Great gastronomy, friendly staff, fine atmosphere, very tasty and varied food and drinks

We celebrated our wedding at the Vogelsiedler and were truly thrilled with the food and the hospitality. The guests also had a great time at the bowling alley. The guest rooms are also beautifully furnished, and we all slept well. We would do it again in a heartbeat. Thank you so much.

The food was okay, the staff was very friendly, and the ambiance was nice. Unfortunately, prices have really gone up in recent years, and the quality has also improved.

We spontaneously stopped by the Vogelsiedler for lunch today. The food was absolutely delicious, and we didn't have to wait long, even though the restaurant was busy. The service was extremely friendly. I highly recommend it.

We had our class reunion at the Vogelsiedler. The table was beautifully set, the service attentive, and the food delicious. However, I find the prices too high – €22 for a small Strindberg steak with fries isn't justified in my opinion. Unfortunately, prices are constantly rising, so the additional costs have to be passed on. Dining out could soon become a luxury – without the owners taking responsibility for it.

We always enjoy coming here. The food is delicious, the selection is great, and when we're there in a larger group, we all get our food together fairly quickly.

We had a family celebration with 30 people at the Vogelsiedler last Saturday. It was lovely. Everything was perfect; the buffet was delicious, and the service was very friendly, courteous, and professional. Some of our guests stayed overnight. They were very pleased with the rooms, which were very clean. The breakfast was also very good. We were very pleased.

Very friendly hosts and simply great food. The burgers were simply amazing and K&K, your car broker, enjoyed it too. Eastside Motorsport simply loves to stuff its stomachs here. He gave us a great recommendation and we were full even without a starter!

Worth a visit at any time. Very good and tasty food.

We went bowling and had dinner. The two bowling lanes are fine. Most of the bowling shoes are worn out, as are some of the bowling balls, unfortunately. The food tastes very good. Unfortunately, both the appetizer and the main course were not served hot. As a senior citizen, the portion sizes were sufficient for me. Younger members of the group found them rather small. Therefore, in my opinion, the value for money is borderline, or even excessive. There was ample free parking.

I can recommend this restaurant with a clear conscience. Everything just fits.

A very nice restaurant with very good German cuisine

We were very satisfied. Delicious food, generous portions, and fast and very friendly service. This restaurant also offers vegetarian dishes other than pasta with tomato sauce... (although, according to my boyfriend, the portions could be a bit larger). We'd be happy to go back!

Beautiful inn, very quaint. I wasn't so happy with my meal (salmon salad). The salad lacked variety and was rather acidic or vinegary, and seemed to be swimming in liquid. The salmon was very good, but the skin could have been crispier, which was probably due to the liquid from the salad. A good vinaigrette should be slightly creamy. A few years ago, we had a large birthday party with an evening buffet, and the food was excellent. This time, we had a larger group of about 25 people (pre-ordered). The young waitress was very friendly and prompt. Her older colleague seemed a bit overwhelmed, shouting questions about the order across the room (I would have preferred to approach the guest there). She also became rude when paying, and I had to repeat my order three times (1 meal, 3 drinks) because I felt she was overwhelmed at the time.

Very tasty. I recommend this place.

I've been a frequent guest at the Zum 🐦 Siedler Inn. The food is good. There's a good selection of meat, poultry, fish, and game. The menu is updated regularly with the seasons. It's currently asparagus season. However, yesterday was the second time I was disappointed. Both times, the asparagus was far too hard and woody. A note about this was gratefully received, and I was compensated with a small extra (coffee). The service is polite and courteous. The price/performance ratio is completely reasonable. The terrace is a wonderful place to sit. Large parasols provide shelter and shade. A stop at this inn is definitely worth it.

Fresh plum cake, absolutely delicious and very well topped!

We were there in the evening. The restaurant wasn't too crowded. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The meals were served very quickly, even though everything was freshly prepared. I ordered truffle pasta with smoked salmon and drinks. Visually very nicely presented and the taste is exactly what I like ^^. Food ok but completely overpriced.

We were guests at Vogelsiedler on April 16, 2025. The team was very friendly. The food was great. All you can say is simply great, I can only recommend it, thank you

The cost of goods and the size of the portions do not correspond to the prices charged. Almost no main course costs less than 20 euros. The dishes are more like “senior citizens’ plates”. Service staff felt overwhelmed, fake friendly and not particularly fast.

