Ellin Original Greek I Griechisches Restaurant in Mannheim in Mannheim

Beim letzten Besuch war es schon schwierig, wollte dem Haus aber eine Chance geben. Wir mussten heute extrem lange auf das Essen warten, dann fehlten zwei Vorspeisen. Keine Entschuldigung oder Erklärung. Das Ganze wirkte lieblos. Es waren - für einen Freitagabend auch kaum Gäste da. Die Qualität der Essens war durchschnittlich. So stellt man sich keinen Start in das Wochenende vor. Gäste scheinen störend.

War auf Geschäftsreise allein unterwegs und hab mich zwischen 3 Griechen in Mannheim entschieden zu diesem zu gehen. Es war wenig los. Betreiberpaar ist anwesend er sitzt meiste Zeit sie macht den Service, vielleicht auch nur angestellt. Auf jeden Fall nicht die beste Laune. War als Gast auf jeden Fall sehr freundlich vorab da ich schon Rezensionen gelesen hatte. Spass am Job und Gast sieht anders aus. Aber gut hab dann nicht von alleine aber auf Nachfrage immer zügig ein neues Getränk bekommen. Aber bei der Stimmung der Mitarbeiter möchte man nicht unter die Räder kommen… Essen war ok und solide. Kein Aha, besonders aber auch nicht schlechter. Für mich ok. Salz und Pfeffer im besten Fall Olivenöl wären aber auch zur Vorspeise nett wann mans hätte… Service nur 3 Punkte. Man muss halt auch mal nicht gequält ausschauen wenn man den Job macht…siehe andere Rezensionen. Tut mit leid für die Frau aber sie mag offensichtlich nicht was sie da tut… Warum nur zwei Sterne bei Ambiente. Sie haben einer ca. 20 köpfigen Malgruppe einen Tisch, zwar weiter hinten gegeben, aber man ist als normaler Besucher leider mittendrin statt nur dabei… die Vorsängerin dieser Malgruppe ist derart laut, dass sie jeden Malbefehl brüllt und man sich leider nicht entziehen kann. So geht das über Stunden. Habe mir Ohrstöpsel rein gemacht und da griechische Musik gehört obwohl dort welche lief. Aber liebe Leute romantisch essen gehen oder so ist nicht. Die Malgruppe gibt den Ton an. „Und jetzt nehmen allen ihr Blatt….“ uiui auch noch nicht erlebt… Man kann nachvollziehen das man sich als Betreiber was dazu verdienen möchte, aber so geht das nicht. Entweder abgeschlossener Bereich/Raum oder so was geht in einem Restaurant einfach nicht. Gehe davon aus das findet regelmäßig mind 1x die Woche statt. Wer da grad da ist (bei mir wars Dienstag) hat eben Pech…

Essen war spitze, ebenso das Ambiente. Sehr zu empfehlen

Ein tolles griechisches Restaurant. Riesige Auswahl. Großzügiges und modernes Ambiente. Schneller Service. Und danach noch ein Gläschen Ouzo... 🤗

Das Essen war nicht lecker, es sah auf dem Bild zwar gut aus, schmeckte aber nicht. Die Soße war altbacken, die Kartoffeln waren geschmacklos und das Fleisch war ebenfalls altbacken.

Ich hatte das Gyros und das Fleisch war leider nicht von guter Qualität. Der Service war okay, nicht gut, aber auch nicht schlecht

Wir waren als Gruppe dort, um den Geburtstag einer Freundin zu feiern, und es war ein sehr schöner Abend. Ich habe ein Gyros mit einer besonderen Soße gegessen – wirklich lecker! Das Ambiente ist wundervoll, mit Kerzen auf den Tischen, was eine warme und gemütliche Atmosphäre schafft. Die Kellnerin war sehr freundlich und äußerst hilfsbereit, obwohl sie leider ganz allein gearbeitet hat. Insgesamt ein empfehlenswertes griechisches Restaurant!

Wir waren sehr enttäuscht. Wir mussten eine Stunde auf das Essen warten, und das Gericht war völlig versalzen. Die Kellnerin tat so, als würde sie uns nicht bemerken, und reagierte nicht auf unsere Bitten. Leider kann ich dieses Restaurant nicht empfehlen.

Wir waren zum Mittagstisch dort. Lecker Essen toller, netter Service. Auf Behinderte Menschen und Menschen mit Handicap wurde eingegangen. Zur Toilette geht eine Treppe ins Untergeschoss.

