We went to the restaurant for lunch today with 60 people. One waitress managed to serve our group drinks and pre-ordered food within 70 minutes, and even paid for it. Respect! The food was very good and reasonably priced.

We were in Kelheim a month ago. After a poor meal at another restaurant in the old town, we went to Berzl for an after-work beer in the beer garden. After observing the plates brought to other guests and hearing the praise from a larger group, we decided to go there the following day. We didn't regret it and became regulars for our entire vacation. Great location, beautiful beer garden, quaint and lovingly decorated inside, and great service. The food was always excellent and the value for money unbeatable. If we ever find ourselves in the Altmühl Valley again, we know where we'll prefer to eat.

The service is attentive, but as soon as the "beer garden" gets busy, it becomes overwhelmed and uncoordinated. The food is cheap, but it's literally swimming in grease.

The price/performance ratio was very good. The food arrived very quickly. The steamed dumplings, yeast dumplings, and chocolate cake are highly recommended. The service seemed a bit disorganized at times but was friendly.

Mother's Day, after our visit to a Kelheim beer garden that was a disaster, we went looking for another beer garden because 2 family members still had nothing to eat. Thank God we found it. When we arrived at the Gasthof Berzl we were given a table in the rustic beer garden. Service was friendly, quick and brought the drinks on the ball. The hungry ones decided on roast pork and schnitzel, which were quickly available at the table. The rest had dessert. Steamed dumplings with vanilla sauce to kneel down on Pancakes with ice cream and cream Tiramisu etc Thanks for the nice end to a terrible day

I have been a guest at the Gasthof Berzl every year since 2017. I can only rate the economy as I have never been to the hotel there. The Berzl is the cheapest Bavarian inn in downtown Kelheim. Not only the price but also the quality of the food is impressive. The staff is always friendly and quick.

Der Gasthof Berzl hat einen sehr schönen Biergarten hinter dem Haus. Das Gasthaus ist im Innenbereich gasthaustypisch eingerichtet. Unsere Speisen haben geschmeckt und waren von der Portionsgröße reichlich bemessen. Die Bedienungen waren freundlich und haben gerne Fragen zu den einzelnen Gerichten beantwortet. Das Preisniveau würde ich als günstig bezeichnen.

This is what a traditional Bavarian tavern should be like! Anyone who is in Kelheim and doesn't eat there can't be helped...

My visit was overall pleasant, but not entirely seamless. I had called in advance to inquire whether it would be possible to get a poultry schnitzel, even though it wasn't on the menu. I was assured that it wouldn't be a problem, which is why I was really looking forward to it. But when I arrived at the restaurant just a few minutes later, I was suddenly told that it wasn't possible. That was disappointing, especially since I had come specifically for that. As an alternative, I was recommended venison goulash, which was very tasty. However, I would have liked the original promise to be kept, or at least clear information to be provided directly over the phone. The service was friendly overall, but the lack of coordination between the phone and the kitchen somewhat dampened my impression. With better communication, the restaurant could truly be a highly recommended place. Conclusion: A quaint restaurant with delicious food, but with room for improvement in the organization.

Went here for lunch with friends today. It was very good! Unfortunately we missed the red cabbage in the roulade 🤷🏻‍♀️ The sauerkraut was also missing from the roast pork - at least for us. Unfortunately you couldn't order one or the other separately! We thought that was a shame and would be happy to see an improvement! Otherwise highly recommended ☺️

Inn=great! Host=NoGo!!! Yesterday (not for the first time) we went to Berzl for dinner with some friends at the musicians' meeting. It was a great evening, good atmosphere, very tasty food and, apart from the annoying service at times, it was really good. After paying (almost €500 with a good tip) and asking for a last shot, the old innkeeper called it a *subterranean fecal swear word*, "it's sneaking up on you, you A...." and a lot more, it's not possible! Even if the innkeeper was perhaps over-thirsty, one could have at least expected an “intervention” or an “apology” from the sober landlady standing next to him or from the staff. You won't see me and I think most of our group again any time soon! Very unfortunate!!!

Wir waren mit Freunden da und haben verschiedenste Gerichte gehabt. Alle waren sehr gut, insbesondere die Hausplatte war sehr ausgiebig. Die Preise waren durchwegs mehr als angemessen, der Service war ebenso sehr zuvorkommend. Zusammengefasst, immer wieder gerne.

We were there around 3 p.m., ordered four dishes and were really disappointed. Sauerbraten was already sold out and after our dishes were brought to the table within 10 minutes, it was clear to all of us that nothing was freshly prepared. The currywurst came with a handful of fries and a dollop of sauce - in terms of taste, you could have eaten cardboard, it would probably have been spicier. The price is ok at just under €10. The grill plate was just ridiculous and has never seen the grill. This also came with a handful of fries, the meat and the sausage were in the pan for about 2 minutes. In terms of color, I got more tan this summer than all the meat on my plate. Definitely misadvertised and should be called a “pan plate”. Charging €16.50 for it is really cheeky. The cream mushrooms with bread dumplings were just bland. The sauce simply tasted like Maggi soup and the dumpling was tasteless. The price of €11.90 for a handful of mushrooms with a dumpling was a disgrace. The lumberjack steak with roasted potatoes was ok - you could definitely have gotten more out of it in terms of taste for €12.50. The two small mixed salads were also bland. On the whole, it was an absolute disappointment in terms of taste, the food was carelessly prepared and none of us were full at the end. It was my mother's birthday today and we wanted to go out for a nice meal and were extremely disappointed. My parents ate here several times many years ago and were always satisfied. Unfortunately, today was a “once and never again” experience. The staff was at least friendly and the location of the inn is great.

I can't say anything about the hotel, but we had food there and it was really very good. Friendly service, good food and very child-friendly. The portions are large and I found the prices fair. Thank you very much for the wonderful time with you!

Der eine Stern ist nur für die Lage. Da die Hälfte der Tische im Biergarten belegt waren und die anderen reserviert, haben wir nach der Möglichkeit im Haus zu essen gefragt. Wir wurden aber nur sehr unfreundlich darauf hingewiesen eben vorher zu reservieren. Das hätte man auch freundlich tun können. Wir haben dann in einem anderen Haus gegessen, wo Service noch richtig gelebt wird. Diese Pinte hier ist nicht weiter zu empfehlen.

Beautiful inn with a great beer garden in the immediate vicinity of the Altmühl. We stopped there for a lunch break. You can sit beautifully outside. Putting tables together was no problem at all and the inn also has several children's chairs. Our order was taken quickly and prepared quickly. We had sausage salad, dumplings, white sausages, fries and a soup. We thought it was a shame that there were no pretzels with the white sausage. Overall it tasted delicious and the drinks were also excellent. Unfortunately I cannot rate the rooms.
