Engelmannsbäke Landgasthof in Großenkneten

I'll try to keep this brief. We went on a two-day bike tour with 18 people. As planned, we concluded it successfully and wonderfully at the Engelmannsbäke. We had already thought about our food preferences in advance and ordered them in consultation. The table had already been set for us inside. Upon our arrival, we had the desire to sit outside in this glorious weather, which we politely expressed to the young gentleman who welcomed us on behalf of the Engelmannsbäke. He reluctantly agreed to this request, but only on the condition that no tables or chairs be put together so we could sit together for a while. It would have been nice... long story short. Everything was great, the two young ladies serving were super nice and customer-friendly. But the gentleman who apparently had something to say here wasn't exactly hospitable. I'll overlook the fact that he addresses the guest informally, but when he says to my wife "That idiot belongs to you" I'm lost for words... a shame.

The food and service were excellent.

The restaurant was unfortunately closed. But it was a lovely place to hike or explore by bike. There was a cupboard with fresh eggs. Six eggs cost €2.40, or 40 cents per egg. You can put the exact change in a cash box. The eggs were delicious.

We enjoyed lunch outside. There's plenty of seating in the shade. The kids have a variety of options for playing. The view of the pond, surrounded by the beautiful farm buildings, and the good food—what more could you want? The service was also excellent.

Very upscale property with great ambience

A truly beautiful place to stop, surrounded by nature with delicious food and friendly staff. We arrived at 1:45 p.m. Lunch is actually served until 2:00 p.m., but we were able to order and thoroughly enjoyed the generous portions. It's a short drive (10 minutes) off the highway to get there, but for such a lovely place, that's no problem!

The park-like garden is beautiful, the food was delicious, the service was casual, yet friendly and attentive, and the price was right. The menu is small but excellent. We had Wiener Schnitzel with creamed mushrooms and sea bass fillet with chanterelles. It's not exactly cheap, but the taste is definitely worth it. Today won't be our last visit! 😊

It was truly lovely; the coffee and waffles and strawberry cake were excellent and truly delicious! Highly recommended, and we'd love to come back! ♥️♥️♥️

Unfortunately, lunch isn't available after 2 p.m., unfortunately, it's not mentioned anywhere 😕 We had to continue on hungry...

Ein toller Außenbereich, so richtig zum wohlfühlen. Dann noch Servicekräfte, die nicht nur freundlich und geduldig sind sondern auch sehr humorvoll mit den Gästen umgehen. Wir waren schwer beeindruckt. Die Getränkebestellung wurde zügig umgesetzt und die sehr überschaubare Speisekarte ließ vermuten, dass alles, zumindest das Meiste auch wirklich frisch zubereitet wird. Wir wurden nicht enttäuscht. Es war schön angerichtet und hat sehr gut geschmeckt. Wir sind mehr als nur zufrieden dann wieder gegangen und haben beschlossen, das war nur der erste Besuch und sicher nicht der letzte.

A very nice country inn, also wonderful for outdoor seating, with seating overlooking the small lake. The terrace was well-divided with the table groups, and there was plenty of space between the tables. We had the dish with falafel and grilled vegetables and a steak dish, also with grilled vegetables, served with hash browns. We started with a very good cream of asparagus soup, which accompanied every dish. All the dishes were very well prepared and extremely delicious! The service was very friendly, attentive, and quick. We can absolutely recommend this restaurant!

Cozy facility with excellent cuisine, friendly service

I found a restaurant on the way to the highway. It was a great choice. The taste, environment and price are all worth 5🌟. It is also open on Sundays👍

Picturesquely situated in the forest, it features a large pond, two children's playgrounds, and plenty of opportunities to relax indoors or outdoors. The food is delicious, and the staff are very attentive and always up for a laugh.

Yesterday, I was hiking near the restaurant with my husband. Since we'd never seen the restaurant before, I just wanted to walk up to the "Private Party" sign to take a look at the lake and the grounds—not to go in or disturb anyone, but simply because I was interested in what it looked like. Unfortunately, an employee (middle-aged, gray hair, glasses) turned me away in an extremely rude tone with a curt "No"—without any explanation, without another word, without any decorum. This behavior was truly inappropriate and left me speechless at first. I'm absolutely aware that a private party means you can't go there—and I didn't want to. But they could have simply said that in a friendly manner. A brief "Sorry, today is a private event" would have been perfectly sufficient. Instead, I was treated as if I'd done something wrong, even though I approached respectfully and carefully. That's not how you treat people. Especially in the restaurant industry, a certain basic tone of politeness should be a given. The waiter's behavior not only completely overreacted, but also left a very off-putting impression. It was simply disrespectful – and that should be addressed.

