Update: were there today, it was too warm for me. Food was okay, but my meat wasn't seasoned properly. When we asked, we were told that the ox shreds were not ox meat, but beef. Too bad... ---------------- One of our favorite restaurants. Exceptional original dishes, always delicious. Great Gutmann Hefeweizen.

If you want to eat delicious, typical and unusual German dishes in Neustadt, you're in great hands here. I was very impressed with the dishes from the daily menu. Well prepared and every bite was a pleasure. The service and the ambience round off the evening perfectly, especially the two warm ladies who take good care of you and take time for their guests. Simply first class!

We were greeted very unfriendly at the door, the waitress came from behind and bumped into me as we came in without apologizing 👎 then she turned around and assessed me from top to bottom as a woman with mobility problems with a walker and in a rude tone snapped “Have you made a reservation?” No, we didn't because we arrived that day as holiday guests in the Palatinate and didn't know that because we had made a reservation But just the way the service was unfriendly and rude would have made us leave even if they had had space If you stare at guests because they have walking difficulties and work in the catering and service sectors, it's no wonder why German restaurants are gradually going bankrupt 😡 We then got a table at the nearby Konfetti restaurant without a reservation, were warmly welcomed there and even had another meal there during our holiday week 👍😍 The Gerberhaus will definitely not see us again and is not a recommendation!!!!

Great rustic atmosphere and really good food at good prices. Typical Palatinate cuisine.

I received a very unfriendly welcome and was given a table with a dismissive gesture. And then for the rest of my stay there (I sat very close to the counter) I listened to both waitresses gossiping about the guests. One waitress was at least friendly to me, the other was snotty and passive aggressive in her demeanor. I wonder why you work in service if you apparently hate people. I find it very unprofessional and I didn't eat anything there because I lost my hunger with the kind of behavior I was treated with. Similar reviews of the service have also been written here on Google Reviews. As a boss, I would rethink my choice of employees... I will not stop there again and I will also advise those around me not to do so.

Cozy restaurant in the old town. Delicious food and a nice selection of different wines from local winemakers. The staff was always friendly, even when the restaurant was full.

The food was ok, the service was very unfriendly. Since the food was ok and we had to wait quite a long time until the order was taken, only a small tip was given. The waitress didn't think it was necessary to say thank you or say goodbye for the tip or our visit. The colleague also complained about the poor tip. I'm willing to pay more for good food and nice service, but not for that. Very rude

We were warmly welcomed with a charming charm from the waitress. The beer and the wine spritzer are recommended. At the beginning there was a friendly greeting from the kitchen. The taste of the dishes was convincing and the price-performance ratio was appropriate. The children's meals were sufficient and the response was quick when a schnitzel was requested. We would certainly have had a wine spritzer and a beer more if someone had asked. We will come again on our next visit.

The Gerberhaus is definitely recommended. The food is tasty and the portions are a good size. The staff does a good job. The only thing that surprised me was the prices. The Gerberschnitzel comes without any salad garnish for around 20 euros. With a small side salad about 25 euros. In a Germany-wide comparison, this is a little higher than usual for a breaded schnitzel with fried potatoes, but the evening/dishes/service were great, so it was well spent and happily spent.

Here's another restaurant with full points! It's not good to be hungry on the wine route, so we had to quickly find something to eat. Several people told us about the tanner's house, where you could eat well. What can I say?. They were right! We ate very well here and were served very friendly, even without a reservation. We have a clear recommendation!

The first visit to the tanner's house. The external appearance of this beautiful half-timbered house has often made one think of dining there. The restaurant is very beautiful both inside and out. Unfortunately, my seat was a bit awkward, right next to the cash register/bar area. The service staff loudly gossiped about guests and their orders. Absolutely no problem in itself and I don't care, as long as it doesn't happen at a volume that would make you feel disturbed. Now to the more important part of the food: Absolutely fine. Excellent Dijon mustard sauce. Price wise mmn. a little more expensive compared to the local competition. Desserts are overpriced. Are not recommended.

