A gem of a restaurant I found while on vacation!! I rarely write reviews, but I couldn't resist this one. I arrived almost at opening time, and my first impression was that the owner was very friendly and showed me to a table, making ordering a breeze. He offered both German and English menus, and I was so grateful for his smile. The atmosphere was quite cozy, and the waiter chatted with the customers as he served, which added to the enjoyment of the meal. The food was the highlight. The beer (Weizenbier) was incredibly smooth and refreshing, perfect for the hot weather. I had the Fladenbrot mit Salat and the Schweinerückensteak. The yogurt-topped salad was refreshing and had just the right amount of tartness. I ordered the Fladenbrot with pineapple and banana inside, and the flavors blended together better than I expected, making it incredibly delicious. The steak was tender and meaty, with no meaty smell. It paired especially well with the crispy outside and moist inside wedge potatoes. Even though I was very hungry, the portion was generous and I was very full and enjoyed the meal. Our dog was also very welcome. We'll definitely be back!!! ^-^ For your information, we felt that almost everything we saw (tables, restrooms, etc.) was clean. Also, the interior was almost always fully booked. I recommend making a reservation in advance. Thank you for your kindness and delicious food.

We stopped in spontaneously and were absolutely thrilled with the flatbread and salad combo. Great atmosphere, superb service, and absolutely delicious food – we'd love to go back. Michaela served us in a super friendly and courteous manner.

Basically good home cooking. I just don't understand why the cheese has to have artificial coloring. The salad dressing also seems to be from a packet. The service was super friendly, but the two ladies couldn't handle the number of guests.

Delicious food. We had the Fladenbrote, which was very fresh. Plenty of selection on tap and in bottles. The atmosphere is friendly, and many locals come here too.

Beautiful decor, authentically German yet with a unique flair. Fast and friendly service. Generous portions. The price-quality ratio is excellent. We had the salads. The dressing was perhaps a bit too much, but otherwise, it was great! Huge admiration for the slightly older woman who was working the entire table (along with a student). Despite the many questions, phone calls, takeout orders, and so on, she always kept a cool head. No stress!

We had the pleasure of visiting the Schaukelpferd beer and wine bar during our three-day stay at the neighboring hotel and were more than impressed! On a Monday, one of the days when many restaurants are closed, the Schaukelpferd was, as expected, very busy. Nevertheless, the staff was exceptionally friendly and welcomed us with a smile. The food was of top quality. Despite the high volume of guests, the staff were super friendly and professional, and it was hardly noticeable that they had to serve so many people. We loved it! It's incomprehensible that some guests give us poor reviews due to waiting times, which can naturally occur when the house is full. Friendliness and the quality of the food should be the focus of every review. We felt completely at home and can highly recommend the Schaukelpferd beer and wine bar. We will definitely be back! Keep up the good work!

Come here and eat these flatbreads! We couldn't imagine what they would be like at first, but these flatbreads blew us away – they tasted absolutely delicious! Our salad was also delicious, definitely not what you would call standard. The other guests' salads also looked very good and were all huge. From the beginning to the end of our stay, the service was always extremely friendly, courteous, and very approachable; we felt completely in good hands.

I don't even know how to find words of admiration for this small and very cozy restaurant. Here you need to reserve a table in advance, but we were lucky and were fed a very tasty dinner. The portions are large and very tasty.

My husband and I spontaneously stopped by the Schaukelpferd for dinner today. We had already really liked the menu beforehand. The "small salad" that came with every dish was quite large, super fresh, and varied. Absolutely delicious! I also loved the selection of different dressings. My husband had the baked Camembert, and I had a flatbread and salad combination. We both enjoyed it very much. The service was very friendly and attentive. Despite the rain, it was a truly wonderful evening! Thank you so much 💕 We'd love to come back, but we'll make a reservation in advance. 😉

A restaurant that offers good, hearty salads.

Top! Highly recommended. Where can you get really good portions for the money these days? Definitely here! The salad, ordered individually, is a generous portion with yogurt sauce, and the flatbread is a hit. I've never seen anything like it offered in a restaurant before. The flatbread can be ordered as a full portion (4 pieces) or as a combo, like I had (see picture). I had the flatbread with asparagus, ham, and olives.

We were returning home one Sunday evening after a hike in the national park and spontaneously stumbled upon this restaurant without a reservation – thanks to a Google Maps search. As soon as we entered, we were impressed by the cozy, somewhat older decor and the warm, family-friendly atmosphere. Although the sunny outdoor seating was unfortunately already taken, we were able to get a free table inside. We were particularly impressed by the mineral water, which was served with ice and fresh lemon – a detail you don't find everywhere these days. I had a half-sized flatbread with tomatoes and Gorgonzola, accompanied by a "small" side salad, which turned out to be surprisingly large and fresh. The yogurt dressing was also very tasty and generous. Overall, a highly recommended place, especially after a long day outdoors!

Whenever I'm in Baiersbronn, a visit to the Schaukelpferd is a must. Delicious food and friendly service.

Quaint and cozy, we felt very comfortable here. Large portions, lovingly prepared. The flatbreads are a hit! The small side salad that comes with it is something you'd get elsewhere as a "large salad bowl" at an astronomical price. Thank you for the lovely evening we were able to spend here!