Wollte schon lange mal hin. Gestern hat es geklappt. Lokal war leider sehr schlecht besucht, aber dadurch mussten wir nicht reservieren. Bedienung war freundlich, essen war lecker, typisch Griechisch halt. Dann war noch ein Unfall zwischen Auto und Straßenbahn direkt vorm Restaurant. Alles in allem ein schöner Abend.

Normalerweise schreibe ich eher extrem lange und kritikbehaftete Kommentare. Hier kommt tatsächlich meine erste positive Nachricht. Falls ihr extrem Hunger und Durst habt, dann müsst ihr hier hin. Wir hatten Oliven als Vorspeise, die für den Preis perfekt waren. Vor allem, weil das Brot inklusive war. Es gab noch für jeden 2 Burger, die wirklich gut aussahen und gesättigt haben. Die Patty‘s waren dick und perfekt gewürzt. Für die, die Schärfe lieben, können wir den Chili Cheese Burger empfehlen. Ich kann insgesamt nur sagen, dass es an einem Donnerstagabend wirklich sehr entspannt war. Und wir für 50€ Vorspeise, 3 Getränke (Mezzo Mix, Wasser sprudel 0,75, Wildberry Lillet) und 2 große Burger mit Pommes gut essen konnten. Es ist definitiv empfehlenswert.

The food was delicious. A few street racing cars detracted somewhat from the atmosphere.

I was here with my daughter and grandchild, and unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. Even though we were the only guests, the service was only moderately friendly and didn't accommodate my grandchild's request at all. A simple portion of pasta wasn't available, even though a pasta dish was offered. The tzatziki only arrived after repeated requests. The food itself was substandard; the meat was so bad that we had to leave it. The prices were high, but the food was significantly lower. Overall, not a visit I would recommend. No trace of the much-vaunted Greek hospitality.

We had lunch and were generally satisfied with the overall experience. The server was very friendly, and the food arrived very quickly. The meat was a bit too dry for all of us; it looked as if it had been cooked for a while on the plate. The flavor was well prepared, especially the fries (unusually long fries; I'm usually only used to round slices) were fresh and delicious. The tzatziki was good and perfectly acceptable for a German guest. I personally prefer a bit more spice. The prices were reasonable for the portions, especially considering the location in the heart of the city!

The meat here is delicious and well-cooked. Unfortunately, that's all there is to it. When accepting reservations for groups, you can't be annoyed as a server. At the very least, you shouldn't let it show if you want someone in the group to come back. After all, the group is paying for your service. For vegetarians, the food was a disappointment. The Cypriot pita, in particular, was an outrage and unfortunately had to be returned.

Unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience. We were a larger group and wanted to sit together. The waitress pushed the tables together for us – everything was fine up until that point. But when we tried to place our order, one of the employees (brown hair) treated us very rudely. When we politely asked for the menu, she simply replied, "We don't have it, we don't have enough." We actually wanted to keep the menu because we might want to order something later – but we weren't allowed to. Then we asked for waffles, and again we received a curt "No," even though waffles were clearly available inside. The other waitress (blonde, short hair), on the other hand, was very friendly – ​​that was the only saving grace. The coffee we ordered was a disappointment. My frappe with sugar was extremely bitter and undrinkable – I couldn't even finish it. Absolutely not recommended for a spontaneous coffee shop visit. I will definitely not go there again.

They were friendly at first, until we said we just wanted a drink. The worst frappé we've ever had. The waitress was a disaster. Never again. Shame on the Greek restaurant.

Gyros and Metaxa sauce, unfortunately, bear no resemblance to what you'd expect from a Greek restaurant. I think the gyros was simply a chicken doner kebab, not a typical rustic pork skewer. The Metaxa sauce tasted of nothing but fat, probably a convenience product. On top of that, everything was very expensive: €18 for a plate of gyros and €4 for a small bottle of Coke. Unfortunately, the waitress didn't understand or accommodate special requests, but she was also solely responsible for the entire restaurant and very stressed.

The food came very quickly, but the taste was not a highlight.

I don't find the Greek restaurant particularly authentic. Retsina is never served in wine glasses in Greece, but in small water glasses. Olive oil and water are always on the table in Greece. And the menu was missing the typical anchovies, which is very sad. The outdoor area is located on a main road, so in the evenings you can enjoy the setting sun, away from the traffic. It's beautiful.

Good restaurant. The prices are a bit high, but still reasonable. The grilled plate was very good. It looks simple, but it's filling. A very good side salad. The grilled pepperoni is expensive, but with the spicy sauce and toasted bread, it's perfect. I've been there several times on business trips and would happily go back.