As we found out during our visit, there is a new chef working here. But unfortunately the food is no longer as good as it used to be. It's a shame, as the ambience and service are excellent. But what good is that if it doesn't taste good?

We were at the tanner's house today and with 4 people we decided on the most expensive dish, the ox shreds. Unfortunately, we discovered that the meat was stringy throughout and absolutely inedible. This is what we know from soup meat. It was very poor quality meat, which in no way does justice to the price of the dish at over €23. When the waitress asked whether the food was OK, we responded accordingly. The waitress only offered us an espresso or a schnapps to make up for it. That's a sign of lack of understanding and rip-off! The restaurant is not recommended!

This quaint inn is hidden in a side street. Beautiful half-timbered building on the outside and traditionally cozy on the inside. One can choose from an extensive wine list or regular drinks. There are also various delicious tarte flambée variations. It's worth trying!

We managed to get one of the last seats on a Sunday lunchtime, but were still served quickly. The food also came quite quickly. We can recommend the restaurant.

Nice, old restaurant with history. Everyone will find something tasty on the menu. The dishes are very tasty and at a reasonable price. A good selection of wine and drinks as well as friendly, prompt service rounds off the positive overall picture. Reservation is recommended.

We have been to Neustadt Weinstraße many times but never to the Gerberhaus. But this time we wanted to visit a restaurant that we hadn't been to yet. So much for the choice, thank God for the tanner's house. We really liked it there and the food (4 different dishes) was very tasty. We'll definitely be back. However, the restaurant is busy and you should make a reservation.

Nice, rustic atmosphere combined with good food. Attentive and quick service. Price/performance absolutely reasonable. If you are nearby, highly recommended. But since there aren't too many places available, go early or, even better, make a reservation in advance.

Very good German dishes, including game dishes in a historical atmosphere, absolutely worth seeing. Even without a reservation, we got a very nice seat and had an excellent meal. We recommend! Price-performance ratio absolutely fine. We'd love to come back when we're in Neustadt again.

Schönes uriges Ambiente verbunden mit gutem Essen. Aufmerksame und schnelle Bedienung. Preis/Leistung absolut angemessen. Seid ihr in der Nähe sehr zu empfehlen. Da aber nicht zuviel Plätze vorhanden sind geht früh oder noch besser mit voriger Reservierung hin.

Waren spontan nach einer Winterwanderung mit Kind und Hund dort zum Essen. Super nette Bedienungen, tolles Ambiente, leckeres Essen. Das Essen ist sehr liebevoll zubereitet und die Karte bietet einige kleine Besonderheiten an. Preislich im oberen Durchschnitt angesiedelt, was es absolut wert ist. Werden gerne wiederkommen.

An und für sich ein schönes Restaurant, aber die Servicekräfte waren eine reine Zumutung! Es hat ewig gedauert bis wir bestellen konnten, dann musste es aber ruck zuck gehen. Das Essen hat geschmeckt, alles fein. Nach dem Essen wurden unsere Teller nicht abgeräumt und die Rechnung kam auch erst nach mehrerer Nachfrage! Das Lokal war nicht voll, daher absolut kein Verständnis einen so lang warten zu lassen.

Leckeres Essen, was auch schnell zum Tisch gekommen ist. Leider kein allzu gemütlicher Ort, um länger sitzen zu bleiben und weiter zu trinken, da die Bedienung darauf konzentriert war, mehr und neue Essensgäste unterzubringen.

Guter Ort für ein schnelles Essen. Wer sich Zeit lassen und noch etwas trinken möchte ist hier eher fehl am Platz. Man hat zu spüren bekommen, dass es um die schnelle Bedienung von vielen Kunden nacheinander geht.

Hier stimmt einfach alles: das tolle Ambiente eines schön erhaltenen Fachwerkhauses, sowohl Qualität als auch Geschmack und Portionen der typisch Pfälzer Gerichte (es gibt auch noch anderes, zB Flammkuchen), die große, leckere Wein- und Bierauswahl - und als i-Tüpfelchen tragen die Servicekräfte hübsche Landhaus Trachten.

