Unfortunately, after a long day, we arrived at 6:40 PM with a nice meal in prospect. After all, the restaurant was open until 8 p.m. However, that was a major setback when the kitchen turned out to be closed. Coffee and something to drink was still possible... quite a disappointment, so be sure to arrive on time!

We were here with 5 friends and we all agreed that we will never come back here. Unfortunately, we all found the only vegetarian dish inedible. The purest mass processing takes place here: Self-service Waiting in line for a long time - first at the checkout then at the food counter Extremely unfriendly staff Two of us were verbally abused by an employee for no reason. We had the impression that only sales counted here and the guests were not respected here The tables outside were very dirty and partly covered with moldy leftover food. We all felt very uncomfortable here and will definitely never come back

Just bad In the beer garden, the tables were dusty, the food was bottom drawer. The landlord was very unfriendly, bordering on impertinent, and was spoken to on a first-name basis and insulted in front of all the other guests. Where the good reviews come from is incomprehensible to me

I found this atmosphere cruel, pure mass production. The food was terrible, as was the service. To make matters worse, we were then shouted at, literally shouted at, after we allowed ourselves to join the long queue. You really don't have to put up with that. In my opinion, the customer is, as the saying goes, king. I will never enter this restaurant again.

We were there yesterday in wonderful weather. Beautiful large beer garden. The toilets very clean. The playground is wonderful for the children, the food is delicious, drinks are always nice and cold. The staff is very polite and everything happens very quickly. Gladly again 👍

This is definitely the right address for people who like fitness food. We were definitely extremely disappointed. Mass processing. Quantity instead of class. The icing on the cake was the friendly “usher” who shouted at the guests as they served their food. It somehow had the charm of a prison camp. Never again!!!!

In any case, we are there about 3 to 4 times a year with the motorhome and each time we are impressed by the place, the food, the ambience and the staff. The boss is a very nice, bright guy and always likes to come by here

Had a bite to eat today and can only say never again I had lentil soup with sausages, thickened with brown roux like Schnitzel Jägerart but without any taste my wife had currywurst with fries, the beef sausage was so hard and the fries were just as hard and not too narrow recommend

Rustic atmosphere with a traditional beer garden and a beautiful children's playground. Large selection of hearty dishes. Attention: Unfortunately, there has been no selection of meat-free, bacon-free or lighter alternatives for some time now. Too bad! Many Palatinate Forest clubs offer significantly more (e.g. Hilschberghaus Rodalben).

Always worth a trip and a great starting point for hikes and bike tours.

If I couldn't give a star, I would. Seedy, mass-market atmosphere with absolutely mediocre food and an arrogant "owner" who apparently doesn't like dogs. If I don't want to welcome dogs, I have to declare that, but then the clientele would probably be reduced by at least 2/3. We had been sitting alone in the entrance area for a long time when there was really very little activity. We had our two dogs with us, including a young reactive puppy who still needs to be trained. At some point, Mr. Memmer sat down in this area with one of his friends and got upset about our puppy and the fact that I was on the phone with my daughter, who owns the puppy. He more or less escorted us out and offered us €15 to leave. I have never experienced such arrogant and outrageous behavior from a beer garden owner. At some point you probably no longer need to be polite and courteous when you're comfortable living in a run-down, but still beautifully located property. We were definitely there for the first and last time. And Monsieur Arrogance himself asked us not to come anymore. What does he want in the actually empty guest area, at the table of one of his probably regular customers and accompanying guests out? Absolutely no recommendation from us and especially not as a dog owner or cell phone user! There are much nicer and friendlier destinations in the Palatinate, especially with better quality and price-performance ratio. Don't do it to yourself, our Palatinate doesn't deserve to have mass tourist destinations like this damaging our reputation as a hospitable people. If at some point you are doing too well and still have far too many guests coming because the location is in a nice location, you will probably become stupid and arrogant at some point because you simply no longer need to be friendly and courteous, that's our impression! Stay away, there are much better and more beautiful destinations!

Absolute no go. Spend your money elsewhere for better quality, service and ambience. There are so many beautiful locations in the Palatinate, with much better value for money, nicer ambience and better food. You don't have to waste any money on inferiority and mass production. Not recommended at all, even less than mediocre.

Tried Hungarian soup (or whatever it was). Underground. A quick look online for a recipe might be helpful. Service is difficult to judge with self-service. But I was happy with myself.

No... no recommendation... the owner treated us very unkindly in the morning before the hike, so we preferred to eat at the Waldhaus Starkenbrunnen after the hike.

The location, the ambience and the beer garden are very nice. Unfortunately you have to go through a smoking area to enter the restaurant. The self-service concept takes some getting used to, but is understandable these days. The food was ready for pickup after about 5 minutes. The sauces were consistently good, the meat (steak and schnitzel) was rather average. The only side dish is fries. Neither pasta nor potatoes and no side salads either.

