A particularly great experience which was significantly rounded off by the sommelier and especially by the guard manager. Such a nice greeting from the kitchen, with the same staff, I always enjoy visiting this great restaurant.

Best Italian restaurant in Berlin, the pasta and the wine were wow

I will never eat here again!!!!! I felt very uncomfortable as a woman. The service person was extremely pushy and asked me very personal questions. First he asked me if I was Iranian, then he asked me why I was eating alone, then he asked me where I lived, whether I lived in the area, he said he would see me often. That statement alone was very frightening. Then he asked me again what my nationality was. After I answered him twice that I was German, he still didn't accept it. Afterwards he asked me what I thought, what nationality he was, I really couldn't care less if he hadn't pressed his face into mine and aggressively asked me to answer, the distance on his part and the emotional intelligence 0 was given here, how can one not understand from my posture that I felt uncomfortable. After 2-3 seconds he himself said that he was Turkish, to which I replied, yes, you can see it. His answer, not at all, I speak Italian fluently. Afterwards he made a statement, say, Turkish men are the most beautiful, or, after I said, not my taste, he just shouted, run to you. I'm really wondering what went wrong, I felt extremely uncomfortable just saying that, what I'm doing here alone. I mean, I don't have to justify myself if I want to eat alone and spend money. How can you employ someone like that in the catering industry? Extremely out of place, the behavior was so unpleasant and inappropriate. The food was good, but if you're bothered and can't enjoy the food, unfortunately it's no use. And to be honest, my parents are also from Turkey, but that doesn't give him the right to grill me like that!! Distance please!

A very nice restaurant that is very centrally located. Super nice staff with a warm smile on their faces. No matter what we ate (starter, entrée, main dish and deserts), everything was very tasteful and prepared with love. The white wine is very aromatic and absolutely well tempered. Attentive staff. All in all a very nice evening in the center of Berlin. We would like to come again.

Beautifully located restaurant in a relaxed atmosphere. We were “just” there for a wine. Some waiters are really too arrogant for me. We definitely didn't like the service. I just want to feel welcome as a guest. It doesn't matter to me whether I eat sumptuously or drink a good glass of wine.

I've been to Il Calice several times. I haven't been disappointed in the past either. Now I had ordered lamb. It was just greasy. My objection to the service was commented on by saying that they had just changed the card. Is that a reason for poor quality? No further accommodation. Even though the two of us had eaten for well over €200. There are also other good restaurants in the future.

Unfortunately a huge disappointment. The wine was ok. The food was bad.. we had a carbonara with no taste and soggy guanciale. The white asparagus we had as a starter were raw. I can’t recommend this place at all.

Food was good but main waitresses were super weird 😅 super uninterested, barely kind. You don’t expect such an attitude in this kind of environment …

What a wonderful evening. Once again. Time flies - with "Bragato" my journey through time of enjoyment began; Back then it was still on Giesebrechtstrasse. Back then, it was the 90s. We tried many great wines again and took them with us. The owner of Il Calice/Fam. Bragato also makes remarkable wines. At this point it should be noted that the food was also quite good 😅. No, it was absolutely wonderful - from the beginning to the flower pot that contained one of the best tiramisu in the city. Authentic Italian cuisine is constantly reinterpreted using the best ingredients and simply good. It's a great place to sit here, both in summer and winter, and let the friendly and attentive staff accompany you through the evening. Summer is a special highlight because Walter-Benjamin-Platz is simply incredibly beautiful to sit on. Warm summer nights are sometimes made unforgettable by live music at Il Calice. Anyone who likes good wine should definitely stop by the wine bar at Il Calice. Many wines, including absolute top wines, are served on a regular basis. It goes without saying that the wines here are at the right temperature - including the red ones. But don't be surprised if your stay lasts until late in the evening, because people simply like to linger here. Cin Cin!

