Forsthaus Dechsendorf in Erlangen

Delicious food and excellent service. It's on the street but still has a lovely beer garden right by the lake. Definitely a recommendation!

We love the Forsthaus, but today we were so disappointed: the potato salad was too salty, the Bischofsweiher salad was completely oversalted, and the pepper cream sauce was completely oversalted! Such a shame, 3 out of 4 meals were barely edible, and at those prices, we were so disappointed! That's never happened to us there before, what a shame...

Unfortunately, this time the side salad only contained yellowed leaves and the sauce for the chanterelles...well, edible but lacking in flavor. It could have been thicker and more substantial. Hope to see you next time!🙏🏻

In a beautiful lakeside location with a cozy beer garden, today's Forsthaus was a pure delight. The food was delicious, with large portions and a reasonable price. They also offered excellent wine. The service was very friendly and accommodating. All in all, a very successful evening. We would gladly come back.

It is a nice biergarten, service and location is great. But the food is a bit too expensive for the quality they offer. I was very surprised than the Schnitzel dish is 27€. It is a bit too much in my opinion. The plates look fancy but the quality is just ok, for example the Schäuferla is 20€ vs 15€ that is in other biergarten.

Ox breast - more of a soup than a solid meal!

Our visit to the Forsthaus was very positive. Parking in front of the restaurant is a bit difficult. However, there is a larger parking lot about 100 meters away. The dining room can get quite loud when full, but this is perfectly normal. The dining room is beautiful, rustic, and practically furnished. The highlight is definitely the outdoor area with a view of the lake, which we were unable to use due to the weather. The service was very polite and prompt (thanks for the friendly service). The food was very good and served within a reasonable time. The price is reasonable. Many. Thank you for the wonderful time.

Great location on the Dechsendorfer Weiher lake. Excellent regional and contemporary cuisine. On some days, there's an amazing BBQ. Seating is available both in the beautiful garden and indoors. Prices reflect the value. Highly recommended.

Everything was great so far! 😎👍🏼 Only the potato salad was a bit too vinegary for us, and the chanterelle mushrooms in cream sauce were a bit too heavy on the vegetable broth. But that's a matter of taste! We'll definitely be back! 😉

If you come to Dechsendorf, it's an absolute must. The BBQ is so good, you should book in advance, and there's always great music. Today it's funky blues.

Food and service simply excellent!

For €27, two small schnitzels and a sauce that tasted very similar to the Tomy tetra pack, which tasted accordingly, with a bit too much salt and frozen chanterelle mushrooms!!! Along with them, they served noodles that were lukewarm, while the fried schnitzel was too hot, which in my opinion didn't come out of the pan as described on the menu. And not even a side salad for this price and variety of cheap products. A culinary disaster!!! Anyone who knows even a little cooking would probably agree with me. Plus, the parking lot, which allows the gravel dust to fly up to the nearby tables as cars drive in and out. Never again!!! One star for the friendly service.

We were visiting Erlangen for the first time and were staying at the nearby campsite. We were hungry, and the reviews of the Forsthaus were good, so we reserved a table for six people. What can I say, the evening was fantastic! The service was super friendly and accommodating, the food was truly excellent (and I come from the restaurant industry myself), and the drinks (beer and wine) were also great. All in all, we had a wonderful evening, and even the locals who weren't familiar with the Forsthaus before will be happy to come back! 😉😊!!

We recently visited the restaurant and initially had a very positive impression: the outdoor area was pleasant and the service was friendly and attentive. Our choice fell on a salad with chicken and a game ragout. Unfortunately, there was a problem with the salad: the grated cheese used had a distinctly sour smell, which indicated spoilage. Although we were uncomfortable with the situation, the service staff noticed our hesitation and responded quickly and professionally by replacing the salad without any problems. However, we were surprised that we were also brought a separate bowl of the same cheese and told that it was okay. The unpleasant smell was also clearly noticeable in this bowl, and the cheese was visibly moldy. Unfortunately, dealing with spoiled food in this way is not acceptable and has significantly tarnished our overall impression. In general, the service and ambience were good - it's all the more regrettable that the kitchen didn't act more carefully here.

After a walk at the Dechsendorfer Weiher, we (larger group of six adults and four small children) went to the Dechsendorf forester's lodge. Since we had good weather, we went to the beer garden. This has a cozy atmosphere and invites you to linger. The restaurant offers typical Franconian cuisine. Despite being busy at lunchtime, the attentive wait staff came straight to us and took the orders. After about 15 minutes we had the orders on the table. The food tasted good and was visually very attractively presented. The portions are very generous in my opinion. The prices are reasonable in my opinion. The drinks alone are a bit more expensive, but the points mentioned above made that worth it. There are special dishes for children and, what is not a given, their own menu. The card comes with colored pencils so you can color it. There are also little puzzles on the map, which was a great activity for our kids while they waited. Little details like that are something you appreciate as a parent :) All in all a great Franconian restaurant and a recommendation from me.

We come from the beautiful Hanseatic city of Rostock to visit my parents. We always come to your place because it's simply unbelievably delicious. We always get the Schäufele (shoulder of pork), because we don't have it here on the coast. The rind is nice and crispy, and the meat is just as it should be. The service is friendly, and the rustic restaurant in the forester's lodge invites you to linger. It's also nice and cozy outside. We love coming here.