We were there over the weekend with our RV. It cost €12 including water and electricity, and there was a toilet and shower. Ideal for hiking. The food at the forester's lodge was really delicious and reasonably priced. We'll definitely be back 😃

Always nice, especially when the weather is nice, to spend some time outside with a Weißherbst spritzer. Of course it will be even nicer when the outdoor bar goes back into operation. Although we didn't eat anything this time, you can eat well here at any time if you're not afraid of self-service.

Visited the restaurant shortly after 6:30 p.m. on Ash Wednesday, looking forward to a nice meal. According to the internet, opening hours are supposedly until 8 p.m. Young lady at the counter, there is no more food... when we briefly asked if there would be a little something, she reacted very, very unfriendly, after we said that it could be done in a different tone, there was another unnecessary discussion :-((...

We've been eating at Beckenhof for the first time in 4 years and were once again very disappointed with the food. For 3 horiches with bacon sauce 9.90 without salad, plus they were like chewing gum and only lukewarm, it seemed to me as if they were left over from the day before. Sorry and a Rahm Schnitzel with fries and salad for 19.80 is too much money for me.

Large selection of food at fair prices. Large portions and tasty. Unfortunately, the cleanliness has deteriorated significantly in the last few months. The floor of the dining room is dirty on Monday lunchtime, an hour after opening, there are leftover food on the floor, probably from Sunday. There is a very unpleasant smell in the toilets and they are very dirty. Unfortunately, this really spoils the overall impression! Otherwise, a great starting point for very beautiful hiking trails!

Very good location to sit outside, eat and drink. And a good place for many paths to hike, or even just take a walk 🙃 And here in the inn you can enjoy and relax with delicious food and a beautiful ambience 👍

The food is rustic, sufficient and tasty, e.g. schnitzel with fries (without salad), meat knepp with horseradish or spinach dumplings. Ideal after the end of a hike, beautiful wooden construction inside with tiled stove and wooden floor, winter garden accessible from the inside. Drinks are poured well, both beers and wine spritzers. Prices are OK. The whole thing is organized like a large canteen, with a receipt and radio beeper system, the kitchen works at high speed. There's no small, cute hut feeling there. Always a lot of visitors, there is always something to look at. In summer there is a large outdoor beer garden with a chicken grill, children have a large playground, and there are RV parking spaces there, with rudimentary waste disposal, toilets and showers.

The Beckenhof is always worth a visit. I was craving liver dumplings with puree and I wasn't disappointed. It's self-service (which I personally don't really like) but the service is very friendly and helpful and special requests are also taken into account. I'd love to come back.

The Saumagen (Palatinate sausage specialty) with sauerkraut and with fries instead of rolls (Brauhausknorze) is very good, especially for the price. There is also very good freshly tapped beer. The portions are very generous. Unfortunately, cake is of commercial bakery quality, so boring dry and hard bases, like at the Wasgau bakery. But the atmosphere is always good. Service is difficult to rate because you serve yourself, but the staff there are friendly. Unfortunately, sauces are always salty, so it's better to stick with Saumagen or half a chicken, which is also very good. Edit: This evening the sauce was particularly salty again, not for heart patients. 😆 But there were still a lot of pensioners there.

Okay for a drink to quench your thirst. Otherwise very untidy and no service staff.

There is very tasty Palatinate food here, good portions at a great price. The Naturfreundehaus is self-service and the staff behind the counter were extremely friendly. Outside there is a large beer garden with shade. There are also tables and benches in the playground, which is practical for families with small children. The associated motorhome parking space including electricity, toilet, showers, disposal and water costs €12. A great place to walk, hike, cycle, stop off and unwind. Always my pleasure

Rustic country house style self service. Food ready quickly thanks to prepared components. Lots of space and seating. Food is Palatinate cuisine.

I was there today for the first time and certainly not the last time, absolute price and performance ratio, food tastes good and drinks are reasonably priced..

We were there twice in 3 days. Ate coffee and cake the first time, burger and currywurst the second time. We found everything very tasty and would combine a walk in the forest with a visit again. Self-service, which we didn't find bad at all and a bit noisy as it was quite busy both times.

Found the forester's lodge purely by chance through an inconspicuous sign on the B10. On the way through the forest, a car came towards us on the very narrow road. The driver asked us: Where do you want to go? We were informed that the kitchen had already closed. The driver (who turned out to be the boss) pulled out his cell phone and quickly called his cook... turned the stove on again and prepared schnitzel + Palatinate plates for us. We've never experienced anything like this 👍. Local as you would expect from a hearty beer garden. Cozy, simple with self-service, decent portions and reasonable price. Nice spot.

