Erbacher Brauhaus in Erbach

We had planned a Christmas dinner there for about 12 people. My colleague and I arrived early and discovered that there was no specially set table. The young waiter explained that he hadn't received confirmation of the number of guests from our office. I then stated the number of people, and two tables were pushed together. There was no Christmas decoration or table setting whatsoever. The disappointment continued with the meal: one colleague's pork knuckle was dry, as was my duck, the side dumplings came from a package, and the sauce was also a convenience product. My colleague's schnitzel with Kochkäse (a type of German cheese spread) arrived with a mixture that didn't resemble any local Kochkäse, but rather a cream cheese mixture with something else. His Spätzle (why Spätzle? Shouldn't it have been served with fries or croquettes?) was lying under the schnitzel and had apparently been left in the salamander grill or under the heat lamp for too long, so my colleague complained about the entire plate. His complaint was ignored, even when he left the entire plate unfinished. The only reaction was that the young man who had initially served our table didn't return, and instead, two younger women served us. They also ignored the complaint and, as my colleague was leaving the restaurant, even offered to pack up his uneaten schnitzel. Conclusion: not recommended for a company Christmas party. When I ate à la carte there twice in the summer of 2025, everything was fine. That's why I still gave it 3 stars; otherwise, it would have only been 2.

Fantastic. The service is attentive and the food is excellent. Even if you only come once a quarter, they remember you and make you feel welcome.

It's wonderful that places like this still exist: a traditional inn with delicious food in a cozy atmosphere! The service is friendly and fast; you simply feel at ease there. The food offers not only generous portions but also truly delicious, home-style cooking. The prices are absolutely fair!

Second time here. The goulash soup was very good again. I had Handkäs mit Musik (a type of cheese with onions and caraway seeds) once. It was awful because it was Harzer Handkäs. Nothing like the Odenwälder Handkäs. The onions and caraway seeds could definitely be improved. Today's pork knuckle with sauerkraut and fries (normally with dumplings) was good. A little more salt on the knuckle would have been great. The meat was juicy. The service was friendly but lacked wit and charm. Completely overwhelmed by the number of guests.

We came here for the first time based on the positive reviews. We had reserved a table, but were neither greeted nor welcomed. We only received a greeting after we had already sat down somewhere, which wasn't a problem for us, but from an organizational perspective, I'm used to better service in the restaurant industry. There were three of us, and one drink was forgotten—that can happen—but it took quite a while for it to arrive, even though no other tables were occupied except for a few guests at the bar. Ordering food was complicated because I asked for a non-alcoholic sauce, and the waiter seemed overwhelmed and couldn't suggest an alternative. Unfortunately, we also didn't receive a bill. On the positive side: the burger with fries was very good, and the portions were really large.

I went to eat at the Erbacher Brauhaus with my girlfriend. It was very good. The staff was very nice.

We had a reservation last night. However, we arrived an hour before our reservation time, which wasn't a problem at all. The service was very attentive, quick, and friendly. The food was excellent and plentiful. Whenever we're in Erbach, a visit to the Brauhaus is always a must.

A cozy restaurant with great and friendly staff. The schnitzel was perfect... I haven't had such a good schnitzel in a long time.

Yesterday evening, the four of us went to the brewery, hungry. It seemed quite full, which wasn't surprising given the Christmas market. We were greeted warmly and quickly seated, and our first drink order arrived promptly. However, we then waited a full 90 (!) minutes for our food without receiving any updates. Empty glasses were ignored, as were three other guests who were completely disregarded for 20 minutes before leaving. My salad and rump steak were good, the steak cooked to a perfect medium. The two schnitzels, however, looked rather uninspired and were sparsely garnished with sauce. Overall, this experience doesn't exactly encourage a return visit, and the cozy atmosphere couldn't compensate for it. It seemed as though they were understaffed, even though the young waiter was clearly trying his best – a friendly word at the beginning might have helped. Well, unfortunately, I can't recommend it.

Since the change of ownership, this was our first time back there with our regular group in years. The food is truly excellent, the service is very friendly and welcoming, and the ambiance and charming decor complete the experience. We will definitely be back.

Today, the two of us went to the brewery for lunch for the first time as "tourists passing through," on the recommendation of someone, presumably from Erbach. Everything was as promised: pleasant ambiance, very polite and courteous staff, food freshly prepared – nothing from a microwave; simply delicious; and reasonable value for money. Take your time and stop by the brewery!

Three of us went to the brewery today for dinner. Everyone ordered something different, and all three were delicious, with very generous portions. We especially recommend the beef roulades, as they're rarely found on the menu at other restaurants. The service was excellent, and we really enjoyed the rustic ambiance. We'll definitely be back.

