Super delicious, traditional Middle Franconian 😍

I've eaten a lot of Franconian cuisine in my life, which is how it should be as a Franconian, but I have to say, this was a step up from the rest; it was simply delicious! I highly recommend it!

We enjoyed an early afternoon dinner here. Great service, great setting, great meal. Very large portions! The prices were also great. They have indoor and outdoor seating as well. We will be coming back again, because the ladies working there were so nice, they made us repeat customers. If you already have a favourite place, stop here anyway and try the food. You will not be disappointed.

We went there for dinner because of so many positive reviews. We had a Schäuferl with toilets. Half of the skin was burned and the other half was like rubber. Meat was dried on the side and no spices could be tasted. The rest was ok. The waitress was emotionless, no smile. When I said that the Schäuferl was not edible, there was no reaction or apology. Became. Removed without comment.

The food was delicious and the service was nice and friendly. We arrived shortly before two communion parties, but food and drinks were on the table in no time. Two separate side rooms are available for a home-style event. If we happen to be passing through again, this inn will be on our shortlist.

While passing through we got good home-style cooking here at a top price-performance ratio. I have never eaten such delicious homemade dumplings before, the roast pork with the sauce was a poem. The service was very friendly and a gem for every restaurant. Very cozy and accommodating

Small and fine family business where the chef cooks wonderfully herself. That's what you can look for today. Such a delicious and large Cordon Bleu - simply fantastic 😋.

We ended up here by chance and were surprised with the best Schäufele ever and a very tasty Cordonbleu, half of which I had to pack due to its size. Very friendly and helpful service. The ambience: A short journey through time and the Franconian childhood.

There were 6 of us without a reservation and it was made possible for us to stay. The service was very good. Very nice and friendly. Nice German cuisine. I had a Schäufele with toilets. One of the best I've eaten. Very tender meat with a lot of flavor even in the sauce. Can't be done better. Price performance was top. I can only recommend it to anyone who likes good German food.

It was my first time eating schnitzel during my trip to Germany, and I was lucky enough to have a delicious meal. The atmosphere is nice and the beer is delicious. Thank you for your kind response. The cordon bleu, schnitzel, sausage and pickled cabbage were all excellent.

Nice place that reminds you of old times with the plaque from the singing club. Franconian service very nice but firm. Nothing for pricing Food was good and solid. Luckily it's so hidden that the masses won't find it. Funny opening times but absolutely ok.

We were at the confirmation celebration of a wonderful little girl. The food was excellent and plentiful, and what we didn't eat, we took home. It was crazy and unforgettable!

The food is no longer that good, poor quality schnitzel meat and 70% burnt old fat. Roast scoops are soft but the sauces are processed with flavor enhancers. I think it's better to eat smaller, taste better and be 2 euros cheaper. The kitchen could do with a change in the menu. I will no longer recommend it.

Good Franconian cuisine on a one-page, handwritten menu. Additional food on the tables in front of the restaurant. Also suitable for smaller celebrations as there is an adjoining room.

We wanted to try the food that people say is so good... But many of the dishes are no longer available. Too bad. When we made the reservation (which is supposed to be the case) we were told, "I'm not cooking any more today!" - unfortunately that wasn't a joke... We looked for ambience in vain 😁

Very good economy with huge portions. Schnitzel Very cheap. Kneibe is quaint and so is the boss and waitress. Menu still handwritten. Come again.

A quaint restaurant with a very friendly, young waitress and an incredibly nice landlady who spontaneously took the time to have a little chat with us. The food was delicious and the portions were large - the price was right too! If we are in the area again we will definitely come back :)

Food is good, middle-class, older service is unfriendly, prices have risen sharply. 2 schnitzels €33 is hefty even if it's delicious. Unfortunately I won't be coming back because for this price I can go to Diepersdorf to the green tree and the ambience and service are great and when it comes up I pay €2 per meal, not for schnitzel, which are similarly priced, but it's a shame

We came by spontaneously on a Sunday. The service was very unfriendly and it took a long time before we were even offered a table. Unfortunately you couldn't get a smile out of the waitress. When we asked for the menu, we were told in a rather rough tone that there was only schnitzel and sauerbraten - and that on a Sunday (early evening). A younger waitress, on the other hand, was really friendly, but couldn't make up for the poor service from her colleague for us.

Great lunch, nice outdoor garden to eat in.