By invitation for the first time at Il Calice. With the rating from the restaurant guide “Menu” from the city magazine TIP, there was also anticipation. According to the restaurant guide, one of the best Italians in the city. To put it bluntly: That's definitely not him! The ambience and the level of service are definitely suitable for a noble Italian restaurant, but unfortunately the food is not. All the dishes were good, but didn't have any surprising, individual style. And a long way away from “fine dining”. Grilled savoy cabbage came dry on the plate with a few spices. (Choice as a side dish or starter) The green asparagus was perfectly cooked, but the sauce had no kick. According to the menu, the carbonara should be deeply aromatic and exciting. The taste was good, but nothing like that was recognizable. The service was nice, but could have been a little more attentive in such an atmosphere, especially since the restaurant was only half full. Great attention is paid to the music. It's a matter of taste, but the volume is more in line with the adjacent bar, but too loud for the restaurant. Our conclusion: Fortunately, we have enough really first-class restaurants in Berlin and don't need to eat out here again.

Ich gehe immer wieder gerne ins II Calice. Ob mit Kunden oder abends um den Tag mit einem guten Essen , tolles Ambiente und sehr gutem Service ausklingen zu lassen. Die Qualität der Lebensmittel sowie die Zubereitung unübertrefflich gut. Dazu werden Weine vom Personal fachlich und sehr passend zur Wahl des Essens ausgewählt und empfohlen. II Calice immer wieder !!!!! Alles Gute weiterhin für die Crew !!

In memory of an old school friend's big birthday, I was invited to dinner in this modern, feudal-looking restaurant on January 27th, 2024. A plate of varied Frutti di Mare and different types of fish as a starter - a treat for the eyes in itself - triggered tingling feelings of pleasure and good taste in the palate. This entrée impressively confirmed to me that Italian cuisine can be considered one of the best in the world. The male waiter, who was largely responsible for our table service, never tired of explaining in detail the secrets of the preparation and consistency of the dishes. An absolute highlight was my carbonara dish with handmade pasta, generously dipped in a strong, creamy sauce. In any case, it was so filling that dessert was no longer available on site, so we simply took some delicious tiramisu home with us for a midnight snack. The wine recommendations for the individual courses were also commendable; they rounded off the dinner to an absolutely successful evening! I'd be happy to come back!

I split the superdegustazione and a bottle of wine with my partner and had a most excellent time. The music was really fun, I loved the atmosphere and the service was great. My biggest regret was not ordering the negroni sooner - so good!

Ich war gestern dort mit meinem Sohn unser Geburtstag nach gefeiert. Das Essen war 👍und Service von Mitarbeitern. Die Lautstärke von Musik 🎶war ok dass wir noch unterhalten konnten. Wir haben den Geburtstag unserer Tochter hier gefeiert; phänomenaler Abend; exzellentes Essen, außerordentlich guter Service , sehr entspannte und angenehme Stimmung (an diesem Abend Live Musik mit DJ) und ausgezeichnete Weine perfekt temperiert. Tischdeko passt und muss nicht extra bestellt werden 😉. Preis/Leistung absolut stimmig. Jederzeit gerne wieder.

We really enjoyed the experience at Il Calice :) we got a table on a Saturday evening without a reservation (lucky) and had a lovely service and food was amazing, carefully crafted and very tasty. Portions were just right and the carrot cake for the dessert was a star! :) Music was a touch too loud, there was a bit of distortion coming out from sound speakers which was not pleasant to the ear. Maybe it’s just the Saturday DJ thing :)

Küche wirklich gut, Service in der Regel in Ordnung. Der Sohn des Inhabers hat allerdings mehrfach durch die chinesischen Gäste hindurchgeschaut und den Tisch schlichtweg ignoriert, um dann nach Ansprache an der Bar zu drohen, man solle es nicht noch einmal "wagen, die Stimme zu erheben". Dann Probierschluck aus neuer Flasche in benutztes - und noch einen Rest enthaltendes - Weinglas eingeschenkt und darüber diskutiert, doch vielleicht mal ein neues Glas zu bringen. Keine Entschuldigung erhalten.

Good. Carbonara needs to have more egg; it should not have cream but it was only a small amount, so still good. Octopus was good. Posh interior and service.

Essen war teilweise sehr gut. Preise sehr hoch. Weine auch eher ab 70€ aufwärts die Flasche zu haben. Service gut. Location sehr schön.

Das bestellte Essen kam nicht, dafür ein Pastagericht mit sehr überschaubarem Wareneinsatz, es wurde nach mehrfacher Intervention und wortreicher Diskussion dann von der Rechnung gestrichen. Bekannt war italienische Gastfreundschaft jetzt herrscht ein anderer Ton.

