I ordered the beef roulades. Delicious! Perfectly seasoned. My companions said their meal was a culinary delight. The restaurant was as promised... rustic, not too bright, but very cozy. Very easy to reach, located right in the heart of the old town. The service was exceptionally good. Very attentive, so we lacked nothing. We even had a good laugh with our waiter. I was there a few years ago. Now I've been back, and in the future, I'll always stop there whenever I visit beautiful Limburg.

The restaurant is very quaint. There are two floors and a basement for the restrooms. On the second floor, there are low beams where you have to watch your head if you're over 5'11" tall 😁 A knight's armor stands at the top of the stairs. The food is transported by a dumbwaiter because the stairs are too steep and narrow. The food was good and tasty.

Super delicious and fresh food. The fried potatoes are a dream. The meat is very tender and juicy. Plus, the service is super friendly.

If you're in Limburg, you should definitely visit the castle cellar. Highly recommended.

Very tasty food. Very friendly service. We visited the Burgkeller two days in a row. Highly recommended. We would come back anytime. The mashed potatoes, sauerbraten, and pork cheeks were all very tasty. Room cannot be rated. We stayed elsewhere.

A homely restaurant on two floors in an ancient half-timbered house, so the seating (at least upstairs) is pretty close together, and the ceilings are quite low. I like it, so it was all fine for me. For the food: I had an antipasti plate from the weekly(?) menu, with the typical grilled vegetables like peppers, mushrooms, zucchini, and tomatoes. Burrata sat in the middle, and pesto (I think parsley, I can't remember exactly) was on top. It was served with crispy ciabatta. The taste was good, and the consistency was also okay, but unfortunately, everything was ice cold. It probably should have been, but I personally would have preferred it warm. The service was quick and cheerful, great! A very nice wine selection! The menu is quite manageable, but OK. Everything is a bit on the expensive side, but I would do the same in a tourist town like Limburg ;-) All in all, recommended. Don't forget to make a reservation!

A very nice, traditional inn in the historic old town of Limburg an der Lahn. We stopped there for dinner after a stroll through the old town and found a well-stocked menu with local delicacies at fair prices. The service was very good, attentive, and friendly. The Sauerbraten and roulade we ordered were excellently prepared and delicious. Katja & Ralf definitely recommend this place.

We were in Limburg today for the Cross Festival and stopped in here spontaneously. The service (a young man) was very pleasant and friendly. Drinks were served quickly. The food (2x beef roulades with dumplings and red cabbage) was exceptionally delicious and more than plentiful (each had 1.5 roulades). The roulades were as tender as butter, the red cabbage perfectly balanced and not rushed. The only thing: one dumpling (out of 4) wasn't fully cooked. But we wouldn't have finished it anyway, and the quality easily made up for the small gaffe. We'll try the sauerbraten on our next visit to Limburg. 5* wholeheartedly.

Excellent location in the center of the old town, very friendly staff, and an excellent restaurant serving German cuisine. We had a very spacious apartment with two bedrooms and an additional bed, as well as a children's bed, a living room, and a well-equipped kitchen, offering excellent value for money. Unfortunately, there was no double bed, but two single beds pushed together.

Generally good. Burgschnitzel with pepper cream sauce, the pepper cream sauce had a distinctly cellary flavor that clearly didn't belong there.

We went there because we had received a voucher for this restaurant from our tour operator. It's a very quaint, rather dark place, but still comfortably furnished. The schnitzel, fried potatoes, and salad were very tasty. The fries weren't that great. The staff is very friendly and efficient. My only criticism is the noise level. Since every inch of space is used to accommodate guests, it's very cramped and very loud. It was difficult to have a normal conversation. Therefore, we left the restaurant immediately after eating.

As a group of five, we were given a table, which we were asked to change after we had already ordered because it turned out the waiter had made a mistake. Since there were no other tables available for five people, we protested and received the rude reply from the sleazy waiter that there would be no room for us. Unbelievable! The restaurant's interior is also not recommended: very low ceilings, loud, and stuffy. Not recommended.

Super delicious food. We'll be back. I highly recommend it. Addendum August 2025 Unfortunately, the quality is no longer the same. The restrooms aren't as clean, and the food isn't as good as it used to be. Sorry, it's just the way it is.

