Ein sehr schönes rustikales Gasthaus. Ich wurde sehr nett begrüßt,die Zimmer sind sehr schön,sehr sauber,das Frühstück liebevoll zubereitet und das Essen mega. Auch das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist top! Wenn ich wieder in Saalfeld bin,komme ich wieder hier her.

Haben am Freitag den 17.4 am Abend eine Gaststätten aufgesucht und haben uns für diese entschieden. Die gute atmosphäre wirkte mehr wie eine gute Kneipe, die sehr nett eingerichtet war. Die Kellnerin gab uns einen Tisch, wo auch schon zwei nette Männer saßen, da alles belegt bzw reserviert war. Uns störten die Herren nicht, warum auch. Wir wurden schnell bedient mit Getränken und sie gab noch eine gute Empfehlung an spargel Essen. Wartezeit war okay, denn es soll frisch und lecker sein, so war es auch. Wir würden diese lokation wieder gern besuchen, wenn wir in der Nähe sind. Preise sind super und die Portion schön großzügig. Dankeschön an das Team in der Küche. Muss man mal gesagt haben. Wenn ein Posten negativ ist, kann der andere Bereich noch so gut sein, ein zweiten Besuch ist dann selten. ABER hier gibst nichts zumeckern. Weiterso in allen Bereichen. Zimmer können wir nichts zu sagen, da wir ein anderes hotel ausgesucht haben, weit vorher.

Super geiles frisches Essen .Macht weiter so .

Wir waren spontan mit 5 Leuten zum Mittagessen dort. Sehr netter Service, Essen war zügig auf dem Tisch. Qualitätsmässig war das Essen sehr hochwertig, das Fleisch Butterbrot, die Saucen gut abgeschmeckt. "Futtern wie bei Muttern". Preis-Leistungsverhältnis Top.

Gutes, preiswertes Essen. Sehr freundliches Personal. Urig gemütlich. Wer es noch nicht kennt, über Öffnungszeiten informieren. Vorreservierung sinnvoll.

So stelle ich mir ein schönes Wirtshaus in einer Kleinstadt im Thüringen vor. Wir waren Mittagessen, spezielle Karte auch am Wochenende. Schnitzel mit Kartoffelbrei und Blumenkohl für knapp 15€ - unschlagbar und Mega lecker. Deftiges Essen, gutes Bier - so soll es sein. DANKE!!

Eine Gaststätte zum wohlfühlen und genießen. Das Essen ist einfach nur spitze 😋, riesige Portionen zu guten Preisen. Die Bedienung sehr freundlich und aufmerksam . Kann man nur empfehlen.

Schöne urige Kneipe. Liegt zwar etwas versteckt für Nichtsaalfelder, aber das Essen ist super. Bedienung nett und flott. Vorbestellen sollte man aber schon. Ist immer gut besucht.

Wir waren zwei Tage in der Pension Pappenheimer wir möchten uns auf diesem Wege recht herzlich für die freundliche gastfreundlich bedanken wir haben uns richtig wohl gefühlt die Unterkunft war prima das Mittag abendbrot und Frühstück war gut wir hatten alles und wir wurden immer gefragt ob noch was fehlt. Ich war viele Jahre leider nicht hier. Aber ist so schön daß es etwas gibt was an traditionellem festhält. Hoffentlich gibt es irgendwann einen Nachfolger der dieses Haus genauso weiterführt. Ich bzw. wir sind gern hier und werden wiederkommen. Danke

"Girls' Night Out" at Pappenheimer... A quaint restaurant in the heart of Saalfeld, excellent service, delicious food, reasonable prices, and the music (radio) was just what we were looking for. We felt completely at home, and would gladly return :)

It's a shame, but it should be said, applies to this, to an employee: July 30, 2025, in the morning, it's raining, the Pappenheimer is empty except for one customer at the bar. Good morning, do you have breakfast? The lady behind the bar looks at me blankly, no greeting, nothing, corner of her mouth down: "Scrambled eggs, fried eggs." Okay, do you also have rolls or sausage? Unchanged: "Scrambled eggs, fried eggs." Okay, where can we sit? Not a word, just a vague gesture toward the front tables. Which one should we take? Answer: "They're all the same." I venture an objection: There's a table for three, a table for four, and even larger ones.....Reply with a shake of the head and, turning around/walking away, "Just take any one." We left. All the other cafes were packed...why?

