Gaststätte Bruns in Erkelenz

Yesterday we visited Elsässer Erkelenz again. As always, the food was good and the service/owner was very friendly. A small, concise menu with delicious, sometimes unusual dishes. Everything was delicious. From the rabbit pâté appetizer to the main course salad with duck gizzards, to the evening meal warm chocolate cake with ice cream. The mussels were very tasty 😀 They also offered delicious fruit brandies to finish. The interior is beautifully and cozily decorated. Always worth a visit 👍🏻 We'll definitely be back; I've been there several times.

We didn't like it. There was little choice, especially regarding beef. The rump steak didn't specify the weight in grams. The price was too high for what we had. All three steaks were too salty and much too tough. Our daughter even spat some of it out into her napkin, and she loves rump steak. The salad served with the main course was completely unappetizing and, in my opinion, had no place on the plate. We wouldn't recommend it. We know much better restaurants. The atmosphere wasn't cozy either; it felt very cold.

Not recommended!!! We order there when our large family gets together. Everyone always orders the same thing. Recently, I wanted two Asian dishes with rice. One was lobster ditch with various vegetables, which contained exactly three small south sea shrimp. The other was beef with onions, and there were only six to seven small pieces of beef there, too. The phone call I subsequently had prompted me to write this review... Not only was the person on the other end incredibly rude and impolite, but he then told me that he had access to a camera in the kitchen and saw how the food was properly served. Well, the dishes cost 15 euros. So I should expect what I ordered. Never again. I'm very disappointed; I've ordered so much from there. Too bad, 0 stars for one just so I can post it here.
