Gasthaus Schießstätte in Tegernsee

A lucky find while on holiday, but totally worth it. From the service to the food, everything was perfect. We were allowed to bring our dog (Maltipoo) and he was well looked after too. It certainly won't be our last visit if we're ever in the area again.

Unfortunately, you can only give 5 stars – it deserves so much more! Yesterday we dined at the Gasthaus Schießstätte, and I had by far the best schnitzel I've had in ages. The restaurant is incredibly cozy, the staff exceptionally friendly, and the food is simply amazing! A huge plus for us as dog owners: very dog-friendly!

What a wonderful evening! We actually stumbled in here quite by chance and we don't regret a thing! The owner and her husband, who took over the place in June 2025, personally welcomed us and immediately made us feel at home. The cuisine is classic German fare of the highest quality. You can simply tell that the food is cooked with heart. We had the beef goulash, salad, and horseradish schnitzel…it simply made us happy.

The horseradish schnitzel was the best schnitzel I've had in ages—incredibly tender, perfectly cooked, and a truly generous portion. The pancake soup was also excellent, exactly what you'd expect in a traditional inn. The ambiance is rustic, cozy, and authentic; you immediately feel at home. The service was incredibly friendly, attentive, and simply top-notch—it couldn't have been better. A restaurant we can wholeheartedly recommend. We'll definitely be back! Today, we ate at the Gasthaus Schießstätte on Lake Tegernsee with the whole family – and we were absolutely thrilled! The children immediately felt at home and were overjoyed with their children's schnitzel (a huge portion!). My wife and parents ordered the Kirta duck – tender as butter, crispy on the outside, served with delicate red cabbage and dumplings – a dream! I had the pretzel schnitzel with a side salad and was thrilled with its size (I'd never seen such a huge schnitzel before), its taste, and its quality. The service was warm and attentive, and the view of Lake Tegernsee from the terrace was simply magnificent. There was something for everyone, the value for money was absolutely spot on, and the atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed. We'll definitely be back – a real highlight for family dinners with multiple generations!

We visited in mid-August, and the food was excellent—very good and delicious. The service was also great! Plus, the view is fantastic. While the restaurant is a bit out of the way, it's definitely worth a visit, and it's a great escape from the hustle and bustle of the city center. We weren't disappointed.

The schnitzels are perfectly cooked in oil, taste great thanks to the good (new?) oil, and are also huge. The soup also had fresh (!!!) vegetable strips. A truly excellent restaurant. Thanks for the great food.

I can't confirm the portion sizes. The schnitzel was large, but the fried potatoes were well hidden under a cloth. The feta salad wasn't particularly large either; it was a good thing it came with three slices of baguette. The worst part, though, was the dressing: some kind of watery mixture from a can with just a little vinegar and no trace of oil. If you like meat and want to have a beer with it, you can also enjoy the view of the lake.

After the change of ownership, we were skeptical about whether the quality could be maintained, but we were pleasantly surprised. Delicious food and friendly service. The pretzel coating on the schnitzel and cordon bleu is highly recommended!

Very nice, quaint restaurant. Very good food, fairly large portions, a good selection, and reasonable prices. Next time we'll go there during daylight hours to enjoy the view of Lake Tegernsee. The journey there is a bit of an adventure, with narrow streets and sharp turns, but it's worth it. We'd love to come back!

I've eaten there twice now, and both times it just didn't go well. On my last visit, on September 21, 2025, I ordered a schnitzel with a "gluten-free coating" due to an intolerance! Today I can look forward to nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Thank you so much! Maybe the chefs shouldn't fry everything in one pan?!

Definitely, because the restaurant is well-organized and the food was huge and excellent!! Only the waiter who served us was very annoying. He came to our table every 10 minutes and asked the same thing over and over again: "Is everything okay? Do you need anything else," even though our glasses were almost full. That needs to be improved. He was friendly, but we just didn't like it in our group. But we'll be back, see you sometime!

I highly recommend the Cordon Bleu for good, home-style food with a stunning view. However, if you're traveling with a group, you should reserve a table.

The view and the ambiance are amazing! The service was also super friendly and very efficient. I ordered gnocchi and the food was quite tasty, but the portions were unfortunately quite small for the price. The avocado salad was very poorly presented. The whole thing should be a bit cheaper, in my opinion.

We went there for dinner two days in a row. We had the pretzel cordon bleu and the jalapeno cordon bleu, amazing! Delicious, very friendly service. The side salad was very attractively presented, with two dressings to choose from, and very tasty. The restaurant isn't too big, so make a reservation or allow plenty of time. We'll be back :)

The gluten-free convenience schnitzel was rather small compared to the "regular" ones, but it cost €2 extra. The fried potatoes were very tasty, but the portion was rather modest for the additional €2.

We stumbled across this restaurant online by chance. Based on the positive reviews, we decided to eat there. The service was very good, and the food was excellent. We were thoroughly satisfied and will definitely return next year.