We had baked potatoes with a really well-made green sauce and breaded Jägerschnitzel with spaetzle. The spaetzle were even better than the ones we were served in Swabia. The only thing I wish was the drinks service was a bit faster. But all in all, it was a good day.

I love the Erbacher Brauhaus. It's a shame they no longer serve Erbacher beer in bottles. In the summer, sitting on the terrace, you get a holiday feeling. And the quality of the food is top-notch. Highly recommended

We went there for dinner with our grandparents, and not only they, but we too, were thrilled by the huge portions and the wonderful quality of the food. The price-performance ratio is reasonable. The ambiance is reminiscent of a good German inn and is beautifully decorated. The service was also exceptionally friendly, and overall, the brewery in Erbach is highly recommended and worth a visit, even if you're traveling from a bit further afield.

I was very impressed today. They had a great salad and a very good hunter's schnitzel. The junior schnitzel is something different and highly recommended. Service is excellent, and everything is fresh.

I can't understand some of the reviews. We didn't have to wait long for our drinks or food. The interior and exterior areas weren't dirty, and there weren't any old food or cutlery lying around. The tables were clean and were cleaned immediately after each guest. If there wasn't enough cutlery at the table, it was refilled immediately. Our food was seasoned the way we wanted it, according to our request. The green peppercorn sauce didn't taste run-of-the-mill or store-bought. And for all those complaining that it's no longer a brewery: there is no longer an "Erbacher Brewery" in all of Erbach. It now belongs to the Radeberger Group, and Erbacher beer is brewed elsewhere... Our conclusion: we will eat there again anytime. The value for money is excellent.

We landed here by chance and were lured by the terrace. A very nice spot! The garden furniture seemed a bit unstable, so we sat still so nothing could happen. (No, we don't weigh 150 kilos!) The service, although it wasn't very busy, was somewhat off-key and seemed overwhelmed. We find it unpleasant when different waiters come to the table and then discuss uncertainties or mishaps in front of the guests. It should be done "in the background." After a minor mishap, we found the food very good. I ordered a schnitzel with green sauce. Unfortunately, it was sprinkled with coarse pepper, which I don't like at all and it's actually not customary to do that. It's better to leave the pepper on the table. One small thing that was forgotten: salt and pepper! I sent the schnitzel back and was quickly brought a new one, presumably the same one, stripped of pepper and briefly fried again. I was hungry, so I took it as it was, and it tasted very good with the green sauce. The sun was blazing, and we asked twice for the parasol to be opened. As mentioned, it wasn't busy...so the service wasn't good. The ambiance leaves a lot to be desired. Everything on the terrace is very functional and unloved. I can't comment on the interior, except that it seemed kitschy and very dark when walking through. Renovating the garden furniture, adding a few flowers to the tables, and putting nice napkins would make the whole place look much more inviting and cozy. They're cutting corners here. Overall, we weren't dissatisfied, and there's still plenty of room for improvement. The location alone isn't enough! A superbly beautiful and beautifully renovated historic brewery. The location is also fantastic—a terrace right on the Schlossplatz. Good German cuisine and very friendly service.

We were here all four evenings we were in Erbach. The outdoor seating was lovely. The food was very varied, delicious, and attractively presented. The Kaiserschmarrn was good for a non-Alpine region, but a bit too dark. The fried potatoes were also a bit too dark. The burger and fries were surprisingly small, but the schnitzel was enormous.

The restaurant is okay. The staff are very attentive and friendly. The food was delicious. The price/performance ratio was good. When the weather is nice, you can sit outside and enjoy the Mümling beer. And the bar in the brewery is non-smoking. Great!

Four of us went there for dinner yesterday. Unfortunately, we had two unpleasant incidents: When the food was served, my mother discovered a black hair in her sauce. We immediately informed the waiter, who apologized. Towards the end of the meal, my aunt also found another black hair in her dish. That was very unpleasant and unfortunately significantly spoiled the overall experience. With two hairs in the food, we would have at least hoped for a more accommodating approach from the restaurant. Not recommended.

I agree with the last review. The food was good, but the service was much too slow. I would have ordered another drink myself if the waiter had come. We had to go inside to pay, which definitely needs to be changed. I had the salad with rump steak, but it wasn't worth €18.00. Some of my plate was just green leaf lettuce.