Hier passen der eigener Anspruch des Inhabers und die Wirklichkeit sehr gut zusammen. Austern in Top-Qualität, das Steak auf den Punkt gebraten und als Nachtisch ein wirklich kreatives Tiramisu. Und dazu eine hervorragende Weinkarte. Für dieses Niveau ein sehr guter Preis

It was really nice, good food and nice wine. I found the wine pairing a bit poor though, half glasses and no refills. But the food and atmosphere where very good.

Essen durchschnittlich aber absolut überteuert. Service nicht sehr aufmerksam. Ambiente schön. Waren früher öfters dort aber jetzt wirklich keine Empfehlung mehr wert.

Ok, wir sprechen hier von vermeintlich gehobener Gastronomie. Ich würde den Service mal als „hemdsärmelig“ bezeichnen. Andere nennen ihn vielleicht oberflächlich und eingebildet. Wie komme ich darauf? Wir, drei Personen, bestellen Vorspeise (in der Karte für 2 Personen, wollten aber diese für 3 Personen erweitert haben). Nun, das entspricht wohl nicht den internen Prozessen. Wenn etwas für zwei Personen in der Karte steht, dann ist das so. Uns wird erklärt, dass die Vorspeise so ausgiebig ist, dass das auch für drei reicht. Wir denken uns, dass wir das wohl selbst beurteilen können, fügen uns aber. Aber: Selten so verstörende Aussagen des Service gehört. Sind wir hier am Kebab-Stand? Bestellung der Hauptspeisen: Zweimal rib eye, einmal Risotto bitte. Das Risotto wird in der Karte als Speise für eine Person angeboten. Bekomme ich nicht. Begründung: Der Koch will nicht Risotto für nur eine Person kochen. Das geht ein paar Mal hin und her, solange, bis ich auf die Hauptspeise verzichte. Der Kellner nimmt das zur Kenntnis. Hier ist der Kunde nur Nummer 2 - Chef ist ganz klar der Koch, vor dem wohl alle Angst haben. Ob der Koch weiß, dass ich sein Gehalt bezahle? Wohl nicht. Ich frage mich, wie man Kundenorientierung hier definiert, was die Mitarbeiter hier antreibt, dass die Wünsche der Gäste absolut nicht berücksichtigt werden. Es geht weiter: Nach ein paar Minuten kommt der Service wieder (gut trainierter junger Mann) und bittet zwar um Verzeihung, bietet aber keine Alternative an. Und schon gar keine Lösung. Ideal wäre: Ich würde einfach das erhalten, was in dieser Speisekarte steht: Risotto Limone e Gamberi. Schließlich erklärt sich einer meiner Begleiter (Business Termin) bereit, auch das Risotto zu nehmen, damit wir endlich eine doppelte Portion bekommen, damit die Küche aus das kocht, was die zahlenden Kunden wollen. Nach ein paar Minuten kommt das Essen: Das Risotto ist ein Witz, optisch sieht es aus wie Müller Milchreis, wirklich schrecklich. Geschmacklich: Ein purer Reinfall, schmeckt, als wenn man in eine Zitrone beißen würde. Der Zitronengeschmack ist derart intensiv, dass es noch Stunden später im Mund brennt. Darauf angesprochen meint der Kellner nur, dass das die persönliche Note des Kochs ist. Meine Empfehlung: Lieber Service dieses „Restaurants“: Bitte kostet doch selbst mal diesen „sauren Reis“, dann wisst Ihr wovon ich hier berichte. Fazit: Service und Küche würde ich eher null Sterne geben. Ich kann einen Besuch nicht empfehlen.

Un calice di ottimo Valpolicella. Calice molto misero, ordinato: quando sono comodi i ragazzi, servito: poco ma immediatamente dopo la richiesta, per pagare: ti devi alzare tu se no arrivano il giorno dopo. Peccato. Bell’ambiente, vini ricercati, solo il servizio …. Sei tu che aspetti! A loro non importa molto…. Bello però. Da guardare e basta.

Leider ein enttäuschender Besuch. Frito Misto wurde von undefinierbaren, pampigen Saucen begleitet. Der Service war eher lustlos, sofern sichtbar. Die Pasta war ok. die Weinkarte vielversprechend. Ich werde nicht mehr kommen.

