Wenn man hier einen Tisch reserviert, bekommt man einen rundherum gelungen Abend zu akzeptablen Preisen. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Der Fuchsbau ist ein kleiner Familienbetrieb mit dem Herzen an der richtigen Stelle. Das Essen, ganz egal was man hier ist, schmeckt hervorragend. Da stimmt das Preisleistungsverhältnis absolut. Hier werden zum Beispiel Biohähnchen mit frei wählbaren und kombinierbar Gewürzen angeboten. Diese Gewürze werden extra für den Fuchsbau produziert. So steht es zumindestens in der Speisekarte und so schmecken sie auch. Das Restaurant ist mit viel Liebe dekoriert worden und es ist einfach nur gemütlich. Man möchte gar nicht mehr aufstehen. Die Mitarbeiter von der Theke, über den Kellner bis hin zu der Chefetage sind für jede Menge Spaß zu haben. Ich kann die teilweisen schlechten Rezensionen hier nicht nachvollziehen. Vielleicht sollten sich diverse Menschen mal wieder folgenden Satz in Erinnerung rufen: "so wie man in den Wald hineinruft so kommt es auch wieder raus" Ich kann dieses tolle Restaurant mit besten Gewissen weiterempfehlen. Freue mich schon auf den nächsten Besuch. Jetzt kriege ich wieder Hunger. Tip: Unbedingt einige Tage vorher anrufen und einen Tisch reservieren. Dieses Lokal ist sehr oft ausgebucht. Wir hatten viel erwartet und wurden leider enttäuscht. Schön gelegene und stylisch eingerichtete Location und Biergarten. Wie auf der Seite des Betreibers zu lesen dürfen Leute die das Haar in der Suppe suchen nicht kommen. Zu diesen gehöre ich dann wohl demnächst auch. Wir hatten ein 1/2 Hähnchen mit Kraut und eines mit frischen Pommes und zwei Getränke für insgesamt 41€. Das finde ich schon sehr gehoben. Dafür bekamen wir 2x 1/2 Hähnchen aus dem Backofen mit der Klassik Gewürzmischung oben aufgestreut. Das Hähnchen hatte innen null Geschmack und war teilweise trocken (vor allem die Brust). Außen an der Unterseite schon sehr kross (tot gegart). Der Rest ok aber auch nicht mehr. Der Krautsalat schmeckt und sah aus wie der aus dem Eimer den man so kennt. Die Pommes halt normale TK-Pommes (also keine frischen Pommes) mit Pommes-Gewürz. Alles in allem nichts Besonderes und überteuert. Unser Fazit wir kommen nicht wieder.

We have always enjoyed broiler in East Germany. Therefore, we came here with positive expectations. Unfortunately, we were deeply disappointed that half of the chicken was dry as if it had been kept warm for days. A real disgrace, especially considering the rather high price of almost €14. Conclusion: never again, not recommended, a real rip-off when you see the price for performance / quality😠😠

Hello there Been to the Fuchsbau with friends and my little family for a long time today. The ambience was really very nice. The food was very good and really tasty. The service was great and the boss was very nice and always present, as was the rest of the service. What really impressed me was when my son (he's almost four) cut his lip while playing, we were immediately given ice cubes to cool, and when we stood at the bike afterwards they gave us some consolation ice cream for the little one brought out. So, Food was good! Service is okay so far. The boss is totally arrogant and doesn't speak well to children. They wanted to get rid of us quickly and fob us off. We were there with 3 couples and 4 children. That doesn't work at all We wouldn't come back and wouldn't recommend it for families.

Wir haben es auch erlebt, es ist dort schlechter geworden. Das Schnitzel Eugen hatte nicht die Qualität wie früher. Die Hähnchen waren auch nicht mehr wie früher. Um es abzukürzen: wir gehen nicht mehr hin.

We were greeted very unfriendly, the lady at reception wasn't very nice, we wanted to go there for the first time. I won't go there again.

