My wife and I have been visiting this restaurant for many years. We always consider it a highlight of our vacation. The welcome is always warm and welcoming. The dishes are varied, and there's always something for us. We especially love our ice cream for dessert, always served with a smile. After all these years, we have nothing negative to say. We look forward to our next visit.

The food was delicious, the service was super friendly, and the dessert is highly recommended. The prices are absolutely reasonable for this quality! I'd be happy to come back!

Michelin says that a restaurant with 3 stars is worth a trip in its own right. And I can confirm that for this restaurant! By far the best restaurant on the island! I would have published the menu I photographed, but I won't out of respect for the owner. She likes to keep her creative ideas to herself. ;-) I can only offer this tip: The fish soup as a starter is second to none!!! I'll be back and highly recommend making reservations in advance.

A great restaurant with a bar and everything your heart desires. You can even buy small but lovely souvenirs here. The service is prompt and upscale, always friendly. The food is excellent. Prices are absolutely reasonable. The location is also fantastic. Everything is just right here!

The four of us had sirloin pans (an additional recommendation off the menu) with fried potatoes and green beans. These were delicious with a rich, well-seasoned sauce. The sauce wasn't overpowering, however, and the quantity was perfect. The meat was tender and the beans were perfectly crisp. Not to mention the fried potatoes, simply heavenly. Probably the good Pellworm potatoes. Very harmonious and beautifully decorated, the service friendly and attentive. We were assigned the right table even with a young dog. The dessert of Pharisee parfait, iced chocolate, and red fruit compote with a scoop of salted caramel ice cream was a dream. Conclusion: Full marks in all categories. You can simply taste the good craftsmanship, where everything is freshly prepared and homemade. A visit to the Hooger Fähre is a culinary delight, without ifs, ands, or buts.

The Hooger Fähre inn has been decorated with incredible attention to detail, from the wall color to the furniture to the beautiful table decorations. Landlady Kirsten makes you feel at home, no matter how busy it is (and it actually always is). She's always friendly, always has a smile on her face, and takes time for each guest. The selection of dishes is absolutely fantastic, with something for every taste, including several vegetarian options. The homemade lemonades are simply fantastic, as are the homemade ice cream and the amazing cakes. Every single dish is always outstanding! The prices are absolutely fair for the quality and quantity – we were all about to burst, but everything was definitely too delicious to leave anything behind! We were there today and reserved a table for next week weeks ago because eating at Kirsten's is always an absolute highlight for us and a must-try on vacation! 🤤😍

It was so beautiful! I want to give it at least 6 stars 🙂 We were on Pellworm years ago and had a very good meal on the terrace of the Hooger ferry. Then, a few months ago, we happened to see on the N3 Nordstory that the Hooger ferry was being rebuilt after a fire, and since it was a birthday party, we booked right away and went back to the island. One thing in advance: You can't go without a reservation. It was completely booked out, and the waiters were really working their tails off; they were always friendly and cheerful, respect! We had plaice with crab and fried potatoes, as well as fried fish in mustard sauce with fried potatoes, and it was very, very good! I can't remember the last time I ate such good fish. Our table was also specially set for the birthday, and we were personally greeted. So: Highly recommended!

Absolutely top-notch. Thank you for this truly wonderful meal. A feast for the eyes and the palate. The price for what is offered here is unbeatable. I highly recommend the Pharisee's Parfait... fantastic. The dining room is tastefully decorated, and the service made you feel immediately at home. Anyone who comes to the island should definitely stop here.

If you're comfortable with being nagged by the staff, this is the place to be. Terrible service. And: No, this isn't the bistro by the sea. That's closed on Mondays.

