The schnitzel is highly recommended there! Delicious!

The schnitzel and thick dumplings are good and tasty. The spit roast and Agnus beef steak are unfortunately not so good; they're very peppery, and the beef is very thick and not particularly tender. The drinks, spritzers, and salad are excellent.

We ordered a takeaway coffee for the playground in the morning and drinks in the afternoon. The staff was very friendly, and the location was well-kept and pretty. We would have preferred a "real" ice cream sundae for the kids, but at least there was a vending machine. Lunch, at least on the plates of the other visitors, looked very good.

Idyllic and quiet location. Plenty of parking. The service is friendly and courteous. The dishes all arrived at the same time and were prepared to perfection. We'd be happy to return.

Unfortunately, opening hours are unavailable online, and the restaurant's absence is also unknown. Various media outlets advertised otherwise. So, last week I stood in front of the door twice for nothing. I really wanted to relive the excellent skewers from a few years ago and share my experience with someone else, but the second week of August 25th proved impossible. Every restaurant that could have served it was closed. I hope to be able to visit a restaurant that was open again in the future. The museum and shop were a good experience, despite the road being partially closed.

Beautiful beer garden in a great location, surrounded by nature. The grilled dishes from the rotisserie are especially recommended. Also, the service is excellent and the staff is friendly. The value for money is excellent.

We were there on the evening of July 24, 2025, and ate spit roast after riding hundreds of kilometers on our motorcycles. The food was fabulous, the service was super friendly, and the prices were great. Highly recommended.

We were here today with 11 people with mental and physical disabilities. We had a reservation in advance and had a wonderful evening there. This restaurant is very well-suited for wheelchair users and people with walking frames. It's completely accessible without steps or obstacles. There's also a disabled toilet. We received wonderful, friendly service. The food was delicious and plentiful. Everything from light and healthy to hearty options is available. Vegetarians are also well catered for. Many thanks to Thomas and his team for the wonderful service.

This was the best meal we've had in a long time! Everything is just perfect here: a hospitable chef, everyone is very child-friendly and communicative (there's a playground right next door). The restaurant is beautifully located on the Weiherschleife (river loop) and offers regional specialties such as spit roast and stuffed dumplings. The meat is cooked over an open flame, and you can even admire it. The service is excellent, and even the kids loved the food and the great restaurant! The restaurant is busy, and we were lucky to get a seat without a reservation. It was recommended to us by locals. We will definitely come back!

A lovely little playground with a nest swing, climbing frame, two slides, and a sandbox. Partially shaded. The restaurant is right next door. Plenty of seating is available.

Today (May 18, 2025) we were taken here. Thanks to our lovely guides from Idar-Oberstein 😉 A great location by the pond. Friendly service. The drinks were delivered promptly. We ate a spit roast and a Kindskopp (a kind of head of pork). The spit roast was simply delicious. Tender and well-seasoned. My wife couldn't finish the Kindskopp, it was so big. We hadn't seen anything like it in Berlin, let alone eaten it. A real treat. Regional and super delicious 😋. It was the crowning conclusion to a great weekend here.

Everything has been praised several times. All I can say is, "Excellent" in all categories.

The Idar-Obersteiner spit roast 350 grams prepared over the charcoal grill is a special treat for the palate.

We were here with the children on Saturday afternoon and drank fruit spritzers and coffee. The service was super attentive and nice, there is a nice playground right next to the restaurant. The food looked good and it seems to be popular among the locals. A nice atmosphere by the pond.

