Food is like the price, really cheap. When I tried to cut the schnitzel, the fork bent. Weizenradler was given water. When the complaint was made, the service person disappeared without saying a word. Overall, it's just mass production with inferior goods. Not recommended.

Huge parking lot, large beer garden, playground for the little ones and delicious freshly prepared food at moderate prices! Top recommendation!

We waited forever for our food. At some point I asked and I got the wrong guest informant, so unfortunately the food was as good as cold. But otherwise very nice there! Oh well,..... It's been a long time since we were there again to enjoy the last warm late summer days outside... First of all: you can still sit outside beautifully The service at the outside counter was alone and completely overwhelmed, I had to request the drinks I had already paid for twice. The schnitzels were dry, orange with black dots (industrial products?) and overpriced for this "quality" at almost 16 euros, the fries were hard and cold. There used to be a side salad with the schnitzel, but apparently not anymore... According to the "nice" waitress, coffee is available "ONLY FILTER", from a large warming tub (who can say when it would be brewed?), which is no longer really up to date. Conclusion for me: it's OK to sit outside and drink a Coke, I'd rather do everything else somewhere else

As always, a very good meal there. Portion size more than sufficient. Price/performance great.

Great place with a great beer garden

The restaurant with the beer garden is located in the middle of the forest, surrounded by several large parking spaces. We were hungry and thirsty after our hike. The thirst was quenched sensibly, you can't go wrong. Unfortunately, the food was only below average. It seemed to us like mass-produced goods in a tourist trap and that's how it tasted. We are used to better things from other Palatinate huts. Too bad. I like to spend good money on good food - the latter lifts my mood. In this case probably not, we won't be coming back either.

Went there with the motorhome and ate there too. Price/performance is not right, it's all food that is kept warm and "refined" with ready-made spices and ingredients, e.g. B. like dried parsley. When it comes to the salad, you don't skimp on the dressing from the bucket; you can still taste the caustic taste of the dressing and the finished sauce for a long time. Quantity instead of class. In the afternoon the power went out in the entire motorhome area. Several people have reported it, but according to the staff, the boss cannot be reached. My conclusion, and that of others, is that you don't have to do it again

I'm happy to have been able to adjust my rating upwards again. The food is again very tasty and we really enjoy coming to Tom's on the "Begge" every week. The schnitzels are fresh, the salads are very tasty and the price/performance ratio is again right. Keep it up!!!!!

It is always worth a visit. This wonderful ambience, somewhere between a forest house, a restaurant and a folk festival, is very captivating and is intended for each visitor to interpret according to their preferences. The food is delicious and of very good quality, good choices and a comfortable stay despite self-service. Or maybe that's why... The easy accessibility from the B10 or PS-Ruhbank via access roads and hiking trails is another plus point.

We spent a night on the site with the camper and everything we needed was there 👍🏽 Unfortunately there wasn't enough to eat on site

Nice excursion restaurant in the forest near Pirmasens. You get good home cooking and it's self-service. If you want to stop off after a nice walk or hike, you should do so.

The restaurant is in the middle of the forest. There are numerous hiking trails all around. The inn is a typical self-service restaurant. The staff at the ordering, drinks and food distribution make a nice impression. We waited at most 10 minutes for our order and we all enjoyed the food. We will definitely come back.

It's actually a nice inn and I enjoy going there, but unfortunately the last visit left me very disappointed. I got food poisoning from the food and had to go to the hospital. Service with the drinks was quite good, but as I said, I'm disappointed that this visit had to end like this. Unfortunately for me only one star for the food. Price wise. Staff very friendly. I hope that something will be done and that more hygienic work will be done because there were also deficiencies there, for example when it came to the dishes as they were not completely clean when they were handed out or the fact that serving the food at the counter did not, in my opinion, correspond to the hygienic measures You should then use gloves and not grab the plate with your bare fingers It's a shame that it happened like that and unfortunately I won't go there again because I don't want to have that experience again. The location in the forest is pretty in itself, especially for hikers and families. There is a nice playground for children. But the food is mediocre at best, mine was completely over salted. If you can avoid it, don't use the toilets, they smell incredibly of urine and are otherwise very dirty

Nicely located in the forest, self-service beer garden with decent, meat-heavy (quick) food. Great playground for children, pleasant peace and quiet. Prices are cheap, so overall good average.

