Gasthaus Zur Lohmühle in Georgenthal

We ended up here because most restaurants in the region are closed on Mondays. We were already suspicious that we were all alone in the restaurant at 5:30 p.m. You can't say anything against the service. The young woman was really nice. The food wasn't that great. My tagliatelle with salmon in tomato cream sauce was very bland. Then we had schnitzel with cheese gratinated with fried potatoes. Both definitely came from the freezer. That doesn't work at all! The only one in the family who was happy was my daughter with her burger. Conclusion. You definitely don't have to stop here!

After a circular hike, we stopped at the “Zur Lohmühle” inn. The food was really sumptuous. The whole area and the restaurant gave a well-kept and clean impression. But there is still room for improvement when it comes to taste and service. Even a dog should not be allowed to run around freely in the guest room.

The food was very good, the service was also very nice and the atmosphere was great. Definitely worth a visit.

In my opinion this is an insider tip. It takes a bit of time, but the result (see pictures) is a taste highlight. The service is very courteous and personable.

We were served very nicely, the food (schnitzel, fries salad) was ok, but dry. Salad was unimaginative. Ambience really worth seeing. Ceiling lights framed with deer antlers, furniture had 'front unit' charm - motto: Romanian hunter's room.

When the weather was great, I ate outside with a view of the forest. The staff was extremely friendly, the food was delicious. There really isn't a single point of criticism!!

Rating for the Gasthaus zur Lohmühle: We had the great pleasure of stopping at the Gasthaus zur Lohmühle in the afternoon. The food came really impressively quickly - almost as if it had been waiting for us for a while. And in fact, lukewarm dishes are probably the latest trend! You can easily taste it when the food has been sitting for a long time. But don't worry, of course we let the food go back and boldly ordered the same thing again - this time freshly cooked. Thuringian Rostbrätel with fried potatoes shouldn't be a problem, we thought. The steaks actually came fresh from the pan, which was already progress. The potatoes? Well, let’s just call them “potatoes,” because they had precious little to do with fried potatoes. To top it off, we were told that the chef didn't speak German and that we were the first people to ever be dissatisfied with the food. Well, then I guess we need to adjust our expectations and learn to join the silent majority. But that will probably be difficult for us...

The food tasted good. I could imagine eating there again. Mushrooms are not chanterelles. Other than that everything was good.

I ate carbonara and drank a “pina colada”. We were visiting in a large group of eight people. The food came very quickly which was positive. The “Pina Colada” is absolutely not recommended. It was this liqueur from the discount store, with three ice cubes (they tried to spice it up with frozen forest berries -> that does NOT belong in a Pina Colada). Under no circumstances order! The spaghetti carbonara was okay/edible. Unfortunately, spaghetti is much too soft. It wasn't carbonara either (a real chef would have rolled his eyes), but probably a ready-made package from Thomy or something similar from the department store. The portion was definitely big enough to fill you up, but unfortunately not tasty. Edible - but the food could have been made MUCH better with little effort and expense. The other meals (Schitzel with fries) were also okay (children and owners give 3 out of 5 stars).

I can't explain the many positive reviews. The food was really not okay. I ordered a Cesar salad, I got iceberg lettuce, Mi 5 diced tomatoes, frozen chicken cubes and garlic sauce. On top, regular bag of grated cheese. That was really bad. The alleged bruscetta was untoasted baguette with diced tomatoes and dried herbs, garnished with grated cheese again. I've rarely eaten so badly.

The food was well below the price level. The service was friendly and quick. The whole facility is unkempt and outdated.

Unfortunately there is no food/price ratio at all. The neck steaks that my mother ordered were fried to death and carelessly prepared and the side salad was a cheeky 7 euros for something green with 1/4 tomato and a few cucumbers, without dressing. The very nice service, who also responded with understanding, was the best thing about this stay. Unfortunately not recommended, overpriced and absolutely out of proportion.

The service was quick and friendly. We wanted to order a small schnitzel with fries for my son and unfortunately we were told that it wasn't available. So I ordered a normal one and we wanted to eat it together. Now I know why there are no small portions in this case. My 5 year old son was full and I had 4.5 fries. Unfortunately, my wife's dish wasn't any more lavish. But the taste was good.

