Eaten here a handful of times before and each time has been delightful. I typically have the tendency to last minute plan but the staff was accommodating considering how busy they were. Good selection of wines and beers, food each time has been tasteful and hardy, the staff is consistently friendly, and the atmosphere is overall easy going. Schnitzel, farmers plate, rump steak, and many more dishes I’ve had are easily recommended. Also cannot go wrong finishing off the meal with an apple strudel. Perfect place for a local night to dine or to bring a friend that is visiting Germany!

The Spinnrädl is a small but fine restaurant. It's cozy and the food tastes great! In addition to hearty meat dishes, there are also vegetarian and some vegan dishes. The staff was very nice and accommodating and was able to answer any questions we had about the food. The restaurant is located in the city center and there is no parking directly at the restaurant.

The food wasn't excellent, but that was better. It's a shame. And it was very loud because of the guests who were here.

The Spinnrädl is really a hit if you're looking for typical Palatinate food and a cozy atmosphere! We had a cream schnitzel with spaetzle and cheese spaetzle – and I have to say, it was really tasty. The cream schnitzel was tender and perfectly seasoned, the sauce was nice and creamy, and the spaetzle with it was simply great. The cheese spaetzle were super hearty, exactly how they should be! The atmosphere in the restaurant is totally rustic and cozy - you immediately feel at home. What's particularly cool: The wine selection is huge and there are great wines directly from the region. You can just tell that the focus here is on quality and regional ingredients. All in all a really nice evening, I can absolutely recommend it – we’ll definitely be back!

Very nice place. Decent menu selection. I had a steak and it was delicious paired with Fries. Eating outside was a nice touch. The restaurant is cozy as well. Their flammkuchen that NY coworker tried was also delicious and crispy. It was a sweet version that tasted like a cinnamon bun. Worth a try with some friends

A cozy traditional Palatinate restaurant. I had the liver dumpling and sausage with sauerkraut and potatoes - very good and savory! My wife and brother enjoyed the schnitzel and the kids liked the spätzle a lot. Friendly staff and fast service. Highly recommend!

Cozy atmosphere in the oldest residential building in Kaiserslautern. You step back in time when you enter this half timbered restaurant. The service was wonderful. We went on a Monday night right when they opened at 5:00 and all the tables we saw were reserved. However, we were seated at a table immediately that didn’t have a reservation until 7:30. The server was prompt to take our drink order and switched to speaking German when she heard us ordering in German. This is rare in Kaiserslautern and appreciated. The pumpkin soup was delicious and the farmer salad with bacon and potatoes was fresh and filling. The steaks were cooked a perfect medium and very juicy. The fried potatoes were flavorful and cooked with a little crispiness, not too soft. The price was compared to high quality of food. We left full and happy and will definitely be back again.

This is a traditional German food and beer restaurant. The meat dishes, sausages, and daily soups are all delicious. The portions of each item are large, so think of it as a special portion based on a standard Japanese restaurant. It costs 55€ for two people to eat a full meal, and the cost performance is also good.

It is THE address in Kaiserslautern for regional dishes. We went there twice. Due to the limited number of places, reservations are recommended at certain times. We were served very courteously and enjoyed our time there. The ambience in this historic inn is very nice.

Lautern is my second home I go there almost every year and that includes the SPINNRÄDEL. I was there with my mother ages ago. It was the first time that I didn't like the liver dumpling. Not fluffy, but pressed... it doesn't work at all As a Palatinate resident you know this. Otherwise, thank God, almost everything is the same remained as before. One of my best culinary experiences I have ever had, everything I ate typical of Germany is delicious, but above all the dessert, it looks like a pizza that it is not, with apple, banana, cinnamon and a sauce that I don't know, all of it au gratin and baked, spectacular. Now the second time and never again. We were strolling in Kaiserslautern and passed the Spinnradl. On the menu we discovered pork fillet spaetzle, gratinated with cheese, which they called “Spinnradl Pfanne”. So we ordered two Radler and two Spinnradl pans. When the food came it looked good, but unfortunately the meat was inedible, very dry, and the smell wasn't normal either. The cheese spaetzle with cheese gratin could have been delicious if a brown ready-made sauce from the package had not been used. We informed the waitress that this was the second time we had had this happen and that the food just didn't taste good. The waitress said she would inform the boss, but no boss came. We just wanted to pay and the waitress couldn't offer us anything other than the finished schnitzel last time and the spoiled pork fillet this time. We were just disappointed. --- I hope this helps you!

Cult restaurant in Kaiserslautern with Palatinate cuisine and wines

If I get my food in a busy restaurant just over 5 minutes after ordering, then I have to ask the legitimate question about freshness. The oven roast was quite hard and tasteless, sauce was almost non-existent and the snowballs were completely seasonless and too firm. You could tell the food was warmed up. The bright spot was the tasty, warmed red cabbage. You should invest something in the sometimes shabby atmosphere.

An absolute gem! The food was phenomenal. I can only recommend it to anyone who likes German cuisine. The service was also great, unfortunately you don't experience that so often anymore. I will come again, guaranteed!

