Delicious dishes, very friendly service!

The schnitzel and fries were simply nothing (it tasted like it came from a deep fryer, but I was assured it wasn't; it was so good that I sent half back. That's saying something to me...). What did score points was the salad for €3.50, the very attentive service, and the ambiance. But I won't be coming back for the main course. What a shame...

Great food at reasonable prices

The tarte flambée, salad, and ostrich platter were great. But the breaded schnitzel was disappointing. It was tough and looked like it was fried in old fat. It could definitely be better.

We went there for the first time. It was packed, but we still managed to get a seat for two. The service was great, and the food was good and fast. We'll be back.

Great! Very popular, so it's best to make a reservation. Parking is sometimes difficult, even though there are plenty right across the street. As I said... the Straußi is very popular.

While the sunny terrace is a definite plus, the experience leaves something to be desired. The glacial pace of the service was a real drawback; managing only two drinks in three hours suggests significant delays in taking and fulfilling orders. And while there's comfort in familiar German dishes, the lack of innovation in the kitchen means the food, while adequate, won't exactly excite your palate. So, if you're looking for a leisurely drink in the sun and aren't in a hurry, this spot could work. Just don't expect a culinary adventure or lightning-fast service.

Came to these ostriches today to eat outside in the garden restaurant. A friend of ours is lactose intolerant and it wasn't possible to prepare a salad to eat with vinegar and oil! Otherwise the food is pretty good with good portions and reasonable pricing.

Tried a total of 3 times in 3 years and totally failed 3 times.... NEVER MORE STRAUẞI in Buchholz. I wouldn't even put these run-of-the-mill meals on a dog. Staff was and is very snippy and not service-oriented. My well-intentioned experience report.

I can wholeheartedly recommend the inn: the playground and playroom for the children, the top service for the adults, the fantastic home-style food (huge portions) and the ambience that exudes so much coziness and invites you to wander. And even though all the tables were occupied, the acoustics were still quite pleasant.

This inn is definitely worth recommending! A rustic dining room with several areas and a quaint beer garden invite you to linger. The nimble, polite, and motivated staff quickly fulfill guests' requests and are clearly interested in their well-being. I was surprised that there was no soup on the menu, but it wouldn't be necessary given the portion sizes. I also really like the fact that you can combine many dishes to your own taste, and some are labeled separately if you want to order just a smaller portion. I was completely impressed with the taste. My side salad was delicious; each portion was individually seasoned, and everything was fresh and lovingly prepared. When I'm out and about, I like to try the regional specialties. So I opted for the Black Forest Schäufele with Brädle (a kind of pork shoulder), which was a very good choice. Truly delicious, a good portion size, and here, too, you could see that it was lovingly prepared. I think the price-performance ratio is very fair, and combined with the rustic interior, I'll definitely be back. Thank you!

A wonderful place to enjoy the first warm days of spring. Despite being at full capacity, very friendly service staff and extremely tasty, freshly prepared dishes (absolute tip: Ostrich plate with turkey steak and lukewarm chocolate cake). I always enjoy coming here and recommend that anyone who is in the area stop by Kurys.

Anyone who likes ostrich farming will get their money's worth here. Food good, prices good, attention from the very young staff is simply praiseworthy. I will go there again

We're practically regulars. We go there spontaneously every now and then. It's possible for two people, unless it's rush hour. Otherwise, you have to reserve very early.

With a group of almost 40 people, we registered for dinner at the Gasthaus zur Straußi in Waldkirch in mid-September. It was a positive experience in every respect: very fine food in generous portions, good value for money, friendly and attentive service. Our advance information regarding a tight time frame was taken into account through very quick service. Thanks to the team!

