Garchinger Augustiner in Garching b.München

We were only in the bar for drinks, but that didn't matter. We received very friendly service, which led to us ordering a second and third drink.

"One sentence - freely quoted - and yet, like few others, it aptly sums up the unmistakable atmosphere of the Garching Augustiner in the former servants' quarters. After all, it's the little things in life that become something great just outside Munich" - the sentence on the website! Unfortunately, we (15 guests) had to leave a table on March 19th, which we had reserved long in advance (January 23rd), and which we had received written confirmation of starting at 3 p.m. with no time limit, at 6 p.m. without prior notice, as other guests had obviously also reserved. Unfortunately, we were only informed of this shortly before 6 p.m., and after we didn't pay immediately, we were vehemently told to please leave now. Although we were perfectly normal guests, with nothing unusual, we were practically kicked out. So much for "Great things just outside Munich." That was a lack of foresight and consideration. Simply sublime! This was our second time there (although the first time there were only eight of us) and we won't bother these hosts again, that's for sure.

The tomato sauce for the shashlik wasn't right. The meat wasn't juicy.

Gefüllte Kalbsbrust : Teller kalt,Kartoffelsalat kalt sowie grob.Die Füllung der Brust war hart und schmeckte nicht.Die Sosse war zu wenig.Es ergab kein stimmiges Gericht,da Teile kalt,die Brust lauwarm...Alles in Allem enttäuscht. Jo Schorle....Wasserschorle!

Ein sehr schönes, authentisches, bayerisches Lokal. Ein ehrliche Küche und super leckeres Bier. Wir wurden sehr aufmerksam und perfekt bedient. Beim nächsten Aufenthalt in Garching kommen wir bestimmt wieder

The food is ok but the service is terrible! After we entered, the waiters completely ignored us. Even if we took the initiative to say hello to them, they had no response. Throughout the entire meal, the service was indifferent and unenthusiastic. What’s even more outrageous is that at the end of the check, they even asked us for a tip! With this level of service, you still have the nerve to ask for a tip? It's so outrageous. It is highly not recommended for foreigners to come here, the experience is too bad! The food was okay, but the service was terrible! When we entered, the staff completely ignored us. Even when we greeted them, they didn’t respond at all. Throughout the entire meal, their attitude was cold and indifferent. Das Essen war in Ordnung, service war schrecklich! Als wir herekamen, wurden wir von den Mitarbeitern komplett ignoriert. Schlimmste? Am Ende wollten sie sogar Trinkgeld!

A notice! The flyer has now been removed! It used to be a regular bar....but since the landlord basically called me a Nazi with a sign in the price shop window....it really annoys me that I recently celebrated my birthday there for 1000 euros....the money of a "Nazi" is good then...thank you, but no thanks

Quite noise place with good food and good service

Very crowded and therefore quite loud on a Monday evening. Cozy is different, furnishings are quite cool. Food ok, red cabbage very over-seasoned with cloves or something, I couldn't finish it :/ Dumplings quite compact, duck good, sauce very thin.

Excellent service, very friendly staff, delicious beer straight from the wooden barrel and very tasty food. Be sure to reserve as it is almost always full. Small parking lot available. Clean toilets. The price is a bit high.

Good Bavarian-Austrian cuisine with friendly, competent service. The hearty dishes were completely delicious and worth 5 stars. Unfortunately, the Kaiserschmarrn was not freshly prepared, hence the 4 stars.

Despite the house being fully booked, we got a place after a previous telephone inquiry. We were simply sat at the table with other people. No problem! The service was on point, very friendly. We ordered 3 courses and drinks (leaving quite a bit of money). The service was absolutely on point and the food was delicious. As has been our tradition for over 20 years (previously with our children to pass the waiting time, now just for ourselves) we played cards while we waited for the food. Here, however, we were FORBIDDEN to do so. Lack of understanding from everyone around us. We were told to eat here quickly and then leave. Don't linger! We didn't even plan to do that! We didn't even know whether it was north, south, east or west. The hosts everywhere thought it was great, no screaming kids and no boredom. Really loud and shouting football fans don't bother anyone here. At the end we asked again in a friendly manner. Domestic law was invoked, but this did not answer our question. Would you rather stare at your cell phone all the time? Too bad! We don't go here anymore.

We spontaneously made a reservation on the same day and got a table for 4 people. The service was great and very nice and accommodating. The food was super tasty and the portion was large enough. We would eat there again at any time!

Der reservierte Tisch war nicht verfügbar und wir mussten uns zu anderen Personen an den Tisch setzen. Nicht schlimm, aber wenn man extra reserviert erwarte ich auch einen freien Tisch.

