Update March 2025: Lunch on March 19th Had here and waited almost 45 minutes for the main course after the starter. No apology or admission that you forgot something. Disappointing. The fact remains that the location is a dream and the service can be improved very much. ---- The Gandl is wonderful if you want to spend a warm summer evening outside on Sankt-Anna-Platz. You don't go here for the amazing food. This isn't bad, but it doesn't live up to expectations given the higher quality dishes and the price charged. The sirloin of beef was a bit too tough, the side dishes with the fish were disappointing (both around 30 euros). I've already had the piece of herb butter in canteens. At lunchtime, however, chanterelle soup, lasagne and gnocchi are okay for the money. Service is friendly and reserved, but could be a little more attentive. We live a 3-minute walk away and really like Sankt-Anna-Platz. Tip as a better culinary alternative: The Louis Cousine on Tattenbachstrasse.

We had the five-course menu with wine accompaniment, which was comparatively cheap at €79. (it was a special promotion). The restaurant was fully booked, with an estimated 80 people there. The tables were very narrow. The food was a disappointment from start to finish: the asparagus and goat cream cheese quiche came across like frozen food into which two asparagus tips had been uninspiredly stuck. The pea and tarragon soup was a completely tasteless green mush that couldn't be saved even with lots of salt and pepper. The saffron risotto was so tasteless that we completely finished off the grated Parmesan that was served with it at the table, which unfortunately didn't help either; But at least it tasted like Parmesan. The main course, a flambéed sirloin of beef, consisted of four fairly thin slices on a jus and 5 sugar snap peas without any side dish. The whole thing was then flambéed at the table and tasted essentially like the alcohol used for flambéing. The chef was definitely not in love, we had to add massive amounts of seasoning to all of the dishes. I've eaten better in some canteens. For dessert there was a scoop of ice cream floating in yogurt. At least you didn't have to salt them. The whole thing gave us the impression that a moderately talented chef was trying to act like fine dining. I prefer not to write anything about the wine accompaniment here. This was specified by Rindchens Weinkontor as part of the campaign. Again: for the price of 79 € you certainly can't expect star cuisine and without a large kitchen team it is certainly incredibly difficult to serve the overcrowded restaurant properly in one shift. My wife had been to Gandl once before and said the food was much better there. For me it will definitely be a unique experience. Last but not least: for around 80 people, a single women's and men's toilet is not possible at all. That alone is a reason for me not to go there again.

We were there with a larger group (11 people). This was preceded by a phone call with the restaurant because we had different menu requests and some of us wanted to dine a la carte. During the phone call we were assured that we could book both saddle of venison and black-feathered chicken as a menu, just like eating a la carte. This was very important because some of us had already prepared ourselves for the saddle of venison. We could also decide on the wine accompaniment on site. As a result of this telephone call, the booking was maintained. At first we were told that we had all booked the menu. This was then corrected. Then suddenly there was no saddle of venison and when a large part of the group decided on the menu with black-feathered chicken, they said - there was no black-feathered chicken either. The menu card (with black-feathered chicken) was in front of us in various copies on the table. We felt pretty “cheated” then. The food used to be a lot better. Instead of the black feather chicken there was corn poularde - not particularly juicy. The a la carte orders also didn't cause any enthusiasm, the meat was too tough... It was also clear that the quantities on the menu were unevenly distributed. For example, if there were 2 pear pieces for the starter on one plate, there were 10 on the other. The pieces of meat were different sizes and the amount of side dishes was different. What was particularly noticeable was that some of the plates were not beautifully presented. The components flowed into each other as if the plates were briefly held at an angle. All in all a big disappointment. But the biggest trouble came at the end. In the end we received a huge bill and only through our careful checking did we realize that all menus had been accompanied by wine. In fact, no one had booked wine pairings. The service just said she was surprised at the high bill. Uh, how about... checking the bill before giving it to the guests, how about that? Incidentally, there was no discount for the corn-fed chicken (cheaper than a black-feathered chicken) and no sign of "compensation" for the incorrect billing other than a brief apology. The restaurant itself is very nice, but half of our group sat in the middle aisle, which was very narrow. All!!! complained that the service bumped into their chairs every time they walked past. That stressed them out quite a bit. You have to ask yourself why everything is so narrow that the service has to bump left and right when you walk through. Either way, we all agreed that we would no longer visit the Gandl restaurant.

The problem became apparent with the first course: We had ordered a menu, but while we were enjoying our aperitif, the first course was already served to us - an inappropriate timing. There was no advice from the waitress, she was curt and didn't give the impression that she had much interest in our wishes or questions. Conclusion of the evening: The former charm and quality of the restaurant have been lost. The service is disinterested, the food is okay, but the price-performance ratio is no longer justified.