Six of us went for dinner. The staff was very friendly and quick. The food was okay. There weren't enough sauces in general, and the schnitzel was tasty but too thin and dry. But otherwise, nothing to complain about. Prices are on the higher end. But we would go again.

Hello, We were there today with our company. Unfortunately, the food was not tasty at all. Whether it was my own or my colleagues'. I had a salad with beef and mushrooms. The mushrooms and meat arrived cold at the table, and some of the meat was too raw to eat. The other colleagues had salads, schnitzel, or spaetzle. They also said that the fries tasted "like they'd been fried three times," the dressing was sweet, and the food was far too greasy. The timing was also unplanned, so one of our colleagues had to eat alone because her food arrived 15-20 minutes later than the other dishes. Unfortunately, a flop for us. The service, location, and taste don't justify the prices.

Was just passing through for a meal, difficult to find a parking space, food was very good, for me the meat was a little bit undercooked and well cooked in the Burgkeller pan but I prefer it well cooked, with the pork 👍 all in all I would order the same again, for vegetarians the Weidmannsteller is excellent according to my companion 🤤 rustically furnished according to the name and worth a detour

Had to wait a really long time, the food was very greasy, with a lot of cheese. I got really sick that evening. The staff was rude. I would absolutely never eat here again.

The food was OK, unfortunately the seasoning wasn't that great. The hand cheese was still completely hard and the roulades were a bit dry. The dumplings were cooked a bit too long and unfortunately the green sauce wasn't that great either, as it only tasted of parsley and not what it should have. All in all, I give it an OK rating.

I'm a real steak eater, and I especially like rare ones! I had such a delicious steak with pepper sauce there. I would recommend it to everyone!

We've been here several times, like just now, for lunch, and even for dinner on our own. The food has always been top-notch. The schnitzel is fantastic! The Raubritter salad and roulade are highly recommended... the homemade sauces for the schnitzel and the very tasty side salad. The only downside is that there's no green sauce for the schnitzel at the Mitzvah table 😢

A very good, rustic restaurant. There are no straight walls here, which is really nice. We can't comment on the rooms, as we only had dinner here. It was very good and highly recommended. We'll be back next time we visit Limburg.

This was our second visit to the restaurant and, just like our last visit, we were very satisfied. Great atmosphere, friendly, helpful staff, and a great selection of food and drinks. If we're ever in Limburg again, we'll be happy to come back!

A traditional establishment that fits into the ambiance of the old town, not only in terms of its architectural style and interior design, but also in its menu. The menu is traditional without veering into medieval kitsch. The design is beautifully presented with Gothic typeface and book illuminations. They had me hooked with the "Crusader Salad." Crisp leaf salad with a fruity, well-balanced dressing, complemented by beautifully sautéed mushrooms and pieces of beef. Another clear recommendation is the onion schnitzel, which comes with a garnish of golden caramelized onions and is somewhat reminiscent of a Thuringian roast beef. As for the drinks: A good beer is readily available here. The apple juice spritzer is particularly good in summer to quench your thirst. Unfortunately, I couldn't take any photos because my battery was dead :-/ The two waitresses deserve special points for their attentive and friendly service; you feel completely at ease, well looked after, and you feel that you are warmly welcomed as a guest.

We've eaten there twice with friends. The atmosphere was simply fantastic, the food was delicious, and the service was excellent. Both evenings were a complete success! We'll be back!

Absolutely disappointing! There were four of us there – all paying guests looking forward to a pleasant evening. Unfortunately, we were greeted with an unfriendly, arrogant attitude, the likes of which I've rarely experienced. I'm used to things not going according to plan. But here? Zero willingness to compromise, zero customer focus. Instead of a solution-oriented response, only rude replies and behavior that is simply not worthy of a restaurant with supposedly high standards. Result: Four fewer guests, who will certainly never return. Anyone who values hospitality, respect, and flexibility should steer clear of this place. It's a shame about the location – but that's not what hospitality looks like!

We went there for dinner. The food was very tasty. There was no side salad with the schnitzel, and the prices were in the upper-middle range. Overall, it was good, but very crowded and not exactly cheap. The house beer was very good and the wine was delicious.

