This has been my local restaurant for years and I always enjoy coming back. Good food at reasonable prices and a very cozy atmosphere!

The visit was very disappointing. Very poor service, good food, but not good value for money. There are hardly any snack options like they used to in the summer. The beer was poorly poured. We won't be back!

We had dinner here on a Sunday evening, after some locals recommended it to us and it was just perfect. The place has a great variety of Bavarian dishes. Everything we had was scrumptious: Schnitzel (veal escalope), Käsespätzle (noodles with grated cheese and fried onions), and Kaiserschmarrn (fluffy shredded pancakes served with apple sauce) for dessert, along with traditional beer. The staff was super sweet and helpful. They made us feel right at home, like we were regulars. We will definitely be back!

Actually, a nice and cozy Augustiner restaurant, but the food is unfortunately not worth the money. The onion roast beef ordered medium was served overcooked. The side dishes also tasted of nothing, and the ready-made sauce was bad. Unfortunately, not a recommended location.

Traditional German restaurant. Which surprisingly is harder and harder to find in Munich. In the summer they will be crowded (with mostly Germans not tourists) so the staff may seem hurried or you may share a table which is very traditional and normal, we did. We couldn't get an outside seat so we ate inside. (Would rather have been outside perhaps I should rage post against the restaurant which seems the norm now) The food is very good and they serve Augustiner Bier. If you are looking for traditional German food in a non tourist area this is a good choice.

We wanted to make a reservation here for 25 people after my child's baptism. At first we were told over the phone that we should call later because it was lunchtime. In the afternoon we were told it could only be done in writing. Our email confirmed the reservation with the words "until Friday". After being informed that the date was a Sunday, we were then confirmed again that it was now correctly entered (they had probably made a mistake with the month). When we got there, unfortunately, despite our best efforts, the reservation was not entered. But since the place wasn't particularly busy, mind you at lunchtime, we were able to stay anyway. When we paid, it was mentioned that a 10 percent tip is always MUST be given for "events". Apart from the fact that we would have done that anyway because that's what you do, I find that really cheeky under the circumstances. I would have expected a little something on the house because the reservation was simply forgotten. The food was good as always, hence the 2 stars.

Scheidegger is an absolute institution in Schwabing-West. The home-style food is of good quality, the prices are very fair, the service is friendly, attentive, and professional (sadly a rarity in Munich these days), and the Augustiner on tap is second to none. Since this restaurant is certainly no longer an insider tip, reservations are recommended, even during the week.

We once wanted to eat a currywurst with fries in Bavaria to see how it tasted. We then drove here and were unfortunately disappointed by the currywurst. The menu says it is a (red bratwurst) but this is just a Bockwurst that has been warmed up and the curry sauce is not a curry sauce, it is some other sauce. We cannot say what exactly (it tasted like a cheap version of curry ketchup). We had to wait almost an hour for the other dish and order it twice and that was the Kaiserschmarrn and it was very tasty.

Wow, what's going on at Scheidegger? We've always loved eating here; it's cozy, the food is very good, and the prices are still very fair. We were there again on June 19th (a public holiday). A look at the menu... it's gotten quite expensive. OK in these times. But unfortunately, the quality of the food has declined considerably. The mountain farmer's schnitzel had shrunk considerably. Instead of potatoes, there were simply toasted dumplings on the plate. These were swimming in a lot of oil. My daughter's veggie burger was delivered in a hard, burnt Kaiser roll. They said they'd sold out of brioche buns. The price was still around €18. The excellent service made up for a lot. All five of us were disappointed. New but clearly worse chef? Extreme cost-cutting? Not like that.

Super delicious and large portions, and the service was very friendly and quick! Highly recommended, we always enjoy coming back.

Delicious Bavarian food at reasonable prices

We were there for dinner. The service was friendly and the food was good. The value for money was good for us. One star deducted for the service because our side dishes were delivered incorrectly. You can also sit outside with your dog.

We went to the restaurant so two small children could eat. I couldn't eat anything myself, as I have to follow a strict diet for medical reasons. However, I was embarrassed because I had my medical drink (shake) with me. Perhaps I should have asked beforehand if I could bring it—I can see that. Yes, perhaps that was my mistake. But the way the waiter treated me hurt me deeply. Her words were: "This isn't a beer garden, you should have asked beforehand. That's not how things are done in Germany." I was close to tears. There are simple, respectful ways to speak to guests. I've never experienced anything like this—we're never coming back.

