It was our first time there, for a small Christmas party. From booking to reception to the service – everything was top-notch! The grounds are fantastic, and the historic building boasts a wonderful interior. Since we all ordered goose, we can't really comment much on the food in general. But the goose and its accompanying accompaniments were simply divine! Friends have already told us that the food at Rüdenstein is excellent, and we'll definitely be checking it out again. We'll also be back in the summer. We're already looking forward to our next visit.

We had a traditional Bergisches Land coffee and cake spread for 7 people. Unfortunately, the coffee in the drip coffee maker was cold. After immediately complaining, fresh coffee was brought right away. Everything else was absolutely delicious. The sausage was of good quality. The only drawback was that we were a bit cold.

We attended the "Bergische Kaffeetafel" (a traditional coffee and cake spread) with club members. All the tables were nicely set, and the room had a pleasant atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Anything could be reordered at any time and was promptly served with a friendly smile. Everyone felt very comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed the convivial gathering. Many thanks to the entire team.

It's become one of our regular restaurants, even though it's 100 km away. We recently went there for goose! Excellent!

Yesterday, four of us made the trip all the way from Neuss to the Rüdenstein restaurant to enjoy the traditional Bergische Kaffeetafel (coffee and cake spread) with a Dröppelminna (a type of coffee pot). Our friends were delighted. The welcome, the service, and the delicious, plentiful food were once again a real treat. We will definitely make the long journey again to enjoy the Bergische Kaffeetafel.

Yesterday, we went to Haus Rüdenstein with friends and our two children, looking forward to some delicious waffles. But what we encountered there was simply disappointing! Our children wanted a waffle with a scoop of ice cream and some rice pudding – simple enough, just separate, because they don't like it when everything gets mixed together. And what does the restaurant do? They seriously tell us that's not possible because the plate is "too small"! If we wanted the ice cream or rice pudding separate, we would have to pay extra. Excuse me?! A small bowl for the ice cream – too much to ask? A little rice pudding next to it instead of on top – supposedly impossible? Such behavior is simply outrageous, inflexible, and totally unfriendly to children. A restaurant that can't even accommodate such a simple request has clearly missed the point of hospitality. It's a shame, because with a little consideration, it could have been a really lovely afternoon. As it is, it leaves a bad taste in our mouths – and for us, one thing is certain: Never again Haus Rüdenstein! 👎

We drank coffee and fresh, delicious apricot cake in a beautiful Bergisches Land-style dining room. The waitresses were dressed in the colors of the Bergisches Land region, creating a special country-house atmosphere. And all this with a view of the Wupper River and the Wupper Hills. What more could you want?

I went there with friends for the second time this year for the "Bergische Kaffeetafel" (Bergisch Coffee Table). Just like the first time, we were very satisfied! Thanks to the large selection of dishes, there was something for everyone. The service was very friendly and attentive. We also ordered the "Dröppelminna" (dry mint) to accompany our coffee. I definitely recommend it!

Highly recommended restaurant with a pleasant ambiance and a wonderful location on the Wupper River, not far from Leichlingen, Solingen, and Leverkusen. The owner and staff are very elegantly dressed and always very friendly, and there are even charging stations outside in the parking lot, unless there are combustion-engine cars parked there.

Went there for the first time with friends for the Bergisches Kaffeetafel on a Sunday afternoon. On the way to the restaurant, I briefly thought I'd gotten lost because it's quite out of the way, but it was there after all :-) It was quite warm inside, and our table was quite small for 6 people plus food, but it worked. The bread was a bit dry, and the second batch of butter was still frozen, so we couldn't spread it, but we had time. The waffles are delicious and highly recommended. It's also a great place to go with children, as there's a playground. Be careful, though, because the Wupper River flows through there as well. Otherwise, it's lovely, quaint, and busy, and the noise level corresponds to that.

A hike in Solingen is always worth a stop at Rüdenstein.

The food is really delicious. The restaurant's interior is a bit dated, but the location right on the Wupper River is very nice... Not a great selection for vegetarians or anyone else. When you go to a restaurant like this at the end of September and aren't offered a sunny spot, with the argument that they don't serve tables, and then five minutes later, another group of two people is suddenly seated at those tables, I'm definitely disappointed...

I thought it was very nice. The waiter was super nice to us, and the food was amazing—the best I've ever had in Solingen. Definitely worth a visit. The ambiance right on the Wupper River is, of course, also a highlight.

I highly recommend this place. We were there on a sunny day (September 19th). After an interesting visit to the knife sharpening workshop and a lovely hike in the adjacent forest, we thoroughly enjoyed coffee and waffles, as well as delicious pumpkin soup and curd dumplings in the garden restaurant. It was like a vacation!