We tried the two vegetarian dishes, both of which weren't particularly tasty. There was way too much cheese, and the vegetables had no taste. As a topping, we now have severe stomach problems after eating this 😒 We wouldn't go back again.

I traveled from Munich on business and there were three of us and we wanted to have a bite to eat before our flight home. The restaurant has very traditional decor and is rather dark in style, which didn't put us off. We had goulash soup twice and handkäs mit Musik once. The soup tasted of soup and parsley, and the bread was served with the handkäs once the cheese was finished. As we were in a hurry, we made our way to the bar, where we were asked very rudely if we could sit together. We also work in the service department and so have a good insight into the subject. Unfortunately, service isn't a priority in this place. Maybe it was because we didn't order anything expensive, but I wouldn't recommend it at all for a small appetite. I can't say anything about the hotel as we only ate there.

Beautiful restaurant with two outdoor terraces right next to the fish market. Friendly, competent, and fast service. The food is delicious, including the Kellerbier (cellar beer) and the herbal schnapps. Everything was excellent, we'd love to go back if we're in the area. 👍🏻

Very nice restaurant, where I sat with friends, we wanted to sit outside but at first that was not possible because it was full, but after a few minutes there was room outside again for 6 people. I had a delicious Burgerkellerpfanne, and it was super tasty, well made with pieces of schnitzel, with mushrooms and (kind of) Rösti. the food was good to pay and it was tasty, I would recommend if you are ever in the German town of Limburg to go here for a meal and a drink

A truly delicious schnitzel. (Hunter's) fresh mushrooms, fresh potatoes 🥔, etc. The side salad with a great dressing was also amazing, although I unfortunately didn't take a photo. The staff and atmosphere were also five stars. I'd love to come back here for dinner. Keep up the good work. 🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾

The food is unfortunately convenience food, from the schnitzel to the sauce to the fries. The location is quaint, but I wouldn't eat here again.

We waited an hour for our food. Frozen nuggets for our daughter, and the schnitzel tasted good, too. The portion and quality are truly ridiculous for the price. Cobwebs and dust are everywhere in the restaurant. It was the first and last time!

Lunch: The schnitzel was okay, the hunter's sauce with fresh mushrooms, the fries were good, and the best part was the salad dressing and the fresh salad – wonderful. We sat outside at a lovely table, our dog had plenty of room, and a wonderful lunch in a pleasant atmosphere.

Simply disgusting!!! Went there for dinner on Tuesday May 6th, 2025. Save it folks. Jägerschnitzel with fried potatoes €18.90 and not worth a cent. Ready-made schnitzel of very poor quality which tasted like old frying fat, the fried potatoes were just as full of oil and had the same taste. That couldn't save the sauce, which wasn't really tasty either. Conclusion: I preferred to stop eating after 3 bites. Waitress was also very pissy.

Rustic atmosphere, fully booked in the evening even on weekdays. Therefore there was a fairly long waiting time of almost 50 minutes. But the food itself was very good and the wait was worth it! Schnitzel with braised onions and sauerbraten are recommended. After 7:30 p.m. the restaurant was almost empty.

I ordered a classic onion schnitzel with fries! I got a 5 mm weak and tough piece of meat with absolutely greasy fries. I make everything much better at home... Friendly service and a rustic atmosphere.

Went here with 7 people and everyone enjoyed it. The dessert was very tasty and the service was top notch. People asked if everything was OK or if there was anything else they wanted. You can sit comfortably here in the half-timbered house between the old wooden beams. Gladly again.

Really great restaurant. Nice ambience and great service. The food was very good three of us had a schnitzel with some kind of fried potatoes which were wonderful. I myself had the beef roulade with dumplings and I have to say that this was the best roulade I have eaten so far. It was a nice stay 😊

We spontaneously went here for dinner today. Even though we hadn't made a reservation, we spontaneously got a place for two. The ambience itself would be worth 5 stars to me. Unfortunately, the music playing in the background doesn't fit the ambience so well. The food was very tasty. We had a pepper cream schnitzel with fries and a Jägerschnitzel with fried potatoes. The dishes were nice and, above all, fresh and homemade. I can only recommend the restaurant. If we are here again we would like to come back

There are a lot of T-bone steaks. The mushroom cream sauce chicken dish has a delicious sauce. All the dishes were delicious, but the potatoes were especially delicious. :)