I made a reservation on your website. When I arrived, I informed them of my reservation for two people. The rather unfriendly server refused twice. My offer to show her the reservation confirmation was rejected, and she simply said, "You can sit over there." Not a word of apology, nothing. I didn't feel welcome at all. Her expression said it all. The food was okay, but unfortunately very salty. This was my first time eating here. I probably won't be coming back. It's a shame, because the restaurant's ambiance is very nice.

Walked in without a reservation and immediately got a table for 13 people - that was a great start. The service was extremely friendly and quick. Even though we all ordered different dishes, the food came to the table at the same time. The portions were just right, neither too much nor too little. And the food? Simply delicious! Every dish, whether classic Greek dishes like gyros, souvlaki or mousaka, tasted very, very good. The flavors were perfectly balanced and the freshness of the ingredients was clearly evident. We were all very satisfied and can fully recommend the Ellin Original Greek. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, the staff was attentive and friendly. We'll definitely be back! Five stars for the Ellin Original Greek - absolutely deserved!

The food is still reasonably priced for Mannheim city center. I highly recommend the Metaxa sauce, it's very tasty; I would order it again. Parking is very difficult. Only in the nearby parking garages.

Wir waren an Weihnachten dort essen. Alles sehr lecker und frisch zubereitet! Super! Auch die Vorspeise! Preise angemessen ,viele Griechen dort,was uns sehr gefällt,da wir Griechenland lieben. Weiter so,wir kommen wieder😃

We (my girlfriend and I) met for lunch today and were really excited. Personally, I really like the modern purism and wooden interior. Most of the tables are by the floor-to-ceiling windows. The tables are well spaced apart so that you can chat undisturbed. All starters were lovingly prepared and rich. The meat in the main courses is extremely tender and the fries are crispy. Our service was attentive and courteous. Lastly, the price-performance ratio is really fair. A clear recommendation!

Went there for the first time on Valentine's Day. We didn't have a reservation, but we still got a spot. However, the waitress receptionist was rather stressed/annoyed. What I personally think is that it doesn't work at all. The waitress and the employees themselves are very stressed and were completely confused. Since it's the weekend and Valentine's Day, it's normal that there's a little more going on. We had already noticed from other guests that something had gone wrong and that the wrong meal had been prepared. This was also the case with us. So unfortunately not an isolated case. The food itself was good. But nothing special. Unfortunately, I'm most disappointed with the service.

I've been there several times now, today was definitely the last time. The bifteki didn't taste good, the wrong side dish came first and the service was very inattentive. It's too expensive for that.

Had a spontaneous meal there today. I have to say the atmosphere is very inviting and clean. Service was nice, but not too intrusive. Humane prices. We had a chili cheese burger and chicken skewers with fries and salad. The food came very quickly and the dishes were good, my son also liked it. I can recommend. 👍🏻

Ich war am 16.11.2024 mit meiner Freundin zum Abendessen hier. Ich habe Gyrosteller bestellt. Das Fleisch war kalt und alt und hinzu kamm der Schweinespieß total nach verdorbenen Fleisch aus der Mülltonne gestunken hat. Als ich die Bedienung darauf angesprochen habe,wurde er sehr frech. Hier wird altes verdorbenes Fleisch dem Kunde serviert,alles wird lieblos auf dem Teller serviert. Die Bedienung ist frech und unhöflich Das war unser letze Besuch in diesem Resturant

A nice cozy Greek restaurant. The starters and main courses was great. The atmosphere was really great. A must-visit if you are a fan of Greek cuisine.

What is special, however, is the ambience: there are tablecloths, the plates are stylishly arranged and the restaurant has enough space, is beautifully decorated and is pleasantly quiet, so you can have a good conversation! Can't really comment on the food, but have been here for drinks two evenings now. We were served extremely friendly and courteously. We got dessert on the house on the second evening, which was delicious. Overall, a clear recommendation! Great service, great emphasis on cleanliness and customer requests.

Not recommended. The service is bad, when the restaurant is crowded. The food does not come together, so half of the people have to wait 20‘ while the other half is eating. Many things are clearly frozen (suzuki, squid, sausage) and not even warmed up well, they came almost cold to the table. Prices are very high for this quality. Doing you want traditional Greek food…go somewhere else

It was my first time here for ArtNight and everyone was greeted very warmly. However, the good smell whetted our appetite, so my colleague and I decided to have a tasty snack afterwards. Happy for both again!

Es sollte ein "Eventabend" mit griechischem Wein und Büffet sein. Es wurde ein große Enttäuschung für uns. Zu teuer und zu schlecht dazu noch einen furchtbaren Service durch Aushilfskräfte. Über einen richtigen und erfahrenen Koch scheint dieses Lokal nicht zu verfügen. Die Speisen wurden alle unschön auf die Teller geklatscht.