We were very disappointed by the Rüdenstein restaurant today. After a hike, we wanted to have a coffee on the terrace – maybe even some cake or ice cream. Although almost all the tables were free and we had indicated that we wanted to sit on the terrace, we were directed to the kiosk. We find this behavior dismissive, disrespectful, and a sign of the lowest appreciation for the guests. Therefore, we are awarding only one star for the abysmal service.

A very nice beer garden located directly on the Wupper River. Seven different dishes arrived at our tables fairly quickly. We were all satisfied with our plates. I had the Kottenschnitzel. Finally, a schnitzel that tasted exceptional and very good. The server was very friendly and served us very well.

Reservations for inside only are recommended, otherwise it can take a while. Very busy, especially in good weather. The BBQ was amazing—a huge selection, lots of side dishes, all delicious. I love that they also have vegan options on the menu and oat milk for coffee. I'd love to go back. Prices are moderate and reasonable.

I have childhood memories of the Rüdenstein restaurant dating back to 1973. In addition to regular visits, usually combined with walks along the Wupper River, family celebrations and milestone birthdays were and still are traditionally celebrated there! Mrs. Meis and Mrs. Lukassen have the place under control in a positive sense! I highly recommend the Bergisch coffee table. Whether cake or hot dishes, the offerings are always a delight! Honest, traditional cuisine, but by no means "stale"! When I have friends visiting from out of town, it's always my first stop. The location and the ambiance are always worth a visit, no matter the season!

A nice day trip destination. We only stayed outside, beautifully situated right on the Wupper River. Fruit and walnut trees grow all around. There's a playground for children. Dogs also have plenty of space to run around.

High-quality food in a great location on the Wupper River. The beer garden is very nice and inviting. The schnitzel is especially recommended. The kitchen is only open until 7:30 p.m. today, on a Friday. If you want to sit on the terrace, please go through the restaurant and register. We went straight to the beer garden and sat down at one of the many free tables, where the junior manager very unprofessionally told us that this was not permitted. However, since we can deal with other people's weaknesses, we simply accepted this with a smile. Therefore, only two points for the service.

We ate there on Sunday evening after the Wuppertal dance tournament. It was simply fantastic. My utmost respect goes to the owners, who have been running this restaurant for four generations. And they've always maintained consistently high quality. Keep up the good work. The country needs restaurateurs like them.

We were invited to a celebration there. The atmosphere was very nice, both inside and out. There was plenty of parking. The appetizer was excellent, and the meat and fish were very good. The side dishes, sauces, and dessert were all good. Very good wine, good service. We felt very comfortable. Highly recommended.

Beautifully situated on the Wupper River in the Rüden district. The menu offers traditional fare and more. Extremely busy on weekends and public holidays, partly because groups often come here and take advantage of the ample outdoor seating. But the staff give their all 😀

We ate inside both in the winter evenings and outside at coffee time in the wonderful summer weather. The service is good, the food is delicious and the atmosphere is really nice. The menu is not large and there may not be a large selection for vegetarians/vegans. There's Bergisch food here :) In any case, sitting outside in the summer is pure relaxation, in the countryside and looking at the Wupper.

The Rüdenstein restaurant is a really great, family-run restaurant on the Wupper. It is very busy there, especially on weekends, as it is on a popular hiking and cycling route along the Wupper. The traditional Bergisch coffee table available there is very sumptuous and extremely tasty and it's worth bringing Tupperware containers with you so you can pack up the leftovers. Bags are provided for the leftover bread from the coffee table to make it easier to take with you. On other occasions we took a break while riding there. The horses enjoyed the lush grass under the trees in a more secluded part of the outdoor area and we enjoyed drinks and snacks according to the season. The events such as “Currywurst meets evening wear” with a buffet with more than just currywurst and a party afterwards are also worth mentioning. An extraordinary opportunity to get the rarely worn items of clothing out of the closet. Finally, I would like to praise the PriSecco from the drinks menu. An excellent non-alcoholic sparkling wine/prosecco alternative for toasting for young and old.

Actually a very nice place. Food and drinks within acceptable range. But, since Corona, the owners have had a strange procedure for assigning tables. What was still comprehensible during Corona times is no longer possible today. Even at times when almost all tables are free, after a long, even very long, pointless waiting time, the guests are led by the hand by the staff to a table, which they can then take or leave again. Oh yes and then there is the issue of plastic coins... ....I'll spare myself and those reading this the details. The catering in terms of food and drinks is really ok, the handling and treatment of the guests is a joke.
