Disappointing, thought nice little restaurant, with good cuisine, really disappointing! Well, maybe my expectations were too high

Really great restaurant. Nice ambience and great service. The food was very good three of us had a schnitzel with some kind of fried potatoes which were wonderful. I myself had the beef roulade with dumplings and I have to say that this was the best roulade I have eaten so far. It was a nice stay 😊

We spontaneously went here for dinner today. Even though we hadn't made a reservation, we spontaneously got a place for two. The ambience itself would be worth 5 stars to me. Unfortunately, the music playing in the background doesn't fit the ambience so well. The food was very tasty. We had a pepper cream schnitzel with fries and a Jägerschnitzel with fried potatoes. The dishes were nice and, above all, fresh and homemade. I can only recommend the restaurant. If we are here again we would like to come back

Were in the castle cellar for the first time today and certainly not the last time. Totally cute and quaint restaurant. The staff was super friendly. Food was very tasty. Price performance was perfectly fine. We felt very comfortable and found the atmosphere there very appealing, you just have to like a rustic atmosphere ☺️

There are a lot of T-bone steaks. The mushroom cream sauce chicken dish has a delicious sauce. All the dishes were delicious, but the potatoes were especially delicious. :)

Good food in a rustic atmosphere

We last ate there about a year ago and had a good impression. Today (January 2025) we were there again and were unfortunately disappointed. The food came quickly, but the plate of one dish was not preheated and was relatively cold, which accelerated the cooling of the food. We were offered hot sauce here, but it was only served lukewarm. The venison goulash was ok, but the Brussels sprouts were a bit overcooked. Unfortunately the price/performance ratio wasn't right here. The service is nice, but inattentive. When the food was served, a drink was already empty and no one asked for it. I had to go to the counter to order. We sat upstairs and were the only guests there, which was probably one of the reasons for the lack of service. The ambience is quite nice, but narrow and low ceilings (upper floor), which is just the way things are in rustic buildings and you have to like it. The music was annoyingly loud, but was turned down at our request. Unfortunately, our last impression was very average. In any case, this restaurant is no longer on our short list.

This was perfect. The village, the place, the beer, the food, the service, the atmosphere. I am a professional chef and have worked in hospitality for 37 years. We discovered this as a “maybe they have good schnitzel” opportunity on a long drive home from France to Amsterdam. Everything was perfect. After I sent a reservation request online, an automatic response came that they were reviewing the request. Nothing more came. We still tried our luck, but when we arrived we were not very polite and very briefly told that we had to wait for an answer. In addition, the restaurant is already fully occupied and requests are only checked by the boss. That was the end of the matter and we stood in the guest room for a short moment, relatively unnoticed; we took this as an invitation to leave. The problem was not that the restaurant was full, but rather the unprofessionally organized reservation process and the less than friendly treatment in the dining room. A timely cancellation would have been completely fine. We then found a very good alternative where we were treated very courteously even without a reservation.

I was there with a larger group from a professional context. The atmosphere is rustic and typically German. However, it is also narrow and, due to the low ceiling, it is both far too loud and somewhat impractical even for smaller people. The service is nice and quick. The food was mixed. I had a Jägerschnitzel with fried potatoes and salad. The salad was unremarkable/okay and the fried potatoes were pretty good, as was the sauce. I found the meat itself hard and too dry. Another problem with the food was the price to quantity ratio. When you look at the prices, you think it's fair compared to other restaurants. However, the portions, including those of others at the table, seem relatively small to me. You can do it that way and then nobody will leave anything left, but the price has to be lower than elsewhere. I also drank a cappuccino, which was okay, and some water.

Today we were with several people in the Burgkeller Essen. The first impression was comfortable, no question.. But at second glance... toilets really terrible... dirty, cold and without any "flair"!! Toilets are the flagship!! Tablecloth on the table the wrong way round! Poinsettias on the table have lost their leaves and flowers. Dust webs on the ceilings everywhere. The staff was completely understaffed and not really friendly. The food was good so far. It's a shame that this actually cozy location isn't run more lovingly. Pay a little more attention to the details!

Ich habe in einer Gaststätte selten so gut gegessen. Da stimmte einfach alles! Wir waren da mit ca. 20 Personen, plus die, die eh schon dort waren, essen. Das Restaurant war also so gut wie voll, aber von Stress keine Spur. Jeder Tisch bekam gleichzeitig das Essen serviert. Der Service war zuvorkommend und fragte zwischendurch immer wieder nach unseren Getränkewünschen. Einige von uns brauchten noch etwas mehr Soße und diese wurde sofort, ohne Mehrkosten, gebracht. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist für diese bodenständige Küche unschlagbar. Wenn ich das nächste mal in dieser Gegend bin, ist diese Gaststätte meine 1. Wahl für ein leckeres Essen. Aber geht selber hin und überzeugt euch selber von der Qualität des Essens. Guten Appetit!

So the food and ambience aren't bad, but if you want to be ripped off when it comes to drinks, this is the place to go. If you simply want to pay more unnecessarily, you've come to the right place. When it was said that I was at 40 shorts I thought to myself "do I want to fuck myself up?". When the waiter said I had reached 40 shorts and I insisted, I thought to myself "of course I'll pay but that was the last time I'd come here!!!"

The toilet is located at the bottom of the stairs.

Spontan entschlossen wir uns nicht nur zu einem Besuch der Altstadt, sondern auch zum Besuch dieses mittelalterlichen Restaurant ; Wenige kleine Fenster, sehr niedrige Decken, kleine Stufen in 1 OG, leckere Gerichte mit Fleisch aus der Pfanne und im 1 OG eine junge freundliche Dame die trotz einer langen Wartezeit freundlich und kommunikativ war ... Das Essen war auch sehr lecker ! JA, wir kommen wieder.

We went to the Burgkeller for the first time on the recommendation of our brother-in-law and were thrilled. The food was really delicious and lovingly prepared. The atmosphere is very cozy and authentic. I particularly liked the baked ice cream. We will definitely come back on our next visit from Düsseldorf.

Das Essen war okay. Positiv ist das durchgehend warme Küche angeboten wurde. Im Lokal fragt man sich schon ob die ganzen Spinnweben als Dekoration gedacht sind oder einfach schon länger nicht sauber gemacht wurde. Das Personal war weder freundlich noch aufmerksam.

Reservation was lost. Wasn't that great. We had to go up the stairs to the next building even though our sister-in-law can't walk well. Despite demand. And a little eye-catching decoration on the plate goes a long way.

We arrived in Limburg today for a short vacation and noticed the castle cellar while walking through the city center. Quaint half-timbered house, very friendly staff and delicious food, what more could you want! The beetroot carpaccio with buffalo mozzarella was very tasty and highly recommended! The dark cellar beer is also great. We had a lovely evening here, thank you!