We went bowling at Vogelsiedler and then had dinner. The atmosphere is inviting and clean. The food is very tasty but unfortunately far too little for the prices.

Price/performance doesn't work at all. What is on the plate is the cheapest frozen food at a price that is completely overpriced for this poor quality. Since I can't respond to the reaction, then so be it. If you think that a handful of fries that were definitely frozen, a steak or four that was tiny and coarse and a few crumbs of raw food justify this price, then you should go eat somewhere else, I can happily recommend some good locations. I'm happy to pay this price but not for this. Incidentally, that was the tenor of yesterday evening, and of the others too. And yes, I can do that better. And yes, it's sad when an answer is so arrogant.

Can you eat well? I liked it, the look was good, the service was ok, everything was neat. Enough parking spaces. The price-performance ratio is no longer acceptable to me. If that doesn't bother you, you're in good hands here.

Today we went bowling and dinner. The bowling alley is very good. Technically not up to date. But serves its purpose. The salads were already prepared and some of them were a bit lumpy, just like the carpaccio and the balsamic vinegar, which were unfortunately a bit dried out on the plate. The soups were different sizes and 7€ for such a small tomato soup. Don't look in the photo. Otherwise the food was tasty. We paid with a debit card; we would have liked to have seen the bill put together before we transferred the amount. (We received the compilation after payment)

We have been to Vogelsiedler several times recently and have received mixed reviews from our guests. The children had schnitzel with fries, unfortunately the schnitzel was not fried properly and some of the fries were unfortunately cold. Unfortunately, our guests with a steak au four have trouble with a slight rumbling stomach after eating. I had a zander fillet which was very tasty, unfortunately because the potatoes weren't hot. There was a lot going on that evening, maybe that was why. Then it's better to say no to a few guests instead of the quality suffering. Last week we were there again and not everything was perfect. One of our guests had wild goulash, unfortunately the portion size was not enough for an adult man, it was more of a senior portion. I had this chicken breast baked with tomato mozzarella and tagliatelle with it, unfortunately only half a slice of tomato was hidden under a little mozzarella and the tagliatelle were damn oily the deeper you got into the bowl, even if it was olive oil, it was still a bit "too much"! This time the children had nuggets with fries, some of the fries were cold and some were rock hard so that they jumped off the plate when they tried to bite them. I don't even want to talk about the loveless garnish on the plate (1 spoonful of grated carrot). At another table, a steak was returned in its entirety because the guest didn't like something. Conclusion: We'll be back, maybe you'll feel a change. The staff was friendly and nice, perhaps only one waitress should serve the table with drinks to avoid double bookings. When the food is served, we find the support of other colleagues helpful. Unfortunately our experiences are only worth 3 stars. There is room for improvement, work on it and maybe cancel a third, fourth, fifth party in one evening so that the quality doesn't suffer.

A large restaurant with overnight accommodation. There is also a bowling alley and a hairdresser. The service is friendly and the food came very quickly. Everything was very tasty and well prepared. The atmosphere is very modern, but also cozy.

Got a table at lunchtime despite not making a reservation. Food was plentiful and good. The waiter was on the move quickly. I liked it very much.

We went here for dinner and bowling with friends! The food itself is quite good, but the prices and portions are a joke! Prices like in a big city and the schnitzel for €18.70 in mini format! Craziness! Update: After claiming it was the wrong restaurant, we looked out the bill and oops it wasn't €18.70 but €18.50! After the wrong comment from the owner and therefore down to one star! Update 2.0: First to delete your comment with “wrong restaurant” and then to claim that the purchases are the same in Zwickau and Berlin! You probably also think that all guests don't have a plan?! A tiny schnitzel with fries for €18.50 is a joke for a city with almost 90k inhabitants! I hope that many potential guests read your nonsense and hopefully go somewhere else! And regarding her employee, if asked how the food was, hardly anyone will say too expensive! Continue to be so unreasonable! The guest is king, but apparently not with you! Update 3.0: All I have to do is look at the last negative reviews and it will be confirmed! Eating out today in Regensburg (140k inhabitants) and here a Viennese style schnitzel costs a whopping €15.90! And not in mini format!

Today we went here for dinner for the first time. The service was very plump and extremely attentive! The food was very tasty! We will come again.

