We just went there spontaneously and got a table. The food was fantastic. Absolutely delicious and the portions were huge. I also really liked the menu. You're sure to find something you like.

We have eaten at this restaurant several times and were previously satisfied. However, the quality and value for money have declined significantly. Today, we received truly poor-quality meat and completely inedible side dishes. Unfortunately, when we returned the food, the kitchen offered no apology, no discount, nothing. Furthermore, we were charged the full price even though the dish was uneaten! This is unacceptable! We will never return to this restaurant and find the owners' behavior outrageous and completely inappropriate.

We were only there for the meal. We had the roast pork and the sauerbraten (though we were missing the red cabbage on both), the fish cakes, a side salad, and drinks. Good German food, nothing groundbreaking. The price was okay at €46. The restrooms were clean. The staff was friendly.

We went to the restaurant for lunch today with 60 people. One waitress managed to serve our group drinks and pre-ordered food within 70 minutes, and even paid for it. Respect! The food was very good and reasonably priced.

We were in Kelheim a month ago. After a poor meal at another restaurant in the old town, we went to Berzl for an after-work beer in the beer garden. After observing the plates brought to other guests and hearing the praise from a larger group, we decided to go there the following day. We didn't regret it and became regulars for our entire vacation. Great location, beautiful beer garden, quaint and lovingly decorated inside, and great service. The food was always excellent and the value for money unbeatable. If we ever find ourselves in the Altmühl Valley again, we know where we'll prefer to eat.

The service is attentive, but as soon as the "beer garden" gets busy, it becomes overwhelmed and uncoordinated. The food is cheap, but it's literally swimming in grease.

The price/performance ratio was very good. The food arrived very quickly. The steamed dumplings, yeast dumplings, and chocolate cake are highly recommended. The service seemed a bit disorganized at times but was friendly.

Mother's Day, after our visit to a Kelheim beer garden that was a disaster, we went looking for another beer garden because 2 family members still had nothing to eat. Thank God we found it. When we arrived at the Gasthof Berzl we were given a table in the rustic beer garden. Service was friendly, quick and brought the drinks on the ball. The hungry ones decided on roast pork and schnitzel, which were quickly available at the table. The rest had dessert. Steamed dumplings with vanilla sauce to kneel down on Pancakes with ice cream and cream Tiramisu etc Thanks for the nice end to a terrible day

I have been a guest at the Gasthof Berzl every year since 2017. I can only rate the economy as I have never been to the hotel there. The Berzl is the cheapest Bavarian inn in downtown Kelheim. Not only the price but also the quality of the food is impressive. The staff is always friendly and quick.

Der Gasthof Berzl hat einen sehr schönen Biergarten hinter dem Haus. Das Gasthaus ist im Innenbereich gasthaustypisch eingerichtet. Unsere Speisen haben geschmeckt und waren von der Portionsgröße reichlich bemessen. Die Bedienungen waren freundlich und haben gerne Fragen zu den einzelnen Gerichten beantwortet. Das Preisniveau würde ich als günstig bezeichnen.

This is what a traditional Bavarian tavern should be like! Anyone who is in Kelheim and doesn't eat there can't be helped...

My visit was overall pleasant, but not entirely seamless. I had called in advance to inquire whether it would be possible to get a poultry schnitzel, even though it wasn't on the menu. I was assured that it wouldn't be a problem, which is why I was really looking forward to it. But when I arrived at the restaurant just a few minutes later, I was suddenly told that it wasn't possible. That was disappointing, especially since I had come specifically for that. As an alternative, I was recommended venison goulash, which was very tasty. However, I would have liked the original promise to be kept, or at least clear information to be provided directly over the phone. The service was friendly overall, but the lack of coordination between the phone and the kitchen somewhat dampened my impression. With better communication, the restaurant could truly be a highly recommended place. Conclusion: A quaint restaurant with delicious food, but with room for improvement in the organization.

Inn=great! Host=NoGo!!! Yesterday (not for the first time) we went to Berzl for dinner with some friends at the musicians' meeting. It was a great evening, good atmosphere, very tasty food and, apart from the annoying service at times, it was really good. After paying (almost €500 with a good tip) and asking for a last shot, the old innkeeper called it a *subterranean fecal swear word*, "it's sneaking up on you, you A...." and a lot more, it's not possible! Even if the innkeeper was perhaps over-thirsty, one could have at least expected an “intervention” or an “apology” from the sober landlady standing next to him or from the staff. You won't see me and I think most of our group again any time soon! Very unfortunate!!!

Went here for lunch with friends today. It was very good! Unfortunately we missed the red cabbage in the roulade 🤷🏻‍♀️ The sauerkraut was also missing from the roast pork - at least for us. Unfortunately you couldn't order one or the other separately! We thought that was a shame and would be happy to see an improvement! Otherwise highly recommended ☺️