The food was incredibly delicious. We had the Jäger-style schnitzel. It was a huge portion, we could barely finish it. It was delicious, and the location right on the water is excellent. I'd love to come back and recommend it to everyone. The prices are reasonable 😀

The location is great, the food is excellent. The portions are large, and you'll definitely be full. The lemon sauce on the salmon is more of a cream sauce, but it was still good. The cocktails were okay, but I recommend sticking with the draft beer ;)

Beautiful brewery with good food and a wide selection of beers. Quaint inside, beautiful outside, opposite the castle and along the Mümling River. Very relaxing and pleasant with beautifully planted beds. The service is very attentive; I would have only added a little more salt to the food (but I can do that myself). Whenever we're in Erbach, we always come here. You can sit outside in the lovely beer garden with a view of the castle or inside in the historic dining room. The food was okay. The service is very slow; it can take up to 30 minutes for tables to be cleared; our second order for a drink was forgotten.

Today we went to the brewery, sat outside and had lunch. The pork knuckle was very good. The meat was buttery tender, you could easily remove the bones and the skin was very crispy. The dumplings and sauerkraut were also very tasty. There was also a delicious non-alcoholic wheat beer. The atmosphere outside by the stream is wonderful. Service surprisingly fast despite Mother's Day. Food is very inexpensive compared to the Rhine-Neckar district. People like to eat there.

The food tasted good, but the meat was very tough. Service only upon request and friendliness only after paying with thanks and goodbye. The ambience is very nice and appealing, but there are several restaurants around the castle.

The service is nice, the ambience is pure and expected. The schnitzel itself (meat) was super tender. But: The fried potatoes were quite fatty. And what was the Obergau for me: the Kochkäs-Schnitzel. That was the worst cooked cheese schnitzel I've ever eaten. Not the meat, as I said, it was super tender. But that was more of a schnitzel gratinated with two types of cheese and far from what you expect when you order a Kochkäs schnitzel in the Odenwald. You should eat that somewhere else.

Food ambience everything perfect

Food is edible but nothing special. There were lots of weeds on the patio. The ashtray on the table was still full of trash from previous guests. Unfortunately, the young gentleman working as a waitress was wearing a very dirty shirt and complained to an older lady because she repeatedly asked something. So there is still a lot of potential for improvement here

Super, very good food, extremely nice staff

A man in service on Saturday lunchtime, but he handled it very well and calmly. The food is hearty and typical of the area. Tastes excellent. Our dogs were also welcome. But be careful in the entrance area: the two doors open towards each other!

Highly recommended. Good food, timely location. Price performance fits, except for the schnapps, which are a little too expensive.

Have been there a few times now and each time the food has been very good. The staff was also attentive and friendly. We will definitely go back if the opportunity arises. Only the ambience doesn't quite suit my taste. Still overall 5/5 👍🏻

Wonderfully rustic atmosphere. There were 6 of us there and we were all full, but all of us enjoyed it very well. The service is very friendly and also child-friendly. All in all, great value for money, would love to come back.

Centrally located, the “Erbacher Brauhaus” is very easy to reach on foot. Already at the reception you can feel the quiet friendliness of the host family. Despite the visible popularity around the most popular meal time, the attentive courteousness of all service staff remained constant. Therefore, and especially because our four-legged friend was immediately welcome, we felt very comfortable in the rustic atmosphere. The menu had several options for every taste. Vegetarian, meat-heavy, vegan and all under the seal of home-style cooking. After a pleasantly short wait, the food arrived fresh, at a good temperature and deliciously prepared. Extra requests were made possible with a smile (so we were able to enjoy a sample of the very tasty chutney. Completely balanced and a great accompaniment to the baked potato. Thanks again for that!). The price for the rather large portions of meat, crisp salads, crispy fried potatoes and delicious sauces was completely reasonable and was happily paid. Conclusion: For us, the concept of the “Brauhaus” is coherent and definitely worth recommending.

The food is excellent and, depending on what you order, also generous. The service could be friendlier. Card payments are possible from 15 euros, but the reader appears to have a very unstable connection to the server. The payment feels like it takes forever or is canceled. It's better to take enough cash with you.

The schnitzel group in our group was completely satisfied. The portions are large and everyone enjoyed them. The burgers didn't go down all that well. But all in all the visit was worth it.

The service is great and the food is ready quickly and inexpensive. We drive an hour here and it's always worth it. There are plenty of parking spaces and you don't have to wait long. There are many different dishes and enough choice for everyone. Big praise to the nice people in service and the kitchen.

The selection of ingredients and the preparation of dishes should improve. The cleanliness of the heavily frequented areas must be maintained during operation.

The brewery staff was overwhelmed and the kitchen couldn't deliver. We had reserved a table for 8:00 p.m. At 10:30 p.m. there was still no food. They couldn't tell us when it was coming either. We had to leave without food in order to catch our train. When we paid for the drinks we were treated very unfriendly by the staff. This restaurant is NOT recommended.