Rustic restaurant, friendly service, fast food, but unfortunately, just not good. It looked perfectly fine, but I'm not sure if the chef had ever eaten cheese spaetzle. It didn't taste like much, just creamy. A disappointment. The schnitzel was very small and oily compared to other restaurants. The fried potatoes weren't fried potatoes, but potatoes that had been lightly tossed in a pan.

Tried going here for lunch. Waited 40 minutes for food after ordering only for our server to tell us one of our orders was no longer available, not even offering an apology for the long wait. We left shortly after without ever eating Rude waitress. Terrible service

Unfortunately, it took a very long time before we were even served or even noticed. The staff were more concerned with themselves. The soup was too salty, some of the food was lukewarm. The food arrived after 45 minutes, and before the main course was even served, the cashier had already taken the check!! I haven't been there in a while... it hasn't worked out to its advantage. A shame.

I was truly disappointed. A simple salad with some vegetables cost a whopping €19—which I honestly think is completely excessive. The portion was also rather meager and disproportionate to the price. The service was also disappointing: During the entire visit, no one asked if everything was okay or if we wanted anything else. Overall, unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it.

Nice atmosphere, vintage Schwabing

The food and drinks were generally okay. The burger is a bit overpriced, but it still tastes good. After the food and drinks were served, we were not asked once if everything was OK, even when the drinks were finished, there was no question as to whether we would like anything else. (We sat outside alone, so it wasn't due to overexertion). The two waitresses sat at the table next to us and smoked in complete peace, chatting and laughing the whole time, although they could have also asked us if we would like anything else. When I wanted to pay, I had to go into the restaurant myself. The waitress suddenly couldn't find our order in the system, so she quickly added everything up and reported the total. Now it's coming! After this type of service, I was asked if I wanted to give a tip and I said “not this time”. As I was leaving, I heard people blaspheming me afterwards that my answer to the tip wasn't this time. All in all, the food and drinks were absolutely fine, the service needed improvement or getting used to (a matter of perspective 😃).

A cozy Bavarian restaurant with friendly service and delicious food, offering excellent value for money. If you're on vacation in Munich, this could be a good alternative to some other Bavarian restaurants. Consider making a reservation, as it gets very busy.

I was last here in 2019 and nothing has changed. The atmosphere is typically cozy and the young waitresses are very attentive and friendly. The food is beyond reproach. Judging by the price anyway. We'll come back immediately.

Mir san aus München und somit Oberbayern! Dementsprechend können wir Unfreundlichkeit mit am gewissen sympathischen bayrischen Grant unterscheiden! Zudem eine Frechheit was auf dem Mittags Teller an Fleisch liegt / Nix! Und paar Kartoffeln zum sättigen für 11€! Mir WAREN Stammgäste und ziehen jetzt weiter….vor allem oder eigentlich nur die weibliche Bedienung ein ABSOLUTES Nogo!!! Des kannst daheim machen, aber nicht mit Gästen!!!!

Gepflegtes Bier vom Faß und bodenständiges Essen zu vernünftigen Preisen. Am Kaffee aus der Siebträgermaschine gab es auch nichts zu meckern. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Actually almost a local pub. Great team, nice rooms, but unfortunately since the last few visits the food has been getting worse and quite expensive. The Obatzda was only made from Camembert in a marginal dose, more likely from cream cheese or quark. Ham noodles are very undemanding. Too bad. Next time only drink the good Augustiner.

A decent economy. Beautiful wood-paneled interior. Prices are cheap, food is good. There is Augustiner beer. What more could you want? The only drawback: the volume. Even if there are only a few people there, it is very loud. When it's really full, it's almost unbearable. It's almost impossible to have a conversation if you don't want to be hoarse the next morning. I prefer to go in summer. Then you can sit outside and enjoy the summer evening.

We weren’t very hungry hence order a main and a dessert to share between us. Amazing quality and delicious. Lovely service even we went right before kitchen closings. They were still very friendly and understanding.

Wir haben wiener schnitzel art mit pommes bestellt und schweine haxen. Die Pommes waren ungeniesbar, aus der Kühltruhe wahrscheinlich, das Bier aus der Flasche auch ungeniesbar. Wir empfehlen das Restaurant nicht weiter. Das Restaurant hat bessere Zeiten erlebt. Schade, nie wieder.

I'm having a hard time reading through all the recently published reviews and comparing them to my visit today!? Admittedly, the last time I was in this business was more than 15 years ago, but as far as I can remember it was always pretty good (well, you also have to say I was very young and undemanding) But today, as I said, rather disappointed! I'll start with the positive... ...spontaneously got a seat without a reservation, quick service as well as the kitchen and of course Augustiner beer. But the food... oh well! Fries and potato dumplings were lukewarm and that's putting it very optimistically. The duck was very dry and almost no sauce, a shame! I didn't want to say anything because I was in a hurry. So all in all I can only say, either I had a bad day or my standards have become much higher!?