The extremely large number of guests says it all about this restaurant. The food, especially the flatbreads, is fantastic, and food allergies are also catered for. The ambiance, both inside and out, is beautiful. Guests should allow some time, as it can take a while for the food and drinks to arrive, which is why I'm deducting one star from the overall rating. To counteract initial hunger and the longer wait, a welcome drink from the kitchen could be served, or more servers could be assigned. But it's definitely worth the wait for the food.

We've been coming here for years, whether as a couple or with a group, for birthday celebrations or simply to enjoy the salads. The portions are really generous, and you're always full. We've never had a bad meal or a smaller portion. Nothing is left to be desired, and the service is always very friendly and welcoming. The food is always beautifully presented, and a lot of effort goes into it. It tastes best in the barrel (an insider tip). We'll be back, I promise. 👍😁

The flatbread was much too dry, like a rusk. The landlord responded to a friendly complaint in a very unfriendly and angry manner. Salad dressing, salsa, fried onions, and garlic dip are all ready-made products. We won't be coming back. Anyone who knows real fresh flatbread will be disappointed here. A ready-baked bread, simply topped with a thick layer of cheese on top. Then baked again in the oven (roasted) I can't understand the good reviews. Fresh ! Is different. It resembled bad Hawaiian toast. The unfriendly answer here from the operator shows everything and my reviews are always true.

The pub-style place that I first visited more than 30 years ago... it still has the same atmosphere, interesting, in "warm" wood, with many carved horses - these are the trademark of the pub. Everything is clean and well maintained, and in the summer they also serve in the garden. The food is excellent, tasty and originally prepared. In addition to beer, they also offer wine and spirits, cocktails, etc. The staff, headed by the owner, are empathetic, friendly, they know what they are doing, and the service is fast and fluid. Great experience.

In this typical German eatery, everything is as you would expect: brown interior with cozy decoration, friendly and resolute service and tasty beer with excellent wine. But the menu is exceptional: they have truly delicious Fladenbrothe! A kind of pizza, but with a flat bread base. I have not eaten such good food from traditional German cuisine for a long time, even though the price is quite low. I didn't think the meat dish was anything special, so I would say try their Fladenbrothe. Oh yes: booking by telephone is highly recommended because it can be busy!

The staff is very unfriendly and generally has very little interest in the customers. We had to wait almost 1½ hours for the food and when it finally arrived it wasn't even warm anymore. The ambience is the only thing that was actually acceptable, even if the seating was damaged and the tables all shook. Not recommended!

Nice stube with terrace, but actually much nicer inside. For 2 several spots next to each other looking towards the middle. Very cosy. In addition, fantastic food for a very reasonable price. Both had a well-filled Goulash soup as a starter. A bit spicy, but very tasty. I had the pork loin with potatoes, fresh garlic sauce, onions and salad. Nicely cooked, large portions. My friend had a dish half salad with turkey and half flatbread, which is basically a kind of pizza. This one is also nicely decorated, more than sufficient. All in all, a great meal and a nice atmosphere!!

Para dejarlo más claro, ojalá tuviera este local debajo de mi casa! Sería cliente habitual. Hoy hemos aparecido por aquí a las 20h para cenar, sin saber donde íbamos, y hemos cenado de lujo, qué ensaladas! Y la señora que nos ha atendido, supongo la dueña, una mujer simpática, atenta, detallista, generosa... Encantadora! Como digo, mñn volvemos, seguro!

We had dinner in this characteristic place with pork, french fries and sauces to match. all very good and as an Italian who doesn't know German I asked for a Weiss beer and he brought me another Radler that I had already had. when I said I asked for Weiss, he changed it for me even though I had already drunk part of the radler. Excellent place, I recommend it.

It's just a cute, cozy place. If it's full, the noise level rises sharply. Due to the modest size of the restaurant, the neighbors are not far away. Nevertheless, you can maintain your privacy. It's always nice to go on the rocking horse. In any case, I would make a reservation!

Whenever we are around, the rocking horse is a MUST. Great food, super friendly service. You really feel like a guest here. The rocking horse proves that Bayersbronn can not only offer Michelin, but also normal prices. The Swabian flatbreads are amazing 🔨. There are several Michelin restaurants in the world. The best flat cakes only once in the rocking horse. It is rumored that the Italians got their best pizzas from the rocking horse flatbreads.

A very nice restaurant. Small but nice, it totally applies here. You can eat delicious salad and flatbread and the drinks menu ranges from elderberry spritzer, beer and wine to liqueur, schnapps and cocktails. The ambience is great, everything is made of wood and harmoniously decorated. The service is super nice and attentive. We had a lovely evening and would love to come back.

Überfordertes Personal nur wen man etwas zu beanstanden hat kriegt man eine Schnippche antwort. So sollte man nicht mit Kunden umgehen. Beschämend so mit Gästen umzugehen. Die Gerichte, normale Hausmannskost. Das Lokal dank des Personals nichts empfehlenswert.

Wir hatten einen super Abend, eine super nette Bedienung, tolle Leute, gute Musik. Der Salat und die Fladen waren mega. Wir mussten die schon zweimal nachmachen. Sehr zu empfehlen.
