Gao Kitchen in Hamburg

One of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants in Hamburg! Service is very friendly and food always in good portions and very tasty. I’ve had several of their dishes and all of them have been delicious. Prices are fine and the atmosphere of the place is relaxed. Only downside is only cash or EC Card, which is very unfortunate for people who avoid cash or don’t have a German EC card.

I got sticky rice with mango to take away because I actually love it. Unfortunately the green glutinous rice was inedible. It was a lump of rice that you couldn't break apart with a fork. I called the restaurant and complained, the waiter said it might help to put the rice in the microwave again. Didn't do anything.

The competition in the “Long Row” is fierce and the GOA can hold its own. A Vietnamese restaurant with good, fast and friendly service, tasty food in the medium price range. The ambience could be a little more comfortable and the half-open kitchen could look a little tidier. The toilet in the basement was clean. The path there was dark and with a lot of abandoned things, it seemed a bit bumpy. In short, some fresh paint and a basic cleaning certainly wouldn't hurt. You could pay with an EC card, among other things!

Super tasty, very nice service. Even without a reservation you were lucky, it is recommended to reserve.

A small, wonderful restaurant in St. Georg with very authentic Asian food at fair prices. We can recommend the Vit Papaya and the grilled vegetables with chicken. Really delicious!

This is our fourth time in this nice little restaurant and we were not disappointed. If the weather permits, the entire front can be opened. There is also seating outside. Our baked large spring rolls with scampi were very tasty together with the special sauce. Likewise the fried vegetables with the shrimps or the terrine of rice noodle soup with vegetables and shrimps that I ordered. There are also homemade lemonades, cocktails and various beers on tap. The nice, quick service ladies are motivated without seeming intrusive. We like it here, we'll be back 👍

Wir sind jetzt zum 4. Mal in diesem netten kleinen Restaurant und wurden nicht enttäuscht. Wenn es das Wetter erlaubt, kann die gesamte vordere Front geöffnet werden. Draußen gibt es ebenfalls Sitzplätze. Unsere gebackenen großen Frühlingsrollen mit Scampis waren zusammen mit der speziellen Soße sehr schmackhaft. Ebenso das gebratene Gemüse mit den Garnelen oder die bestellte Terrine Reisnudelsuppe mit Gemüse und Garnelen. Außerdem gibt es selbstgemachte Limonaden, Cocktails oder verschiedene Biere vom Fass. Die netten flinken Damen vom Service sind motiviert ohne aufdringlich zu wirken. Uns gefällt es hier, wir kommen wieder 👍

A fantastic Asian restaurant in the heart of the busy street offering incredibly delicious food and friendly service. It's always busy and reservations are a must! The menu offers a wide range of authentic dishes, including meat, seafood and tofu options. The sushi and cocktails are also top notch! 🔥

We were there late on a Sunday. 2x Pho soup with chicken. The Pho soup was very tasty but the chicken was very, very dry (microwave?) and definitely not freshly prepared. Would go again but stay away from the chicken. No credit cards accepted, but Paypal is possible.

Lovey dining experience on the Lange Reihe with relaxing atmosphere and large doors opening out to the street. Chairs were comfy and bathrooms were very clean. Super friendly staff and great food.

A delight. The food is exquisite, I have rarely eaten Asian food so well. Although the price may seem expensive to me, the sake lachs were extremely generous in terms of quantity, which perfectly compensated for the price, not to mention the taste which would be enough on its own. Whether it’s the starters, main courses or desserts, it’s flawless. In addition, the service is fast and the servers are friendly and attentive. In conclusion, go for it, it’s pure pleasure.

Fun Fun Fun! The food tastes fantastic, is fast, reliable and convenient. The location is great, surrounded by numerous other restaurants and bars.