In summary: absolutely recommended!!! And: reservations required! We had a delicious meal here. The menu offers a wide variety, including great children's dishes. The plates were appetizingly presented, and the children's were even more amazing. Here, the eye can also enjoy the meal. Everything is freshly prepared; nothing tasted like a ready-made product. Homemade cookies with our espresso. A booster seat for our littlest one was immediately offered. Children's games were brought to our table to pass the time. The two waiting ladies were more than friendly, welcoming, and attentive. The restaurant is a visual eye-catcher and absolutely clean, including the restrooms! We all felt at home. I can highly recommend the Hooger Fähre! We ate there twice during our vacation at the end of June, and our visit was a real highlight – from the very first moment, we felt warmly welcomed and well looked after. The food was absolutely fantastic: fresh, creatively prepared, and bursting with flavor. The selection of dishes is particularly impressive – there's something for every taste, and you can immediately tell that the food is cooked with love and passion. The service was incredibly friendly and competent. The staff took plenty of time to make recommendations and answer all our questions, thus giving us an unforgettable experience. You can tell that the people here are passionate about what they do, which makes the stay even more special. The ambience is simply beautiful – cozy, stylish, and with lovingly decorated decor that invites you to linger. It's the perfect place to spend a wonderful time. I'm also particularly impressed by the little house gifts that you can purchase. The lovingly crafted souvenirs are a wonderful memento of your visit and also make wonderful gifts for friends and family. In short: The Hooger Fähre is a place full of warmth, enjoyment, and charm. We stopped at the restaurant for lunch yesterday during a bike tour around Pellworm. My wife had minute heifer steaks, and I finally had Labskaus for the first time in a long time. My wife's steaks were excellently grilled (medium rare and juicy), and my Labskaus was the best I've ever eaten (and I've eaten a lot); the craftsmanship was superb. I highly recommend the restaurant, it's just a shame that it's on Pellworm, and that the price of the meal also includes the cost of the ferry. The service was also extremely friendly and accommodating. If we're ever back on Pellworm, this restaurant will be our first choice.

We had dinner at the Hooger Fähre Inn during our Pellworm vacation! The ambiance is modern, stylish, "island-like," and authentic in every way! The service is very courteous, attentive, and always strives to fulfill requests quickly! The warmth of the staff is truly pleasant. The food was fantastic in every way. The taste, presentation, and everything else were simply top-notch! The fish was outstanding! I've rarely eaten such good savoy cabbage 😉 The seasoning of all the dishes was also first-class. I can highly recommend every Pellworm vacationer to visit this wonderful location and simply enjoy it! Reservations are definitely recommended, as others also appreciate the good food and ambiance.

The Hooger Ferry is definitely an absolute highlight on Pellworm! The food is exceptionally tasty and plentiful! The staff is amazing! The atmosphere is very pleasant! It's very noticeable that the work here is done with a lot of heart and expertise!

I had reserved lunch at the Hooger Fähre restaurant on May 30, 2025, as part of a tour of the island with users from the eScooter Treff forum (escooter-treff.de). We received a warm welcome. I really liked the atmosphere. Everyone said the food was excellent. The owner was very nice and always up for a quick chat :-) When we made the reservation, we were also told we could charge our eScooters outside, even after the restaurant was closed. I found that very accommodating. I definitely recommend a visit!

The inn has a beautiful outdoor and indoor area. The building was rebuilt in 2020/21. It's best to make a reservation. We had wonderful, bright spring weather and sat outside with a view of the fields. The food was very tasty. I tried the fried fish once and it was great. There is homemade ice cream, which I will eat next time. The portion of fried fish with fried potatoes and tartar sauce was so generous that unfortunately nothing else fit in. My companion's baked schnitzel was also super tasty and recommended. The owner served us very friendly and humorously. You can tell that there is a lot of heart and soul put into this. We look forward to next time.

Wir waren heute mit unseren 3 Kindern in der Hooger Fähre und es war einfach perfekt! Die Gastgeber ist an Freundlichkeit kaum zu überbieten. Man kommt in die Hooger Fähre und fühlt sich wie ein guter Freund, der zu Gast ist. Unseren Kindern wurde direkt Spielzeug zur Beschäftigung angeboten, wir hatten kaum Wartezeit und das Essen war sehr lecker! Wir können keinen einzigen Kritikpunkt finden und würden jederzeit wieder kommen...

I can only recommend the Hooger Fähre restaurant. We ate here on the first day of our vacation because of the good reviews on Google. Since we liked it so much, we repeated the whole thing again. 🤤 The service was great, a small mistake when serving the drinks was immediately corrected in a friendly manner. Anyone who stays on Pellworm and doesn't stop here is missing out on something. This beautiful restaurant has a very good selection of different dishes, fish but also meat dishes. Everything lovingly prepared and very delicious. The service is excellent and very friendly. All in all a very nice restaurant with really tasty dishes. Reservation recommended.

