Unfortunately there was no food, the rest was fine.

The Gasthaus Engel in Überlingen offers a good selection for vegans, with clearly marked dishes on the menu. I really enjoyed the lentil hummus and the atmosphere was pleasantly calm. The service is friendly and attentive. I definitely recommend the place.

It's missing a little bit of seasoning/salt but otherwise the food is great. The service is very pleasant, the prices are steep but acceptable.

Nice atmosphere. We were a little later than usual ;-), so there weren't that many guests present. It really tasted good. All the MA were very nice. In the meantime, you also have to address the price situation, which in this case can also be seen as a completely positive thing.

Unfortunately we didn't have a great stay here. Unfortunately, the draft beer that my companion wanted was out because the keg was empty and there was no employee on site who could connect a new one. The same thing with the second draft beer... The two waiters were friendly and tried hard but I think they weren't that experienced yet. I completely understand that, I come from the catering industry myself. We didn't eat anything because our bellies were already full. At the next table, however, a group left a lot of leftovers and reported back that the food didn't taste good. Unfortunately, the response to the feedback wasn't very constructive. At the other table next to us the cutlery was missing even though the food was already there and it took a long time to arrive. At the other table, a lady waited a long time for her wine. There weren't any more tables, so there wasn't much activity, the empty tables were mostly untidy - not a very nice picture. Maybe we had unfortunate timing, but at least one trained worker should always be on a shift, here a little too much went wrong at once - no criticism of the (probably) untrained service staff - no master has fallen from heaven yet 🙃

Food was very tasty. Some salt was missing, but that's probably personal taste. It's better to add too little salt yourself than too much. The “2nd row” means it’s a few euros cheaper than the restaurants directly on the promenade.

Delicious restaurant with friendly staff and a cozy atmosphere. The old building is surprising as soon as you enter, as what you are looking for here is by no means an outdated inn, as the name might suggest, but rather a modern, open facility. Wide selection on the menu from cheese spaetzle to roast beef to various fish dishes. What was particularly pleasantly surprising was the demand for whether the portions were large enough or whether something could be added later. It is important to know who wants to eat here with the gourmet block: the voucher must be registered when ordering, otherwise it cannot be taken into account.

A restaurant where the chef actually cooks himself instead of heating something up: unfortunately that is becoming increasingly rare! It's all the more wonderful that the Engel still cooks their own food! During our visit today, the chef talked a lot: the onions are peeled (and roasted!), the breadcrumbs for the schnitzel are made, and the spaetzle is made in-house. The Gasthaus Engel in Überlingen is a fine highlight, also suitable for our group of six people. The cozy atmosphere and friendly service are really pleasant. Every dish on the menu, from traditional to innovative, sounds interesting and delicious. Particularly noteworthy is the homemade apple strudel, for a perfect ending ;-)

First - the wait staff was nice and attentive. The onion roast was weak. Thin meat, store-bought roasted onions and the sauce tasted like Aldi's. For 29 euros I expect more. Drinks are also upscale. Herbal lemonade = syrup with soda for 4.50 euros at 0.4 I don't like it either. If this were homemade lemonade it would be okay. But like that... Weak and not worth the money.

Great food in the old town atmosphere. There was Allgäu cheese spaetzle and the fish platter. Before that, a greeting came from the kitchen with tomato pesto and bread. We have rarely seen such lovingly prepared food. Full recommendation

What can I say? Total enthusiasm. My husband was in rehab in Überlingen and we came to Engel through a recommendation. Nothing better could have happened to us. This will be our new regular restaurant when we are in Überlingen. Everyone was super nice and super friendly. The food was excellently prepared. Time was also taken to exchange a few personal words. Not everything quick, quick. You feel absolutely welcome. Price-performance ratio also suitable. Keep it up. We will be back!!!

Went there for lunch today with the voucher book. Super nice, young team and absolutely delicious food. In our opinion, the portions were sufficient, but we were told that otherwise there would be a free refill. We can only recommend the Gasthaus Engel and would be happy to come back.

More appearance than reality... We were there as a group, the atmosphere and coziness were nice. Drink prices higher than in the armory where we were yesterday. The portions were also larger there. Grill "plate" for 22 euros was very clear! 1 mini grilled sausage, 1 mini pork steak (approx. 4x8 cm...) and turkey (also small), few vegetables, potato wedges were ok in quantity - tasted good. Schnitzel Viennese style about 18 euros was only 1 and not very big. Wholemeal dumplings were ok in terms of price and performance. When we asked the waitress when we were paying, we gave our feedback. They said that you could always get a second helping with the grill plate, but the waitress probably forgot to mention that. But there wasn't even a schnapps/espresso as an apology. About half of our group wasn't really full. Everything tasted fine.

We were there now (beginning of April 24) in the preseason. It wasn't very busy, but they really put a lot of effort into looking after us as guests. The food was excellent and the portions were just right. The wine list is available upon request, but here it would be better to provide the wine list directly with the menu.

Freundliches Personal, leckeres Essen

Wir kommen sehr gerne im Urlaub hier zum Essen! Im Sommer saßen wir draussen auf der Hofstatt und jetzt im Herbst im gemütlich, modern eingerichteten Gastraum. Die kleine feine Speisekarte wird saisonal angepasst. Was wir ganz besonders schätzen, die Verwendung von regionalen Produkten und das schmeckt man!

Speisen waren ok, Weinauswahl etwas dürftig

Leider war mein Salat nicht angemacht , daraufhin habe ich Essig und Öl bzw Marinade nachbestellt, habe ich auch ein bisschen bekommen , hat aber trotzdem nicht viel besser geschmeckt. Dafür habe ich dann beim Hauptgang die Möglichkeit bekommen: einen Nachschlag könnte ich jederzeit haben.

Abendessen an einem Wochentag mit einem Kind im Schulalter: Schon auf die Aufnahme der Bestellung mussten wir recht lange warten, im Service war nur eine Dame. Auf das Essen haben wir insgesamt über eine Stunde gewartet. Das Schnitzel unseres Sohnes war lauwarm, die Pommes frites dazu waren hart und lauwarm, die hatten sicher schon länger unter der Wärmelampe gelegen. Dafür gab es einen Preisnachlass bei Beschwerde bei der Bezahlung, eine Entschuldigung nicht, lediglich die Ansage, es an die Küche weiter zu leiten. Beim „Geschnetzelten“ fehlten die Bohnen, hier wurde offensichtlich abgewartet, ob der Gast es bemerkt. Auf Nachfrage (das Gemüse sei aus) gab es einen kleinen Salat direkt aus dem Kühlschrank. Sonst ein leckeres Gericht mit aber kaum Fleisch. Beim Tafelspitz mit Petersilienkartoffeln lag genau 1 geviertelte Kartoffel mehr so als Deko. auf dem Teller, Portion auch sehr übersichtlich, aber lecker. Insgesamt kein Besuch, den wir wiederholen würden.

Ein entspannter Abend, in einem schönen Ambiente. Das Essen war sehr lecker und die Bedienung zuvorkommend. Gerne wieder!

Alle Speißen werden saisonal und regional und in Handarbeit hergestellt, sodass auf Unverträglichkeiten und Sonderwünsche perfekt eingegangen werden kann. Wie es in der Karte steht wird nachgefragt ob man noch etwas ohne Aufpreis nach haben möchte. Wir kommen definitiv wieder!
