I ordered sausage salad with fries. Only the fries came, since they weren't cold, so I started. The sausage salad was simply forgotten. I pointed it out to them, but two waitresses seemed overwhelmed. I had to find another restaurant with decent service. Next time, we'll cycle by. The waitress explained that he hadn't understood me properly. I couldn't speak more German than that.

I think the location is very nice and I always take my dates there with very positive feedback. People who have lived here for years are particularly enthusiastic because they never expected to find such a beautiful destination, as it is somewhat tucked away in the middle of the countryside. A farm with a manure heap in the yard is unfortunately a rarity here, especially. You only find something like that these days in the Allgäu or the depths of the Black Forest. I can't recommend the restaurant in winter because, as already mentioned, the food doesn't really entice you there, which I think is a shame. The place thrives on cyclists in the warmer months. Very nice beer garden. Super nice outdoor atmosphere for a drink and a snack. I think there is room for improvement when it comes to the food, though, and I can't understand why they don't make more of an effort. It is very busy in the summer months, however, and it is dead in the winter, and it could be that the food is what is attracting no one there. So please, dear owners, you are sitting on a gold mine and don't let it go to waste. I'd rather have fewer but good products. There's a farm shop in the neighborhood. How does cooperation work there? I would definitely pay a bit more because it's a really beautiful place that radiates a lot of peace and quiet between Heidelberg and Mannheim.

The change of tenant, as reported in the newspaper, has had a negative impact on the quality. Despite the fact that the tenants were supposedly the former Stift Neuburg monastery in Heidelberg, nothing remains. The food is overpriced, and no masks are worn when interacting with customers.

High price for mediocre food, absolutely disappointing and not recommended! It didn't taste homemade, more like ready-made meals. The daily special, "beef goulash," for €21, wasn't nearly filling; it was served with only a few pieces of meat. No wonder the waitress didn't ask if the food was tasty. Only the ambiance outside by the Neckar River was nice. Okay for a refreshing drink.

What happened to the Anker? It used to be a great place for a cozy sit by the Neckar River and a good meal. We were horrified today! The beer garden was correspondingly very empty for a Saturday evening. The service is abysmal, they don't speak or understand German, and they misunderstand your order. The quality of the food is also poor. There's hardly any cooked cheese on the schnitzel, so reordering costs extra. The schnitzel and fries are rather dry. The music was like a finely chopped onion. Simply disappointing. We used to love going here.

Since the Easter decorations are still hanging, one can assume that there was a change of ownership around Easter. The cheese spaetzle are from the supermarket and simply topped with grated cheese. €15.90 for them is outrageous. I had given a €3 tip, then he chased me because he allegedly undercharged me by €9. In retrospect, I wouldn't have tipped.

Today, on a bike ride, we stopped at the Gaststätte zum Anker restaurant. It's located directly on the bike path along the Neckar River. We were in the beer garden, where you can sit at quite pleasant, rustic beer tables. The Neckar River, however, isn't visible. There's a simple menu featuring only the typical fare. Additionally, a few dishes were listed on a blackboard as daily recommendations. The service initially made a good impression, as drinks and food were served quickly. The drinks also arrived in a still-acceptable time. The food took a while. Even cold appetizers (cooked cheese) took over half an hour!? We opted for "homemade sausage salad," but that also took a long time to arrive. In terms of taste, I rate the sausage salad as a convenience item, spiced up with a few strips of bell pepper. The cucumbers were soggy and overall, it wasn't well-seasoned. It came with three slices of bread that weren't particularly fresh. The portion was rather small and not appropriate for the price. In my defense, I must say that someone at the table had Wiener Schnitzel with fries: the portion was large and the price was reasonable. Overall, a very mixed impression.

The seating was nice, the service was friendly, but the food was unfortunately not good – the "fried onions" on the cheese spaetzle were old, hard, lumps of fat that didn't taste like onions, and the spaetzle were very runny. The Anker was always a popular destination on our bike tours. We enjoyed a wine spritzer there to refresh ourselves. Unfortunately, this was probably the last time we'll do this again. The price for a wine spritzer is so exorbitantly inflated that I couldn't believe my ears. When I asked the waiter about it, he simply said it was on the menu. Sorry, but €7.90 (just under €16, since there were two of us)...that's unacceptable! You don't even pay that much in upscale restaurants in the Palatinate! What a shame!! But if you really want to keep scaring away your customers like this, you just have to keep doing it (see the recent reviews).