Wir waren nach 2 Jahren wieder dort und haben erneut einen großartigen, sehr freundlichen und aufmerksamen Service erlebt. Obwohl die Chefin im Service wieder allein war, hatte sie alles im Griff, war schnell, professionell und sehr freundlich. Sie fragte immer wieder nach dem Wohlbefinden, entschuldigte sich wegen der Wartezeit und war sehr sympathisch. Das Essen war ganz frisch, wir hatten Sellerieschnitzel mit Pilzrahmsauce, extrem lecker und eine riesen Portion. Die Bratkartoffeln kamen sogar ohne Speck für uns Vegetarier, mein Mann hatte den Speck dafür in seiner Sauce. Prima gelöst! Die Preise sind völlig ok, die selbstgemachte Limonade sehr empfehlenswert! Wäre ich nicht so satt gewesen, hätte ich auch noch das selbstgemachte Apfelkompott probiert! :-) Wir können das Lokal ebenfalls nur wärmstens empfehlen!!!

We were guests on Pellworm 2 weeks ago and spent 3 evenings on the Hooger ferry. And that's exactly how you feel warmly welcome there as a guest. Whether from Kirsten, Wibke or Stefan, of course the hard-working employees in the kitchen too. I followed the recommendations of the day and am sure I have never eaten such deliciously prepared fresh fish. The other dishes on the menu, which my partner enjoyed, were also very delicious. Our dog was also very welcome and looked forward to the treats at the end every evening. Kirsten's ice cream variations are also worth highlighting, especially the Pharsee parfait. If our path takes us back to Pellworm, you will definitely be our point of contact. That's why we've now given our parents a holiday stay with you. We had a very nice evening :) The food was really delicious, the portion was a reasonable size and the atmosphere was modern and cozy. There was also enough choice for non-fish eaters. The waitresses were both really friendly, quick, warm and child-friendly :) Prices are of course not super cheap, but reasonable and there was nothing to complain about :) Reservation recommended

Probably the best restaurant on the island. Great service, great food and super cozy. Even though the historic building burned down, the new building was a great success.

Wieder mal zum Erholen auf Pellworm und auch diese Mal führte uns der Weg zum Abendessen ins Hooger Fährhaus. Die gute Erinnerung, die wir an unseren letzten Besuch hatten wurde nicht enttäuscht. Wieder mal war das Essen fantastisch und mit Liebe angerichtet. Die Kinderteller hatten auch noch ein paar Nachtisch-Gummibärchen und liebevoll geschnitzte Obststückchen in Bärchenform. Die sympathische Bedienung rundet diesen Abend ab und wir fühlten uns wie bei Freunden...wir freuen uns schon sehr auf unsere nächsten Besuch.

Sehr sehr schade!! Zum Essen ist es leider nicht gekommen :-( Es ist normal, dass man keine Reservierung platzieren kann, wenn das Restaurant voll ist. Aber kurz angebunden zu sein und dazu mega gestresst ( 17 Uhr) und unfreundlich dazu, ist wenig professionell ! Wer auf seiner Internetseite vollmundig seit 4 Generationen leidenschaftlich Gastronomie zu betreiben sollte sich darüber mal Gedanken machen. Vielleicht ist das auf Pellworm auch nicht nötig, weil das eh ein Selbstläufer ist. Scheint mir so. Selbstgemachte Pasta ist am werden, frische Zutaten in der Pfanne, wir werden nicht verhungern und unsere 3 Tage auf Pellworm genießen 😉

Let yourself be pampered by a family of innkeepers here at the Gasthaus Hooger Fähre. The service is excellent and the food is simply unique, no matter what you choose from the menu or the daily dish recommendations. Even the extremely friendly and competent young waitress explained which fish was on the plate. The prices are absolutely reasonable for this incredibly good food and outstanding service. We received a very friendly welcome. The open house is cozy and modernly furnished. It was a very nice atmosphere throughout. A very big compliment goes to the kitchen. The captain's plate was a poem. The staff was friendly and very attentive. We are very excited and thank you for this lovely evening.