It was another great, fun evening. As always, the welcome was very, very warm. The food, half a chicken and spare ribs were, as always, absolutely delicious. Thanks to the entire Fuchsbau team for the lovely evening with you. We are always happy to come to you.

Unfortunately unfriendly reception. Didn't get a table even though we reserved it. Food ok but not impressive. You don't have to go there again.

Highly recommended! The staff is super friendly and funny, it's fun to eat there. The food was fantastic!!! Simply delicious! And the ambience is beautiful! They played with lights and decorations. Lots of details. The selection of dishes is small but nice, I don't think it always has to be a huge selection because what they have there is great! You get homemade chips before your meal, which were also really tasty! And we were lucky, we and other guests got a small dessert for free, which was also really good! In the pictures I tried to “capture” a bit of the great evening.

Very good food and very well located in the middle of the forest

Was very disappointed. Had reserved a table, only got a table with stools for children and somewhat unstable guests. Of course that didn't work. Unfortunately, the birthday dinner had to be rescheduled at very short notice. It's a shame that the service has deteriorated. We were always happy to come.

We were there with the family at the weekend and even though we had booked a table, they wanted to seat us on bar stools with our 85-year-old mother. After discussion we were given a table with wooden benches, without cushions or backrest. The chicken was dry and extremely small. We were really disappointed, because 17 euros isn't much for a piece of chicken and a side salad. The atmosphere was very hectic, the music was much too loud. The service was good, the young lady tried very hard. Unfortunately we cannot recommend it.

Personal-Bedienung (besonders Männlich) sehr unfreundlich. Eine Platzreservierung wurde nicht berücksichtigt. Auch nachdem man dies erwähnte, wurde man mit dem Hinweis bedacht " wenn es ihnen nicht passt können sie ja gehen" Das schlechteste Essen was wir je hatten, Rippchen zäh und trocken. Das Essen war zu vergleichen mit einer Imbissbude, dafür Preise wie in einem 4 Sterne Restaurant.

I've been to the Fuchsbau a few times, a while ago I happened to be in Hardt and spontaneously wanted to take a 1/2 chicken with me. At the entrance I was asked by a young lady if she could help me. I replied that I would like to take 1/2 chicken with me. Then the owner came, looked at me for a while without saying a word and said that I couldn't have one. At first I thought he was joking... After a while he boredly said that there were reservations and he didn't have 1/2 chicken left. I was perplexed and still thought it was a joke... But it wasn't... That's called hospitality :-(

It is very rare to meet such an arrogant and unpleasant boss. Immediately at the entrance, we just asked for another table, we received a lecture with the words now I'm talking about his seating arrangement and we had to comply with it. This person is absolutely out of place. The food and the service staff, on the other hand, were very good

We actually can't rate the food because we didn't even get that far. Unfortunately we were a little late and this could well be a reason to give the two places to someone else after a few minutes. However, we found the arrogant and didactic manner very outrageous. It's a shame, we were really looking forward to our visit to the Fuchsbau.

There is no delicious chicken anywhere, and the right flavor of spices for everyone. On top of that, we were able to watch a lovely evening of the European Championship 2024 international match live on the television. There was a lot of enthusiasm, including the staff. My friends were all thrilled about the lovely evening. They will definitely come back often. See you then !

I don't want to make everything bad! But on the day we were there nothing was going on. Kentucky fried chicken wouldn't have been worse. You could tell that the chicken was still in the deep fryer (which you wouldn't notice otherwise). Dessert was out even though the sign was only put up 1 hour before. Orders arrived incorrectly or not at all. We're not having a party there anymore!

We were here recently to celebrate a friend's birthday and it was a really lovely evening. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and the team was super friendly. The food? Simply delicious! You can taste that emphasis is placed on good ingredients here. And the round on the house was a nice surprise that you don't get every day. We felt completely comfortable and will definitely come back.