Unfortunately lost its luster. I knew the restaurant from my time in Munich and had spent many nice evenings there. I was promised a nice evening, good food, nice atmosphere, excellent service. None. As soon as we entered the restaurant we were greeted with an inappropriate comment; we were apparently intruding on a closed event. After no one from the service staff made an effort, I tried to place my reservation. We were then allowed to choose a table. Ordering our drinks proved to be a hassle; the service staff didn't seem to know the range on offer and there were several questions. It was just red or white wine, so nothing crazy. We continued with the ordering of the starter and main course. The goat cheese was very ordinary, but at least warm. The game terrine was carelessly placed on a handful of wilted lettuce. Dressing, none. The main course was fish, cold, the sauce was so tasteless, the wild broccoli was rock hard. Let's get to the deer back. The red cabbage was bitter, cold, and the meat was manageable for the price. The manager then took pity on my complaint; I couldn't see any real approach as a hostess. More annoying than worthy of being a host. Conclusion of the evening: completely overpriced food, actually nice atmosphere, price-performance ratio completely inadequate. Regular customers are courted, otherwise there is a lack of attention from the staff. The only highlight was the one service person who sincerely apologized to us as we left the restaurant. That was definitely our last evening in the Gandl.

This was once a wonderful restaurant, now came the huge disappointment: Service was very nice but I had no idea about serving. A shared starter was carelessly pushed onto the two plates and a salad was tipped over it like rubbish food far below mediocre Sole and sea bream overcooked dry and only a tiny bit. I doubt very much that it was sole. Café miserable, no idea about barista and then the climax when paying There was only an interim receipt and no invoice!!!!! rightly so yawning empty such a disappointment

The Gandl Feinkost food bar is located at St. Anna - Platz 1, in 80538 Munich. This is a good restaurant, with a terrace and fireplace. Italian dishes are served here for lunch and fine French dishes in the evenings. The ambience and atmosphere there is very pleasant. I drank a nice beer there and ate a turbot fillet. Both were very delicious. The staff is very friendly, helpful and very valuable. I would be happy to recommend this excellent address! Small lunch menu from which some things were not available, for example the Parmesan pasta. Ruinart, it says on the map, didn't exist. The alternative, Moet, was warm. My pregnant wife and I were seated at a table by the waitress. After 15 minutes of waiting (without being asked for drinks) we were informed by the same waitress that the place was reserved and that we should please sit outside (at +3.0 degrees) as there were no more seats in the restaurant. We have been guests at Gandl several times in the past and will avoid the restaurant after this extremely unpleasant incident!

Disappointing when you compare it to before. For me and my family, the Gandl has stood for excellent quality and service for many years. We have been here before on special occasions and I have wanted to repeat this experience for many years. However, there is no comparison to before. The ambience is still something very special. However, the food was mediocre and I was annoyed by the service. The sparkling wine seemed stale instead of sparkling, the salad seemed weak instead of crisp. The main courses tasted okay, but nothing more. The portions were small and only enough for seniors or children. The service made me think of a hidden camera episode. The waiters are dressed in casual, in my opinion, inappropriate everyday clothing, no longer in the classic black and white as they used to. You are given a single sheet of paper as a card and when the outside temperature is 0 degrees you can't warm yourself up here, it's far too cold in the room and really uncomfortable. We were constantly served by two waitresses at the same time who did not communicate with each other, so we were constantly asked the same questions. The low point of the service was the mix-up of our desserts with those of the next table, which meant that the next table didn't get their dessert and one of us got the wrong one while the other waited. We were then told twice that we had the dessert from the next table, as if it were our fault. They were two different chocolate cakes, so it would be difficult for us to tell the difference. However, the waiters should be able to do this. But then having the guest blamed several times, again by the two different waitresses one after the other, was quite annoying. Finally, the wrong dessert was brought to the neighboring table and the lady who ordered tried to persuade them to take it because the dessert was almost the same. They then left the restaurant in exasperation. Overall, extremely annoying, especially considering the celebratory occasion for which we visited the restaurant. We probably would have had a better experience in a simple pub. Last but not least, the cappuccino was served so that the saucer was full. A performance on a slap stick level. This means that the Gandl did not live up to its former reputation in terms of food or service, nor did it live up to the designation of a delicatessen. Very unfortunate experience.

Zusammenfassend: Essen hervorragend, Service sehr zuvorkommend und freundlich, aber nicht aufdringlich und im vorderen Teil des Restaurants (am Kamin) schön zu sitzen. Ich verstehe nicht die zT "schlechten" Bewertungen zum Essen. Alle unsere Gerichte mit Vor/Haupt/Nachspeise waren sehr gut. Preislich für das Gebotene absolut ok - lediglich die Flaschenweine sind etwas ambitioniert bepreist.