Everything was very good. However, there was one big drawback: the schnitzels. The waitress assured us that the schnitzels were homemade. Unfortunately, this turned out to be untrue because it was Fertig Schnitzel. This was a big disappointment, especially given the otherwise high quality of the food. We had been looking forward to authentic, freshly prepared schnitzel and felt deceived by the false statement from the waiter. It's a shame that this incident marred the overall experience as the restaurant was otherwise welcoming and the atmosphere pleasant. Hopefully in the future more emphasis will be placed on honesty and transparency so that such disappointments can be avoided. Overall, good food with a serious minus point for the schnitzels and the honesty of the staff, thank you very much

Atmosphere was great but food was not that good. Very mediocre. I had the rahm schnitzel and spatezle and found it to be very average.

Historic house with good quality food. Palatinate regional cuisine at fair prices with good portion sizes. You can sit inside and outside, even large groups have space. All employees are very friendly, helpful and flexible. There's nothing to complain about here. Just feel good!

Nice, Uhrigs restaurant in the city center. Good selection of local food and nice staff. However, I found the preparation of the food not quite optimal. A little under-seasoned and too dry, so nothing special.

Took visitors here on a Monday evening. Service and atmosphere were awesome. However, the food left something to be desired. Small portions for BIG prices. My food was lukewarm at best. Food quality was less than expected. In the future will be taking guests to other restaurants where food is much better and the prices are more reasonable.

Reservation is a must, as this place is often packed and known as one of the better local cuisine spots... The food was served very quickly, but not very hot. Unfortunately, it was a bit bland for my liking. I had high hopes for the spinach dumpling with shaved parmesan, but it left something to be desired. Positives - Lively Atmosphere and Fast Service Negative - The 4 dishes I tried left something to be desired and was served warm.

We had a pleasant evening with good Palatinate cuisine with an optimal price-performance ratio, consistently friendly and courteous service (even though the hut was full), and a delicious selection of beers and wines. The only thing that wasn't quite ideal for us was that there was really zero time between courses. A few minutes in between would be pleasant if you sat comfortably together.

The meat was very dry and portions were smaller than usual (still not small). Downstairs was very noisy but upstairs is so quiet you better bring your own entertainment. Service, wine and appetizers were great, but that doesn't make up for the bland main course. There's better options close by.

On Saturday we discovered this restaurant through Google Maps. The dishes were very appealing. It was around 2 p.m. and we got a spot, and there was a lot more room. The service was great, I've rarely seen such friendly people (students). The food was quick, freshly prepared and super tasty. Prices more than okay. We recommend!!

While looking for a restaurant with Palatinate cuisine, I came across the Spinnrädl. The restaurant is located in the oldest half-timbered house in Kaiserslautern. Although it was busy at lunchtime, we still found space upstairs. It's very cozy here. The staff was very attentive despite the stress. The food was very tasty. We chose the Palatinate plate and the pea soup. The food on the neighboring tables also looked very tempting. The selection of fine wines is also commendable. If we are in Kaiserslautern again, we will definitely visit the Spinnrädl.

Das Ambiente ist sehr gut, leider war beim letzten Besuch das Essen etwas fade was ansonsten nicht so ist.

Essen war OK aber mit einem Wareneinsatz von 3 Euro kann ich die 14,90 für einen Schafskäse der eher eine Vorspeise war nicht nachvollziehen. Service hat ziemlich lange gedauert und es wurde ständig etwas vergessen. Die Lication ist sehr schön und zentral gelegen.

very good local German restaurant. The place is cozy and nostalgic. The food is good, They make the most delicious liver dumpling soup.

Wir hatten die Käsespätzle und einen Flammkuchen. Das Essen war für uns alle ok. Aber hat uns nicht vom Stuhl gerissen. Den Spätzle fehlte etwas geschmacklich. Zum Dessert gab es den Schokokuchen. Dieser war auch nur in Ordnung und hat uns auch nicht so richtig überzeugt. Der Service war richtig freundlich und sehr nett. Das Essen bekommt 3 Sterne und der Service 5 Sterne. Wir werden wohl eher nicht nochmal wiederkommen.

Gutes Essen, mussten trotz größer Gruppe nicht lange warten. War ein toller Abend

Wir waren als Gruppe in einem kleinen Raum, der für die reservierte Menge an Menschen definitiv nicht gereicht hätte. Zum Glück muss man sagen, dass 3 Leute spontan absageb mussten. Wir waren mit 12 Leuten da. Wir haben uns in dem Raum eingeengt gefühlt. Es saßen noch vier Leute mit in dem Raum, die ihr Essen haben stehen lassen und mit dem Service unzufrieden waren (das sagt vermutlich schon alles). Ein Essen und ein Getränk wurden vergessen (passiert). Die Spinatknödel waren trocken. Kann man nicht empfehlen. Die Bedienungen waren überfordert (dafür können die Bedienungen nichts, der Laden war einfach überbucht). Insgesamt sehr enttäuschend. Werden wir nicht mehr machen. Auf der Weinkarte waren extrem viele Weine ausverkauft. Wie kann das sein? Wird die Karte einmal im Jahr gedruckt und nur im Januar Wein bestellt und Karten gedruckt? Also leider nicht verständlich woher fie guten Bewertungen kommen.

The authentic German experience we were looking for in downtown Kaiserslautern. We asked our waiter for a traditional experience so after our meal, he brought out the digestive they enjoy after their meals which was a hazelnut schnapps and it was delicious. The beer selection was of course delicious, the food was amazing and it was very American English speaking friendly. Loved the house this restaurant was in! Our group loved every part of this experience and yes it's not customary to tip but Justin was so friendly and helpful he all chipped in!
