Garip´s Original Restaurant in Kiel

The doner kebabs, fries, and vegan dishes are delicious. The seating area is newly renovated and unparalleled in Kiel—you won't find anything like it. The bread is homemade—very good! I come here often for takeout or to eat in, and it's always busy. That means all the ingredients are incredibly fresh because they haven't been sitting around all day.

We've been going there at least twice a month, but when the owner isn't there, hygiene and service suffer. The food is always great, but today it was really unappetizing: One employee coughed constantly while preparing the food. Another ate behind the counter between serving customers. Worst of all, though, was the employee shaping the bread, who kept scratching his arm with the dough scraper 🤢. That's completely unacceptable and can't be compensated for by good service. The hygiene is questionable.

Good portions, clean, service okay. But the meat? Well, the quality is definitely not there.

The dining area is really lovely after the renovation. The only remaining drawback: the restrooms 🤷🏼‍♀️ - hopefully that will be addressed soon... 🙏🏼 Nevertheless, 5 stars, because the food is delicious, the price/performance ratio is perfectly fine, and the service is very friendly and welcoming.

Great value and super delicious! Whenever I'm in the area, I have to eat there 😊 I especially recommend the vegan options and the fries. The only downside is that card payments only work for orders over €10. But once you know that, it's not a problem.

His uninhibited snacking—with his fingers to and from his mouth—while filling the plates doesn't go down well with every guest, especially when he's working behind the counter and also serving guests?? That's a real no-go for many!! And for you?

Garip's almost always works. Sometimes the guys are exhausted after a hard day, but that's understandable given the workload.

I lived right around the corner a few years ago, so I absolutely had to stop by again on vacation. The kebab was and still is the best I've ever had. I highly recommend it with both the meat and the seitan. Everything's fresh. Friendly staff. I'm always happy to come back!

Even if the kebabs taste very good, it's not okay that you have to repeat your order three times, then have to wait an extra long time because apparently fellow countrymen/friends are given priority, and then you're asked: What did you want again? 🤦🏼‍♀️

Very tasty, I can only recommend it; it's always fresh. The staff is very nice and always friendly. The atmosphere is just like a fast-food restaurant, so you can't complain about that, and it's included in my star rating. All in all, a great place!

Simply great, very clean, modern shop, bright, and a great atmosphere. I was there at lunchtime, so the bread was freshly baked, straight from the oven. Great meat, great toppings, super satisfied, I can only recommend it!

Unfortunately, the taste and price aren't great. The only really good thing about Garips is that they have long opening hours. But during the day, I'd choose a different place.

Homemade bread, portions that not everyone can handle. Delicious meat, fresh salad. The sauces aren't my thing, and the interior has seen better days, but it was the biggest kebab I've ever eaten in my 43 years.

For me it's still the best kebab in Kiel... I find the exaggerated reviews, some of them regarding hygiene, superfluous... it's a snack bar and not a hospital canteen... I'm annoyed by wearing plastic gloves at the bakery... I'll be happy to come back

Was a customer there today for the first and probably last time. Hygiene seems to be a foreign concept here: plates are left unprotected on the counter, food is served on the counter shelf without gloves, money and food pass through the same hand without gloves. Friends and acquaintances have priority, so the food from the customer who has just been served can get cold on the stone counter so that special requests from the friend can be fulfilled out of turn. Card payment only from 10€ - a rogue who thinks evil when you need a lot of cash... However, at almost every bakery you can pay for your rolls with a card. 👎🏼

Been here a few times. Doner is ok. Meat is a little dry in places. The sauces are standard ready-made sauces that are also available elsewhere. Sometimes the kebab was so full that the bread tore. All in all, good average.

Today I had the pleasure of enjoying a kebab that was convincing in every respect. The meat was perfectly seasoned and juicy, the sauce harmonized perfectly with the fresh ingredients, and the bread was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside - exactly how it should be. Every bite was a delight and the portion was more than filling. A kebab as it should be: fresh, hearty and simply delicious. Definitely worth recommending! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Food is great. But in my opinion it's not possible to work on everything without gloves. This is super gross. Anyone who works with food and serves customers should wear gloves. Too bad.

We ordered kebab. Since it was very crowded, everything was mixed up. Nobody knew what to do. Our order ended up being forgotten. After asking, we were given two kebabs "quickly" that had already been packaged and lying on the counter for some time. Since we no longer knew what was inside, two of the employees started digging around in it with their fingers. That was really disgusting. Since we had already waited so long, we were too perplexed to complain. When we were outside, we noticed that the kebabs were cold and completely soggy. Not possible to eat them. So they went straight into the bin. For us it was the last time "Garips".

Highly recommended. The price-performance ratio is very good. The portions are large and relatively inexpensive compared to other restaurants. Orders are only available for takeout or eat-in. Even when it's busy, it's quick to receive your order.

Actually a great shop, super nice workers and good food, but the taste and quality often weaken, hope you can get that under control, that would be a shame. 11.6.24 Addendum, I really have to say the kebab has deteriorated a lot, smaller, less in it and hardly a taste in terms of taste....... too expensive for what you get, very dirty in the eating area and some employees very unkempt unfortunately.

Here you can get super tasty, juicy kebab, which is generously topped and large. The price is very fair. Always happy to come back.

Hello everyone and attention ⚠️ I went today at 9:45 p.m. and bought a kebab with everything, but unfortunately It was the worst of the kebabs. The meat was in a container, briefly warmed up and tasted soggy, barely fried, almost raw... kind of old... just disgusting. The kebab had very little meat and salad, but I asked the young man, the kebab is not good and very little, but he told me. That's all! You can also look at the pictures.

Kiel is blessed with a kebab shop that does not participate in shrik-flation. For €9.30 you get a Dürüm that is worthy of being called that. Price performance is completely right, only the sauces could use a little more spice, then it's a smooth 10/10.

I think the kebabs here are some of the best in Kiel. A large selection and variants. I think it's particularly good that I also have a small version of everything if you're not completely starving.

Probably one of the best kebab's in town. Price and value are good. You will pay around 8-9€ for a kebab with a drink.

Was here today for the first time (and definitely not the last time). My Seitan Kebab was not only a reasonable size, but was also properly filled with Seitan. The vegetables were fresh and crunchy and I was really full. :) The store was a bit hectic at the moment, but the employees were friendly. The waiting time was still okay. All around great!

The prices are far too high for the amount of minced meat that the skewer obviously had. I also felt stressed because I didn't know what I wanted and it seemed like I didn't know empathy. I would have liked to have been treated in a friendlier manner, no, no schmoozing, just neutral, at eye level. I'm sure that the kebab shop had a completely different quality back then, so I would politely say - it's sad guys.

As soon as your foot touches the doorstep you are literally shouted at what you want. If you say that you need a moment to decide, 2 seconds later you will be stressed again to finally order. The same every time. Most stressful kebab in Kiel. The kebab meat looks more like a rotisserie than a kebab. I would like the employees to wash their hands more often. Prices above average.

For me personally, it's the only kebab shop in Kiel where you can expect and get good quality!
