We discovered this traditional restaurant while passing through. The menu may be small, but it offers a very good selection of traditional dishes, all of which were incredibly delicious. The service was consistently friendly and courteous. Best wishes from the Lower Rhine

We had cheese spaetzle and liver, both of which were delicious. As a small appetizer, we had a bread platter, which was also excellent.

Unfortunately, the schnitzel was completely stringy, like a shoe sole. The cutlery wasn't really clean. The fried potatoes tasted of nothing. Onions or salt would have been good. The sauce tasted like ready-made sauce. The waiter wanted to take the plate away while we were eating, somehow lacking in tact. Prices - okay for the quality; everything was very bland. The bread was amazing, and the salami was also quite good.

A little old, but still a nice inn. A home-style meal, yet creative, with the best ingredients in mind, without the need for artificial help. Almost like before, without any international frills. To fill you up and delight your palate. It's nice that it still exists, keep it up, we'll definitely come back.

I can really recommend the inn! This was our second time there and both times the food was excellent and perfectly cooked, especially the cordon bleu. The cream sauce that I added was also very tasty and tasted as if it was homemade - a real plus! The waitresses are extremely attentive and courteous, which makes the stay even more pleasant. The ambience is okay, with two different sides: a more rustic one and a more modern one. Personally, I would have liked it to have been designed to be more harmonious, but overall it fits well. All in all, for me the inn is a place that I would visit again and again because the food is just right!

I have rarely eaten such a good Cordonbleu and the Flädlesuppe was also fantastic. With boiled broth and soft, homemade flatbreads. Highly recommended, even if the landlord looks grim, he is still nice and can smile too!

We were passing through Freiburg, Rulantica and Europapark Rust and ate outside every evening. This time we found a table in the “Zum Schützen” restaurant. Terrific. We ordered a pancake soup as a starter. Freshly prepared and homemade. From the house we were given a bread basket with spread. Very good. All 4 of us ended up with a schnitzel variation. All dishes were freshly prepared. Rarely eaten so good and tasty. A greeting to the kitchen. The service was extremely friendly and very personable. Neither of us could have dessert. The main courses were too opulent for that. Two thumbs up and a clear recommendation 👍👍👌

We ate here on our vacation! The service staff was super friendly and accommodating. I had a lamb's lettuce and the roasted liver. Both were more than tasty! According to the owner of the appartment we stayed in, a real German restaurant. This was true: authentic German food (different kinds of Schnitzel, cordon bleu and seasonal dishes), friendly staff who even spoke English, a lively atmosphere, and a cosy setting. The food was delicious, and the plates were filled. We hope to visit again!

We stayed in the family room on the top floor one night before Europapark. Very clean, close to the center by bus, very good restaurant, very welcoming, quite quiet, free parking, pillow too high, minimal decoration, good single beds but touching, a little small, only a sink in the room, clean bathroom simple shared with 2 other rooms so not very practical.

We were lucky and got a table without a reservation. Cozy bourgeois interior with appropriate lighting. Highly recommended, the steak was served perfectly 👍🏻☺️

A nice country inn with very friendly staff.

The food is very good, therefore recommended. The interior lighting is like that of a mortuary, therefore rather uncomfortable. We waited 1 hour for our food, which wouldn't have been so bad if we had been told about it in advance. When the question was asked when paying whether everything had been okay, they first questioned my comment about the waiting time by checking to see when we had ordered. Afterwards it was dismissed on the grounds that there were many guests there.

Food was great; Both the schnitzel and the steak tasted great; the service was quick and courteous; There was also a small greeting from the kitchen immediately after placing the order. We found this to be very thoughtful as this is no longer so common these days. The atmosphere is rustic but not "run down". We'll be back.

Good middle-class restaurant. The front room is nice and cozy with wooden furniture. I find it a bit too bare and loud in the back room when it's full and every table is talking. The schnitzel and salad were very tasty. The sauce was perfect too. Good standard 👍🏻

On Friday we were able to spontaneously order a table for 14 people for Saturday evening. But the “store” was full. Nevertheless, we were warmly welcomed and a long table was set up for us. Great!! The game dish was an absolute highlight – cooked to perfection and an experience in terms of taste. The service also leaves nothing to be desired: attentive, professional and at the same time pleasantly reserved. Hospitality is lived here and there is a noticeable emphasis on offering every guest an all-round successful experience. The Gasthaus Schützen is a place where you can enjoy at the highest level - from the cuisine to the wine selection to the hospitality. Five stars are more than deserved here.

We spontaneously reserved a table for four people. A small and very tasty greeting from the kitchen, the salad was also really tasty. The main courses were also plentiful and really so delicious. The service was super friendly and very attentive. Actually no dessert would have been suitable but we still had an ice cream sundae. Rooms were ok. The staff was very friendly. The food was highly recommended and the portions were large.

There were probably 90 of us who came to eat after a funeral at 2 p.m. 2 waitresses for so many people was a bit short, so you had to wait for the drink, unfortunately. Food was then served on platters so everyone could take it! Food itself is fresh and delicious.

As guests, we were able to end the day with dinner at the Schützen Inn. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating (please note that the seating is on the street). The interior is in the style of a guest house and is definitely appealing. Coherent! As an appetizer we received various cream/lard with bread from the house (plus points for the gesture). We ordered the cheese knöpfle and blackcurrant juice spritzers. After an animal got lost in the glass while putting the glass down, the glass was replaced immediately. Super Service. We ordered the cheese buttons. The food came to the table quickly. Waiting time of a maximum of 30 minutes (house was still empty at that time). The request as to whether it was tasty also came from the service. We felt very taken care of and well looked after. The food itself was perfectly prepared. Fresh and definitely homemade. We definitely recommend!

We are delighted with our visit to this typical restaurant. The meal is good and simply well done. It’s fresh and seasonal. The asparagus soup is excellent! The attention for our daughter at the end of the meal with a lollipop is pleasant and for the parents a very pleasant appetizer too. The recessions and the initial, simple, middle-class furnishing style put us off a bit. A day later, after a disappointing meal, we decided to try it and were completely pleasantly surprised. I have to admit, I was very surprised and happy to have found a very good restaurant again! There were five of us plus a small child and we chose a table outside. It's very sober and unadorned, but you sit comfortably and it's all about the food. And that’s convincing! We had different meat dishes (I personally had the sour liver) and we were served very, very friendly and attentively. The young lady in service was there to learn the ropes, but you immediately noticed that friendliness and perfect service are important to the restaurant management. And that's exactly what the young lady did. She accommodated special requests and all the dishes were beautifully prepared and simply delicious! Great salad dressing by the way! All in all, we would like to come back and eat our way through the menu.

An address that stands out, well-filled plates (too many) waitresses who make a great effort to speak in the foreign language and are very smiling. too bad there is no French or other language translation (long live Google translate)

Had dinner here with the family before the overnight stay towards the ski area. Typical German guesthouse in terms of decoration and that always has its charms. The house gave us a delicious bread board with spreads. One of the spreads was boar fat. This was really delicious. As main courses the cordon blue turkey, pepper steak and for the children a plate of fries with chicken nuggets. All dishes were certainly tasty and more than sufficient. The desserts were also popular: creme brulee, chocolate mousse and panna cotta.

The food is solid, as are the portions and the service. The portions aren't super big (which isn't a complaint, it's just mentioned in the other reviews, which isn't the case). All in all, you have to say the food tastes good, although the price is a bit too expensive (15 percent cheaper in comparison, it would also do the trick). As mentioned, it's good food with good service and ok price. Hence 4 stars. It's worth a visit, so we recommend taking a look for yourself.