A truly recommendable cafe and restaurant. Delicious coffee and cake, great staff, and a stunning ambiance! We felt very comfortable there!

Discovered by chance while passing through. Very well-maintained, large facility, certainly beautiful if the weather cooperates. We enjoyed a very tasty lunch in a very well-kept rustic atmosphere. The portions were huge and the price/performance ratio was right! Very nice service, everything really good.

Great. Got off the highway for lunch and found this country inn. Warm welcome. Very good and competent service. The food was great. Of course asparagus when it's in season. If you are in the area, you should definitely stop here.

Everything is just right here!!!! There is a good reason why I am a regular guest at this beautiful country inn with a wonderful ambience. The staff is always friendly and always has a kind word for the guests. The food, prepared by the chef himself, is an absolute culinary delight! Not to mention the delicious tarts and cakes that the boss herself makes and are very, very tasty! Thank you very much and I look forward to my next visit to the Landgasthof Engelmannsbäke!!!!

Great country café in a rustic atmosphere. If the weather is nice you can also sit outside.

A wonderful location for weddings with a fantastic outdoor area and right on the floodplain. Was booked here as a DJ for a smaller family celebration in the winter garden. Ralph Engelmann and his service team make many things possible, are very helpful and always have an open ear. The food tasted wonderful and was very filling. The service was very friendly, prompt and accommodating. The cooperation with service, kitchen and DJ was very good professional / smooth. We were invited to a celebration there. Regular operations were closed for the day so that the entire restaurant only contained the closed company. The ambience is simply fantastic. The seating options by the lake have a fantastic view. The guest room itself is designed with a lot of love, rustic with farmhouse charm and yet kept modern. We are excited. The food was also simply great. Especially with larger quantities, a piece of meat quickly becomes tough and the vegetables overcooked. Not here. Everything was simply delicious and on point. We would like to come again. The room rating is also asked for in the rating, but that doesn't exist. The farm is purely a catering business.

Eine sehr schöne Umgebung, leider nicht so viel Personal. Auf Grund der heutigen Lage. Aber unsere Bedingungen war sehr freundlich. 💁‍♀️ 🥰

Wunderschön gelegen. Viele Sitzgelegenheiten draußen und herrlich zum spazieren und entdecken. Lohnenswert. Für die Kinder Gelegenheit zum Spielen. Das Essen war sehr lecker. Ambiente drinnen etwas veraltet aber zweckmäßig. Es war dort sehr schön.

Sehr gepflegte Außenanlage. Leckere Kuchen. Das Restaurant befindet sich in einem sehr schönen Waldgelände. Es lohnt sich also vor dem Essen, Kaffee oder Kuchen ein schöner Spaziergang. ...So kommt auch der Hund 🐕 zu seinem Spaß!

Sehr freundliches Personal und super leckeres Essen, welches alles frisch zubereitet wurde. Feiern bis in die Morgenstunden kein Problem:) Am Tag danach nochmals da gewesen zum Kaffee & Kuchen. Auch hier sehr guter Service, hausgemachte (sehr sehr leckere) Kuchen und einfach ein tolles Ambiente. Auf jeden Fall einen Ausflug wert Wir kommen wieder!

Sehr schönes Ambiente im Sommergarten am Teich. Leckere hausgemachte Kuchen und Torten. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Wir hatten einen tollen Abend mit einer Hochzeitsgesellschaft. Die Außenanlagen sind sehr schön und laden zum Verweilen ein. Der Service war schnell und freundlich und das Buffet war sehr gut, vor Allem die Rouladen! Für Festivitäten mit größeren Gruppen definitiv zu empfehlen.

Wunderschön gelegene und baulich sehr schöne Adresse. Auch für Feierlichkeiten sehr gut eingerichtet. Die Küche hat sich verbessert, das Angebot ist reichlicher geworden. Für den Raum Visbek ist dieser Landgasthof eine echte Bereicherung im Angebot seiner Gastronomie.