Great place to start long hikes. Very quiet at night. The food in the restaurant is tasty, but unfortunately only self-service here. Sanitary facilities would need a general renovation. Of the three men's toilets, only two can be locked. You can spend the night in the parking lot with your motorhome for €12. In our case there were 36 mobile homes, so the included sanitary facilities are simply too few. The floor inlet for the chemical toilets and gray water can be expanded. I find the power supply critical, the padded boxes in which the distribution boxes are located were filled with water at the bottom, water and electricity, you don't have a good feeling. With little effort you can really do a lot with the space.

Food is like the price, really cheap. When I tried to cut the schnitzel, the fork bent. Weizenradler was given water. When the complaint was made, the service person disappeared without saying a word. Overall, it's just mass production with inferior goods. Not recommended.

We waited forever for our food. At some point I asked and I got the wrong guest informant, so unfortunately the food was as good as cold. But otherwise very nice there! Oh well,..... It's been a long time since we were there again to enjoy the last warm late summer days outside... First of all: you can still sit outside beautifully The service at the outside counter was alone and completely overwhelmed, I had to request the drinks I had already paid for twice. The schnitzels were dry, orange with black dots (industrial products?) and overpriced for this "quality" at almost 16 euros, the fries were hard and cold. There used to be a side salad with the schnitzel, but apparently not anymore... According to the "nice" waitress, coffee is available "ONLY FILTER", from a large warming tub (who can say when it would be brewed?), which is no longer really up to date. Conclusion for me: it's OK to sit outside and drink a Coke, I'd rather do everything else somewhere else

As always, a very good meal there. Portion size more than sufficient. Price/performance great.

Great place with a great beer garden

The restaurant with the beer garden is located in the middle of the forest, surrounded by several large parking spaces. We were hungry and thirsty after our hike. The thirst was quenched sensibly, you can't go wrong. Unfortunately, the food was only below average. It seemed to us like mass-produced goods in a tourist trap and that's how it tasted. We are used to better things from other Palatinate huts. Too bad. I like to spend good money on good food - the latter lifts my mood. In this case probably not, we won't be coming back either.

The forester's lodge is located quite far into the forest, and on the way I thought a few times whether I was still in the right place. The portions are huge, the food is good. However, it's self-service, which wasn't clear to me at the beginning. The lady at the counter let me go to the table first. She wondered why I didn't order. I was wondering why she wasn't coming. Actually quite funny. The dining room inside has the charm of a Bavarian inn, large, high ceilings, but cozy

Went there with the motorhome and ate there too. Price/performance is not right, it's all food that is kept warm and "refined" with ready-made spices and ingredients, e.g. B. like dried parsley. When it comes to the salad, you don't skimp on the dressing from the bucket; you can still taste the caustic taste of the dressing and the finished sauce for a long time. Quantity instead of class. In the afternoon the power went out in the entire motorhome area. Several people have reported it, but according to the staff, the boss cannot be reached. My conclusion, and that of others, is that you don't have to do it again

Wow what a great schnitzel. It is self-service. But the food is great and the schnitzel is big

It is always worth a visit. This wonderful ambience, somewhere between a forest house, a restaurant and a folk festival, is very captivating and is intended for each visitor to interpret according to their preferences. The food is delicious and of very good quality, good choices and a comfortable stay despite self-service. Or maybe that's why... The easy accessibility from the B10 or PS-Ruhbank via access roads and hiking trails is another plus point.

Nice excursion restaurant in the forest near Pirmasens. You get good home cooking and it's self-service. If you want to stop off after a nice walk or hike, you should do so.

The restaurant is in the middle of the forest. There are numerous hiking trails all around. The inn is a typical self-service restaurant. The staff at the ordering, drinks and food distribution make a nice impression. We waited at most 10 minutes for our order and we all enjoyed the food. We will definitely come back.

It's actually a nice inn and I enjoy going there, but unfortunately the last visit left me very disappointed. I got food poisoning from the food and had to go to the hospital. Service with the drinks was quite good, but as I said, I'm disappointed that this visit had to end like this. Unfortunately for me only one star for the food. Price wise. Staff very friendly. I hope that something will be done and that more hygienic work will be done because there were also deficiencies there, for example when it came to the dishes as they were not completely clean when they were handed out or the fact that serving the food at the counter did not, in my opinion, correspond to the hygienic measures You should then use gloves and not grab the plate with your bare fingers It's a shame that it happened like that and unfortunately I won't go there again because I don't want to have that experience again. The location in the forest is pretty in itself, especially for hikers and families. There is a nice playground for children. But the food is mediocre at best, mine was completely over salted. If you can avoid it, don't use the toilets, they smell incredibly of urine and are otherwise very dirty