This restaurant has gone extremely bad 😞. Very unfortunate. The duck was already underground last year and unfortunately again this year. For €28.50 you definitely expect a tender, juicy duck! The other guests weren't impressed with their dishes either. It's a shame, because it's actually a very cozy restaurant.

We were there as a group for dinner. The food was delicious 😋, the atmosphere was very cozy, but the service left a lot to be desired. The lady was sometimes very unfriendly and when I said goodbye to her: have a nice evening: she just said (in a snippy tone) that it was long over.

We stayed there for a family celebration. Everything is great, everything is great. Unfortunately, sleep was out of the question as there was a hall directly below our room where a big company Christmas party was taking place... with a DJ! Everything is free until 0:30 to sing and dance along. :-( After that, tables and chairs were pushed on the tiled floor until after 1:30. I would have liked another room, especially since most of them were free. Still a great house and delicious food.

Clocky and cozy. But all of this comes at the expense of flexibility. You eat what is on the menu. No problem for me and the food is very good, but my companion and anyone with the smallest extra requests has to spend a long time searching on the menu or choose another restaurant.

We had a high school year reunion with over 70 people. Everything was well organized and the food was very delicious. The staff was friendly and hard-working. Even when not everyone left immediately at midnight, it wasn't a problem. Everyone was able to say goodbye in peace. The restaurant is a good choice for every occasion.

Yesterday we had our 25th high school graduation reunion (Pesta class 1999) at the Gasthof zum Vogelsiedler. The food was really very good, "small" menu, great home-style dishes, no frozen junk with numbers in front of the dishes. The service staff were exactly as you would imagine as a guest, courteous and super friendly. The inn is impressive, everything is modern, well-kept and clean. I think everyone had a lot of fun and that was also due to the hospitality we were shown. If you want to celebrate something in Zwickau, with delicious food and in a relaxed atmosphere, I think this is the right place for you.

Telling me when I'm paying a bill of around €800 that I'm expected to tip 10% is quite an impertinence.!!!!! Happened on 9/6/24

Yesterday we were guests of a party, so I won't begin to express my surprise on site. Because you don't spoil your host's celebration. First of all, I would like to say that my comments should be understood as a suggestion for positive further development and not as a personal insult. I think this is necessary, after reading other reviews, I noticed or at least I have the impression that the innkeepers find it difficult to deal with criticism respectfully and appropriately. Now to the impression, my first surprise was the Brambacher Naturell that was laid out on the table, an easy-to-open bottle, the contents with the taste for me to take home, where I drink tap water. Then there was the "table buffet", there were fried potatoes, croquettes, dumplings, red cabbage, perhaps something that was Bavarian cabbage, mixed vegetables found together, mushrooms in "sauce" and at least three meat dishes. And then came vegan three times. Truffle risotto (rice with truffle oil) with a few steamed mushrooms. There we sat, with piles of vegetables in front of us that could have been prepared so that everyone could enjoy them. We assumed that there was butter or other animal ingredients everywhere because that's how we vegans were given the food. When we asked for a second helping we were given the same portion again. Our lovely hosts trusted that after telling us and asking whether vegan food was possible, everyone would get a nice meal. I don't want to say it wasn't tasty, but maybe I didn't want mushrooms or didn't eat any, then I would have had rice. Maybe I also wanted something fried, department stores and wholesalers have really great things to offer and maybe I just wanted to decide for myself how much I wanted. There is still a lot of potential for improvement here. With interest and curiosity in food, the fun of preparing new and old plant-based dishes/recipes, and with the current variety and selection of regional products, so much more is possible. We wish the innkeepers all the best, thank you for the hospitality and the neat and clean atmosphere. Addendum: The restaurant called the hosts and complained about the recession, you just have to imagine that. The food was ordered for us in the same way, then the restaurant should work on its advisory skills, its attitude and consider whether this work is right for them.

We had a very nice family celebration at Vogelsiedler. The food was very tasty and was exactly what we agreed with the restaurant beforehand. The host also had a very tasty meal for our vegans - truffle risotto with real truffles. They liked it so much that they wanted another helping. It was a successful evening for us. We can highly recommend the restaurant and would be happy to come back.

