Had the best time eating here, our server Kyrylo was the nicest, he made great food suggestions and never rushed us. The Bavarian cream was divine!

Nice ambience! The indoor area is very crowded, but outdoor seating is available. We didn’t have a reservation and still managed to get a table. The food portions are huge 😅. I had read reviews saying the portions are big, but they are even bigger than other Bavarian restaurants in Germany. The dessert cake portions are also very generous and the daily cake (plum cake?) taste very good with cream. Prices are reasonable and the food tastes good. The crispy duck with orange and red cabbage is really tasty. The roasted pork was a little dry, but it comes with sauce so it was okay. We weren’t sure how to enjoy the side potatoes—maybe mixed with something? Septi is very friendly and helpful. She checked on us during the meal, and her smile made us feel very welcome. We wanted to pay with Amex, and she even changed the payment machine so we could—so sweet of her. “Terima Kasih, Septi!”

A reservation is highly recommended; otherwise, you may have to plan on a longer wait. Our snack board was very generous with bread and pretzels. The service staff was friendly, attentive, and prompt.

Excellent restaurant, full of traditional options and even more vegetables than most German menus. Pork roast and burger recommended from what we tried, but the home made bacon and caraway sauerkraut is excellent. Was also very excited to see palatchinke on the seasonal dessert menu, an uncommon and excellent dish with very high quality ice cream. Like most restaurants in the Berchtesgaden area, also beautiful scenery to sit outside, though also looked nice and cozy inside.

The restaurant was in middle of berchtesgaden. It was a very great place to visit and had all its facilities well maintained. Great food, we had a burrata salad, chicken schnitzel and bavarian burger.

We visited Gasthof NEUHAUS twice, and the food was simply fantastic both times! We tried dishes like Berchtesgadener Kasnocken and the Bavarian Burger. Both were fantastic! Service was good, but they were busy at times, so we sometimes had to wait a bit.

This is our second time here. The food is excellent and the service is very friendly. A definite recommendation.

We ordered two portions of half a pork knuckle with dumplings and sauerkraut, and they arrived in two large portions. The food was delicious, and the service was very attentive, friendly, and multilingual. The restaurant has a typical Bavarian atmosphere, is very clean, and offers excellent value for money. The restaurant is located close to the town center but unfortunately doesn't have its own parking. The inexpensive parking option is available in the large public underground garage about 100 meters away.

Berchtesgaden is one of the most stunning places you could visit. We arrived on Saturday 14th June 2025 from Munich. I had couple of beers in Gastof Neuhaus in 2024 but no food. On my return, in a party of three, we had an early lunch. Cold cut platter with farmers bread, Schnitzel with fries & sald and Kasespetsel. Our meal was washed down with a Helles & Weißbier. The consensus was that the food was not only excellent but there was plenty of it. The restaurant is aesthetically pleasing inside and out. Toilets are spotless too. I would absolutely recommend a visit to Gastof Neuhaus if you happen to be in Berchtesgaden.

Visited in August. Beautiful mountain views on the upper, sunny terrace. Centrally located in the charming village of Berchtesgaden. Ordered a Bavarian burger, water, and beer (0.5l). The burger was better quality than what you can usually get in restaurants. The service was quick and very friendly. The price-quality ratio was excellent.

The food here is truly excellent, upscale. The service is as it should be: discreet yet attentive. The dining room deserves special mention: very elegant and tastefully decorated. The portions are very large, so you should only order the soup starter if you're really hungry.

First, praise: the sausage salad and the Nuremberg roast pork were very tasty. At the next table, there was a cheese platter for two people, which is a shame we didn't get it. It looked absolutely delicious. The ambiance was also very nice; we sat outside. Now, criticism. I had the goulash soup, which tasted good, but it had little to do with goulash. The garnish consisted of potatoes, and the bit of goulash that was the size of my little fingernail, and you could count it. A real shame. The temperature was lukewarm.

It was very nice here. The beer garden and the restaurant were very clean and beautifully renovated. The food was delicious, and the service was incredibly friendly and accommodating! See you soon!