I stopped by around 5:00 p.m. today while on a bike tour and wanted something to drink. A few tables were occupied, most of them were free. No sign closed society. I was intercepted at the entrance by a young lady who asked me if she could help me. I said I would like to have a drink. It was replied that everything was reserved. When I asked and looked over the empty tables whether this was really serious and I wouldn't actually get anything to drink, I was told that it wasn't a joke. I say respect. Gastronomy understood. 👏

We have been here several times. As always, it was very, very tasty. Very clear recommendation.

We wanted to park here, walk our dog and come inside for a drink and some lunch. When we walked towards the woods, the owner immediately asked us, very irritated, how long we were parking there, because it was for guests only. Our German is not the best so we replied with approximately 30 minutes. The owner insisted we couldn't stay for any longer than that. Obviously after this encounter, we decided to take our money elsewhere. Very rude greeting. It was a Monday around 12 PM, there were 4 cars parked there and when we left, there were 3 cars parked. I don't suppose he really had to reserve the spot we were parked in before we would enter the terrace. Cannot say much about the food unfortunately. Based on other reviews, that's excellent. Too bad the owner scared us away immediately.

Yesterday I had dinner there with a few friends and I have to say it was really good👍👍 The service and the food were without exception good. The citizen is nice and juicy and the fries are just totally crispy, just the way you like to eat them. The waitress kept asking if you wanted something to drink, which I actually rarely experience. The prices were also completely reasonable for the quantity and quality. There is nothing to complain about at all. It was a bit too warm for my personal standards, we sat in the winter garden. Which was properly heated. But that's a matter of personal feeling :) And as a tip you should definitely reserve a table😉

Best address in Hardterwald!!! I can definitely recommend the super tasty chicken, schnitzel and burgers. Family-run and simply cozy whether inside or outside. Keep it up dear Fuchsbau team! We are always happy to come to you.

From the outside it's more of a snack house, from the inside it's more like an 80s bistro. Gotta like it, I love it! The food is a little more expensive but definitely worth every penny. I had the Fuchsbau Burger and at the first bite my taste buds exploded. I've had countless burgers in my life but this was by far the best. My companion's schnitzel with Champions Bacon Leek was also incredibly tasty and the fries were an absolute delight. Our waitress was incredibly friendly and service-oriented and made the overall experience a celebration. We were there for the first but definitely not the last time. Thank you for this wonderful evening.

It is a restaurant in the forest accessible via a small road you come to a nice restaurant that becomes busier from 6 o'clock. You can only pay in cash here and reservations are almost necessary, the reason becomes clear when you receive the food, which is really delicious. The service is very good and very friendly, the decoration is very simple and that is what it means. If you are in the area, be sure to stop by here for good, cozy food for a reasonable price in beautiful surroundings. Great

Update: Unfortunately, the delicious wide French fries are no longer available. The chickens are probably no longer the same either. Plus a not insignificant price increase. A pity!!! (The Fuchsbau has been one of our favorite destinations for years. Anyone who likes chicken will be well served here. Reservations are strongly recommended. If you arrive spontaneously, you should expect not to get a seat. Always happy.)

After a long wait we were rewarded with a very good meal. The service was friendly. Our table wasn't that nice, but we were able to eat the chicken without being seen. You have to take advantage of it. We'd love to come back!!!

Super lovely staff, food and ambience great. Unpleasant reaction from the boss... to address an employee directly in the serving area because of a "bad recession" or a complaint from 2 or 3 weeks ago, even though we were sitting there and eating. DEAR boss, in the event of a negative incident, you take this person to the side where no guests notice. Complete misconduct as a boss. Complaints should also be discussed promptly and not after such a long time. There are a lot of guests coming and going during this time. This restaurant survives without this lady who complained. YOU have to stand behind your staff. The girls do a damn good job and unfortunately have to endure every whim of the guests.

Dear Fuchsbau team, thank you very much for the wonderful hours that I was able to spend with my family and friends. We ate our way through the menu. We already knew the chicken 🍗, so we tried the spare ribs and burgers (there's even a vegetarian burger with goat cheese and thin potato pancakes) which we didn't regret. Delicious!! A half-full bowl of coleslaw €4. Tell me, didn't you hear the bang? Every Greek can do this much better. And because of the idyllic ambience in the forest. It was very loud there and anything but idyllic. Afterwards we went to McDonald's to at least get full. We'll never go there again. Then this nasty, arrogant owner doesn't work either. Staff partly snotty and out of place.