We were there late afternoon so it wasn't a problem getting a seat without a reservation. The service was very friendly, quick and accommodating. We shared two baked spring rolls as a starter, which were very tasty and had nothing in common with Chinese spring rolls. The pho with beef was classic with the familiar herbs and sprouts, the pho with tofu was a surprise with additional (Asian) vegetable additions. Both soups were aromatic and served with lime and pickled garlic. I would have been happy if there had also been hoysin sauce for seasoning. The two cups of tea (mint and lemongrass) were also very good. The price-performance ratio was very good, but I don't find it pleasant that you can only pay in cash and don't get a receipt without asking. Nevertheless, all in all it was a successful early dinner.

We ordered sushi there, it was tasty but not particularly great. The cocktails were really amazing. The service was nice, but unfortunately something went wrong with our order, but the waiter was still super nice and apologized for it - it didn't bother us, but maybe we can take another look at the organization and see what we can improve there. I would have liked to have had clear signs indicating which payment methods were accepted, we were only able to pay afterwards because I was the only one with a PayPal account.

The best Vietnamese food in Hamburg! There are authentic dishes (not necessarily spicy) in a relaxed atmosphere. I could eat my way through the entire menu here! The food is good value, even if the drinks are a bit pricey. All in all, I can only recommend it

The food was at best average. Greasy nems and processed chicken in the Phô. Most unbelievable was the way all of the staff just sat down at a table to eat a huge meal and watch tv. Of course the workers have to eat but is the time when there are 5 tables of people waiting? A lot of people just want a quick meal and in their way! Complained to them and they become abusive. Why not close for half an hour instead of leaving some of the customers with empty plates and glasses and others with no meals and drink? Rude and uncivilised behaviour.

Unfortunately I was very disappointed. Heard a lot of good things, but food was poured with water even though we were certain that it should be significantly less spicy.

Unfortunately, absolute disappointment. I asked several times that the food was not spicy or slightly spicy. Instead I got a super spicy dish that my companion couldn't eat either. Hot water was then simply poured onto the dish and brought back carelessly!!! In addition, very, very loud atmosphere. I will definitely never enter this store again. They didn't even accommodate us in terms of price. Never again!

A wonderful place. Offers authentic Vietnamese cuisine in a pleasant ambience. The dishes are delicious and the staff is prompt and friendly. This was my first time trying eel in a sushi roll and it was fantastic.

During our visit to Hamburg we stayed in Sankt Georg and came across GAO! After our first food order, we came back twice more to enjoy the delicious food! A five-star experience that we will definitely repeat on our next visit to Hamburg!

I enjoyed a wonderfully flavorful mango, peanut and cilantro salad that made my entire meal delicious. I couldn't help but smile throughout the entire meal because it was so delicious. The waitress was exceptionally friendly and accommodating, which added to the pleasant experience. The ambience was also very pleasant and provided a nice setting for the meal. I definitely plan on coming back to try more of the menu and would highly recommend it to others too.

The range of food and drinks is varied and covers a wide range of tastes. The service is pleasant and the atmosphere is also decent. Overall there is nothing that particularly bothers me and I would definitely come back if possible.

Small, very authentic Vietnamese restaurant. The ambience was rather simple, but the food was extremely tasty and the Vietnamese offering was very authentic and extremely tasty! We thought a Vietnamese meal would be very tasty. We "landed" in the Gao Kitchen restaurant on the Lange reihe. The tables are placed close together and were almost all occupied. Fortunately there was still a spot. The service was smooth and professional. The waitress said that it was not possible to pay by card, you could only use cash pay...... strange for such a well-run restaurant. The meal was fine, salmon with rice and stir-fried vegetables with a teriyaki sauce.

Hello and hello! We arrived today from Salzburg/Austria on a city tour. We felt like a little something to eat. The receptionist directed us to this street. We chose Gao Kitchen. I ordered a curry coconut soup with vegetables and tofu and a mint licorice tea. My husband a beer and California Susi. Everything excellent! If it hadn't been so late in the evening, I would have had something bigger to eat

The small restaurant Gao Kitchen is one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in Hamburg. So far all the dishes have been excellent and recommended. The only thing that isn't quite as pleasant is the noise in the restaurant, but it adds to the Vietnam feeling; it was always a bit louder in the street kitchens there.

