Filoxenia isn't just a restaurant—it's a piece of Greece in the heart of Markkleeberg. The food is fresh, lovingly prepared, and offers a wonderful selection of traditional and modern dishes. The atmosphere is warm, and the staff is attentive and hospitable. Unfortunately, there are occasional reviews that give the impression of being less than honest or even deliberately negative. As a regular guest, I can say with a clear conscience: These comments do not reflect reality at all. Anyone who has ever been here will immediately sense the passion and care with which Filoxenia is run.

There's apparently been a change of management here, and I can only agree with the critical reviews. Fries were cold even though we only ordered rice, food was delivered in batches, and portions were small, which didn't match the price. The wrong food was delivered even though we hadn't ordered it, which ended up being on the bill. The ambiance and the staff are positive. Since we were invited here, this isn't our "Greek" place.

I can't describe the ambiance inside, as we sat outside. It felt a bit like a "cat's table," though. The staff was very friendly. Instead of the rice I ordered, however, I got fries. Had I complained, they would have definitely replaced it. The fries were very good, though. As I noticed at some tables, the ordered food unfortunately didn't work out quite often. The knife could have been sharper, and the apple spritzer could have used a bit more "apple." It was very pale and watery. All in all, I'd say it's quite filling, but there's still room for improvement...

That was the worst gyro we've ever eaten.

Since the change of ownership, unfortunately, I can't recommend it anymore. Far too expensive for far too little food. The staff seem bored and prefer to stand outside to smoke. Some of the drinks are stale and cheap. For example, Miranda instead of Fanta.

The waiter didn't come to the table, so we had to actively point out drink requests. Now we've tried again. This time, things went much better, and we had a wonderful evening. We came here on two consecutive days while visiting Markleeberg and were simply thrilled with the service and the food. We highly recommend it and would love to come back if we're in the area.

Unfortunately, not (anymore) recommended! The ambiance was fine – if you look past the stained seat cushions. The service was friendly but somewhat confused about where the drinks or food should go. The food itself – with the appetizer, I asked if the broad beans with feta could also be served as a smaller portion (due to the quantity). The waiter explained to me that it wasn't that much, so I ordered the (full) vegetarian dish as a starter. What was delivered was a small square bowl (actually a main course?) without the accompanying feta cheese. Okay, I thought, maybe the "side dish" option after all. The garlic bread was okay, and so was the portion of tzatziki. Unfortunately, both the main courses were disappointing. We had lamb fillet with green beans and the pan-fried lamb fillet with fries. Apparently, both plates had to wait a very long time for service – the herb butter on the lamb fillet had already completely melted, and the side dishes for both dishes were less than lukewarm – and cold fries are just yucky. The sauce for the lamb fillet pan was also very oily/greasy. We overlooked the missing salad, as it certainly wouldn't have made a difference. When the waiter cleared the table and asked the obligatory question whether we enjoyed our meal, we pointed out that the food was "cold." The explanation that it was busy is unfortunately not enough for me as a guest; after all, I'm supposed to pay full price for the meal. We would have definitely preferred a different response there, as we traveled 60 km specifically for this evening. Which brings us back to the service. On the bill, I actually found my broad beans listed as a full vegetarian dish. Unfortunately, that just about rounded off the overall picture. It's a real shame, as it wasn't our first time there. Maybe everyone was just having the worst day ever—otherwise, I can't explain the other reviews that praise the staff and the food so highly.

Filoxenia is one of those Greek restaurants where you don't just feel like a guest—you feel like a friend. As soon as you enter, you're greeted by a warm, cozy atmosphere, and the staff is attentive, warm, and genuinely friendly. We tried several dishes: For starters, we had freshly baked pita bread with tzatziki and a dreamy saganaki. For main course, we had oven-roasted lamb—wonderfully tender, full of flavor, and perfectly seasoned with Mediterranean herbs. This was accompanied by a good glass of Greek wine—and for dessert, a homemade galaktoboureko that melted in your mouth. The portions are generous, the prices are absolutely fair, and the service is quick and courteous. At the end, we even got a small ouzo or liqueur on the house—a thoughtful gesture rarely found these days. Filoxenia means hospitality—and that's exactly what this restaurant exudes. We'll definitely be back—and bring friends!