Ich war das erste mal im Gerberhaus und wurde eingeladen. Das Essen war lecker, bis auf das mein Rumpsteak nicht den gewünschten Bratzustand hatte. Die Bedienung empfand ich als gestresst und ein bisschen arrogant. Kann ja sein das es ein Top Lokal ist in NW und sie es nicht mehr nötig haben. Aber eben... ich fühlte mich nicht gut aufgehoben und werde vermutlich in Zukunft vorbei laufen

Nettes Lokal mit freundlichen Bedienungen im Dirndl. Das Essen hingegen ist lieblos, Fertigsoßen. Beilagensalat wird extra berechnet. Aus meiner Sicht wäre da deutliches Steigerungspotential in der Qualität.

Ein sehr durchschnittliches Erlebnis. Die forsche Bedienung wies uns Plätze zu und ließ uns spüren, dass wir nicht reserviert hatten. Das Essen hat uns gut geschmeckt und war ausreichend. Auch nach dem Essen ging es hauptsächlich darum viele Leute im Lokal zu platzieren.. Es war eine Erfahrung, wir werden nicht wieder kommen.

Wir kommen immer gern her, wenn wir in Neustadt sind. Das Essen ist immer gut und der Service außerordentlich zuvorkommend. Ich kann die Spinat Knödel sehr empfehlen!

Wir waren das erste mal und unangemeldet im Gerberhaus. Das Personal hat uns sehr freundlich empfangen. Da wir unsere deutsche Dogge dabei hatten, bekamen wir einen Tisch in der Ecke ( gegenüber der Registrierkasse) zugewiesen. Unser Hund wurde mit Wasser versorgt und ließ sich dann gemütlich auf die Seite fallen, wo er dann auch seelig schlief. Dies hatte zur Folge das, das Servicepersonal über ihn drüber steigen musste um die Bestellungen einzugeben. Die Damen nahmen es alle mit Humor und waren entzückt über den schlafenden Riesen. Wir bekamen unser Essen, welches wirklich geschmacklich und qualitativ überzeugt hat. Was uns allerdings wirklich beeindruckt hat, war das Servicepersonal. Trotz hohem Gästeaufkommen, waren die Damen alle wahnsinnig aufmerksam, freundlich und gut gelaunt. Ein absolut professionelles und eingespieltes Team. Absoluter Jackpot für den Gastronomen!!!! Wir wurden mit den Worten " kommen Sie uns doch bald wieder besuchen" verabschiedet, was wir auf jeden Fall wieder tun werden. Das Gerberhaus ist absolut zu empfehlen. Leider sind nur 5 Sterne möglich, wir würden gerne mehr vergeben.

Hatten hier einen wirklich schönen Abend mit guter Küche, freundlichen Servicekräften und einem wirklich traumhaften Ambiente. Ich finde es gibt hier ein sehr angemessenes Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis :) Reservierung ist erforderlich, Hunde sind willkommen!

Das Essen war durchschnittlich. Eine Servicekraft zu wenig für die Gästezahl, was diese zu überspielen versuchte, aber nicht gelang. Ambiente ist gut und lädt zum Verweilen ein. Für uns gibt es bessere Alternativen in Neustadt.

Sehr gute Karte. Der Wein könnte ein etwas breiteres Angebot vertragen. Es ist schließlich die Pfalz. Das Essen war ein Genuss. Die Vorspeise war marinierte Feigen mit Ziegenfrischkäse. Hauptgericht war der Zwiebelrostbraten Nachspeise war die Mousse au Chocolat

Das Essen ist gut und die Getränke erst recht, die Preise finde ich beim Essen etwas überhöht für die Qualität, dafür sind die Getränkepreis klasse. Ich geb dem Gerber-Haus gerne eine 2. Chance..
