with a perfectly balanced dressing. The highlight, however, was the T-bone steak, weighing a whopping 650g: simply delicious, incredibly flavorful, and cooked to perfection. An all-around successful visit—I'll definitely be back!

Despite making a reservation, we waited 90 minutes for our food. People who arrived later received their food earlier. When we asked about it, we received a snarky, silly answer. When the food finally arrived, it was incomplete.

Just having a quick drink was no problem at all

They had forgotten us, so we had to ask again about our food, it was almost closing time, then within 5 minutes 2 schnitzels came out of the fryer it seemed. Fries fried for the 3rd time and no vegetables with it. Waiter came, solved it well, we didn't have to pay for the food, but we didn't have any food either, we won't be going back here!

The Duroc steak was truly delicious. The pork loin steak was also excellent, and the schnitzel was average, and the service, as always, was disastrous. There were six of us, and our glasses were constantly empty. That was a real shame, because we would have liked more. The place wasn't completely cleared after the meal; empty salad bowls and cutlery remained on the table until we paid.

I had the pleasure of visiting this restaurant and would like to share my impressions. The service was extremely fast – I was seated just 10 seconds after putting my jacket on and already had the menu in my hand. A few seconds later, I was asked for a drink. That was a bit too fast for me, as I barely had time to look at the menu. The drink was also served very quickly – however, it was a beer without a crown, which is somewhat unusual for a brewery and not my favorite. Shortly after I ordered my drink, I was asked what I wanted to eat. This also happened very quickly, so I barely had a chance to study the menu properly. I opted for the mixed grill with a jacket potato and salad on the side. However, these sides didn't arrive until I had already finished my mixed grill. The service was friendly, but there was no eye contact or any other sign of personal attention. The dishes were simply served, almost as if someone was saying, "Here's your food, bye." This struck me as rather unpleasant and unwelcoming. Overall, the visit was pleasant, but the hasty handling and the manner of service somewhat dampened my impression. Unfortunately, there was no decent dessert – the selection was limited to coffee or schnapps, which doesn't really fit the image of a restaurant you'd want. Furthermore, the cleanliness wasn't optimal: There were two dead flies on the windowsill next to us, and spider webs were visible in the upper corner. This somewhat spoiled the overall impression and didn't seem very inviting. I would like to share my impressions of my visit to this restaurant. The ambiance is more reminiscent of a bar than a traditional brewery. I had imagined something more rustic and cozy, reflecting the typical atmosphere of a brewery. Instead, the space feels rather modern and simple, which is pleasant, but not quite what I expected. For someone looking for the typical, rustic brewery atmosphere, this might seem a bit too austere.

Finally had a delicious schniztel and drank our "own" beer again, after having been confronted with a closed door a few times due to renovations.

Recommended Brewery We were here for lunch on a Saturday. The atmosphere is typical of a brewery, the tables are clean, and there's also an outdoor area. The service was very good and fast; we opted for a beef fillet and the large brewery schnitzel, which consisted of three well-cooked schnitzels. You should come hungry. The fillet was cooked as requested and tender. The salad served with the meal was crisp and fresh and had a delicious sauce. The meal was accompanied by a delicious (dark) beer. Parking: was a bit of a problem due to the many construction sites in the downtown area.

We were there on May 18, 2025 at around 3 p.m. The restaurant was 40% full. We asked a server behind the counter for a table for two but received no answer as she had to ask a colleague first. After waiting several minutes, we took one of the many free tables ourselves. Then another server came very quickly and took our order. I ordered a small Kölsch and something for my wife. They then brought me a 0.3 liter mug, which I complained about. They snippily claimed that it was a Kölsch, which, as a Cologne native, I had to dispute. They could have said that they only serve "Gemünder." But I didn't think that far ahead; we were in a brewery after all. The food was very good, although at 19.90 for a schnitzel with a side dish, it was a bit expensive. They don't serve classic brewery food here. When I wanted to pay later, I told the waitress who had served us. (Bl. With glasses) I waved and she nodded. Apparently, she'd forgotten me, because I had to wave a second time. She then called out loudly from behind the counter... cash or card... which horrified me a bit. A young man then came to collect the money. CONCLUSION: Food 5 stars, price 2, ambiance 3, service, unfortunately, only 2 stars.

Unfortunately we had to wait 1.5 hours for our food The service seemed very unorganized, first we didn't come at all for a long time, then we were asked twice, which was probably due to the training of new employees, some of whom didn't have the necessary level of service orientation. When we asked where our food was, we were told that maybe 15 people had come before us, then that could happen, but then no more feedback for the time being. A young waiter, who at least offered us the last drinks for free, broke things up a bit. Unfortunately, when the food came, my husband got the wrong dish. We were told the chef said it was on the house. Luckily the food was very good, but in the end the dish wasn't on the house, just drinks and another €5 discount - significantly less than promised. Apparently everyone was having a bad day. We're thinking again about whether we'll come back again. Personally, I don't think it's ideal to sit at a table with other people outside, especially if they smoke. There is a nice playground in the back and a changing table.

Unfortunately, even though we had called in advance to make a reservation (we said on the phone there is always something free for two people, so a reservation is not necessary) we were told: "We didn't turn away any more food." It's a shame! The time was 8 p.m. on a Saturday

Were there for dinner on Sunday. We waited over an hour for two salads. All the guests who came after us had already had their food. When we asked, we got nothing but a stupid answer. Finally the first salad was served, without apology. The second one only after another 15 minutes. Also without comment. The question of whether and how much we would tip was decided by the waiter out of his own arrogance. He did so by keeping the remaining money without comment. Unfortunately, we can no longer recommend you.

We ate in this brewery for the first time on Maundy Thursday, but it won't be the last time, luckily we had reserved a table for 2 early so that we could enjoy this great meal, we had an elevated table with a view of the outside, we each ordered a large Eifel light beer, which was very tasty, we ordered and then ate the fillet of the Duroc pig National Park (with braised onions, mushrooms and herb butter and a grill plate with 3 various beef steaks and the same side dishes as with the Duroc fillet, the taste and quality of the food as well as the quantity were excellent, the service from the employees was very attentive and friendly, we were completely satisfied, you should make a reservation early, absolutely recommended*****

Reservations for delicious food are required

The food is okay and tastes good, you would like a little more pizzazz, at least with the schnitzels, it's quite simple. Unfortunately, the offering is not quite what you would expect from a brewery and the ambience is only remotely that of a classic brewery.

I have eaten there more often, always everything to my liking and delicious, today I ate schnitzel, to be honest it was very dry and not really tasty, so there is certainly no reason not to go there anymore, just don't order schnitzel anymore but order something else from the menu. Normally 5 stars for the food, but only 3 because of the schnitzel

Beer great, service very nice, ambience, pleasant, food unfortunately only snack bar quality. Our schnitzels were completely drowned in hollandaise sauce, with no mushrooms or onions to be seen let alone tasted.

The food and service are great. We have often ordered our food in advance, picked it up and eaten it at home. All highly recommended. However, when the store is full, it is noisy and conversations are hardly possible. A few hikers came in for a table and were then directed to a table with time information. Personally, I don't think it's that nice. Spaces should also be kept free for spontaneous visitors, right?