We have enjoyed visiting them for years, even as “real ostriches” with corresponding offers. Ausnder Straußi became an inn with corresponding advantages and disadvantages. It is still good and a highly recommended address for delicious Baden food and an exceptionally rustic ambience and friendly atmosphere. The small play area in the house and in the parking lot makes it particularly relaxing for parents with children. Unfortunately, we also have a small (big) “but”: What we miss now are the little Baden highlights. For example, the lard bread is no longer on the menu. It was a wonderful start to a cozy meal. Farm, mmm! The snack plate with all sorts of delicious ham, bacon, sausage, cheese etc. Plus a schnapps (which is still available). A pleasure that is now missing, to name just two examples. There are still a lot of dishes there, but it feels like there are only those that can be handled well in a restaurant. Nevertheless, the card offers a lot of good things. But there are a few different Straussi specialties missing here and there, some of which we came specifically for. The service itself is very friendly and we are now thinly staffed everywhere. It obviously helps if the service staff knows you, as the guests are more likely to have their drink and food on their table, clearly after they arrive, as we were able to observe ;-) In any case, a real recommendation visually, qualitatively and in terms of selection

Although the outside area was almost full, we didn't have to wait long for service. The drinks arrived quickly and not long afterwards the food was on the table. I had nice, juicy schnitzel and was completely satisfied. The price for this dish and drink was just over twenty euros.

We were there in a group of 8 people. And everything was just great! The service was very friendly. All the food came together. The portions were really big and very tasty. The desserts too. The price-performance ratio was completely fine. We will definitely go there again.

Had the cream schnitzel and a fresh side salad with it 💪 My neighbor at the table had a huge tarte flambée. Besides, I only saw Hugo and sweets from the desert menu. Anyone who leaves the table here hungry has dropped something. Portions huge.

Is recommended, but unfortunately not for vegetarians or people who don't eat pork, as Brägele is generally only available with bacon and these are included in many dishes. It's a shame, as a vegetarian I can't order much warm food there. This is a weak offer these days.

What I actually wanted was no longer there. But there was still plenty to choose from. Even schnitzel with potato salad. Simple but good.

It is worth making a reservation in advance. In the middle of the week (Wednesday) the place is full. The food was very good, fresh, large portions. The service was very nice and competent. A very atmospheric place with an interesting atmosphere. Lots of seating inside and out. Children welcome.

Verry crowed place, s many peple sat in the so called "beergarden". You'll immediately find a place and get some interesting conversations, just dont be shy and ask if they're waiting for some other people. The service is verry busy nad efficient. Unfortunately the waiter was a little stressed and spreaded the salat dressing over the table, seat and the dress of his guests. The Food is absolutely recommendable, if you don't know what to choose ask your neighbour, he might know something regional and could explane it better than the stuff.

Food was good. Personally, it bothered me that the beef came from Argentina and not from the surrounding area. Not like beef steak. Staff very friendly.

Everyone in our group was only half satisfied with the food. The Brägele were soggy (almost like porridge) and oversalted, the potato salad was very dry and not very seasoned, the schnitzel breading was also very soggy. Everything is of course a matter of taste. I haven't been there for a while, I used to like the restaurant and recommended it to others. We were disappointed during our recent visit and hope that it was an unfortunate coincidence that day.

Wir waren anlässlich eines Geburtstags zu Gast und hatten einen sehr angenehmen Abend mit wirklich sehr gutem Essen, dass ich zu dem Preis und Qualität (optisch, geschmacklich und mengenmäßig) in Freiburg (bis jetzt) noch nicht genießen konnte. Es war recht viel los, jedoch waren wirklich Bedienungen stets aufmerksam und freundlich.

We were here for dinner with family on the May Day holiday, so restaurant was very crowded. We ate inside in the rustic dining area. Very large portions of schnitzel and spaetzle. A fun atmosphere.

Very nice and attentive service. Food and drink adjusted to the normal price level of today. We enjoyed it. Outdoor seating is very nicely laid out. There is also a small playground for kids. Will definitely go there again.

It's best to make a reservation as it's always full as the former ostrich restaurant still serves very good food to this day and has done so for over 30 years. I've never been disappointed in terms of food service and price 6 stars