Despite the relatively busy weekend, the order was taken quickly... a thank you to the attentive host... the food is good... the prices are reasonable...

Can't really say anything negative. The food was delicious and plentiful. The service was also very friendly. The only thing that could be done would be to remove some of the weeds in the beer garden. Otherwise great and highly recommended.👍

The waitress welcomed us in a friendly manner. The service was friendly, quick and attentive. The ice cream and smoothies were very tasty and refreshing. We didn't eat anything ourselves, but the portions we saw from other guests looked appealing and generous.

Beautifully located on the Apfelstadt cycle path. Very few guests for an excursion restaurant, but many restaurateurs have this problem if the restaurant is not located directly in the center of a larger city. It's actually a shame, because the food was really freshly prepared and delicious.

A lot of things are still cordoned off, the breeding pool is overgrown with grass, the old locomotive is unfortunately no longer there, but the food tasted wonderful and the service is extremely friendly. We will be back!

We had a very good lunch in the restaurant: it was quiet and nice outside, the food was excellent, and the waitress was very friendly.

A nice restaurant at the end of the dinosaur path. A table football for the children. Lots of seating inside and outside. You have a good view of everything. The food was good, but it took a long time for us because there were technical problems. The waiter was very friendly, but the appearance was not very well maintained. Whether it was salt or napkins, I had to ask for everything.

Delicious cake and hot strong coffee. Cozy on the veranda with a view of the bike path and Thuringian Forest. Very nice.

We sat in the shade and enjoyed the quiet atmosphere in the beer garden by the stream. The service was friendly and extremely attentive. The food was a feast for the taste buds and the eyes. The homemade lemonades were also delicious.

We wanted to try the Lohmühle today. We had high hopes for ourselves because the dishes on the menu sounded interesting and weren't exactly cheap. I had the steak gratinated with “ham and cheese”. Unfortunately it was just bacon and the cheese was these slices of processed cheese. Please either change the price of this dish or, better yet, get a decent ham and cheese. It's just well-intentioned advice. The price of €21.50 is definitely too high. I was very disappointed, but would still try another dish.

First of all, I ate the best spaghetti carbonara so far here. Great restaurant, cozy outdoor area. Staff was also very friendly. My wife chose the beef roulade with dumplings. She was also very positive. Everything was very tasty and visually beautifully presented. We'll definitely come back when we're in the area.

We waited 1.5 hours for our food even though we had pre-booked a table. Reason: There are too many guests there (at Pentecost and on German Mill Day). But none of the tables were occupied. The food was nothing special. The prices were quite high for that. The only positive thing was the friendly service.

We can't rate the menu, we were only there for coffee and cake. The location is really nice, the service is friendly and attentive. What should really be avoided: smoking in the service and kitchen a few meters away from the guests. You just don't do that, sorry. And if desserts have different preparation times, please coordinate them so that everyone can eat together. Otherwise someone sits there and watches the others eat.

You can eat well here and have a large selection. The starter (aubergine mayonnaise) and the curd dumpling dessert were particularly tasty and special. Gladly again!

Hatten hier für den 2.Weihnachtsfeiertag kurzfristig noch für 9 Personen Plätze erhalten. 4 x Ente mit Thüringer Klößen und Rotkraut, 3 x Pommes & Schnitzel Champignonsoße mit Pilzen und Beilagensalat, 1 x Rehgulasch mit Thüringer Klößen und 1 x Kartoffeln mit Forelle Alles war gut zubereitet , schmackhaft und dem Preis angemessen!

Essen hat sehr gut geschmeckt, freundliche und flotte Bedienung. Wir kommen gerne wieder vorbei!

Sehr tolles Ambiente. Das Personal ist sehr nett. Auf der Karte ist für jeden etwas zu finden! Und zum guten Schluss gab es leckeres Eis und einem Espresso! Wenn wir wieder in der Nähe sind, kommen wir gerne wieder.