Great food, cozy and friendly service, it's even worth the trip from Hamburg to visit the Gasthaus Scheidegger. A must when I'm in Munich.

Also just a joke. I have been a guest here since I was a student more than 20 years ago. Some of the waitresses are from before, with great service. Had “classic” salad. According to the card it's an allergen (not listed on the card - it's totally tattered and messed up). Three frozen spring rolls, shrimp chips and dry chicken cubes… just under twenty euros… that was the last time there.

Delicious food, great service (English speaking). No English menus, so don't complain... use Google translator - take a photo of the page, and it will translate it. The effort will be rewarded by the dining experience.

Nice restaurant in a good neighborhood of Munich. The food was excellent I could say, and prices were fair compared to other restaurants around. The only issue was the service, good although no English menu available (the solution proposed was to use Google translate lol 🤣), and the waitress had some issue speaking in German, which is a limit

The store is really poorly organized. For the third time we wanted to make a reservation there, I was told it's no problem for two, just come here. I don't normally write reviews, but I couldn't ignore what I saw last night. I was sitting inside when the bartender approached one of the waitresses and told her extremely rudely, "It's a privilege for you to work here because if I owned the place I wouldn't even have you in the kitchen to make plates." rinse,” she simply let him finish and then continued working as if it was something that happened often. The Scheidegger is a real piece of Schwabing and a traditional inn as you would imagine. Inside you can expect a cozy atmosphere with wood-panelled walls that feels really warm and inviting. You can make yourself comfortable on the benches outside and forget about time with a beer - typical Schwabing. The Bavarian cuisine is really good here, and the Kaiserschmarren? Simply perfect: fluffy, slightly caramelized, just the way it should be. The roast pork, which is served once a week, is particularly popular. It is served fresh from the oven, with a dark beer sauce that goes perfectly with it. The portions are generous, and the potato dumplings and homemade coleslaw complete the dish perfectly. Incidentally, the Scheidegger has been around since 1996 and has since established itself as an integral part of Schwabing's tavern culture

Super delicious food. I ordered a burger and salad. The service was quick. The service is customer oriented. It's easy to take leftovers with you. The atmosphere was great and cozy.

At Scheidegger I could order up and down the menu, especially the menu of the week. I'll definitely come here again because it tastes very good, the price is right and the service is friendly and professional.

Outdoor & indoor seating. Lunch menu has more variety than usual in a Bavarian restaurant & was very priced. Most mains were €10.60. I do not eat pork which is normally a problem. Not in this restaurant. My only issue is while our mains were tasty, neither was served in accordance with the menu. The wine list while short was also very well priced. Unfortunately, not the standard of food or service it once had. The menu looked promising, but seems to be too long for the kitchen to do justice to. One example: a salad of "grilled vegetables" turned out to be a pile of defrosted frozen veg with salad dressing. Disappointing. However, a lovely terrace, so I would come back for drinks!

Nice atmosphere, menu no longer up to date, prices have increased compared to what is stated here. Food is good, but quality was once better.

Excellent price-quality ratio of the food. Just a pity that we got an alcohol-free beer that didn't taste good. We had indicated this, but it was said that the beer came from the bottle and could therefore not possibly be good. Yet this was true, maybe there was something in the glass where it was poured or something else, but something was not right. (3 men tasted and came to the same conclusion) In the end, the beer was still on the receipt and the staff refused to take it away. So we paid him and didn't leave a tip. Too bad because otherwise it is a really good place to eat. It also looked cozy inside.

I went there for lunch with my girlfriend. We like the atmosphere. The food and drink is good to very good. The service is attentive, quick and friendly. The price/performance ratio is good. Gladly again!

My favourite place in Schwabing

The food has always been very tasty. There is always something for every taste and at affordable prices. It comes quickly, the conditions are friendly, competent, fast and always smiling. It is always a lot going on. We always got a place for the two of us. If you are traveling with several people, it is advisable to make a reservation, especially in the evening. Parking is only available on the street.

The Wirtshaus Scheidegger in Munich Schwabing offers a pleasant, rustic atmosphere with simple furnishings that are typical of a traditional Bavarian inn. The service was quick and professional. Unfortunately, the schnitzel I tried was mediocre and didn't leave a lasting impression. Overall, Scheidegger offers a solid, if not outstanding, culinary experience.

The schnitzel is worth it both in terms of price and taste. The service was pleasant and overall I can only recommend this restaurant!
