Our motorcycle club (7 people, 7 mopeds) visited for the fourth time in September 2023. What happened to us there was a complete disgrace. This hotel and restaurant have become an outrage. Out of 5 stars... 8 removed. Not recommended!!!!!!!!!

We booked a room for 105 euros for three people with breakfast. We arrived, and the manager said Booking.com had made a mistake and the room was priced at 165 euros, forcing us to pay extra. I wouldn't have done that, but we'd already paid 105 euros. When we arrived, he simply walked past us; we stopped him, and then he gave us the keys. He was completely unfriendly and angry. He said the extra charge was 30 euros for the room and 35 euros for breakfast, and we couldn't leave without breakfast. We arrived quite late and had a flat tire beforehand, so we didn't have the energy to argue. I've sent a description of the situation to Booking.com several times, but there hasn't been a response for a couple of days. This man is a disgrace to the entire German business community. We've been to hundreds of hotels, but we've never encountered such treatment. Oh, and the beer garden wasn't open; it was only for the manager's friends. Hotel owner – take action! This is not how business is done anywhere in the world.

Absolutely not up-to-date, no Wi-Fi in the room, no TV, used bedsheets, and the rooms look like they're from the 80s... Free cancellation stated, but upon cancellation, the full price was charged!!! The host was very rude!!! I advise everyone against staying there...

What is there to rate? Okay, unfortunately, you have to give it one point. I'll give it one point because, after three nights, there were fresh towels and the bed was made twice. That's about it. What was promised, but didn't exist: a restaurant, beer garden (both closed), sauna, Wi-Fi, or a TV in the room. Incidentally, both haven't been available for a few days, as the other reviews show. Instead, a moldy shower with a shower curtain and an average breakfast with no rolls, but warmed bread. The margarine was also five weeks out of date, as I discovered on the second day. The room (single room no. 11) was in the style of the 70s, in need of renovations and with a rusty radiator. The cold water tap only produces hot water, and vice versa. It's actually astonishing what a hotel can advertise but simply can't deliver. Such behavior is also called fraudulent deception. I tried to cancel the booking with the owner on the day of arrival. However, he only agreed to stay if he was paid for 1.5 nights after staying one. That's pretty brazen, and I expect that with this kind of treatment of guests and the misrepresentation of facts, things will end quickly. I wouldn't stay there again even if it were free.

Well, what else can I say? Most of it has already been well summarized and pretty much to the point in the previous comments. My father and I were happy guests here for 12 years. Christmas and Easter were a must for us at the Harburg, and we always enjoyed making the trip from Göttingen. We also had the "pleasure" of the new circumstances at Easter and are still completely stunned and sad that it should end like this. It's a real shame. We're trying to put this experience aside and keep the Harburg in our good memories, fondly remembering the culinary highlights and the warm atmosphere. All the best to all our former employees.

Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio is now inadequate for traditional village cuisine. The venison goulash only served 5 or 6 pieces of meat, and even the side dishes weren't filling. For that, about €25 is a bit too much. The burger is also overpriced at around €14.90 (previously €8.50); for that price, I expect more than a frozen patty and ready-made buns from the supermarket (still good taste, though). Before the Harburg was sold, the prices were reasonable; the enormous increase cannot be justified by current inflation. I was satisfied with the service and the food on my last visit in December. However, I don't want to know what will happen with the current radical staff changes. The current development is a real shame. After all, people have always enjoyed going to the Harburg. The website also needs an update. The review is from November 2022. Now, in May 2023, it seems to be a complete disaster.

The food tastes very good; it's always fresh and appetizing. The service is very friendly. There's not much to say about the ambiance; it's a fast-food place. You can pick up your food, maybe sit down briefly and eat, but that's about it.