I was there for my internship. It was great. The staff are extremely friendly, and they explained everything to me really well. The food is delicious and the prices are great. I've been there many times before, and the atmosphere during meals/stays is extremely good. It's quiet, but not too quiet. You can sit outside or inside. You can park right next door. A few parking spaces are reserved, but there are plenty of empty spaces right next door. It's very child- and dog-friendly.

We went out to eat again today after a long time and a change of owner. The ambiance has changed a bit, and of course the menu. I missed one or two dishes, but the selection is still large enough. Most importantly, it was delicious; everyone enjoyed it. The waiters' attentiveness could be a bit better; you had to make yourself known to get new drinks... but they were all friendly. Keep up the good work and see you next time.

The prices are okay. Unfortunately, the meals (for three people) weren't served at the same time. Person one had finished eating when the rest arrived one by one. The menu offers chicken nuggets with fries. Next to it is a photo of nine chicken nuggets and fries on a plate. When we asked (!) the wait staff if the number of nuggets was correct, they confirmed it was. But only five were served! When we asked again what that was about, they suddenly replied, "Those are just photos." Sorry, but we feel ripped off. Especially when we specifically asked (in advance)! We ordered green beans for the main course. They were served at the same time as the nuggets. The main course arrived 12 minutes later. The beans were cold. What's up with that? The tzatziki wasn't really chilled, and the bread was already a bit dry. (Left over from the day before?) We've been eating there regularly for years, but apparently the staff or ownership has changed, which has NOT been good for the restaurant. We will return to the 5-star Greek restaurant in Markkleeberg East in the future. It was disappointing for a birthday dinner.

I was here for the first time for a family celebration. It was really great. From the staff to the menu offering, the fresh salad and the quick food preparation. Leider nicht empfehlenswert. Der Freisitz ist so eng gestellt, dass jegliche Privatsphäre dadurch nicht möglich ist, man aber am Gespräch des Nachbartisches teilhaben kann . Dazu sitzt man teilweise mit Blick auf Industriehallen. Die genossenen Speisen waren nur sehr durchschnittlich und leider nichts Besonderes. Die Kellner nur teilweise aufmerksam. Da bleibt ein Tisch schon mal längere Zeit ohne erkennbare Belastung der Bedienung unabgeräumt. Schade!

We visited the Greek restaurant "Filoxenia," which has a new owner but an old name (we often ate at the old one). Because it was quite busy, we were warned at the beginning that it might take a while, which was fine with us. Unfortunately, the appetizers were completely forgotten, and we had to reorder drinks several times because the servers kept changing and apparently our orders weren't taken. The obligatory Greek salad was minimally portioned, and the main course didn't arrive for an hour(!). If we had known that "it might take a bit longer," meaning an hour-long wait, we would have left immediately... Unfortunately, the meat was also tough, and the gyros in cream sauce (apparently no trace of Metaxa) was more reminiscent of a very sweet tomato sauce, which had little to do with authentic Greek cuisine. Overall, the experience didn't live up to the positive reviews we had read, and disappointingly, we can't recommend it.

I'm always completely satisfied! The chef himself is involved in the service and always gives his best – you notice it right away. Both he and his staff are extremely courteous, friendly, and attentive. Requests are always considered and implemented. The food is not only delicious but also served in more than adequate portions. The welcome is always warm – you simply feel welcome!