So the service was really very friendly, you can't say anything about that! However, I was disappointed with the food... 80% rice noodles and only 20% vegetables/tofu in a very unspectacular sauce. Unfortunately nothing special. In my opinion, value for money is not right.

Overall it was a nice place to enjoy Vietnamese food, that was very delicious. The service team was also very attentive and friendly. However, you can’t pay with card there which is very annoying actually, especially considering the somewhat higher prices.

Honestly the fact that in XXI century restaurants don’t accept cards is a sad joke. One star for the motivation to change.

Great atmosphere, friendly staff and delicious food. I would like to highlight the great service. I forgot to say when I ordered that I have a peanut allergy. The food was politely taken back and a version without peanuts was brought.

Reservations are also important here. The restaurant is small, the noise level is very high and it is very warm. That said in advance, but that didn't bother us. The service is very friendly and explained a lot to us. The food is simply delicious, it tastes of Asia, of fresh ingredients, very good spices and if you don't like it spicy enough, the bottle is on the table. And it's freshly prepared, so it takes a little while until it arrives, but that's very important, fresh food takes time, so you're happy to wait. When we are back in Hamburg we will eat here again, thanks to the Gao Kitchen team, it was a lovely evening.

Good lunch spot. They have good Phos but also good lunch menu options that are less expensive. 4 stars from my side because it’s CASH ONLY. I would probably go here more often for lunches if I could pay with card as well.

The meal was truly a meal: delicious starters and a duck main course at its finest. The only note: the toilets are downstairs, weak lighting, only cold water, soap dispensers in the contact area dirty, no towels.

I was there today with a friend and we both said never again. The service was subpar and the food tasted like there was a whole bottle of Maggi in it. (I had the chicken) The friend had sushi and miso soup and was happier and that's why two stars!

Asiatisches Restaurant mit gutem Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Wir haben thailändische, chinesische und japanische Speisen gefunden. Alles, was wir hatten hat gut geschmeckt. Style ist eher einfach, aber nicht unangenehm. Leider gibt's nur Barzahlung, das ist ein echter Nachteil.

Wir haben hier sehr lecker gegessen und wurden freundlich bedient. Leider ist keine Kartenzahlung möglich. Da es ein kleiner Laden ist ist es relativ laut aber das hat uns nicht gestört. Vorher reservieren ist empfehlenswert.

Super leckeres Essen und ich gehe immer wieder gern hin! Einen Stern Abzug bekommen sie für mich dadurch dass man leider nicht mit Karte zahlen kann. Mir ist bewusst, dass das in Deutschland generell bei einigen Restaurants noch so ist, jedoch sollte die Möglichkeit Mitten in der Großstadt in einem Restaurant mit Karte zu zahlen mittlerweile gegeben sein.

Gutes Essen und freundliche Bedienung

Der Service ist freundlich und aufmerksam. Die Speisekarte ist nicht allzu umfangreich. Was für mich immer ein gutes Zeichen ist. Denn das was dort angepriesen wird sollten sie dann auch können und das passt hier im Restaurant auf alle Fälle. Besonders geschmeckt hat mir der japanische Rettich im Sushi. Das Hauptgericht war zwar als scharf gekennzeichnet, hätte aber schärfer sein können. Das werde ich bei der Bestellung nächstes mal berücksichtigen. Die Schärfe war doch sehr auf den deutschen Gaumen reduziert. :-D

Gutes Essen und guter Service. Die Zubereitung ging ziemlich flott. Die Ente war geschmacklich super, dass Curry Gericht war leider etwas unausgeglichen vom Geschmack, ansonsten noch gut. Die Sommerrollen waren ok.

Haben spontan zu viert einen Platz bekommen, war zwar eng, aber super netter Service und sehr leckeres Essen. Kann man nur empfehlen 👍