Amazing food, delicious fries, delicious sausages

Whenever I'm in the corner, people stop here. A beer garden - self-service is perfect. Simple, good cuisine. That's how it has to be. No chi-chi, no frills. The schnitzel was super tasty and the price-performance ratio was perfect. Nice and very helpful staff. The Palatinate spritzer was poured in an exemplary manner and for 4 euros it was absolutely within the limits. Apart from the lack of the option to pay by card, I can't complain. Therefore a star deduction. A great ambience and the RV parking space right there. You can definitely drink an extra spritzer. 😁 Update August 11, 2024 You can finally pay by card. Therefore an upgrade to 5 stars. 😀👍

Also ich kann nichts Negatives schreiben und wenn ich so manche Kommentare lese, stammen die wahrscheinlich von Personen, die zu Hause nichts besseres bekommen und hier schlechte Kritik üben?!? Das Essen ist mehr als üppig und vom Geschmack wurde ich es als sehr gut bezeichnen. Klar ist mal viel los, was dann zu Stau führt, aber das zeugt davon, dass das Essen und der Ort eben angenommen werden und es auch gut ist. Also nicht alles Negativ bewerten, nur weil ihr einmal nicht zufrieden wart oder irgend etwas anderes mal nicht gepasst hat. Preis-Leistung sehr gut und geschmacklich gut. Ich kann den Beckenhof nur empfehlen.

We've stopped here a few times after hiking. There is plenty of seating outside, the staff is nice, toilets are very clean, the food is delicious and the spritzer is perfect. Highly recommended.

Nice location in the middle of the forest.... BUT: poor organization, i.e. we had to queue for a long time, even though the beer garden was only about 15% full. The spinach dumplings were the driest I've ever tried, so drowning them in a cheese sauce doesn't help If you're looking for quantity instead of quality, you're welcome to go - we don't anymore

Very nice, rustic forester's lodge with a beer garden, divided into 3 areas. Food was delicious and the price The performance ratio is also good here. We were there with the motorhome. There are 2 SP, 1x for approx. 10 motorhomes and 1x for approx. 15-20 motorhomes. For €12 you get electricity, shower, toilet, water, and disposal, everything including toilets and showers were always tip top clean. The owner and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

The atmosphere is really cool with children (thanks to the playground and trees) and the service is also very nice. In the summer you can really spend a wonderful time here. Only I, as the only vegetarian in the family, would have liked a salad or something similar, as the other two vegetarian dishes are also very powerful (dumplings in cream sauce or potatoes with full-fat quark), so one point deducted.

Had lunch there on our company outing. It was very filling and tasty, perfect value for money.

The price-performance ratio can be questioned, even if the quality of the food is quite okay. Unfortunately, the service is not satisfactory to any extent. Rudeness, no willingness to help. A general “unwelcome feeling”. Denial of the lunch price even though you were still there during that time, but the cashier tidied things up, served guests who arrived after us, and simply left you standing. So you weigh up whether the food, of satisfactory quality, is even worth such behavior.

Always happy to come back. Great chicken in summer. Very cozy. But it has now become very expensive! The sanitary facilities need to be renovated. Also, there is no soap or paper towels in the toilets!

Good restaurant after a hike. We had good food, cheese schnitzel and salad plate with turkey strips, tasty and freshly prepared. The staff was friendly and quite ok. We would be happy to recommend the restaurant.

A catastrophe table reservation lost. Half of the table got food, the other half didn't have anything after an hour and the rest weren't allowed to order. According to the staff, the kitchen was overwhelmed. The vegetarian offering is also now ridiculous. It's really gotten worse over the last few years and I hope it gets better again. Either more staff or change the organization.

Lots of people were having a great time having a nosh and a drink outside surrounded by the forest. At <5 minutes from the highway, it's the antidote to service stations that have made it normal to charge €1 (yep that's 2 DM)to use the lavs. This is not 'fine cuisine'. Nor is it diet food, I'm told it's what the late Helmut Kohl liked to see on the menu. But we ate well for a low price in a beer garden in the forest. Certainly worth keeping in mind if you're driving past.
