Gasthof Hammer in Vilseck

I only at ate here I didn't book a room. I will say the atmosphere was nice and what I expected a german restaurant to look like. The food tasted good we had schnitzel and fried pork among our dishes. The taste was good but the after taste of salt was a bit much all in all good meal. I do highly suggest a salad to go with the meal.

Are you craving for some scrumptious German food? Then look no further than this fine establishment to satisfy your appetite. Starting with their fresh salad bar and followed by all their delicious menu entries there is something for even the pickiest of eaters here. I love their Schnitzel 😋 they also dish out some delicious ribs. If German food is not your favorite then try one of their handmade to order burgers. However, some of my favorites are their Jäegerschnitzel or Cordon Blue with fries, Turkey medallions with potato croquettes, and their Kräuterpfandl with cheese späetzle and crispy bacon. All these dishes are full of flavor and served in generous portions. Customer service is excellent, and I am always greeted with a smile which makes me feel like family. This place is also an excellent location for any special occasions such as birthday parties, anniversary celebrations, or just to get together with friends and family for a nice time and of course some beer. A great restaurant with very, very friendly staff and fantastic cuisine. You can sit very comfortably in the beer garden and, not unimportantly, there are enough parking spaces ;-) We will definitely be back.

Awesome dinner spot right in the heart of Vilseck. Can't rate the rooms because we did not stay the night. The schnitzel was freshly prepared, cooked perfectly and delicious. Service was spot on great and the price for everything was most definitely right! 100% would eat here again! ***Update*** My family and I have eaten here 6 times now over the past 3 months - we've never had bad service or a bad meal. By far this is one of our favorite local restaurants in the area!

Very nice beer garden, clean toilets and nice staff. The food was excellent. The location has a bit of a fabric area but the restaurant has been renovated very lovingly and interestingly. Gladly again

Cozy tavern in the village of Vilseck. Lively and busy on a Thursday night. Traditional menu includes the German staples, a few Bavarian specialties, and some tasty seasonal options. Potato soup and jägerschnitzel were delicious. Bier vom fass included a few from Veldensteiner, a somewhat local brewery, and a delicious Dunkles from Simon (another “local”). Reasonable prices and friendly staff.

I can't understand how you can give this more than 2 stars. We ate here and it was just bad. I had a liver dumpling soup as a starter and a wild mushroom pancake as my main course. The liver dumpling soup came quickly and was okay. It wasn't an explosion, but it's nice to eat something like that every now and then. Even though I'm not much of a soup person. A solid hour after my daughter (2 years old) had already eaten her fish fingers and fries and was already feeling jittery, we were apologized for the circumstances. Apparently the chef sipped his finished sauce and fell asleep due to the bland taste. Short fun on the side. The forest mushroom pancake wasn't anything special. Not particularly prepared. The appearance of the pan was common. No craftsmanship could be identified with the Spätzle. The dish was listed on the menu without pepper. However, there was quite a bit of pepper in it. But that's not noticeable when you hear the stones from the unwashed mushrooms croaking between your teeth all the time. So all is well. The pork was the only time-consuming thing. But even that had to happen quickly. You can also turn it over once on high heat and serve it straight away. Black on the outside and slightly pink on the inside. You'll be happy with every bite. The sauce was 100% not homemade and actually tasted worse than from the Knorr package. When you squint at the pizzas that the waitresses bring to other tables, you wonder where you actually ended up here. We were charged for the salad despite not using it. We then gave in because we didn’t want to spend an unnecessary moment longer in this “restaurant”. My wife had a turkey schnitzel with fries. It wasn't a highlight either. Nevertheless, I have to admit that the waitresses were very attentive and polite. Even though I have already expressed this review orally. The only sentence that came out was: “That was the first time I’ve heard something like that.” Unfortunately, they don't serve food any faster than the kitchen cooks. Maybe just change employers? Basically, I would give the waitresses a pity star, but I find the review of 4.6 stars completely unjustified. I've been to many restaurants. Also with 4.9 stars. And the difference is definitely insufficient.

They seriously have the best hamburgers. Amazing Belgian fries too. I've had their schnitzel and some other specials including some small meatloafs and mashed potatoes...all of them amazing. Never even a hint of problems with their food.