Nicht zu vergessen die qualitativ hochwertigen Weine. Was will man mehr? Unsere Bitte an die Crew vom Forsthaus: Bitte macht weiter so! Lasst Euch nicht von dem 30% - Virus befallen, der derzeit viele Gastronomen heimsucht. Bis zum nächsten Mal .. Wir freuen uns auf weitere Genussmomente.

Excellent Franconian cuisine, should I be in Erlangen again, I will definitely go there again.

Waren zu dritt Mittagessen. Unsere Bedienung war nicht so nett und die Salatsoße gar nicht lecker. Natürlich war viel los, sind aber bisschen enttäuscht.

The food is excellent. Fresh mushrooms from the woods and deer. Perfect for fall. The service is good, and if the weather is nice, there is a lovely beergarden. Opening hours are very convenient for late lunch or early dinner.

Absolute heart recommendation! We spent a wonderful evening in the forester's house today. The service was always friendly and accommodating. Of course we started with an aperitif in the beer garden in the best weather and great atmosphere. Our starters (tomato soup and side salad) were wonderful and arrived at the table quickly despite the beer garden being full. We were simply thrilled with the main courses! Price-performance ratio is absolutely justified due to the portion size, freshness and quality. A completely wonderful evening that is far from over! We would definitely like to come back here!

The food was delicious and we had a direct view of the Dechsendorfer Weiher. Since the outside area is directly adjacent to a street, it can get a little louder at times.

Attentive, friendly staff. Delicious food (schnitzel was great, but the salad was two corners above average) reasonable prices. Ambiance (in the evening, outside) is really great. A place where you can invite friends without hesitation.

Cozy beer garden that invites you to linger. We weren't inside, so I can't say anything about it. The service was very friendly, attentive and accommodating. As a guest you felt welcome. The food was very tasty. In addition to game dishes, there are also seasonal offerings as well as German and Franconian cuisine. What we had was enough in portion. The price is generally a little higher, but ok. Only the potato salad was borderline sour. Here less would be more. There is a point deduction for this. Also for the dressing of the side salad. (I wasn't alone in this opinion). The summer salad, on the other hand, was very good. What struck me negatively were the toilets, which were already getting old and very worn. In general we felt very comfortable and ate well. We'd love to come back.

Mixed impression. Most of the waiters are very friendly and attentive, but one of the ladies is rude and unfriendly. The sauces with the meal (Schäufala, wild boar leg) are too salty, but the meat tasted very good. The ice cream sundaes for dessert were consistently impressive. You sit very comfortably at the table with a view of the lake, but also the busy street.

The food is generally good and fresh, although I don't recommend pancakes with blueberry sauce - she sauce was not good. The staff is not trained well, it happened to us a few times to wait way too long for anyone to notice our appearance. The biggest con of this place is that you can order food only till 19:30. Come on, you have a restaurant next to a popular summer relax destination and you close your kitchen that early??

war heute gegen 13⁰⁰ im Biergarten des Forsthaus ... nach etwa halber Stunde Wartezeit höre ich zufällig, wie andere Gäste am Nebentisch bestellen wollten und die dann darauf hingewiesen wurden, dass sie sich anstellen müssten und sie dann "platziert" würden ... diesen Spruch habe ich zuletzt vor 35 Jahren in der DDR gehört ... wer's so mag, der kann gern hingehen ... ich nicht mehr ...

I had wild boar curry. If you want it spicy, this is exactly the right thing for you. Vegetables crunchy, meat tender, rice to the point. The wild garlic and potato soup was rich and good.

friendly staff!! The price/performance ratio for the food is not okay. I had 3 bratwursts with potato salad = the bratwursts were too salty, the potato salad was too vinegary, my husband had Forsthausschnitzel with cream sauce and chanterelles = the schnitzels were okay, the chanterelles were a manageable 3-4 pieces, the sauce was okay but a bit small, that's what it was plenty of spaetzle. The beer was at a stomach-friendly temperature 😎.

Was there for the all-you-can-eat buffet for €33. There were spare ribs, 20 different salads, bratwurst, sauces, potatoes, beef and bread. Everything very tasty 😋 This is once a month, with live music

Fränkisches Schäufele mit Klößen, Kümmelsauce und gemischtem Salat. Besser geht es nicht. Die Kruste des Schäufeles ist auf den Punkt gebacken. Der Geschmack und die Textur des Fleisches lässt nichts zu wünschen übrig. Gute Klöße und ein schmackhafter Salat vervollständigen das Gericht. Wenn man sich im Forsthaus etwas bestellt, darf man davon ausgehen, dass die eigenen Erwartungen nicht enttäuscht werden. Solides erlerntes Handwerk trifft auf Können. Schade nur, dass man sich diesen Genuss nicht öfters leisten kann.

War am Vatertag im Forsthaus zum Essen, Das Essen, das Personal die Atmosphäre und natürlich das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis waren absulud hervorragend. Außerdem konnte ich noch nach dem Essen einen ausgiebigen Spaziergang um den Dechsendorfer Weiher machen. Es war einfach ein super Tag für mich. Werde bestimmt das Forsthaus mit dem schönen Biergarten und Restaurant besuchen.