Luckily we had reserved a table, otherwise we probably wouldn't have gotten a seat. We were greeted very friendly. Even though we were early, we were able to grab our table straight away. After we were brought delicious homemade lemonade and freshly tapped Jever, we decided on the Büsumer style plaice with fried potatoes and plaice fillet in an egg shell with homemade bacon potato salad. Both were super fresh and delicious. Afterwards we were actually really full. But a look at the special dessert menu told us that there was eggnog cheesecake. Since we had already eaten it there two years ago, we HAD to eat another piece for dessert. 😊 And we weren't disappointed! Unfortunately, the recipe is still not revealed. But I can understand that. No recipe on the internet is so delicious!!! Preferably 10 stars for that alone. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is simply unique. So modern after the renovation and yet with old highlights built in. Thumbs up. We'll come back again.

Unfortunately we only discovered it on the last evening of our holiday, otherwise we would definitely have come back again. Delicious, fresh, regional food, something different even for vegetarians. Despite the hut being full, the staff was super nice. Mixed up the order for the child when I was stressed, just as tasty and on the house. We discovered a game (Wizard) in the “cupboard against boredom” that we would have liked to have bought right then and there. Definitely go! And drink the homemade lemonade. We have been coming to the island for several years and always book a table on the Hooger ferry from home. The restaurant is absolutely recommended. The varied daily menus, whether fish or meat, are all very tasty. A big compliment to the cook and also to the always very nice boss...

Very nice restaurant with a wonderful ambience and delicious food with a good price-performance ratio! Be sure to try the homemade ice cream: the perfect end to the meal! The only small drawback: I think it would be good to not only be presented with the final total of the bill, but also how it is made up. Correction: I'm very embarrassed: my husband had the entire bill, unfortunately I didn't notice. I am very sorry.

A wonderful, newly designed restaurant in a great location right on the Hooger ferry. Fast and good service, freshly prepared food and a small shop area with delicacies from the island make the visit a completely successful experience.

We came here spontaneously after a walk on the dike... and were really impressed by the friendliness of the owner, who "throws" the service, and the great and very tasty food. We have reserved a table for the day after tomorrow - we definitely have to go here again at the end of our vacation! We bought a bottle of the homemade gin straight away, it was a MUST... sooooo delicious! An unconditional recommendation from us.

In my opinion, obviously the best you can get on Pellworm. Very friendly and attentive service, no rush in the menu sequence, so you can eat in peace. There was, among other things, delicious in-house gin to drink. You're welcome to try it out and if you like it, take it home with you. I got two bottles straight away. When eating, we were impressed by the good quality of the smoked salmon (with rösti) and the pollock (fried fish) in terms of taste and color. The homemade ingredients, such as cream horseradish and remoulade sauce, were very tasty. The fried potatoes could have used a bit more sun in the kitchen for me, but then they might be too dark for others. In any case, it was very tasty, very plentiful and absolutely reasonable in price. In other places on Pellworm you can see more on the menu for less. Both the outdoor area and the guest room make a beautifully furnished and tasteful, cozy impression. For my taste, it's just the right balance between modern-elegant and traditional inn. Mother and son present a friendly, warm image in service. Many guests are regulars. We immediately felt like we were in good hands and would love to come back!

In den ersten beiden Septemberwochen 2023 haben wir wieder auf unserer Lieblingsinsel Pellworm Urlaub gemacht. Da das Gasthaus Hooger Fähre zur Abendessenzeit stark frequentiert ist, sollte man rechtzeitig reservieren! Wir haben das bereits vor Urlaubsantrtt getan und konnten so an zwei Abenden das tolle Ambiente dieser Lokalität genießen. Auch unsere Familienhündin Luna ist hier herzlich willkommen. Mein Mann isst gerne Fischgerichte und freut sich immer schon vorab auf die täglichen Empfehlungen, welche hier noch mündlich präsentiert werden. Gekocht wird hier noch frisch und saisonal sowie auch nach alten Familienrezepten. Das selbst hergestellte Eis sollte man unbedingt probieren - lecker! Die Chefin und die Bedienung sind sehr nett und freundlich - hier ist der Gast noch König! Das empfohlene Gericht als Kabeljau im Speckmantel mit mediterranem Gemüse und Bratkartoffeln hat meinen Mann sehr gemundet. Auch das Schnitzel Holsteiner Art war super lecker. Gehobene Gastronomie zu moderaten Preisen

Uns hat es hier sehr gut gefallen und geschmeckt. Die Portionen waren rieeesig . Das Preis Leistung s Verhältnis ist angemessen. Die Bedienung sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Auch das neue Ambiente ist sehr angenehm.