When I visited the inn, the landlady had a really bad cold (bacillus spreader), but she didn't miss the opportunity to serve and collect the food and drinks. Other staff were on site. Well, not so exciting. Eating more average, but large portions. Ambience: slightly better pub, despite the outdoor area, unfortunately not a feel-good atmosphere.

Crazy how good! The fact that there is still such good Franconian cuisine today... I eat Schäuferla around 10-15 times a year. That was the best I've ever had. Service is attentive, courteous and top! Thank you for the good time on Whit Monday!

I used to eat here often. Unfortunately, I don't think the food is that great lately, although the portions are still large. In my opinion it has deteriorated in terms of quality and taste. The beer garden has also been looking very run down lately, and action is definitely needed here! On our last visit, 2x Franconian Schäufele, to our dismay the rind/crust was covered in sauce. It's not common in Franconia and not desired. By the way, the side salad wasn't that great either. We'll wait and see how the trend in quality develops before going again.

We had dinner here today and the staff is super friendly. Our little daughter ran around everywhere and the waitresses were great to her. The food was very tasty. Especially the Schäuferle and the potato salad are highly recommended.

I wanted to book a table. I could just say my name. The boss told me in an unfriendly tone that “I don’t have time to chat”. I didn't know that so many people called the Red Lion to chat. Now we are choosing other restaurants in the future. There is enough choice in our area.

We were there as a hiking group in the next room, which can accommodate up to 27 participants. The food is, as usual, good and also fairly priced. Gladly again!

Gute fränkische Küche, große Portionen und netter Service. Das Ambiente etwas in die Jahre gekommen und der Beilagensalat ist leider nix (was bei den Portionen der Hauptgerichte aber nix ausmacht). Update Dezember 2023: Qualität des Essens (Cordon Bleu) hat leider nachgelassen. Und im Gastraum läuft eine Katze frei rum (bezüglich Hygiene nicht so gut und für Allergiker erst recht nicht).

Ein uriges Dorfgasthaus mit wirklich guter Hausmannskost. Die Portionen sind enorm und die Preise absolut in Ordnung. Der Service ist sehr flott und herzlich. Hier ist die Welt noch in Ordnung! Wir sind auf der Durchreise kurz von der Autobahn abgefahren um hier zu essen, weil der Umweg winzig und die Bewertungen gut waren. Das war absolut kein Fehler! Danke Google!

Essen ist wirklich super große Portionen sollte besser besucht werden

Wie in alten fränkischen Zeiten, gutes Essen zum guten Preis. Ich war seit ca. 3 Jahren nicht mehr dort, weil ich umgezogen bin. Nach wie vor alles super, die Schnitzel sind super, die Bedienung hat mich noch erkannt und ist immer noch superfreundlich (ganz schön viel super, ist halt so). Die Chefin ist ein echtes Original, nur durch sie ist es möglich, dass es immer noch die gleiche Qualität zu einem guten Preis gibt. Auch sie supernett, auf ihre fränkische Art.

Das Essen ist super. Man geht in einen gut Bürgerlichen Gasthof der auch das dazugehörige Flair hat. Die Portionen sind üppig und hier wie ich finde auch preislich in Ordnung. Es wird sich gut um einen gekümmert und für die kleinen hat die Wirtin auch ein Ü-Ei vorbei gebracht. Wir waren jetzt schon öfter hier und werden auch noch bei der ein oder anderen Gelegenheit wiederkommen. Der Außenbereich ist zwar überschaubar aber im Sommer doch eine nette Möglichkeit im freien zu sitzen. Der Gasthof liegt in einem Verkehrsberuhigten Bereich was sich wie ich finde beim Verkehrs Lärm auch bemerkbar gemacht hat.

Ein schlichter, gutbürgerlicher Gasthof mit liebenswerter Bedienung. Der Schweinebraten war zum Niederknien, die Portion stattlich und die Soße einfach genial. Wir kommen wieder.

Der Service war durch die vielen Gäste während einer Familienfeier etwas überfordert. Das Essen war nichts besonderes, aber okay. Vom Ambiente her ist der rote Löwe nicht überragend.

Eine typische fränkische Gaststätte. Irgendwie ist in der Gaststätte die Zeit stehengeblieben, was aber den guten Essen und sehr großen Portionen keinen Abbruch tut. ..... und es ist immer noch sehr viel, was auf dem Teller liegt, schmeckt immer noch sehr gut, ist aber teurer geworden.
