Great location with superb Palatinate food.

We stayed at the campervan site by the forester's lodge. Everything you need for a comfortable stay is there: electricity, water and waste disposal, toilets, and showers. The food in the restaurant is very good, and the portions are generous. The restaurant has a rustic atmosphere, and the service is always friendly. Food and drinks are self-service, as is common at other lodges in the Palatinate Forest. In summer, you can also sit outside. A great destination for a day trip, whether for hiking or a relaxing meal.

We're here with our campervan, €12 per pitch including electricity, toilet and shower, everything is nicely done, very beautiful surroundings, delicious food at fair prices and a top-notch Risling spritzer at a great price, highly recommended 👍

We found this place in the middle of nowhere, driving from Karlsruhe on the B10 through the forest (a very bad forest road) to the restaurant. The food took 45 minutes for two hamburgers and fries, but it was delicious.

A variety of dishes, few vegetarian options, but flexible in preparation. The food arrived super quickly and the portions were large.

On Thursdays, they serve delicious steamed dumplings with potato soup for lunch at an unbeatable price.

Beautifully situated, right on the hiking trail. Very friendly staff and incredibly delicious Palatinate cuisine – and of course, they also serve a genuine Palatinate (!!!) spritzer (four fingers wide 😜). Stopping here after a hike is a dream. And if you happen to overdo it with the winemaker's platter, they have containers available for taking home the leftovers (excellent service 👍). Palatinate and Palatinate rock forever 🤘 🎸 🍷

Worst food I've ever been served. I had a Beckenhof burger with fries yesterday. They don't serve healthy food there. When I asked, I was told salad was only available in the summer, and no vegetables at all. The burger was burnt... the bread was cooked for too long at high heat, blackening it. The side fries were extremely oversalted... I complained, but they didn't take it back, saying it was always like that and okay... Never again with this landlord/tenant. The bad food at my grandparents' retirement home is even better 🤦🏻‍♀️

The ambience is very nicely designed and comfortable, there is no real service, you order at the cash register and bring the food to your table yourself, the food has deteriorated a lot, incredibly salty

We came here with our RV on a recommendation and were completely satisfied. The restrooms are a bit dated, but that's the only thing I could complain about. The staff is nice and friendly. I met the manager just before leaving, and he was also very nice, and his Toro cans were top-notch. This certainly won't be our last time there.

The fact that my 80-year-old wife was expected to carry a heavy tray down the front steps, even though she had asked for the food to be taken away in two batches, is grossly negligent. She almost fell on the stairs. Mr. Innkeeper, this is unacceptable. You need to ensure that your staff is friendlier and more helpful!

It used to be honest, good food; now everything comes out of a packet, everything artificial and over-salted. Service is nonexistent; you have to get everything yourself. The atmosphere is still great, especially the large open space, which makes the place very cozy.

We were at Beckenhof again yesterday. The dining room, in particular, impresses with its incredibly cozy atmosphere; the numerous room dividers allow the space to be divided up perfectly, depending on your needs. Yesterday we ate the "Pfälzer Steak" there, which was truly sensationally good. Top quality, which more than surprised us, as it's already difficult to find in good restaurants. We'll be back for the steaks alone.

Superb food, Beautiful and especially large beer garden in the middle of the forest

We arrived from Italy shortly after 7:30. The kitchen was already closed. On the way to the car, a super-nice man ran up to us and asked if we wanted something else to eat. He said he couldn't make everything for us, but offered us several dishes. Within 10 minutes, we had delicious schnitzels with everything. Everything was fresh and delicious. We've never experienced such great service. Thank you again. We highly recommend you. The Uhrhan family.

Very nice hike with food afterwards

I used to think the Beckenhof was fantastic, great food and great prices. During and shortly after the coronavirus pandemic, it declined somewhat, like many restaurants. Now, I have to honestly say, everything is back to normal: lots of customers, good food, and really good portions for a very reasonable price. The food is delicious, excellent Palatinate cuisine that I highly recommend. It's also a great place for hiking.

Friendly staff, quick preparation

I was actually looking forward to a quiet overnight spot with my camper so I could go hiking first thing in the morning. In the middle of the forest, with hiking trails right next to the parking lot. Sounds perfect. But it was so incredibly crowded and loud that after about two hours I decided to go home. I guess the comments about it being quiet refer more to the night. I can't judge that. I felt so uncomfortable there today. Besides the constantly barking dogs (I had my own dog with me and I love dogs) and screaming children, the brass band was the highlight?! Then there was the highlight. Perhaps a dress rehearsal for the upcoming Oktoberfest? That would at least explain the people there in traditional costumes. Even getting a decent spot with my small T5 was pretty difficult. I mean, what can you expect when there's a huge camper (more like a truck that feels bigger than my apartment) with a trailer parked ACROSS several spaces. Dear operator, do people actually pay for all the spaces they take up? Just a quick reminder: the spot is in the Palatinate Forest. A wonderful forest for hiking, biking, bouldering, and climbing. I'm really sad. I've been wishing I could finally find a decent (quiet) place to sleep and then head out hiking or biking to the next trail in the morning. Tips for such places are welcome. ✨

Recommended for dining with children on nice days. There's a nice playground with plenty of seating, so parents can stay seated and still have a view. The food is okay, nothing special, but not bad either. The outdoor area is completely self-service. I can't comment on the indoor area.