If you are looking for something comfortable and reasonably priced in Saalfeld, you have come to the right place. Right next to the market, where you'd look in vain for a similar location, you'll find the "Pappenheimer" on a side street. The staff are really friendly and try to find a suitable spot based on the number of people. Luckily, we had a reservation, as it can get really busy at lunchtime. The menu is concise, but there's something delicious for everyone. From fries with nuggets for the kids to schnitzel with boiled potatoes to trout, you can enjoy Thuringian cuisine here. Everything on the menu is highly recommended. The Sauerbraten with dumplings, my personal favorite, came with delicious crispy breadcrumbs in the center, just like in grandma's day. Drinks arrived really quickly after ordering, as did the food, which, of course, arrived at the table immediately after the preparation time. The decor looks very well-maintained and is filled with great attention to detail and memories from bygone eras. The famous "Schiffsrinne" counter was unfortunately out of service, but you can find more information on the website. The restrooms are clean and don't smell. There's also an upper floor where there's enough space for a smaller party. We didn't need the rooms, so we can't comment on them, but we've only heard good things. So, anyone looking for something similar will be in good hands here; we highly recommend it.

The Pappenheimer is located not far from the parking lot on a side street. The cozy interior immediately makes you feel at home. Visitors to this restaurant can expect very friendly staff and, above all, delicious food, including a large appetizer. However, you should plan your visit and pre-order, as the Pappenheimer is apparently very popular. Rabbit liver with salad.

Delicious Thuringian dishes. I went there for Sunday lunch on my sister's recommendation. Everything was perfect, friendly service, and delicious food. It would be a shame if the restaurant were to close.

Unfortunately, the opening hours online did not match those on site. It is also unclear why the store is closed from 2 p.m.

I had the pleasure of staying overnight here and enjoying an asparagus menu. What can I say, everything was simply perfect! I'd love to come back and am already looking forward to breakfast tomorrow.

Our rating only applies to the restaurant as we did not stay overnight. We stopped by here spontaneously for lunch and were seated without making a reservation. The service was very friendly, the food was very good and the prices were okay. We'd love to come back when we're in Saalfeld again.

Leider zwei mürrische, schlechtgelaunte Bedienungen! Zum Sauerbraten (der lecker war) gab es nur trockene böhmische Knödel und einen Salat. Das extra Rotkraut (ca.2 Esslöffel) wurde mit 4,50€ extra berechnet. Wir wurden nicht beraten und aufs bezahlen haben wir ewig gewartet. Hab schon besseres erlebt. Die sehen mich nicht wieder!

Great staff, absolutely friendly and in a very good mood at work. Food was very tasty and really big portions. You feel in good hands and the prices are very fair for the current status of April 2025.

We only ate here, so the review only refers to the inn. A great, rustic inn in a central location with classic East German cuisine. The menu is small and clear, the food is without a lot of fancy, but all the more delicious. The staff was friendly and authentic to the atmosphere. We'd love to come back when we're in the area again.

Top hospitality, always recommended 👌

We came across this quaint inn by chance and were extremely lucky to find room for four people. Reservation is a must. The food is traditional, very good and plentiful. We were completely at peace. The only drawback is if you are no longer able to walk so well. The toilets are on the upper floor. Parking is three minutes away. This inn is highly recommended.

We also ate here for the first time today and were thrilled with the leg of lamb and the dumplings, which I couldn't do better. In addition, the service was always friendly despite the many guests. We will definitely recommend it to others and of course we will come again ourselves.