Of almost 20 reviews on Trppadvisor over the past two years, only one received more than one star. If you read this before your visit, please don't listen to the fake reviews. The food and service are truly terrible. The service was rude and disinterested – even the welcome left a lot to be desired. We had to wait over an hour for our food, and the wait was by no means worth it: The supposedly homemade potato salad was clearly pre-made, the sauce was oversalted and also obviously pre-made, the fries were soft and sloppy, and the side salad was watery and poorly prepared. The many positive reviews can only come from the previous owner – they certainly can't be explained by the current quality. I'd have to pay money to come back. It's a shame, because the place actually has potential. Edit: According to the other bad reviews, there are quite a few foodies in the region. Perhaps it's also due to your cuisine.

Der angeblich hausgemachte Kartoffelsalat war klar erkennbar Fertigware aus dem Eimer, die Sauce stark übersalzen und ebenfalls industriell vorgefertigt. Die Pommes kamen weich und labberig auf den Tisch, der Beilagensalat war wässrig und lieblos angerichtet. Was zusätzlich stutzig macht: Zahlreiche Freunde und Bekannte berichten, dass ihre negativen Bewertungen nach kurzer Zeit verschwunden sind – auch bei uns war das der Fall. Ruft man das Restaurant über einen anderen Account auf, fehlen plötzlich viele kritische Rezensionen. Der Verdacht liegt nahe, dass hier systematisch nachgeholfen wird, um das Bewertungsbild zu schönen. Die vielen positiven Bewertungen wirken unter diesen Umständen noch fragwürdiger – sie scheinen kaum zur tatsächlichen Qualität zu passen.

It was nice, but the waiter wasn't friendly and helpful. He was reluctant to return a forgotten hat to its owner, as he didn't want to pick up scraps of paper that flew off the table. And he rounded up the bill himself.

The beer garden is beautifully situated on the Neckar, but that's all it is. The food is nothing special and the service is nonexistent. The beer garden was maybe 20% full, and I had to wait 20 minutes before someone came for drinks. I wouldn't recommend coming here.

Slow service. Waited for food for about an hour. Chicken salad was very average. Waiter forgot my son's dish and he didn't eat at all, even though he is only four years old. Staff did not apologize or offer compensation. In the end we left hungry. The owner of the restaurant, instead of fixing the problems, deletes reviews on Google via complaints.

We ate at Anker today. The food was okay, and the service was really friendly. However, we can only give it three stars overall. They use a lot of convenience products, and the farmhouse bread turns out to be industrially produced bread from the supermarket. Unfortunately, the vinegar essences on the table also had a few flies, and both the table and the menu could have been cleaner. Overall, the price doesn't seem entirely justified for the offering, even though the dishes are freshly prepared but not all of them are actually homemade. The location and the view are really nice, but in the future, we would go there for a drink rather than a meal.

Bei diesem Besuch wurde ich so herablassend, respektlos und unmotiviert bedient, wie ich es noch nie in einem Lokal erlebt habe. Der Hof ist immer ein schönes Ziel für die Radtour gewesen. Diesmal hat es mir gründlich die Stimmung versaut. Nach 15min bei fast leerem Biergarten machte ich mich bemerkbar, es wurde abgewunken: entspannt am Handy lesen war wichtiger. Immerhin kam das Essen in normaler Zeit. Ganze Sätze gab es nicht, nur hingeworfene Worte im herablassendem Ton. Nach dem Zahlen drehte sich der bedienende Inhaber wortlos um und ging. Brauch ich nicht nochmal. Selbst die Gäste am Nachbartisch waren entsetzt und überlegten, direkt wieder zu gehen.

We ate one sausage salad with bread, one cooked cheese with bread, and one Maultaschen with gravy and potato salad. The sausage salad was very small and came with three half slices of standard bread. It tasted like pre-packaged bread from the supermarket. The cooked cheese was passable, and the bread was identical to the other dish. The Maultaschen were OK, but overall they could have been seasoned a bit better (always a matter of taste). The service was quick at first, and the drinks arrived very quickly, but after that, we had to speak to her because she didn't notice any signals or anything. All in all, it was okay, but we wouldn't go back again just because of the ambiance. Furthermore, the prices are unfortunately very high. €7.90 for a wine spritzer and €4.90 for a 0.4L drink... What a shame.

The seating is very nice, but unfortunately the service is abysmal. One waitress only clears plates, and you're not allowed to order drinks from her. The waitress responsible for food and drinks forgot that we wanted to order something 20 seconds after we said we wanted to order something else, walked away, and never came back. When we asked about it again, the order was noted, but it never arrived, and so we were left without drinks. My Wiener Schnitzel with hunter's sauce was a pre-made schnitzel with pre-made sauce. The fries were good, as was the tarte flambée, and it looked homemade, too. I wouldn't go back again, despite the beautiful location.