Ich hatte einen Tisch für 4 Personen um 18:30 Uhr reserviert. Da wir bereit einige Minuten früher ankamen, haben wir dies freundlicherweise vorher telefonisch abgeklärt. Dies war auch kein Problem und uns wurde freundlich mitgeteilt, dass wir gerne früher kommen dürfen. Uns bediente dann ein kräftig stämmiger Mann mit einem nicht deutschen Akzent. Er war auch am Anfang sehr freundlich, da das Wirtshaus noch nicht voll war. Je voller es allerdings wurde desto hektischer und ungehaltener wurde er.  Man hat bei der Getränkebestellung freundlich gefragt ob es ein Kirsch-Bananensaft gab, da wir keine Getränkekarte bekommen haben. Hier wurde schon auf eine pampige Art gesagt, dass man sowas nicht habe. Auch im weiteren Verlauf des Abends wurde es nicht besser. Man wollte nach dem Hauptgang noch etwas essen und wir haben noch eine Portion Leberkas bestellt. Dieser war leider aus, was aber kein Problem war. Man schaut kurz nochmal in die Karte, was dem Kellner zu lange gedauert hatte und wir bekamen die Aussage: „Geht das nicht ein wenig schneller? Ich arbeite hier nicht auf Zeit sondern auf Umsatz!“ Hier hätte es uns eigentlich schon reichen müssen. Aber wir kennen ja die Bayerische Mentalität. Es gab also doch noch einen Nachtisch. Irgendwann, wollten wir dann aber doch die Rechnung haben. Der Kellner kam und legte uns die Rechnung über 144,50€ hin. Wir überlegten kurz und ich meinte darauf: „Mach 150€ und dann passt das.“ Anscheinend hat das dem Kellner wiederum nicht gefallen und meinte „mach 10% dann bist du bei 160€!“ Das hat uns in dem Moment so geschockt, dass wir ihm nix gegeben haben. Wollte er auch dann nicht mehr. Als er allerdings gegangen ist bekamen wir noch folgend Satz hinterher geschmettert: „wenn du das nächste mal kommst und ich bin da, bekommst du keinen Tisch mehr von mir!“ Sehr freundlicher und gelungener Abend. Das nächste mal schauen wir uns allerdings mal nach einem anderen Lokal um.

Everything OK, food OK but nothing special. Prices a bit exaggerated for what you get. But what bothered me most was that everything was so cramped table to table. If the table next to you gets up, you have to stop your meal so that it can go between the tables. Sorry, that's not possible.

Das Augustiner ist eine solide deutsche Wirtsstube wie man sie oft in Bayern findet. Sehr gute Deutsche Küche, egal ob Suppe, Ochsenbäckchen, Schweinebraten, Ente oder Gulasch alles war hervorragend. Mit 40-45 € für Suppe, Hauptgericht, Degistif und Bier geht der Preis absolut in Ordnung. Sehr nettes zuvorkommendes Personal.

our absolute favorite Augustinian. A consistently fantastic kitchen and staff for years. In the evening there is light beer from the Augustinian wooden barrel. the menu is consistently very good. There are also specials.

Wir würden einfach nur an einen Tisch gesetzt und fühlten uns wie eingepferchte Tiere. Service 6. So schlecht sind wir noch nie behandelt worden.

We ate at the Augustiner on December 20th, 2024 during the Bundesliga game. I had the onion roast from the sirloin of beef, I can't remember such a perfectly fried piece of meat in a restaurant. Absolutely great and definitely justifies the price.

We called them at 21:40 to ask if the kitchen was still open and when they would close. The guy on the phone said the kitchen closes at 22. We arrived at 21:50, and they told us their kitchen was closed... what a waste of time, and the staff on the phone and when we arrived were super unfriendly because god forbid we want to eat this 'late.'

Super delicious food and of course a great beer. The prices are completely reasonable and the service is super nice and quick - even when there are a lot of guests present. Also suitable for vegetarians.

AS ALWAYS worth a visit. VERY good Bavarian cuisine and attentive service. When it comes to vegetarian dishes, a change every now and then wouldn't be a bad idea.

Simply a great business in the center of Garching. Great service, simply fantastic food in a great atmosphere! Despite the restaurant being almost fully booked, a cozy corner was found, thank you again at any time!

A little old. The food was okay, with spaetzle as a side dish you could expect homemade ones. The breading of the Munich schnitzel came off straight away and there was no taste of fresh horseradish at all. The Kaiserschmarrn, on the other hand, was great, and the nougat dumplings were also ready. Overall, it's rather expensive and unfortunately not everything is fresh or homemade - a shame

Wie immer ein Genuß - sind sehr häufig vor Bayern Spielen da. Ja es ist immer gut voll und auch sehr laut und der Service ist immer unter Vollgas. Diesmal war es aber ein wenig langsamer als gewohnt - meine Suppe vor der 1. Hoibe war mir neu. Daher diesmal einen Stern Abzug. Sonst aber wie immer alles TOP und das Essen wie immer guad.

Wir waren nicht zum ersten mal dort und waren ehrlich überrascht über den kräftigen Preisanstieg. Das Essen selbst war Standard, auf eventuelle Unverträglichkeiten wurde nicht eingegangen. Trotz Reservierung sassen wir nicht im Restaurantbereich an einem hohen Tisch, was in Ordnung war, allerdings war der Geräuschpegel/die Akkustik sehr schlecht, so dass man sich nur mit Mühe unterhalten konnte. Auch war unser Tisch gar nicht beleuchtet, so dass wir praktisch im Dunkeln saßen. Bedienung war gut. Alles in allem doch etwas enttäuschend.

The food was good, home-style and the service was very accommodating, attentive and very friendly. Unfortunately, the ambience wasn't that good because people were crammed together and it was extremely loud. If you wanted to have a conversation, the noise level was extreme

I don’t think I’ve had a work trip to Garching that hasn’t involved a trip to the Augustiner. On the latest occasion the place was full of Bayern fans so we ate outside and the waiter let us know as soon as there was space inside. The variety of food is great and always some tasty veggie options. The service is very Bavarian - straight forward and efficient. Don’t expect pleasantries or small talk as there’s no time for that. But you’ll get your food fairly quickly and beer on tap!