This is always one of our favorites when we are in Berchtesgaden. I had the Schweinshaxe and my wife had the Jungschweinebraten. We couldn’t stop eating our own dishes and reaching across the table to try the others dish! Their food is always the best and their service is also top notch. The food is truly delicious (Leberkäse and knuckle of pork) and the ambiance is just what you'd expect on a Bavarian vacation. Be prepared to wait a bit in the evenings. The waiters, however, make every effort to find you a seat promptly. Very friendly.

Partly unfriendly service, food good

The best restaurant—in our opinion—in Berchtesgaden. If you haven't eaten a knuckle of pork there, you're missing out. Wonderful crust and juicy meat, large bread dumplings, and fresh salad. The roast pork is also great; you'd have to eat the entire menu! The staff is fast and friendly. You should also try the anniversary beer; it's delicious. We've been there in previous years and again this year. Give it a try! Update July 2025: Looks like the kitchen has a new chef: the knuckle of pork now has a rock-hard crust. No longer recommended.

The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The atmosphere was amazing, there was local music playing during lunch, we really enjoyed it. I take the overall rating down for the service. Before we could even choose what to eat, she asked us about food and drinks, and she was insistent. On the contrary, when we wanted to pay, the waiter pretended not to see us and after we asked him for the bill, he walked past us four times and ignored us for 15 minutes. In the end, we paid, but unfortunately it ruined the whole experience of the restaurant

The Gasthof Neuhaus in Berchtesgaden is highly recommended! The beer garden is beautiful and invites you to linger – cozy, quaint, and yet very well-maintained. The service was extremely friendly, attentive, and quick, making you feel immediately at home. The cuisine deserves special mention: delicious, traditional dishes, freshly prepared and served with love. If you want to experience Bavarian hospitality in an authentic atmosphere, this is the place for you!

We were unsure if this would live up to our expectations, as it’s in the central part of Berchtesgaden and is consistently crowded. But we were blown away! We came in right before the kitchen closed, and yet the staff was quick, kind, and attentive, and the food was the best Bavarian cuisine we’ve had this entire week! We got the pork schnitzel and the zwiebelrostbraten and both were outstanding —we ate every single bite. The biergarden is also charming and had a wonderful energy to it. Highly recommend!!

The service was first-class: all our requests were met with friendliness and attention. The food was truly outstanding. My wife and I opted for a vegetarian dish – the cheese dumplings were simply the best we've ever eaten! You definitely get high-quality food for your money here. We can wholeheartedly recommend the Gasthof Neuhaus and would love to return!

Beautiful beer garden in the heart of Berchtesgaden. We had a schnitzel and cheese dumplings, along with a truly delicious coleslaw. Prices were reasonable. Excellent service and excellent food. We'd be happy to come back. We even had live music, which was especially great.

Always happy to have a light beer

If you're craving a student meal, this is the best. Crispy skin, tender meat, and enough for two. The cabbage kimchi and stir-fried red cabbage are also excellent!! The beer is also excellent, and I'd love to come back.

The food, service, and outdoor ambiance were excellent. Unfortunately, we were only passing through; this is an inn we would visit more often.

Went to Gasthaus Neuhaus today – and it was definitely the first and last time. We had our own table until, despite clearly saying "no," strangers were simply added to our table. To me, that's nothing less than outrageous profit maximization at the expense of paying guests. The food was equally disappointing: The inn-style burrata had absolutely no flavor, and the devil's toast with chicken was so dry it was barely edible. Simply unacceptable for an inn in this price range. Never again – and certainly not a recommendation to friends or acquaintances.

There were four of us for my birthday and we went to the restaurant because of the ambiance. We ordered pork knuckle, a Bavarian burger and mushrooms with dumplings, which cost over 20 euros. The burger was cold, so I sent it back. We didn't get a new burger, but a warmed-up one, which was completely dry and inedible. The mushrooms, which cost over 20 euros, were a joke in terms of size and came with tomato sauce, so the mushrooms had no taste at all. The pork knuckle was very good. When we told the waiter this when clearing away, he said he couldn't fire the chef, which was simply a disgrace!!! He didn't offer us any compensation, it's unbelievable how they treat customers.