Update : September ‘23: ok now this place is AWFUL!!! We went there for our anniversary and Wow how its degenerated! Pasta was salted twice. The menu has basically no real options and the red wine by the glass was all vinegary expensive rubbish!! 130eur for a 2 person rubbish meal. Go elsewhere in my opinion. Il calice is a High End modern Italian restaurant. Apart from the owners no one is Italian but the food is suuuuperb. Really awesome. Even the lids basic tomato spaghetti was incredibly carefully done. Extra recommended. Maybe a tad pricey but Hey you cant take Money with you into the after life…. Enjoy it !

I came here as 1 year ago we had a very good experience. Now this place is awful. The pasta was triple salted. The red wine by the glass un drinkable and pricey The choices very limited. Totally avoid.

Sehr exquisites Restaurant! Die Atmosphäre überzeugt sofort. Ein elegantes Innendesign, der überragende Service und eine tolle Lage laden sind nur der Anfang der Liste mit grandiosen Eigenschaften des Restaurants. Ich kam zum Lunch und kann neben der Lasagne besonders den Espresso mit Vanilleeis empfehlen! Hier komme ich definitiv wieder und kann es wärmstens empfehlen!

Food is good but small portions especially compared to the price (€20 for straters and €30 for mains). The service level is really low compared to the price you pay there. They offer you small aperitif (and don't tell you how much it costs) and it costs €14 per glass (0.1l). The waiter was so in a hurry that he ordered us a different dish than we ordered and didn't admit he made a mistake. Overall it would have been fine if the atmosphere and service were as in a chef restaurant but in a Döner place the service is better.

Es war ein wunderbarer Abend. Köstliches Essen, freundliche Bedienung. Ein Sommerabend auf dem Platz sitzend, fast magisch. Immer wenn wir in Berlin sind, gibt es einen Abend im Il Calice. Das seit vielen Jahren. Wir wurden noch nie enttäuscht.

Wir hatten ein Firmenessen mit 6 Personen und hatten einen schönen großen Tisch im Außenbereich. Das Personal war sehr nett und aufmerksam. Vorspeisen waren sehr reichlich, schön angerichtet und haben sehr gut geschmeckt. Hauptspeisen waren größtenteils auch sehr gut, leider war das Kalb mit Kräuterkruste nur lauwarm und sehr geschmacksneutral. Ein gelungener Abend war es aber alle Male!

A special place in Berlin- Charlottenburg. Excellent food, wine and service. Not really low prices, but it is worth it!

Ich bin zunächst durch den Livestream von Verena und Wallace auf dieses Restaurant aufmerksam geworden. Ich kann mit Worten nicht beschreiben, wie beeindruckt ich von den Speisen und dem Service bin. Selten durfte ich eine solch erlesene Auswahl an Weinen erleben, die so treffend zu den Gängen gereicht wurden. Eine Expertise des Sommerliers folgte der nächsten, alles war perfekt. Gerne wieder! Und Danke auch an Wallace und Verena, ohne die wir diese Perle nie entdeckt hätten.

Restaurant Empfehlung kam von einem Freund - sehr gutes Essen, gute Weinkarte und sehr freundlicher und fachkundiger Service! Nach dem Besuch am Donnerstag waren wir am Samstag - mit Family - wieder da!!

One of the staff which couple times refilled wine said that we are Russian, no matter that we explained that we are not and our language is not Russian. Thats the only thing which dissapointed us. Our main waiter was perfect.

It is a really nice place. I think eating outside is the best option at least you prefer more quiet environment. The service it is amazing ! The food is also amazing !!!

The salad was tasty but quite small for the price. The bread was delicious and had to eat him all since the portions were quite small for the price. The pasta del pepe came with lots of pepper but not really permeasan flavor. The shrimp that were promised looked like leftovers from some fish , they were hacked and didn’t taste well. Overall paying more than 100 euro for 2 for those dishes didn’t worth the price. The atmosphere is beautiful . The Italian girls were very friendly. Our Italian waiter was very rude and unfriendly. It Ofcourse totally ruined the mood.