I was just there for dinner. The food was excellent, with very generous portions, superb flavor, the service was top-notch, and the ambiance was just perfect. It was a bit chilly today to sit outside, but sitting outside in the summer, right by the pond, is certainly worth a visit in itself. And then there's the excellent food, which of course tastes just as delicious inside—what more could you ask for? A wonderful host with a great team. We liked it very much. The beer, tasty and well chilled. The food was very tasty. We had the Hackedotz with mushrooms, flamed potatoes and radish salad. And the stuffed dumplings with meat, which is highly recommended. Simply very good!😋

Just always a secret. Spessbrore and radish salad, what more do you need to be happy? Ok, a Kirner Pils with it! The lasagna was perfect too! And for dessert a delicious nut-chocolate-cherry cake. It was great and delicious again

Very friendly boss, everything is very child-friendly, plus delicious food

Despite the large group (there were 60 of us), we were able to eat à la carte. The meat, vegetables and salads were freshly prepared. The portions were absolutely sufficient. There was also a large selection of drinks. In the summer you can sit outside with a view of the pond. A reservation is also recommended during the week.

Unfriendly! We should please take a seat outside! Inside, everything was free except for one table! After I had persuaded my wife to "stay" and sit outside, despite the fresh weather, the waiter was so overwhelmed with the question of a children's chair that he didn't even come back! After about 1 minute we went somewhere else!

Sat upstairs, food was OK or good (3.5), service was nice but could have come more often (4), ambience is OK (3). So all in all you can eat well there.

A good address for a nice evening. The food is beautifully prepared and very tasty. The stuffed dumplings are huge, so you have to have them several times because you're happy to have the leftovers wrapped up. The spit roast had real fire and was wonderfully juicy, so it wasn't fried dry. With the potatoes and the herb curd it's a real treat, just the way you want it. The staff is friendly and helpful, but not intrusive. The timing of the dishes is great. Dishes with different cooking times were also brought to the table at the same time, so that you can eat together with several people. The service team took great care of the entire restaurant and outside tables without causing any rush. And every order was implemented promptly. As mentioned at the beginning, it was a lovely evening with great service.

We were warmly welcomed and although everything was reserved, we were allowed to sit down for a moment and enjoy a hot drink. The staff were very friendly. Next time we'll make a reservation and stay for dinner!

After a trip to the gemstone mine, we found super friendly staff, delicious food and a nice restaurant with a playground. We had a great stay and would love to come back on our next trip to Idar Oberstein.

I'm thrilled - I discovered a clue more or less by chance when visiting Steinkaulenberg. Staff very friendly - boss too - they take care of the guests directly, even when there is a lot going on. My Obersteiner spit roast fresh from the open fire. Perfectly grilled and delicious - I would have loved to lick the plate. Radish salad homemade and delicious. My wife's currywurst with very good sauce. Was also very good. We were completely satisfied and would like to come again, even if it is a 1.5 hour drive.

We were there in the evening with our dog and it was very nice. We were asked which place would be best for us with a dog. He also got water. The food was super tasty, grilled. The meat is tender and the side dish is plentiful and tasty. Gladly again!

The food was very good and fresh! You could regularly hear the schnitzel being pounded :) The breading of the schnitzel was nice and crispy and the schnitzel wasn't too thick and nice and tender. The stuffed dumpling is also highly recommended and you can't say anything about the price! We'd love to come back!

Unfortunately only one star, the atmosphere was really nice. We personally asked if we could still make a reservation for this evening. The young lady, who barely managed to look up, just said she didn't have anything free left. A table might be free at a later date, so we could call. Gave us the business card with the announcement that no one would probably answer it anyway. Super unprofessional, we would have come at a later date. It was not possible to ask that at all. Sad. You will never have us as guests.

Had this huge dumpling with a ham and cream sauce. The taste was good (a dumpling with minced meat filling) 👍🏻 but hardly manageable for one person. The waiting time of 45 minutes was just okay.

Juice shop. The boss was totally unfriendly, quickly became aggressive, almost physically violent towards his customers and you couldn't make excuses to describe the problem. Food was burnt dough raw, salmonella inevitable.

Food was very tasty. However, the staff differentiates strongly between regular customers and first-time visitors. This is not very kind to the latter. No one asked for more drinks, let alone came to the table. They brought the applesauce with the dumpling 30 minutes before the main meal, so that logically all the wasps in the area were present during the meal.