Unfortunately, I can't recommend it. Unhappy customers. They constantly ask for their order, which didn't arrive after an hour and a half. The food arrived after 45 minutes, and then we had to get our own drinks.

We’ve waited for the ordered food for an hour. They forgot to bring food for my baby which I ordered. My salad with chicken was so awful, I’ve never tried such low quality salad. Veggies were old and looked not fresh, the chicken was over salted.

It was a spontaneous visit to the beer garden. The waitresses were friendly and polite. (One, however, was a bit overwhelmed ;-) ) The drinks were well chilled. We ordered a "salad variation" with farmhouse bread... Price: €11.90! For that, we got: a green salad (with a few brown leaves) with a rather watery dressing, two slices of cucumber (they were limp), three tomato quarters, a few onions, a pile of potato salad (definitely not homemade, although the waitress swore it was), and two half slices of bread (they were already dried on one side... and the kind you buy pre-packaged at the supermarket). My opinion of the salad was taken into account, and the waitress apologized. I also wanted to pass it on to the kitchen. I think (reading the reviews here) that won't happen, or no one cares. We certainly won't eat there again!

Unfortunately, I can't recommend this beer garden. The location is nice, but the food quality is poor, and the prices are rather high. Our server was attentive and kept a clear overview, while the second server was a bit disorganized. It's a shame.

Actually, it's a very nice beer garden. We were guided by the Google stars... Maybe we should have read them more carefully beforehand! The welcome wasn't so friendly. My husband's schnitzel with cooked cheese, fries, and a really small side salad was okay. My Maultaschen were okay, but I haven't had such a terrible potato salad in a long time; it definitely wasn't homemade! The service was very disorganized; our first apple wine spritzer came with ice cubes, but unfortunately, the second one didn't. The next table ordered a wine spritzer, but it wasn't served until the bill arrived... Perhaps they should revise the "homemade" menu!

Service ist unterirdisch schlecht. Wie kann man bei drei Essen nur zwei bringen und das dritte einfach vergessen? Zumal dieses Gericht explizit ohne eine Komponente, wie in der Speisekarte beschrieben, bestellt wurde. Die zweiten Getränke kamen auch nur nach nochmaligem Nachfragen (20min.) Eigentlich hat dieses Lokal die Lizenz zum Gelddrucken. Man muß sich nur bemühen.

My salad plate with goat cheese was a huge disappointment. This salad was more expensive than the meat side dish and came with a small goat cheese and two forks each of potato salad and coleslaw. The rest was filled with green salad that hadn't been cleaned properly! I mentioned it to the waiter—they'll make sure it's cleaned better next time, and the goat cheese already costs €6 to buy—because I thought two of the small goat cheeses on the plate for €17.20 would be appropriate. The two thin slices of bread that came with it were unfortunately already starting to dry out.

I've known the Anker for decades. The location and the general ambiance of the beer garden are absolutely top-notch. That's why I always go back when the weather's nice. I've been there three times in the last few weeks. Each time, I was served by young men in sweatpants. One of them has a pretty good overview, while everyone else runs around aimlessly. Dirty dishes and glasses are left or temporarily stored on a side table in the middle of the beer garden, which leaves a rather unappetizing impression. The wheat beer tastes really bad. The glass says Heidelberger. The sausage salad with fries is edible, but I wouldn't call it good or even very good. Waiting times are acceptable. In conclusion: the service and quality don't live up to the beer garden atmosphere. What a shame! It used to be much better!

Great, it was really nice and cozy. The service was friendly. The menu was original, with everything from seasonal to regional dishes. There were four of us and we all had different dishes. We were all thrilled with the taste, quality, and price! We'll be back often!

Über den Laden ist eigentlich schon alles geschrieben : Schlechtes Essen , schlechter Service und obendrein zu teuer Willkommen geheißen wird man nur auf der Homepage .In live hat man deutlich den Eindruck das man stört . Ich weiß das es schwer ist in der Gastronomie gutes Personal zu bekommen , aber dass vom Anker würde von jedem zweiten auf der Straße leicht getoppt .