We were invited to a table buffet. It was very plentiful and the food was very good. Our daughter had a vegetarian dish which was very tasty. The staff was courteous and fulfilled every wish. We are happy to recommend the restaurant “zum Vogelsiedler”.

On the occasion of the celebration of Ms. W. Richter's 75th birthday. Everything went organizationally as planned in a very satisfactory and flexible manner. Our service person Lydia was always available for all personal matters, very friendly and polite. All guests were very satisfied with the dishes they ordered a la carte, both in terms of taste and presentation. Thank you very much and gladly again. Highly recommended from us.

Food doesn't taste good here anymore, it's a waste of money

We cook every day, sometimes down-to-earth, traditional, modern or reinterpreted. Learned, copied from grandparents, parents and TV. We are happy to pay more for good food with good products. Whatever we don't cook at home should be fine. So called and booked a table. The first positive impression when entering the restaurant quickly disappeared. We were seated in a not very comfortable hall with the charm of a cafeteria. Coffered ceiling, uncomfortable, loud and uninviting. There are problems when ordering a 3-course menu. According to the staff, it is questionable whether the chef can handle it. Salad, ragout fin, 2x steaks and 1x roast lamb, 2x apple strudel with ice cream. Wine, cola, non-alcoholic beer at a fair price if the quality is right. Unfortunately that doesn't work. Steaks completely cooked through (doneness was not asked at all), pounded completely thin. The menu sequence was more bad than good. How ignorant a boss, a restaurant owner, must be to not listen to his staff. Hot apple strudel and vanilla ice cream have no place on a slate plate. The ice cream kept running onto my table. The waiter couldn't serve it properly without making a mess. Slate belongs on the roof, but not as a plate. The world keeps turning and so does gastronomy. Sorry, we were disappointed. But your service is great, friendly and funny. We hope you don't delete the review. Get food for thought, e.g. from “My Local, Your Local”. Best regards

We went to an event at Vogelsiedler with a lot of people. The food was great, the service was really great and the atmosphere was lovingly designed. We felt very comfortable and welcome.

Food was OK, prices good, directions good, ambience and decor inn 90s. Service a bit overwhelmed but still OK

We celebrated our daughters starting school there in the club room. The positive first, the food was really great and filling, the ambience was very good. Communication with the cellars was also good if you had a concern. Now the negative, in the cost estimate provided by the presumably. The main waitress cost almost €800 for the entire buffet. But then almost 50% more was calculated. The reason given was that given the price it should have been clear that it wasn't enough. Then you can save yourself the cost estimate. And then maybe the boss should do something like that and not the waitress. It started at 3 p.m., we had agreed in advance that we would get the cake and deliver it in the morning. When the guests arrived at 3 p.m., nothing was prepared except the table decorations. We then waited 20 minutes until the cake was in the room and they asked for coffee. This should have been prepared. Two waiters were hired for our company who were siblings, which later turned out. Totally irrelevant in itself, if it hadn't been for the fact that the two of them were constantly pissing each other off in front of the guests and the bar wasn't working well. That is not how it works. In summary, one has to say that the food was really great, but the preparation and service couldn't keep up. You have to improve that.

We have been guests several times now and have been thrilled every time. The food is great. The dishes are always very lovingly prepared and definitely worth the price. The range of drinks is varied and the in-house limoncello as well as the wines from Villa Geissini are very tasty. The entire team is very friendly and does a great job. We feel very comfortable there and would love to come back.

Today we had dinner with seven people. A lot of things would have to be changed when preparing the food, which we also discussed on site, but unfortunately only with the service because the chef is home at 8 p.m., even though the kitchen closes at 8:30 p.m. according to the menu. I had chanterelle cream soup...it was far too thick with flour...more like porridge Then we had boiled potatoes with dill sauce and fried pike-perch with cucumber salad...a suggestion to the kitchen.. The breaded fish was put back into a dill sauce that was much too thick. You could serve it in a gravy boat... then stir the dill into the sauce just before serving... gray dill sauce doesn't look appetizing and is therefore It has also been kept warm for a while......and then perhaps serve the cucumber salad, which is served in a glass bowl, separately and not put it on the plate in the sauce. And what I also think is bad is that you get an ice cream sundae served on a warm plate.

All in all, a thoroughly successful evening. Food excellent. Service excellent. And there's absolutely nothing wrong with the speed either. We'd love to come back.
