For the pearl barley risotto, I would recommend switching to a rice risotto.

Rustically furnished inn, very centrally located. We were the only guests one afternoon. The menu was very appealing and the service was very attentive. Our spiced meat starter was good, so we were looking forward to the main course. Unfortunately we were partly disappointed. The roulade in particular had a strange, very gray color. The taste was also not satisfactory. The boiled beef was also not worth the hefty price quoted. Steak au four and Hamburg-style schnitzel were okay. Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio leaves something to be desired.

Wir waren mit einer großen Reisegruppe im Restaurant, wurden sehr schnell mit Getränken versorgt und ausgesprochen schnell und freundlich bedient! Der Salat war knackig, der Hauptgang mit Fleisch und Kartoffeln schmackhaft. Positiv überrascht hat uns der Nachtisch! Hübsch angerichtet war das ein Highlight! Eine durchaus bürgerliche Küche. Die Bedienung war überaus flott und immer freundlich!

Even though we didn't have a reservation, we got a table without waiting. Very fast service, waiters attentive and friendly, fun to work with. Food was perfect. The beef roulade is tender, the dumplings have a perfect consistency and the red cabbage tastes great.

A few days ago we had as larger group from Weimar We reserved a large table in a separate room for a Christmas dinner at the White Swan. We mostly ordered various dishes à la carte with goose, dumplings and sauce. Even though the restaurant was full, everything was served hot and at the same time with the best friendly service. It was the best goose in a long time; Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside and perfect classic side dishes. I also eat snacks there regularly and am always very satisfied. It's a pleasure to eat at the white swan - just a great team that works there.

Ich war am 11.12.24 mit meiner Frau im Weißen Schwan. Meine Frau hat Nudeln mit Pesto gegessen und war aufgrund der lieblosen Zubereitung (Nudeln "schwammen" im Pesto) nicht zufrieden. Ich hatte mich auf einen Krusten-Schweinebraten gefreut und wurde auch enttäuscht. Die beiden Knödel haben gut geschmeckt, ebenso das Sauerkraut und die Soße. Leider war an der dünn geschnittenen Schweinebratenscheibe über ein Drittel Fett und Kruste. Das hätte ggf. für ein Kind gereicht. Das Ambiente und die Stimmung waren gut, die Getränke auch. ADAC-Auszeichnung an der Tür...?

Urige Wirtschaft mit großem Platzangebot über mehrere Etagen. Sehr freundlicher und flotter Service. Große Auswahl an Speisen und Getränken. Das Essen (Schweinekrustenbraten mit Specksauerkraut und Thüringer Klöße sowie Zander auf der Haut gebraten mit Gemüse und Zitronenrisotto) war super lecker. Ein gutes Bier bzw. ein guter Wein dazu rundeten ein köstliches Abendessen ab. Das Preisniveau ist angemessen. 100 % Weiterempfehlung.

Creepy, just spooky!!!! We enjoy going to Weimar regularly and also go to the onion market every year. Yesterday we wanted to listen to the music with our friends, drink a coffee and eat something. We were greeted by a bad German speaking ES??? rudely pointed out that we shouldn't have been given a menu at all, there is no coffee (but it is on the menu and it was 2.30 p.m.!!) and if at all we could go in and eat something there after waiting for an hour. It wasn't just us, many people were sent away, although everyone was happy to have found somewhere to sit in the hustle and bustle. Oldest hotel in Weimar with the worst service. They'll never see us again.

On Tuesday August 20th we were there for dinner. The order was taken by Vietnamese trainees who still had some language difficulties, which didn't bother us. We wanted to help with language when the restaurant manager came rushing towards us and arrogantly and didactically said that it was his business. The returned and newly used Paulaner Hell tasted stale and stale, the Hamburger Schnitzel that was brought was like a burnt, breaded, black board. Goethe would have complained too! Noticeably, you don't get a bill there and the amount is only displayed on the screen.

The food also came incredibly quickly, the explanation is obvious. After less than 45 minutes we arrived at the bill. This can only be explained by a planned tourist trap. At home, quickly throw all of your outerwear into the wash. Everything smelled strongly of food.

Am Dienstag den 20.08. waren wir dort zu Abendessen. Die Bestellung wurde von vietnamesischen Azubis aufgenommen, die noch einige Sprachschwierigkeit hatten, was uns uns nicht weiter stört. Wir wollten sprachlich helfen, als der Restaurantleiter auf uns zugeschossen kam und anmaßend und belehrend meinte, das sei seine Angelegenheit. Das zurückgebende und neu gebrachte Paulaner Hell schmeckte dann angestanden und schal, das gebrachte Hamburger Schnitzel war wie ein angebranntes panisches schwarzes Holzbrett. Goethe hätte sich auch beschwert! Auffallend bekommt man dort keine Rechnung und wird der Betrag von einem Bildschirm angezeigt.