Wir haben spontan, am letzten Sonntag während einer Radtour, eine kurze Rast eingelegt und sind auf einen Espresso und ein Eis eingekehrt. Wir hatten nur etwas Kleingeld mit und fragten ob Kartenzahlung möglich ist. Der Chef sagte uns, dass Kartenzahlung erst ab 25 EUR möglich ist. Der Chef hat uns trotz allem all unsere Wünsche, für unser kleines Budget erfüllt. Habe selten eine so nette, freundliche und großzügige Bedienung (der Chef höchstpersönlich) erlebt. Vielen Dank nochmal 👍👍👍👍

Das Essen war gut gewesen Es gab anfänglich Verwechslungen bei essens Empfänger (also falsches Essen geliefert Hatte eine sogenannte Forelle Rumänischer art kannte Ich so noch nicht Aber es hat mir persönlich sehr gut geschmeckt meine Forelle

Die Speisekarte versprach so viel und bei den Preisen erwartet man auch gutes Essen. Leider wurden wir sehr enttäuscht. Mein Schweinenacken/Schweinekamm war zu dick und zäh. Die Pommes waren lauwarm und das Gemüse kalt. Die Haxe meines Mannes war tlw. zu trocken, die Kartoffeln ebenfalls nur lauwarm. Schade um das Geld.

Die Lasagne hat gut geschmeckt, aber die Portion war eher eine Kinderportion, allerdings für 14,50€. Zwei kleine Stücke Lasagne ohne Soße, aber mit frischem Basilikum angerichtet. Ich bin hungrig von Dannen gezogen. Ich kenne Lasagne anders und die macht mich üblicherweise auch satt.

Fünf Sterne sind hier nicht genug. Wer sich entscheidet hier zu speisen, der findet als erstes dieses wunderschöne geschichtsträchtige Haus in einer schönen Gegend. Auf der Terrasse hat man einen guten Blick auf die kleinen Teiche und sitzt eigentlich genau an der Apfelstädt. Hier wird man freundlich empfangen und bedient. Zur Mittagszeit ist das Restaurant gut besucht, trotzdem wird sich bemüht, dass man sehr schnell seine Getränke erhält. Auf der Speisekarte findet man verschiedene Gerichte und auch einige vegetarische Speisen. Es gibt auch eine kleine Auswahl an Speisen für Kinder. Hier wurde sich wegen einer Allergie sehr viel Mühe gegeben, damit kein Risiko besteht und so viel Aufwand habe ich bis jetzt noch nirgends erlebt. Man merkt deutlich, dass man hier als Gast ernst genommen wird und sich bemüht wird die Bedürfnisse zu erfüllen. Das Gasthaus zur Lohmühle ist auf jeden Fall zu empfehlen. Wir werden bestimmt wieder kommen

Spontan einen Tisch bekommen. Nur eine halbe Stunde aufs Essen gewartet und es wurde immer nachgefragt, ob alles passt. Essen war außerordentlich lecker. Wir hatten einmal das Schnitzel, die Hähnchenbrust und eine Burger. Wir kommen gern wieder!

Nach Wiedereröffnung durch rumänische Betreiber erstmals von uns getestet. Rumänische, deutsche, italienische Gerichte, Fisch, Extras für Kinder. Sehr leckeres Essen, flotter Service bei gut besuchtem Restaurant.

Essen und Trinken ist sehr schön

Wir waren spontan zu Zwölft dort. Wir konnten zügig bestellen und es hat gar nicht lange gedauert, bis das Essen kam. Es hat wirklich gut geschmeckt, wir kommen eigentlich aus einer Metropolregion und waren echt begeistert, wie gut das Essen war, dafür dass es überhaupt nicht teuer ist. Es war auch ansprechend angerichtet, wir waren ziemlich begeistert. Bei uns zuhause hätte man für so gutes Essen sicher mindestens 30% mehr gezahlt. Falls wir Mal wieder in die Region kommen, werden wir sicher wieder herkommen, da waren wir uns alle einig.

Leider nicht mehr das, was es einmal war. Das fängt bei der Getränkebestellung an: 2 kleine wasser mit Sprudel und 1 kleines Kiba haben wir bestellt- bekommen haben wir 2 Leitungswasser und 1 großes Kiba. Meine Frau bekam ihr essen leider erst, als mein Sohn und ich bereits fertig mit unseren Gerichten waren..Insgesamt war der Kontakt leider doch eher unangenehm - aber leider hällt nunmal nichts ewig.