We were there last night. We were lucky and got the last table without a reservation. Since it was raining, we sat inside. When the sun is shining, there's a great terrace with a view of Lake Tegernsee. The portions were huge; you could pack the leftovers if you couldn't finish them. The service was very friendly, and the wait for the food was perfectly acceptable. All in all, it was delicious. If we're in the area again, we'll be back. Maybe we'll get lucky with the weather and be able to enjoy the wonderful terrace.

Our order was forgotten, and when the waiter finally remembered, he passed it on to the kitchen after everyone else. We waited over an hour and a half, and we were the only ones there at the time of ordering. We had to take the food with us because of the small children. One thing you have to admit, though, is that the food was really good, but the service wasn't. It wouldn't have been a problem if the waiter had admitted his mistake and apologized instead of making up some story.

We came across the shooting range by chance. When we arrived, we were already impressed by the great location. We received a very friendly welcome and felt like we were in good hands thanks to the very friendly waiter. Then came the icing on the cake: the amazing, delicious, perfect meal. We have never eaten such a large, soft and delicious schnitzel. Everything was simply perfect. We will definitely go back next year. At the end, we had a really nice chat with the friendly staff. Everyone was friendly, personable and accommodating. We are absolutely thrilled. Thank you so much for the great food and huge compliments to the kitchen.

A true highlight! We had a wonderful spot on the terrace with a magnificent view – that in itself was a delight. The menu is tastefully curated, with a fantastic selection, making it hard to decide. We chose the horseradish schnitzel and the zander and trout duo – both dishes were absolute hits: fresh, lovingly prepared, and flavorful to perfection. What a culinary addition to Tegernsee! The seating is very comfortable on the beautiful terrace with a magnificent view of Lake Tegernsee, the tables are lovingly decorated, and the menu offers something for every taste. The service is very attentive and genuinely friendly, and the new hosts are warm and enthusiastic. We haven't had such a good meal in the Tegernsee Valley for a long time. The food is freshly cooked, and you can taste it. The value for money is just right here. We are happy to be able to stop by here again as locals and would be happy to return. We highly commend it and definitely recommend it!

While looking for somewhere to eat outside of the towns around Lake Tegernsee, we found this restaurant. Located above Lake Tegernsee, with a lovely terrace overlooking the lake and truly delicious food (crispy schnitzel and two kinds of fish: trout and zander), we had a very relaxing evening. Unfortunately, the quality of the food and, above all, the selection have declined dramatically since the change of ownership. There's very little choice for vegetarians compared to before, which really should be standard these days. I liked the old concept much better. However, the service team is very friendly and accommodating; you can't complain at all. The ambiance is, of course, still beautiful.

Since the "old shooting range" had been our regular haunt for years whenever we were at Tegernsee or nearby, we wanted to see what the new team had to offer. Unfortunately, I, as a vegetarian, which was never a problem there, was completely disappointed. Aside from soup, a salad with cheese dumplings, and baked Camembert, there was nothing for vegetarians. When I asked, the waitress offered me salads (with turkey, etc.) and fish dishes. Since they didn't accommodate me, I ended up with a portion of fries (only one size) and a side salad. What a shame...

Es ist immer wieder schön bei den Fenneberg‘s. Auch diesmal das Lokal nett hergerichtet der Tisch schön gedeckt. Leider der letzte Abend, da das Lokal den Inhaber wechselt. Wir hoffen dass die neuen Wirtsleute genau so nett sind, da es nicht viele Lokale für die Einheimischen gibt.

A super great and very homely guesthouse. When you come in, you immediately feel very comfortable. The ambience looks rustic and beautiful. The general atmosphere feels very warm and welcoming. The service was also very warm. She took good care of all the guests and everyone was served promptly. We ordered schnitzel with fries and a salad. You could hear the chef pounding the schnitzels in the background, so they were freshly made. We originally wanted to go to the inn right on Lake Tegernsee, but it was extremely overcrowded and so we were incredibly happy that we found this great inn. It's a shame that we live 500km away, otherwise we would be there more often. But we know where we will definitely go when we are back at Tegernsee and we are already looking forward to it. Thanks to the inn for the enjoyment and the pleasant stay. We would be happy to come back to you. :-)

Beautiful restaurant just outside of Tegernsee. Lovely panoramic view of the lake, probably beautiful in the summer. The inside is also beautifully decorated. Short list of dishes, but everything was delicious. You can only pay cash or with an EC card. Parking just outside of the restaurant is available.

Grüß Gott! a day of wanderlust and adventure… unexpected landscapes and dangerous mountain paths… we found the best walking sticks one could ever hope for (the three S’s: sturdy, stable and stylish!!). after a day like this, there is nothing better than a Jäger Schnitzel mit einem Beilagen Salat—köstlich!