However, my last visit to the "White Swan" left me so confused that I don't even know what to say. I lived near Weimar for a long time and wanted to bring my husband and child closer to my old home. In my opinion, this also included a visit to the historic Schwan. There was also a free space outside, which we were very happy about because of the warm weather. After we weren't served and ignored for 30 minutes, we asked briefly inside. To the first question, "What do you want?", we replied that we would like to have dinner, only to be told that there was no longer any service outside, even though the places outside were all full of guests. Apparently it had rained heavily beforehand, but what we didn't know was that when we got there after a long journey it was dry. Which would have been okay. But instead of offering us a place inside or putting us off, we were given the flippant explanation that we were "sitting nicely (!) under a dry umbrella" and that his "employees would get wet for it". Then the gentleman turned around and ignored us. I have never experienced anything like this in any restaurant. Especially since we weren't unfriendly, annoying or otherwise intrusive. I know that sometimes people in service are in a bad mood, but under no circumstances should they take it out on the guest. Hospitality can be done differently - such as in the "Schwarzer Bären", where we stopped off afterwards and were served in a very friendly manner. I will no longer recommend the Swan when traveling to Weimar in the future.

Nice historic restaurant. Perfect for a great summer evening sitting outside. However, at the beginning the Asian waitress didn't feel compelled to turn around to answer my request for a free table. She stood with her arms crossed, her back to me, and just pointed at a table with the words “there.” Very strange and unfortunate. The waitress, a tall young gentleman, brought us drinks and food. He was very friendly and polite, which is then appropriate. The food was delicious and tasted wonderful.

It may have been a special case, but good gastronomy is different: initially there were six of us and we sat down at two square tables with 6 chairs. First impression: 5 stars. Service, menu, everything good. Then the 2 other members of our tour group of 8 followed. We had the nerve to add a third table. The outdoor area was not half occupied and we did not take up any additional space. What happened next: underground! This can't be allowed! Why? Boss forbade it! Why? Doesn't matter! And so forth. Since the six of us had already ordered, we reluctantly ate there but definitely won't be coming back unless the supposedly absent boss gives a plausible explanation for this behavior.

Wir sind aufgrund von Terminverschiebungen erst gegen 14.30 zum Mittagessen gekommen. Und das war im "Weißen Schwan" ohne Probleme möglich, schon mal der erste große Pluspunkt. Aber fangen wir an: Der Empfang war freundlich und zuvorkommend, man fühlte sich gleich wohl. Das Restaurant urig und gemütlich, eigentlich, wie man es von so einem Traditionshaus erwartet. Deftige, bodenständige Thüringer Gerichte. Eine relativ kleine Speisenkarte, was kein Makel ist, sondern eher für die Güte und Frische der angebotenen Gerichte spricht. Und wir wurden in dieser Beziehung nicht enttäuscht. Das Essen kam schnell, die Portionen waren sehr reichlich und liebevoll angerichtet. Sehr lecker und appetitlich und eindeutig frisch zubereitet. Uns hat es sehr gut geschmeckt. Also auch in dieser Beziehung ein großer Pluspunkt. Der Service war nett, sehr freundlich, sehr flink, aufmerksam (ohne aufdringlich zu sein). Der nächste Pluspunkt. Und dann waren wir über die doch, ausgehend von der Menge und der Güte des Essens, sehr moderaten und durchaus angemessenen Preise überrascht (da haben wir in Weimar leider woanders schon schlechter und teurer gegessen). Das Fazit; Wir waren mit allem und in jeder Beziehung mehr als zufrieden, haben uns gut aufgenommen gefühlt und ausgezeichnet gegessen. Sicherlich nicht unser letzter Besuch im "Weißen Schwan". Wir wünschen dem Team des "Weißen Schwan" auch weiterhin alles Gute!

The oldest inn in Weimar has a great location, right in the pretty old town. We chose a table in the attractive outdoor area. The service was super friendly and the food tasted good. The aperitif Lillet Wild Berry and the Aperol Spritz were very well prepared. What more could you want?😀 You can highly recommend this location. A reservation is definitely advisable. There is a parking garage nearby. Cashless payment is possible.

The roulade, dumplings and red cabbage weren't even lukewarm, I had already started eating and so asked to heat the plate properly again in the microwave. They wanted to bring me new food, I specifically asked for the plate I had started to be heated up. I generally don't throw food away. When paying I raised the issue again, no apology, no offer to compensate. One said they had put my food in the microwave for an extra five minutes, the other said they didn't have a microwave at all. After I said that they probably just didn't understand me, I was called racist and told not to come anymore. God knows I'm anything but racist and I find it impossible how guests are treated. We came in specifically to pay so that there wouldn't be such a fuss when the beer garden was full. By the way, another guest came over and said both of their meals were also cold. They ate it because they didn't have time. When I read the reviews, the temperature of the food often seems to be a problem. Maybe you could actually take care of it instead of insulting customers.
