Else am See in Schüttorf

The place is something special. That doesn't exist everywhere. The service is extremely convincing. When it comes to eating, I think there is still room for improvement. We had burgers, the meat wasn't warm enough and was dry. Otherwise it was great in terms of taste. There are better burgers in Schüttorf. Next time I'll eat something different.

Chic restaurant right on the lake. It's a good place for hikers or cyclists to take a break. There are even vending machines outside where you can buy something.

I think the prices are really steep for the type of food you get there. Very simple, more like a bar. The children's menu is a joke to me. 10 euros for a tiny frozen pizza. You should really be ashamed of yourself!

€22 for a plate of pumpkin ravioli! Far too expensive and 100% not homemade (two ravioli were not filled) and then €22? Unfortunately, all pasta dishes cost €22, and my companion wasn't happy either. Service staff weren't very nice either. Unfortunately not recommended.

Great place, we have been here several times. We really like the type of catering and the connection to the water with the large terrace. A great place to relax when the weather is good... Today our 12 year old daughter wanted to order penne with tomato sauce, but that is only available as a dish for children. We asked if we could still order it and it wasn't about the price, there was no pasta dish for adults... But that wasn't possible because children's meals can only be ordered up to the age of 10. Seriously??? My daughter is not allowed to eat pasta with you because she is older than 10? And you don't suggest a plan B so that my daughter can eat pasta with tomato sauce? Service desert Germany... I'm curious if you react to this review...

We were guests with a large group - six adults, seven children. We were so impressed by the food, service and ambience that we stopped at Else's three times during our multi-day holiday. And every time we were thrilled with the overall package. Clear recommendation!

We were at Else am See on a Sunday afternoon. You can walk beautifully around the small lake. The service was great, very quick and friendly. Lots of vegetarian options. The prices are quite high, you can't get less than €50-60 for two people for a drink + main course per person.

It's a shame to even give one star. Today at breakfast everything wasn't always there. Always had to ask if there were supplies. Very cheeky employee. It's a shame to pay so much money and have such poor conditions.

The place is beautiful. The ambience inside is very tasteful. The service, well, apart from the waitress apparently having an innate smile, no one could really look friendly or even grin. Food, yes... We had Else's pan. The meat was done, yes. But it was also very solid. I definitely expect more from a pork fillet in a restaurant for almost €30. There were also fried vegetables in the pan, which tasted good and were also well seasoned. Then rosemary potatoes. Mini potatoes fried and seasoned with rosemary. Conclusion: the staff should be improved a bit in terms of friendliness. And the cook should look a little more closely at the meat and spices. Otherwise it is worth visiting again.

The service was very nice but the food was everything else. We have never paid so much money for so little and not recommended food. Saddle of fallow deer was dry and tough despite being ordered medium. Homemade? Spaetzle and bacon beans pulled through water and mushroom cream sauce (little mushroom and little sauce). There are probably no spices in the kitchen (not even salt). In any case, we cannot understand the predominantly good reviews.

Atmospheric restaurant with beautiful terrace on/on the water. Beautiful walking area. Price/quality lunch was moderate. Unfortunately, the staff had not slept well. Very unfriendly, even 'tasty food' could not be taken away by the person serving. We didn't really feel welcome. The exception to this was the cheerful girl who had to replace the candles on the tables. She provided a bowl of water for the dog herself.

And a large table was made possible at short notice. The food was super tasty, with a few exceptions. The service was very attentive and courteous. Unfortunately, a dish didn't come at all or only after repeated requests. That was a shame because we couldn't really all eat together. All in all, still highly recommended!

Beautifully made, purely visually. But you feel like you're in a train station. Very loud, the food was okay but the quality was clearly too expensive. The staff is very friendly, the food came quickly. But we won't be coming back to Else am See.

True for breakfast here with 8 people. It was very tasty, there was everything that tasted good and what you wanted. Go there more often by bike or car. Also for coffee and dinner. Very attentive waitresses! Just great!!

We were here at the end of August about 4:30 p.m. a week. There really wasn't much going on here with guests to be served. We initially waited about 15 minutes for our ordered 2 beers. ......then someone came to ask if we had already ordered. The beer finally came after a total of 20 minutes.

Great recommendation and no longer an insider tip for a long time. Else am See combines a beautiful lake view with attentive staff and good food. The breakfast buffet is solid. The food a la carte was very good. Only the small variety of vegetarian dishes is likely to be greater in 2024, even in more rural areas, and the chef would be happy to receive training in how to use tofu.