Very good Thuringian cuisine and service-oriented employees

A couple of years after my original review, i have to change it. This was, in fact, our go to place in Saalfeld for a while, whenever we made the hour long trip. Unfortunately, last night was our last time eating here. The food is good, but nothing you can't get 100 other places - we went for the friendly service and the atmosphere. Without that there is no point. I made a reservation almost two weeks before hand for a particular table (it's tucked away in a nook on the stairs, it is quieter and special), it was for a birthday dinner... which is why i called extra early and made sure to secure this particular table. When we arrived - at 6 when they open - they said they were giving away that table to a party of 3, and since we were 2 they moved us to a smaller table. Actually, one very loud and cramped next to the coat rack, so we were constantly bumped by people clamoring in and out of their jackets. When i reminded them I'd specially reserved the other table, they were very rude. It was astonishing. It seems that the extra few dollars they earned giving away that table to seat one more person, regardless of a standing reservation, was worth losing customers. To be honest, a very disappointing experience. Without the friendly service and groovy atmosphere this place loses its spark, and has lost some customers. There are many other delicious and friendlier places to choose from in Saalfeld. This was my original review: This place was great! Lovely interior and atmosphere, the people working there were so friendly and helpful!! We brought a guest from the US and it was a great choice. We recently moved to the area and this will definitely be our "go-to" place in Saalfeld! Thanks to everyone working there for wonderful experience!

We had a Christmas party at your place and I was there with a baby in tow. When I asked, I was immediately given the option to change diapers and breastfeed and the service was also super friendly. Food was also great! Thanks for the hospitality!

It was my first time eating there and I loved it. I haven't eaten something so delicious in a long time. The restaurant is highly recommended and in my opinion the prices are even too cheap. The service was consistently friendly and attentive. I'd love to come back next time I'm in Saalfeld. I can't say anything about the rooms, I was only in the restaurant.

We were guests in this familiar and informal house from December 20th, 2024 to December 22nd, 2024 and felt very comfortable from the first moment. The rooms (we had the "West" room) are clean, decently sized and comfortably furnished. An extra sofa also makes staying during the day comfortable. The restaurant is still run by a couple of innkeepers of a rare caliber. The menu doesn't need to be described as overloaded and no matter what you choose, everything is plentiful and very tasty - praise to the kitchen! The breakfast table was deliciously set and there were finally products (the sausage not from industrial packaging) from regional producers, also rare!!! In terms of price, you are ultimately treated very fairly.👍 Many thanks to the host couple and see you next year!!!

We spent a few nights at the Pappenheimer. Rooms have everything you need. It's clean and cozy. The breakfast was very good with everything your heart desires. It is very cozy in the restaurant. A small menu with good dishes invites you to linger. The food is very tasty and the staff is always very friendly. We would love to come back.

Sehr schönes und uhriges Gasthaus das Essen war sehr lecker das Personal super freundlich. Was ich auch super fand es gab nur eine kleine Speisekarte mit ca 10 Gerichten aber das reicht.

Essen war wirklich top , leider war die Bedienung anscheinend schlecht gelaunt.

Ich war zum Mittagessen da und es ist eine sehr schöne Gaststube sehr originelle Ausstattung. Ein bißchen verwinkelt doch das macht es gerade sympathisch. Leider könnte man in der Küche einiges besser machen,nur eine Sache (Schnitzel vorbraten und dann noch mal in Butter aufwärmen bzw braten geht garnicht)

Das Essen ist einfach nur Spitze,egal was man isst. Kann man nur empfehlen.

Wir waren mit den Enkeln dort essen. Ich kann nur sagen das Personal so freundlich und nett. Wir waren begeistert da es keine Kindergerichte gab wurde uns ein Essen geteilt für 2 Kinder. Wir können nur sagen es war ein gelungener Besuch. Die Einrichtung urig und gemütlich das Essen lecker und vom Preis Leistungsverhältnis nicht zu toppen, gern wieder. Zimmer können wir leider nicht beurteilen.