We were regular guests of the former operator. The food was always delicious, the staff was like family, everything was perfect and accommodating. Since the new operator took over the restaurant, we have been there twice. The first time, our main course was burnt and half cold. It was very crowded that day... we thought okay, anything can happen. Now the second time I got raw meat, the staff didn't react at all to my comment. An appetizer wasn't brought either, so they said we hadn't ordered anything. There was a “discussion” which we just waved off. Prices have risen and portions are getting smaller. Of course, prices have to be adjusted these days, but portion sizes and quality should not be neglected. Unfortunately, we are generally very disappointed and will not be coming back.

Yes, sometimes it's a little more chaotic than other days, we've noticed that too. But you are constantly improving and making an effort to respond to your guests' wishes, and that is the most important thing for me. You just have to give them a chance and not always compare them with the previous owner. (Prices, size of dishes, etc.) There will definitely be a reason why he gave up the restaurant, in my opinion.

The baked broccoli in Metaxa sauce was more of a soup with no real taste. Oven feta used to be much tastier. We'll look for a "new" Greek restaurant. Too bad.

In principle it's a nice atmosphere, but you shouldn't sit near the bowling alley if you want to be comfortable. Lots of staff, but the waiting time for the first drink was long, but that may have been due to the event in the house. However, this is no excuse for cold coffee or forgotten drinks. Also, the double espresso was more of a regular coffee. We were all very happy with the starters. The lamb shank was very good. But the broad beans and the Metaxa sauce were not at all what you expected.

I would like to give Filoxenia my recommendation! After registering by phone at short notice, we got a table for 6 people (+ our little dog 🐕). We were welcomed by a very nice waitress and the boss himself. The selection on the menu is typically Greek cuisine. The food itself was much better than what I'm used to at similar places!!! The "special plate" I chose consisted of several types of meat, each of which was very tasty and, above all, juicy! My five companions were also very satisfied with their selected dishes. We decided to definitely visit Filoxenia again during our week-long vacation!

We've known this restaurant for years, but now the owner has changed and the staff is new. We got a table for two without booking. The menu is new and the prices have gone up. The menu is as clear as the portions. Unfortunately, everything was very unseasoned. Of course, there's salt and pepper on the table, but that's not the point. We weren't satisfied and unfortunately won't be coming back. Unfortunately, there wasn't even any music.

We enjoyed staying at Filoxenia and were already well-respected regulars and now we wanted to get a new look after the change of operator. Yes, we received a very friendly welcome, but unfortunately we were given a table in the large hall that was not heated and only slowly became warmer as the number of guests increased. Everything was fine, I told myself there could be worse things and I read through the menu with full anticipation and noticed that the prices had only been adjusted slightly. After the round of ouzo, we were allowed to order our drinks after about 15 minutes. We then immediately ordered our appetizers and food. Two starters (tzatziki and garlic bread) were good, then we chose 4 main courses: leg of lamb with green beans, spaghetti with gyros in metaxa sauce, steak with metaxa sauce and gyro plate... We have already noticed with the delivery of drinks that the waiters were very disorganized in finding the tables where the drinks should go. This continued during the meal so that the food was tasty but the portions didn't match the price. Plus, my daughter's food came about 10 minutes later than ours. Her steak plate had a total of seven pieces of meat and the amount of meat on the gyro plate was no longer a rule of thumb, which wasn't enough for my adult son. The other two dishes were fine. When we received feedback about the food, the waiter laughed it off and said that we were the first to complain about the food. At the end we had to wait another 25 minutes until we could pay, despite having asked three times for the bill. For us, if nothing changes, it would be the last time there...

Unfortunately our visit to this restaurant was a disappointment. The food was far too little for the price, and one of our plates only arrived 10 minutes after the others. We also had to wait a full 25 minutes for the bill. The employees seemed overwhelmed, had no overview and were visibly confused. When we tried to address our concerns directly on site, they were not addressed - instead we were portrayed as the culprits. We were also deliberately made to wait until we could finally pay. The service was much better under the previous owner and the portions were also reasonable. It's a shame that the quality has deteriorated so much.