We've been there several times and I had a good meal last night too! I had the Else pan with rösti! I'd love to come back!

My wife was very happy with her meal from Elsa Pfanne. I, on the other hand, could have also ordered a breaded shoe sole. Never again original Wiener Schnitzel. The side salad was also barely edible and the cola was too heavy on ice cubes. It's a shame about the good money.

Were there on a very crowded Sunday evening, but the kitchen and service were still pretty quick. The taste of the food was really perfect except that the burgers could have been a little warmer. The price-performance ratio was therefore OK to good. Always my pleasure.

Nice restaurant on the lake. Food is tasty but expensive by German standards 2x starter + main course + 4 drinks 100 euros. They keep up the pace, we were outside again within an hour. The starter was not finished yet and the main course was already on the table.

A nice place to eat, sit on the “beach” or just have a coffee. The atmosphere is great, unfortunately it was a bit overcrowded when we were there, but that's inevitable when the weather is nice. We had a lovely time there and would love to come back!

Unexpectedly nice place not far across the Dutch border. Beautiful recreational lake and this establishment that has a beautiful terrace. We only came for a drink and despite it being very busy we were served quickly and friendly. Not cheap, expected slightly better prices in Germany.

Ich bin mit meiner Frau vergagenen Donnerstag bei Else am See gewesen - tolles Wetter - tolle location - haben gerade noch den letzten Platz am Wasser ergattert! WoW, klasse :-) Dann haben wir bestellt - eine große Fl. Mineralwasser - die kam auch recht schnell-leider mit nur einem Glas - das wurde aber auch nachgeliefert! Alles ok! Nun zur Bestellung des Essens: hier hatten wir beid uns für jeweils 1x ELSE-Pommes entschieden weil wir dachten das eine so genatte Pommes schon etwas besonderes sein müsste - zusätzlich hatte ich mir einen Chickenburger bestellt! Beides kam nach ca. 5 Minuten zu uns an den Tisch - so schnell, das hatte ich noch niemals! Aber das zeigte sich auch in der Qualität: Die Pommes waren dünne Fettstäbchen (ca. 4x4mm dick) und trieften nur so von Frittierfett! Also kaum essbar - so dachten wir - aber nachdem ich den Chickenburger probiert hatte sind wir beide doch bei den Fettstäbchen geblieben! Der Chickenburger war eine Frechheit und jeder Chickenburger dieser Welt würde sich dafgür geschämt haben! Der erste Bissen ohne Fleisch war bis auf die Fiungerdicke Gurkenrohkost noch gerade ok - der zweite Bissen mit "Fleisch" war eine Zumutung und eher gut für den Dschungelkönig! Es war kein Hühnchenfleisch wie man es in einem Chickenburger erwartet - dies sagte ich auch der eilig herbeigerufenen Bedienung und fragte was für ein Fleisch das hier denn wohl sein könnte - die nahm das ungenießbare Ersatzteillager mit in die Küche, kam nach einiger Zeit zurück und sagte das es kein Hühnchen Brustfleisch sei und auch der Koch wüßte nicht genau was für ein Fleisch das wäre! Wir hatten uns noch ein wenig echauffiert - und dann nach der Rechnung gefragt - diese kam dann auch schnell und siehe da: Ich sollte diesen Ersatzteil"burger" auch noch bezahlen...auch bei meiner Nachfrage sagte die Bedienung das ich das zahlen müsste....nun platze mir endgültig der Kragen und ich verlangte nach der Geschäftsleitung - die arme Bedienung lief dann fort und kam nach einer gefühlten 1/2std. zurück mit der Aussage das der Burger dann doch gezahlt werden müsste! Ich zahlte den Rest mit einem guten Trinkgeld für die Bedienung(die konnte ja schließlich nix dafür!) und wir gingen dann mit einem schlechten Gefühl .... FAZIT: Dieses "LOKAL" werden wir nicht wieder betreten - anderswo ist es auch schön....und das Essen um LÄNGEN besser! Eine Frechheit was dem Gast dort beim Essen abverlangt wird - das grenzt schon fast an Körperverletzung! Mein Rat - bitte nicht dorthin zuum Essen gehen....und wenn doch - dann AUF GAR KEINEN FALL DIE ELSE FRITTEN UND/ODER DEN CHICKENBURGER bestellen! Wie immer perfekt! Mega Frühstücksbuffet und toller Service. Es ist eine wunderbare Location mit sehr gutem Essen und wirklich super freundlichem Personal.