This restaurant is ideal as a starting or finishing point for hikes and excursions, or as a cozy stopover while traveling. Location & Parking The Forsthaus is quietly located close to nature, and there is ample parking available – including for RVs. Parking spaces are located in the immediate vicinity of the premises. Outdoor Area & Atmosphere The spacious outdoor area offers plenty of seating – both under large, shady trees and under parasols. A clear plus for families: The well-organized playground is directly in view, so parents can relax and eat and drink while their children play safely. Ordering Concept & Service The self-service concept is straightforward and well-organized: Ordering and payment are made at the container counter. Drinks can be taken away, and hot meals are alerted by pager as soon as they are ready. Food is picked up at a separate counter, where cutlery and napkins are also provided. There are practical takeaway boxes for leftover food – perfect for on the go. What we particularly liked: A dedicated sauce station with ketchup, mayo, and mustard – hygienic and well-designed, with small cardboard containers. The entire area – both inside and outside – is very clean and well-maintained. Dog-friendly: Water containers are available for guests to take to their seats. The return system for used dishes is practical: There are central storage areas that are emptied regularly. Culinary The cuisine is particularly noteworthy: They offer typical Palatinate dishes – tasty, freshly prepared, and in generous portions. The wait was pleasantly short, and the food fully met our expectations. Conclusion The Forsthaus Beckenhof is a highly recommended place for families, nature lovers, and travelers. The combination of good food, a relaxed atmosphere, family-friendliness, and practical organization won us over. We've been there several times – and we'll definitely be back! Yes, I love being there, and so do my family and friends. We often go there with our motorhome, but also just for fun. Great hosts, great restaurant, great beer garden, and my grandson also gets his money's worth. The playground with the benches is simply wonderful. The food is really great, and there's something for everyone. Coffee and cake. Clean sanitary facilities. The 12 euros for a night's stay with the motorhome is really cheap, including electricity, water, and sanitary facilities, as well as waste disposal. You can go on beautiful hikes from there. What can I say? I'm always amazed. The nice thing is that you can find a dry spot both outside and in the restaurant in good shade, and when it rains. I also think it's great that you can buy canned meat dishes there; they're delicious and, for us campers, they're perfect for traveling without refrigeration because of their long shelf life. I hope the Beckenhof stays with us in this form for a very long time. It's also a hit for large celebrations. I celebrated my 60th birthday there, everything was great, and the price was more than reasonable. You simply have to go there once, and you'll definitely come back again and again. Dogs are also welcome, and there are several water bowls available.

It's a great place for kids to play, and you can sit and eat right by the playground. My schnitzel and fries were unfortunately swimming in grease, which I didn't like. The half chicken was very tender and juicy :)

Beautifully located on the outskirts of town, it's a wonderful destination for the whole family. €11 for a small half-brewery with a roll isn't exactly cheap, but then again, you won't find it anywhere else. In any case, it's a nice place to relax. Self-service, as you'd expect from a forest lodge. Everything is clean, and they even serve fresh beer on tap—what more could you want? We'll go there again sometime.

The portions were large. We disagree with the negative reviews. It's not a quiet, traditional restaurant. But you can choose other restaurants for that. The quality of the food is good, if not excellent. We consider 4 stars appropriate.

Restaurant/Brewery surrounded by nature, it's always a pleasure to go and eat and then take a walk in the woods. The place has remained more or less stable and continuous over the years. The prices are more than acceptable and the food is equally good.

An amazing quick meal on the route from NW to Southern Germany. I've been here a number of times over the year and it remains consistently excellent. It is located somewhat off the beaten track in the middle of a forest. On arrival you order from an outside counter set-up and will be given a pager so that you know when you did us ready for collection from the kitchen. When the pager goes off you walk into the main building (assuming you've chosen to fund on their tree covered terrace) and you exchange the pager for your meals. The food is traditional Germany fayre and offers amazing drinks in larger eg (500ml sizes) too

There's a large dining room and a terrace for outdoor seating under many 🌲 trees that provide shade 🌞. Beautiful hiking area and a large, free parking lot.

It was a stopover on the way to Luxembourg. The road there is a 👀👀👀 shock absorber test track...the parking lot is a bit confusing as to where and how to park. The food was very good. The portion sizes were adequate. There's a playground for the kids. Self-service is fine for us. A restaurant for day trips.