Opinions within the family are divided here: some love it, others are much more reserved. It's definitely a tourist attraction and, in that sense, certainly a showcase for Bavarian hospitality. I didn't find the food quality particularly outstanding, nor the ambiance. But it's certainly one of the better restaurants.

We've been coming to Berchtesgaden for years to vacation...we've tried lots of local restaurants and always end up at Neuhaus..there are very short waits for food and drinks even when the beer garden and restaurant are very full..the staff and service is, in my opinion, the best I've experienced in Germany...and no, this isn't a bought review..no matter who serves you, no one is ever annoyed or stressed...especially as a regular customer you always get the feeling that the staff are doing everything they can to ensure you come back...many greetings from the Harz and we're looking forward to our next vacation in Berchtesgaden..!

Mostly great experience, except for the smokers at a nearby table (we sat outdoors on a gorgeous evening) and the kitchen ran out of Schweinshaxn.

The waiters were very nice, we didn't have to wait long to get our order. Adequate portions, good value for money. Despite the fact that it is a quiet place next to the pedestrian street, you can have a conversation without being disturbed by the street noise. The Vienna schnitzel and pork knuckle with bacon, sauerkraut and grated horseradish were very tasty.

I was just in the beer garden; friendly staff, pleasant shade, and everything was manageable. I had 1/4 farm-bred duck with side dishes for €19.50, which was perfectly fine, and most importantly, I haven't had such a good meal in a long time. The meat was tender, and you savored every bite. If I'm ever in the area again, I'd love to come back.

We received a very friendly welcome and were quickly assigned a table in a separate dining room that was spontaneously opened, even though we hadn't reserved. There were four of us at this restaurant. If you want to avoid an expensive lesson, don't go to this place. The starter (a sausage salad with two slices of bread) was okay - but the bread was from the day before yesterday and had a duck-chow flavor. We had three pork knuckles, which were simply 70% fat! Not crispy at all - it simply tasted like a barnyard. The white cabbage salad was unbeatable in terms of vinegar. The packaged stuff from Penny or Aldi tastes better! The four of us had to pay almost €100, and when I politely and matter-of-factly expressed my displeasure, we didn't get a cent off. Sad! STAY AWAY! Bad restaurant.

Never again! You can get better knuckle of pork even in Northern Germany. Service was super friendly! Food was terrible! Salad was disgusting and the knuckles should have been crispy. Inedible! The day before yesterday we went to Bier Adam – it's worth the wait. A burger at McDonald's is even more worthwhile.

We sat in the lovely beer garden. I was looking forward to Bavarian specialties after the long car ride. Unfortunately, the knuckle of pork and roast pork were sold out by the afternoon. The service was good and quick. Unfortunately, none of us were that impressed with the food.

The first visit was very good. The beer garden was very busy, but the service was still very attentive and friendly. The food was very well prepared. The second visit was unfortunately disappointing; this time we were seated inside. The waitress was busy, but not as busy as before in the beer garden. Unfortunately, the waitress didn't really pay any attention to us; we constantly had to call for attention. They shushed us with a "Right away" or "no time." After we ordered and the food arrived, one of my companions' side dishes and the meat on her burger were cold. We complained to the waitress about the side dish, who just stared at us with wide eyes, took the side dish without a word, and replaced it. The new side dish was handed over with a snippy "here are the hot fries." It's a shame that you experience two different sides here.

The food was okay. Unfortunately, we were seated at a table where another couple was sitting, who weren't asked and weren't happy about it, creating an unpleasant atmosphere. After they left, we were seated at the table with strangers without asking. We reported this back to the waiter, who then began to argue and showed no understanding.

Everything was great. The service was super friendly and welcoming. The place is very pretty, and they have space both inside and outside. The food was very good, and the portions were large. I would recommend sharing the duck, for example. The prices were reasonable for the area, so I recommend it if you visit. We were very comfortable.