Today was our first and unfortunately also our last visit. The restaurant is beautifully located on the Neckar and can be easily reached by bike. We found the restaurant online and based on the website, our expectations of the dishes were a little higher. I also really liked the little card. Unfortunately the quality was disappointing. The side salad was fresh and crunchy, but the salad dressing was rather tasteless. Fries were soggy and the seasoning was poorly distributed. Schnitzel and sauce gave the impression of convenience products. Taste OK, but absolutely nothing special. The two requests for ketchup for the children were ignored, so we had to get it ourselves. When it came time to pay, the two service employees sat down at a table for a cigarette break and steadfastly ignored everyone waving. Again we had to actively approach the employees. I understand that after a long and tiring day, service employees want to and are allowed to take a breather for 5 minutes and maybe have a smoke, but this shouldn't happen directly in the guests' field of vision.

Always a beautiful beer garden that is worth every visit. Unfortunately, the quality of the food has declined in recent years in inverse proportion to the rising prices - so the price-performance ratio of food and drinks is rather suboptimal. That would be tolerated given the good location - if the service, which was two thirds of the way communication-free due to a lack of knowledge of German, wasn't incredibly bad and at the same time presumptuous. When my food arrived well before the first drink and I asked for my drink order to be received promptly, I was told that I was the first guest to complain about eating too quickly. I hadn't at all 😝 At the next table I heard the comment (literally!): "We have something here, we call it a menu. You can order from this - special requests are not possible." Sure - ok, but you can put it another way. And those were just 2 examples. Honestly, if you don't feel like eating out, you should just leave it alone.

Absolutely exorbitant prices for wine spritzers! We were there on April 5th, 2025 and only drank a small and a large wine spritzer. Prices for this were not on the menu. When paying then the negative surprise: €13.80!!! When I commented that this was pretty expensive, all I got were pseudo-funny comments about the view and such nonsense. Never again with this host!

How can someone work in service who is so extremely condescending, disrespectful and unmotivated in their entire posture and language? The farm has always been a nice destination for bike rides. This time it really ruined my mood. After 15 minutes in an almost empty beer garden, I made myself known and it was waved off: reading in a relaxed manner on my cell phone was more important. At least the food came in a normal time. There were no complete sentences, just thrown words in a condescending tone. After paying, the gentleman turned around without a word and left. I don't need it again. Even the guests at the next table were horrified and considered leaving straight away. The boss's reactions here say a lot.

Fantastic location and friendly service, the restaurant and beer garden is right across the road from the river and is on popular cycle paths between Heidelberg and Mannheim. The beer garden gets bathed in sunshine in the afternoon. The food is simple German cuisine. Could do with more vegetarian or vegan options.

One service for the entire beer garden. Beer warm. The schnitzels were taken away from the two neighboring tables by the waitress after two bites... beer €5.20. Tables were not cleared again. I don't need it anymore... Excessive prices for non-existent service. Just like last year. Now waiting for the threats from the owner. to allow consequences for “slander”. Do it. Very nice place for a wheat beer or wine spritzer! Good fries. Edited 2024: the new tenants are not doing a good job, the quality of food and service has suffered greatly. We'll wait and see if there will be new tenants there again next summer!

By far the worst and most disgusting restaurant I've ever been to. There was a dead fly on the table when we were seated, we had to ask three times for cutlery, the food took forever, the dining room was cold and dirty. The food arrived late and was only lukewarm, the tarte flambée was dry and the fries were completely over salted. There was still an old sauce stain on the wall next to our table and a completely dirty rag hanging over the counter (see picture). 1 star is still far too much here. Absolute impudence! Never never never again!

Basically, it is a nice restaurant that impresses with its beer garden right on the Neckar. Unfortunately, the current tenant has no customer or service awareness at all. The dining room was cold. The reason we were told was that the heating didn't turn on because of the outside sensor, which can be regulated if you want to make your guests happy. Overall, the restaurant cannot be recommended at all. We very much hope that another tenant will come soon. We used to go there often as a large group of 15 - 20 people, which also brings in a lot of sales, but we'd rather save ourselves the trip now.

After more than 15 minutes, the waitress came and asked us if we wanted to order anything else. Food came after a while. Food is not hot but already cooled down. Discovered in the hair of the fries. All tables completely dirty. We observed how the table at the neighboring table, where new guests were already sitting, was "wiped" with two short wipers. Napkins from previous guests remained on the floor. Prices for apple juice spritzer 4.60 shandy 5.20. Food is absolutely overpriced. It's a shame about the great location. Check back in 10 years.

Wir kamen mit der Fahrradgruppe von Ludwigshafen nach Heidelberg an dem schönen Biergarten vorbei. Das Ambiente hat uns zur Rast eingeladen. Der Biergarten war gut besucht. Die Getränkebestellung war schnell abgewickelt und mit dem Essen hat es auch gut geklappt. Wir hatten unterschiedliche Gerichte bestellt und jeder war mit der Portion und dem Geschmack zufrieden.