The salad buffet is a great thing and tastes very good too. For dinner we had cream roast in chanterelle sauce. The portion was generous, but the sauce for a cream sauce was very thick and not suitable.

Went here for dinner on a Friday night. Made a reservation online thinking I may need to - I didn't. The experience was great. Great food, service, prices, all of it. They do take credit card, FYI. 100%: will be going back.

War seit langer Zeit mal wieder mit Kumpels essen. Service sehr freundlich, viele bekannte Gesichter und super Essen. Der Jalapeno-Burger war hervorragend. Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist sehr gut, weiter so.

Food was amazing and service was very polite

Das Essen war nicht schlecht ich hatte schon besseres aber auch schon schlechteres es hat mich nicht vom hocker gerissen. Die Portionen waren WINZIG für den PREIS!!! Hähnchenbrust mit Bratkartoffeln mini also eigentlich appetizer 15 Euro da habe ich mehr davon wenn ich einen Döner kaufe. Die Bedienung hat einen dezent genervten Eindruck gemacht. Alles in allem wars okay. Wiederholungsbedarf eher nicht.

Delicious local food with a neighborhood feel. Hits the spot with stick-to-your-ribs German fare. Prices are legit, brews cheap AF, and service all-around attentive and responsive--very much so by European standards. This is a hearty feel-good eatery and eclipses most of the other nearby restaurants by far. You will enjoy it too. Watch.

Lovely german decor. They are a medium range of german cuisine to select from. Order the jägerschnitzel which was delicious and washed it down with a wine spritzer. Would recommend if you are in the area and want a taste of German food.

Wir waren gestern mit 23 Wanderern beim Gasthof Hammer in Vilseck. Bewirtet wurden wir in einem etwas versteckt liegendem Nebenzimmer, das in sich schon sehr sehenswert war. Eine Art Gewölbekeller mit Geweihen an der Wand. Die gewählten Speisen wurden sehr nett arrangiert und das Essen schmeckte allen hervorragend. Bei den vielen angebotenen Speisen hatte man durchaus die Wahl der Qual, aber jeder hat sein Lieblingsessen gefunden. Besonders gefreut haben wir uns über das Salatbuffet, das in der heutigen Zeit keine Selbstverständlichkeit mehr ist oder extra teuer bezahlt werden muss. Das Preis-/ Leistungsverhältnis ist sehr gut. Die Bedienungen waren flott und sehr freundlich. Alles im allem eine 100%ige Weiterempfehlung meinerseits.

Das Essen im Restaurant war sehr lecker, man konnte sich seinen Salat selbst zusammenstellen und hatte an einem Salat-Buffet eine große Auswahl. Man kann draußen an der Straße sitzen (kaum Verkehr) oder drinnen im Restaurant. Das Bier hat leider nicht geschmeckt, dafür aber die einzelnen Gerichte. Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis ist in Ordnung. Ich empfehle das Restaurant gern weiter 👍

Ein sehr gutes deutsches Wirtshaus. Deutsche Küche. Tolles Team. Das Essen ist hervorragend. Das Donnerstagsangebot ist auch immer wieder toll.

We love this place and so did our American relatives who we took there to eat when visiting us. The portions are big, the prices legit and they have quick, friendly service for their delicious tasting food. I love the Currywurst and their Schnitzel, and adore the fact they have a salad bar so you can decide which salad you’d like with which dressing.

Was here in 2006-2009 the food is amazing the staff is friendly. For a military town they kept it more authentic but it's American friendly for kids. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone.

A relax atmosphere, casual and good service. Friendly waitressing and very accommodating. The food we order was finger food to accompany with local beer and wine.

The food is delicious but the menu is fairly small. The service is fairly speedy and the waiters and waitresses are extremely nice and helpful.

Wir gehen regelmäßig mit unsere Familie zum "Gasthof Hammer" zum Essen. Meine Kinder, meine Frau und viele weitere Freunde wurden noch nie enttäuscht. Egal ob Klassiker wie Schweinebraten, Sauerbraten, Schnitzel oder raffinierte Lendchen mit Pilzrahmsoße - alles schmeckt wunderbar köstlich!

Service has always been excellent and food is very good. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. Just wish they were open to the public more often!