There were three of us there, the food was okay, the service was OK and the atmosphere was pleasant. We had burgers, schnitzel and chicken. I was very happy with my chicken, but unfortunately the schnitzel and burger weren't entirely convincing. The waitress was curt and relatively rarely at the table, but was still very polite if you needed something. I didn't find the music in the background unpleasant, of course it was quite difficult to have a conversation at a normal volume, but the table next door couldn't hear what we were saying😉.

Had ordered a table, unfortunately we weren't in the reservation book. The man wanted to sit us at a bar table, but we didn't agree. We had a conversation with (probably the boss) who doesn't even let you get a word in edgewise, everything was done quickly. With the words “you now,” the conversation quickly ended. I have never been so insulted as a guest as I was there. That was the first and last time we were there.

A forest restaurant of a special class. Therefore make reservations during the week. Half chicken is a specialty. But also good salads.

I've been here spontaneously for a long time. It was just great. The food, especially “1/2 chicken” is the house specialty here. But other things are also recommended. My child was also looked after in a very friendly manner. A good address in summer for trips into the forest and then a stop at this pub/restaurant.

Chicken and fries were very good and we'll definitely see us again. The service was also very attentive and always provided the four of us with new drinks. All in all a successful evening with friends.

There is nothing more to promise

Absolute disaster, especially because it was declared child-friendly. Cramped, far too crowded, far too warm (table with fire even though several children were reserved). Much too loud music with a pub feeling. The "children's area" is separated by a door and a joke in terms of what's on offer, it's also right in front of the toilets! There is no changing facility. The food was okay. The chicken is perfectly seasoned, the coleslaw is ready from the bucket. The prices for this are completely excessive.

Gestern waren wir das erste Mal im Fuchsbau, ein nettes Holzgästehaus mitten im Wald, sehr authentisch. Unser Kind hatte die Möglichkeit zu spielen, die Bedienung war sehr aufmerksam und professionell mit einem Lächeln im Gesicht. Jetzt kommen wir zum Highlight: das Essen war wirklich ein Gaumenschmaus. Ich habe mir ein halbes Hähnchen mit Pommes bestellt, meine Frau hat den Fuchsbau Burger genommen (den ich zur Hälfte essen durfte) die Fritten sind ein Traum, sie sind Ultra knusprig, habe ohne Witz noch nie solche Pommes vorher gegessen. Das Hähnchen ist ebenfalls knusprig und innen saftig. Meiner Meinung nach ist das Essen ein Kunstwerk. Klare Empfehlung

Der Name ist Programm, etwas versteckt. Freundliche Bedienung, schneller Service, Preis/ Leistung in Ordnung.

Absolutely fantastic food, Frank and the team do an amazing job of making you welcome. I really enjoy every visit here and just wished that I lived closer.

Einfach tolle Hähnchengerichte, das nächste Hähnchen in der Qualität, knuspige Haut, saftiges aromatische Fleisch gibt es sonst nur noch im Augustiner in der Münchner Lindwurmstraße, leider haben die in München nicht so viele leckere Gewürze und Soßenvarianten, und sind auch echt weit weg. Gut das die Hähnchen sehr scharf, auch für uns Thais lecker sehr scharf sind. Lieben Dank ans ganze Team für die schöne leckere Zeit.

Hähnchen Gerichte wie immer sehr gut, Preis/Leistung ist auch gut.