On the way through, we took a short break here with a great view of the lake. Stylish ambience, friendly service and delicious food. Clean toilets and a nice playground in front of the door. There are enough parking spaces available. Prices ok.

Wow. The sauce on the vegan burger was very good. The beet patty was very tasty, and the wonderful buns with flowers and herbs were just superb. The French fries were well cooked and had the right crunch to fluff ratio. My friends' Ceasars salad was also good, but not what one would consider a Ceasar sauce exactly. The portions were good. The service was great. The server we had also understood English, in case you need that. I can very much recommend the ginger and lemongrass drink. Overall, we are very happy with this establishment. The atmosphere is really nice and relaxing. The view is also very good. The presentation of the food and drinks was done with care and flair. I can recommend this place even to the pickiest people.

We had dinner there today. The ambience is great. Just like the prices. Absolutely overpriced. And then the quality of the food is poor. My husband's pork fillet had endless tendons, was flattened like a schnitzel and dry like the sole of a shoe. My spare ribs still had the silver skin on them, the meat was tough and could hardly be removed from the bone, the glaze was simply tasteless. We reported this to the waitress and were offered a new meal, but we politely declined. I can't say whether we were just unlucky today. But to charge almost 65 euros for 2 main courses with 2 beers - then delivery has to be made. Unfortunately, no recommendation, even if the location and ambience were so nice. The service staff are very nice. Here you're just called on your first name, I don't really know that either. Well, everyone should have their own experience.

Unfortunately, this is a system catering facility. The prices for the food are not justified. We were very disappointed with the waffle for €6.50. When I asked about the contents of a dish, I was given incorrect information. According to the waitress, the still water is always lukewarm - so I pay €3.40 for 0.25L? The location is very nice and the terrace is great.

Very good food, very nice atmosphere!

A nice, large restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. Very atmospheric and friendly staff. We ate a wienersnitzel with mushroom sauce. This one was very good. The pokebowl with chicken was tasty, but it's a pity that there is no Japanese sauce as it should be, for example a teryaki sauce. A salad dressing doesn't really go well with a poke bowl. Now you're actually eating a bowl of lettuce with chicken and vegetables. The himbeer sorbet is very sweet and very pricey for 1 scoop, which is a shame. The creme brulee had virtually no taste, there was no vanilla in it as it should be. The brulee was unfortunately grainy and should be delicious. As a chef, I would look at this again and taste it myself. Service was smooth and the drinks offered were plentiful and in large quantities that you rarely see anymore. All in all, satisfactory as far as food is concerned.

We spent a great evening there. The salmon with sesame sauce, grilled vegetables and rosemary potatoes is an absolute highlight. The fillet steak was cooked to perfection, simply a dream. The service was also very good. We would love to come back.

Great ambience, good food and great service. Only the salad was a bit brown in some places but otherwise really perfect. The thirst quenching drinks are a good idea and taste great.

Nice location right on the swimming lake and close to the campsite. Quite crowded on Sunday for the breakfast buffet. The buffet was rich and quite good.

Wild goulash was lukewarm and dry red cabbage was typically from a can. Burger wa cold meat tough cheese cold again so nice microwave. I hoped for more for such prices.

Simply fantastic. A little more expensive than other restaurants, but by a lot. I think that's a bit of a shame, I'd rather have a little less and 3-4. € cheaper. It's a shame if food isn't eaten (of course you can also take it with you) Staff, very nice, quick and very attentive. You can then lie on the beach and chill, wonderful. It was worth it and is definitely worth a visit.

It's not my favorite restaurant for nothing! Good food, pleasant atmosphere, friendly service and a walk around the lake after dinner make the evening perfect for me. If you don't have a reservation, it's better to call in advance before you stand there stupidly because there are no more seats available.

Unfortunately, the food got worse... The food was ordered - within less than 5 minutes (!!) the entire meal was on the table. Burger cold, fries cold and completely fried and hard (dripping with greasy). The nuggets for children were also very, very greasy (deep fryer) and for that 8.90 euros is quite a number... The salad for over 20 euros with a little beef on top consisted of 1/3 only red onions. The ambience is beautiful right on the lake; When it comes to food - which was probably prepared in our kitchen for a long time today - everything is designed to be quick for the masses of people (good weather). I'd rather wait longer for my food and have it fresh. Price/performance is no longer right here. I'm just wondering where all the positive reviews come from...