Very nice restaurant. The chairs are comfortable and invite you to linger. It's chic. Tables are decorated with white tablecloth. The only thing that bothered me was that the napkins were made of paper. If you already have a tablecloth, then “real” napkins are also a good idea. The meat and gyros were fried to perfection and the fries are the best. Tzatziki was good but not enough garlic for my taste. On the whole, however, the food was really good and, above all, plentiful. We'd love to come back. Thank you for the lovely evening.

Service was attentive and friendly, but only 3 stars for the food because it just didn't suit my taste. Had the gyro plate and the pepperoni as a starter. The pepperoni was okay but I didn't need the white sauce on it. The fries were crispy and well seasoned, but the meat was mostly dry and the skewer had a flavor that I didn't like. Unfortunately I didn't like the tzatziki either. The salad dressing for the side salad tasted almost exclusively of mayonnaise.

Excellent place, very clean shop with a very tasty and rich menu. The service was very good and the waitress who served us was polite and very friendly. The impressions from this particular shop are the best, I recommend it without reservation.

The food was really fatty and too salty. Even a kebab that costs €6 isn't even that fat. The waitress wasn't in the mood and was really cheeky the whole time. In the end she just said: PAY HERE, bye. Real Greek cuisine, very well implemented, friendly and attentive service.

When we arrived, the employees already looked annoyed/stressed. My chicken steak was really good, but the gyro with metaxa and cheese gratin was a disaster. Contains a lot of cartilage, which is actually only the case with frozen gyros from the supermarket. A little too dry although you think Metaxa sauce would be there. Then the small portion for 20€? Often, my trusted Greek restaurant offers a double portion and is cheaper. However, I wouldn't come back for that reason.

I can't understand all the positive feedback here. We were here as part of Artnight. Even the preparation of the drinks caused the service to be in a bad mood and overwhelmed. Unfortunately, the food wasn't convincing either. Price-performance doesn't match. I cannot recommend the restaurant.

I had reserved in advance for 10 people. When I entered, I immediately noticed the tables beautifully set with white tablecloths. However, we didn't get such a table, but a wooden table at the very back, in the cracks of which there were leftovers from previous meals. The waitress took a long time and barely had time to take the order. By the time we had the drinks, 30 minutes had already passed. The food was good (except for the starter platter ordered as the main course, which was obviously partially heated in the microwave). The drinks were not placed directly at the guest, but at the narrow edge of the table, so we had to pass them through ourselves. Conclusion: delicious food. There is still room for improvement in the service.

The food was very tasty. The restaurant is also well maintained. Unfortunately, the service was a bit hectic at first and a bit overwhelmed by the size of our group.

The table wasn't completely clean, the bench was too far away from the table. The service was completely overwhelmed and very incompetent. The wrong food came several times, something didn't come at all, a dish came way too early and questions were not understood or not answered. Not unfriendly. The food was very good but comparatively expensive.

Food tastes mediocre Service, yeah Ambiance OK What's really bad for me is that I was there with my family and we ordered a lot and ended up paying extra for bread. Paid without saying anything but I certainly won't book a table there again.

The restaurant seems so inconspicuous and you don't expect anything special at first. But then you will be taught better. The service was really very friendly and attentive. Greek music was played and the waitress also had a Greek accent, which really created a good overall impression. Table, cutlery and toilets were clean. The food tasted really good and the portions are really big. And all of this at an easily affordable price.

Very clean place. Food looked good. I was only there briefly to drink coffee and treated myself to a piece of strawberry cake. There will be something off the menu next time you visit.

HORRIBLE ATTENTION! The waitress was so rude while we she took the orthers, most of us didn't want drinks and she said we couldn't eat without getting drinks??? And after some awkward and rude time we just left because it was so disrespectful. WHEN WE ASKED HER NAME SHE SAID SHE WAS THE CHEF'S WIFE....(Bolena) Absolutely terrible, don't go.

The waiter was probably helping out. Inattentive and occasionally unfriendly. The younger waiter was very friendly and accommodating The food was ok with dishes starting at 20 euros. The grilled sea bream was very tasty. The various skewers were average and the salads were a bit small. Unfortunately, we can't recommend any of the various dessert offerings after trying them all. We drank various wines at an advanced hour and then there was only wine a bottle for 42 euros. It was supposed to be a special wine that none of the five wine drinkers liked. We were 10 people and had a joint bill of 510 euros. The mood with us was good, we had a family celebration, the service and the food available unfortunately did not do justice to the occasion. So the next time you visit a Greek restaurant it doesn't have to be this one.