Der Fuchsbau hat sich in den letzten Jahren leider negativ entwickelt. War er früher noch ein "besonderes" Erlebnis, wohin man Freunde gerne eingeladen hat, wird hier heute leider Gewinnmaximierung betrieben. Man kann tagelang im Voraus reservieren, man bekommt trotzdem einen extrem ungemütlichen "Tisch" mittem im Gang zugewiesen. Widerspruch zwecklos. Oder der Chef feiert alkoholisiert seine private Party im Lokal, indem er die Musik stundenlang sehr laut aufdreht. Eine Unterhaltung ist nicht mehr möglich gewesen. Die Kopfschmerzen danach gab es gratis. Der Fuchsbau ist hochpreisig, da erwarte ich auch eine entsprechende Bedienung. Aber wenn das Ambiente nicht mehr stimmt fällt es nun auch ins Gewicht, dass regelmäßig die Bestellung nicht wie gewünscht ausgeführt wird. Mal fehlt die Mayonaise, die trotz Bestellung und mehrfacher Nachfrage nicht geliefert wird, mal gibt es die nicht bestellte Portion Pommes, oder man wird einfach "auf dem Trockenen" sitzengelassen. Außerdem begrüßt die Bedienung Gästehunde mit vielen Leck-(der Hund) und Streicheleinheiten, um dann mit ungewaschenen Händen das Essen wieder auszuteilen. Schade, hier war es früher toll, aber nun wird der Laden heruntergewirtschaftet. +++ Update +++ Ich hätte ehrlich nicht gedacht, dass der Gastwirt seine Antwort so lange stehen lässt. Das veranlasst mich jetzt aufgrund der doch recht harten Ausdrucksweise zu einer Antwort. Offensichtlich hat sie der Zorn des Gastwirtes am Wort "hochpreisig" entzündet, aber dieses Wort ist sicherlich nicht abwertend. Ein Ferrari ist ein hochpreisiges Auto, und niemand wird das beleidigend finden. Allerdings erwartet man von einem Ferarri mehr als von einem Fiat Panda. Und das bezieht sich im Gasthaus nicht nur auf die verwendeten Zutaten sondern den Gesamtauftritt des Gasthauses. Ich möchte noch darauf hinweisen, dass die Angestellten seinerzeit nicht in der Lage waren, den "Fetenchef" zu stoppen, was soll man als Gast da machen? Ansonsten gibt es in der Antwort keinerlei Anzeichen von Selbstreflektion.Schade. Da kann sich jeder Leser selbst ein Urteil bilden.

Urige Gaststätte in exzellenter Lage mitten im Wald. Vom Hähnchen war ich leider enttäuscht. Meines war extrem klein und ich wurde nicht satt. Der Burger meiner Frau war wiederum echt spitze.

Hier gibt es leckere Hähnchen schön cross gebraten und gut gewürzt, die Pommes sind gut der gemischte Salat spitze aber groß, wenn man zu zweit ist sollte nur einer den Salat bestellen, der Service ist aufmerksam und freundlich. Am Wochenende muss man einen Tisch reservieren. Einen Stern Abzug gibt es wg. der Wartezeit (ca 1 Std. ) und der Preise, gefühlt könnten die "einfachen" Gerichte und Getränke alle 1 Euro günstiger sein (ausser der gem. Salat 🥗)

Um es vorweg zu nehmen …die Hähnchen sind lecker … bis heute immer gerne da gewesen … wollte heute für eine Weihnachtsfeier reservieren …. Um es abzukürzen …. Der Kontakt am Telefon war ausgesprochen unfreundlich ( der Chef persönlich war es) und mein Anliegen warum und weshalb ich erst 2 Wochen vorher die genaue Personenzahl ( hatte so 10 bis 20 ca angegeben, da wir aus der Pflege sind und das schonmal ein bisschen schwankt)durchgeben kann wurde mit den Worten abgefertigt kann ich nicht machen …. Vielen Dank dafür ….andere Lokale hatten bisher noch nie ein Problem damit .Service und Freundlichkeit somit eine glatte 6….

OMG...mit Abstand der leckerste Burger, den ich je gegessen habe. Ein sehr schönes Lokal. Erst war ich über die kleine Speisekarte verwundert, doch das was dort auf der Karte steht ist top. Kann ich jedem nur empfehlen.

Das Hähnchen dort ist sehr sehr gewöhnlich