Il Calice schafft es, in der Stadt der unzähligen italienischen Restaurants deutlich herauszustechen. Nicht nur sind die Zutaten, wie zum Bsp die Meeresfrüchte, auf der kleinen weil ausgewählten Karte von höchster Qualität und mit viel Detailverliebtheit und Knowhow zubereitet, auch der Service ist herzlich und kompetent. Man sitzt auf der großzügigen Terrasse am Walter-Benjamin-Platz ohne Autolärm, auch das eine Seltenheit in Berlin. Kompliment an das Team, das war definitiv nicht das letzte Mal.

Tolles, italienisches Restaurant mit sehr leckereren italienischen Gerichten. Sehr schmackhafter Mittagstisch. Leider Punktabzug durch die Bedienung, die die bestellte Cola 0,4 l als "extra groß" wertet und so meint zweimal abbrechen zu müssen (somit für eine große Cola 9 Euro, really??) . Schade, hat der Laden bei dem tollen Essen eigentlich gar nicht nötig.

so, I chose this location for my girlfriend's birthday. we ordered the menu degustazione, tajiere variazione di mare. the quality was quite good, however, overprices in my opinion. the dishes were good, few of them amazing even. However, I got pretty disappointed as on the menu was written that we would have also octopus alla Luciana and sardellen, which we did not receive at the end. I would suggest you to update the online menu or to reduce the prices for the dish as I've found it quite dishonest. Final comments, I recommend you to go but don't order variazione di mare

Ein wunderbarer Ort. Ich durfte ihn zum Mittagessen genießen. Ein gehobener Italiener, wie er im Buche steht. Doppelte weiße Tischdecke, Riedel-Gläser, Pellegrino-Wasser. Ein sehr guter glasweiser Ausschank. Die Preise sind hoch. Aber ich zahle gerne etwas mehr für wirklich klasse Weine. Das Essen ist in Ordnung. Das Brot war noch lauwarm, das Olivenöl wunderbar. Der Service dürfte etwas aufmerksamer sein. Alles in allem komme ich gerne wieder.

Плохой сервис, невкусно, дорого, вино не соответствует цене, обслуга неуважительная, официанты неадекватные, неуважительные, все продукты с Lidl.

Ganz schlimmer Service- wir hatten einen Tisch reserviert, haben Essen und Wein bestellt. Obwohl wir noch saßen und gegessen haben, hat der Kellner angefangen zu schreien wir sollen den Tisch frei machen, da er den Tisch sofort braucht. Wir hatten eine Rechnung von 200 Euro. Das ist so eine Unverschämtheit, wir konnten nicht zu Ende trinken und nicht zu Ende essen, obwohl es drum herum freie Tisch gab. Wir empfehlen dieses Restaurant nicht, keine Atmosphäre ist vorhanden und schlimmster Service in ganz Berlin.

Der Platz ist schön - die Preise für Essen und Getränke auf Klappstühlen zum Teil unverschämt. Ein Toast mit Schinken und Käse kostet 8€ (!), ein kleines Bier 4€. Auch wenn das Ambiente leicht an den Markusplatz in Venedig erinnert, rechtfertigt das nicht entsprechende Preise im letztendlichen Biergarten.

Essen war für die preis Kategorie eher mittelmäßig. Dafür war es sehr schnell, der Platz mit den Regenschirmen ist wunderschön im Sommer und der Service war auch top.

Italian food at its best! Wir werden regelmäßig von der Finesse, dem Ambiente und der Qualität angezogen und wurden nie, aber auch nie enttäuscht! Egal ob Business Lunch, Mittagessen zu Zweit, Dinner oder der Special Trüffel Abend mit Freunden in großer Runde - immer perfekt! Dazu hervorgegangene Weinauswahl! Gute Speisen und immer neue Kreationen, persönlicher freundlicher Service und ein tolles Ambiente (innen wie außen) in unvergleichlicher Lage!

Sehr freundlicher Service und viel leckeres Essen. Die Portionen sind etwas kleiner und der Preis ist gehobener. Wenn man sich mal etwas gönnen will, ist das ein tolles Restaurant.

Bin sehr gerne zum Aperitif trinken hier. Man sitzt einfach unglaublich schön und die Kinder können sich auf dem Platz austoben! Der Rosso Bianco Sbagliato Aperitif von der kleinen Bar draußen ist der Wahnsinn!

Super schön im Sommer um draußen zu sitzen. Essen ist gut,Portionsgrößen sind unterirdisch und Preise sind nicht gerechtfertigt, deshalb 1 Stern Abzug.
