Review of the Waldschenke in the Halberstadt Animal Enclosure ⭐ Our visit was unfortunately very disappointing. Food: The fries seemed like they had been left over from the previous guest and simply reheated. They were very hard and barely edible. Hygiene: The handling of food was questionable – the fries were handled immediately after a cigarette, which appears unprofessional and unhygienic. Furthermore, the kitchen appeared very dirty. Prices: Charging €7 for a bottle of water doesn't seem appropriate to us. Constructive advice: With fresh food, more attention to hygiene, and fairer prices, the Waldschenke could certainly be a nice place to linger – especially in combination with the animal enclosure. Given the current situation, we unfortunately cannot recommend a visit.

As soon as a few more people join the queue... disaster! Completely uncoordinated food preparation and distribution. A 30-minute wait... Bockwurst cold inside. Drinks cost €3.50 for a 0.3-liter cup of soda from a 1.5-liter bottle. This spoils an otherwise wonderful visit to the animal enclosure.

Wait times were too long, toast with the sausage was only available upon request. Toast was frozen, and still drinks were already completely stale. It's a shame! It wasn't busy, so something like this shouldn't have happened.

If you like waiting 45 minutes for a portion of fries and sitting on overgrown benches, this is the place for you!

Mr. Axel Vogel, I don't know when you were there, but from what we saw last Sunday, the young woman there actually has two deep fryers and my mother thought the pancakes were delicious. Everyone should be aware that you can't expect Michelin-starred cuisine from a "snack bar". Yes, the dining room inside was unusable, but there were no grills there, just a kind of table for celebrations. It was Easter and it was really busy, so it was a real hustle and bustle. The only thing we found unfortunate was that my little one couldn't eat any nuggets because they had run out. The ketchup packet was really past its best before date, but my goodness, just throw the packet away and that's it.... The only thing we noticed is that the owner could do better by employing more staff for events like this.

Based on the photos and descriptions, the positive reviews here refer to a different restaurant, as the Waldschenke restaurant's location was originally displayed incorrectly on Google. One of the worst experiences I've had with a snack bar. The Waldschenke restaurant is completely run-down; it lacks any atmosphere. The hot food is fried, and the potato pancakes taste like bratwurst, as they apparently only use a deep fryer with old fat. Seating is only available outside. The interior is a storage room. The prices weren't even close to what you get. €7 for a mini meatball and potato salad with no noticeable flavor is a disgrace. Overall: I would advise against a visit. There are better options for a snack outside the zoo.

We were there on April 3, 2023. There was only one snack bar open at the window with a corresponding offering. It wasn't possible to put it in because an anniversary party was being prepared for the boss. This probably only took place a few days later.....well. Some prices are completely overpriced, e.g. €5 for a non-alcoholic wheat beer. Not a single table or chair was clean in the beer garden, on the contrary, it was dirty and full of tree debris. Nothing changed during our presence. We helped ourselves, but that's not possible. There were no toilets nearby either, only at the entrance to the zoo. The toilet a few steps away was closed. Service looks different. Maybe everyone involved hasn't fully woken up from hibernation yet? If I go there again, I will take a close look at the conditions before I order anything.

Wir sind spontan nach einem ausgiebigen Spaziergang vor Ort eingekehrt. Sehr freundliche und schnelle Bedienung, kleine Karte mit ausgewählten Gerichten zu fairen Preisen, alles sehr sauber. Draußen kann man auf einer schönen Terrasse an einem Garten mit Spielbereich für Kinder sitzen. Das Essen war schön angerichtet und sehr lecker. Wir kommen gerne wieder beim nächsten Ausflug.

Bedienung war sehr freundlich, Essen hat geschmeckt. Für mich haben nur die Sitzkissen im Außenbereich gefehlt. Hätt man aber sicher auf Anfrage bekommen

Nach einem Besuch in Tierpark ist eine Einkehr in die Waldschenke eine gute Alternative, wenn man mehr als einen Imbiss möchte. Die Speisen werden frisch zubereitet und ansprechend garniert. Einige Gerichte hätten etwas mehr Würze vertragen können. Die Preise sind durchschnittlich und somit in Ordnung. Es war sauber und die Bedienung freundlich. Was will man mehr.

War heute mit meiner Enkelin zu Gast. Es hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Sehr nette Gastgeber, leckeres Essen. Wir kommen gern wieder.

Das Essen war sehr lecker und es war schön angerichtet. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich. Draußen gab es noch einen Spielplatz. Perfekt 😁