Lasagne leider kalt, erst nach Nachfrage wurde sie lauwarm aufgewärmt. Geschmacklich in Ordnung aber nicht top. schlechteste Essklasse seit Jahren: wurden mit 5 Personen an einen Vierertisch gesetzt. Das ganze Essen ging über 4 h; beim sogenannten weißen Tomatenschaumsüppchen fehlte sowohl der Geschmack von Tomaten noch Schaum vorhanden. Die Krönung waren dann die Tournedos, die als Roulade serviert wurden und sehr trocken waren, ferner war beim Gemüse lediglich ein Streifen Zucchini auf dem Teller. Im Grunde würde ich gerne 5 Sterne vergeben, aber aufgrund des nur max. handwarmen Cappuccino‘s gibt es von mir eben nur 3 Sterne. Und selbst diese 3 wohlwollende Sterne gibt es nur weil die Mitarbeiterin den bestellten Cappuccino, auf meine Reklamation hin, stornierte. Vielleicht klappt es bei einem zukünftigen Besuch mit den 4 oder 5 Sternen.

Hier wird so gut gekocht, dass ich selbst keine Idee habe, wie ich es auch nur ähnlich hinbekommen könnte. Die Preise sind gehoben (zu zweit mit 3 Gängen Apperitiv und Wein 160 €), das Essen ist hervorragend, die Lage ist super, nur ein paar Klenigkeiten passen dann nicht so recht. Beispiel: Die Tischplatten (draussen) aus rotem Marmor sind schon recht angeschlagen, der Abstand zum Nachbartisch sorgt fast für Tuchfühlung. Für das Brot zum Essen werden 2 € extra berechnet, OK. Es wird unaufgefordert schon mal gebracht und danach auch weiter neues eifrig angedient als das erste leer war. Wegen 2 € pro Körbchen incl. Butter? Im Ernst? Das erste Körbchen ließe sich locker mit rein kalkulieren und man würde ungestört das Essen genießen. der Service hat zum Teil mehr gemenschelt, als seriös perfekt alles abzuwickeln. Mein Tip: sehen Sie über kleine Ungereimtheiten hinweg und genießen Sie eine fast perfekte Zeit in schöner Umgebung und sehr angenehmem Publikum mit sehr gutem Essen. Der Abend hat jedenfalls als echte quality time, meinem Inneren nachhaltig gut getan.

10 jähriges mit meiner Freundin, ein besseres Restaurant hätten wir uns nicht wünschen können. Ein einzigartiges Lokal, wie man heute sagt "vintage" mit Stil, Geschmack, Geschichte und vor allem Seele im schönsten Herz von Lehel. Es war unser erstes Mal dort. Service war super aufmerksam aber immer sehr diskret. Die Karte ist klein, was eigentlich sehr positiv ist. Wir haben Gas gegeben: Vorspeise, Hauptspeise, Desserts & Wein. Alles vom feinsten. Die Zeit verging sehr schnell in diesem wunderbaren warmen und gastfreundlichen Ambiente. Schade war schon um 22 Uhr wegen Corona-Regeln das Lokal verlassen zu müssen. Wir freuen uns aufs nächste Mal vor allem im Sommer draußen auf der St. Anna Platz.

Location is great, there is possibility to both sit indoor and outdoor, staffs are well-tempered and friendly, I’ve just been there once for drink but definitely vome back for having meal there. Indoor is cosy and well-decorated. The prices are costly but it seems that it is worth to try. I’ll absolutely share my meal’s experience.

Alle Gäste sind gleich aber einige Gäste sind gleicher. Als ich vor Ort den reservierten Tisch ansprach, wurde ich kurz darauf auf die heute üblichen Dokumente angesprochen. So ist das heute... Allerdings war das bei meiner Begleitung und einigen anderen Gästen, die später kamen nicht der Fall gewesen. Mir wurde zuerst ein guter Tisch zugewiesen, der mir kurz darauf wieder entzogen wurde und ich musste direkt an der Eingangstür sitzen. Angeblich war der bessere Tisch schon reserviert - für eine Dame mit Hund, die nicht an der Tür sitzen wollte... soso... Im Verlauf der nächsten 1,5 Stunden blieb dieser bessere Tisch allerdings frei und zwar solange bis wir letztendlich das Lokal verließen. Ansonsten guter Service und gutes Essen.

Wir waren jetzt auch nicht so happy. Haben draußen gesessen und die Bedienung hat ewig gebraucht ... für alles. Gläser waren auch angeschlagen ... für gehobene französische Küche haben wir uns mehr erwartet!

The strawberry cake is highly recommended. Eating “normally” is a bit like gambling. (The name says it all: Casino) Either there is something excellent, or it is fish... The sausage salad has received a flood of vinegar. The cucumbers, onions, baby lettuce leaves and cocktail tomatoes actually only taste like vinegar. But the sausage is good again. In the photo you can see the leftover sausage salad.

The salad was 90% arugula and the cashier charged one Patong twice. By noting it, I got the extra payment back.

Very good presentation, charming staff, quiet and elegant atmosphere. Yes indeed; German food. For Spaniards, it is not easy to get used to it, in addition to having to eat little at midday and have a lot for dinner... but it is worth the visit.
