Unusually rustic restaurant (Mexican cantina style). Very nice service. Food very good and varied. Excellent Mexican cuisine. (See photos)

Oldest Mexican restaurant in Germany. Mexican is really just awesome, beautifully authentically decorated. Waiting time is the only negative point. We waited 40 minutes even though we were there on a Wednesday evening. Wasn't that full. Prices are still within range. Just spent €100 for two people. Well, we eat a lot Update: I've now tried the burrito and the tacco. Both good. But a burrito with a bit of salad for €18??? Too expensive. No matter had a voucher the second time. Thanks Dieter

Were there for the Christmas party with colleagues. Portions were larger than expected and we felt full, even if we didn't think so at first. The prices aren't exactly cheap, but now it's the same everywhere. The waiter was very friendly and even treated one of my colleagues to a cocktail on the house for a minor inconvenience. Great service! The food was a little too spicy for my taste but despite everything I would visit the restaurant again :)

A relatively large Mexican restaurant in downtown Karlsruhe. In our opinion, the furnishings are a bit kitschy and overloaded, but that is of course a matter of taste. Reception and service were very friendly and attentive, we didn't need the "service buttons" on the table, and the waitress always had our table in view. The food was good, but not above average, we've had better Mexican food. Price level is okay.

The best Mexican restaurant I've ever been to. A large selection of dishes that are very tasty. I can recommend No. 69 (chicken burrito). The service is super nice and funny. There's no need to talk about the ambience - it's fantastic, breathtakingly furnished, relaxed and cozy.

Very good Mexican with authentic Mexican cuisine. A little few (5+-) vegetarian dishes, but sufficient if you go there once a quarter like I do. Also has at least one (meat) dish with mole. Good selection of cocktails.

Very tasty Mexican food with promotions like happy hour or all you can eat for ribs. As soon as you enter, you have a smile on your face because of the bridge you have to cross and the other decorations are also an eye-catcher. There is a small glowing cube at the table to call the waitress, which is definitely helpful if you are seated at the back of the restaurant. The prices are reasonable. Overall, definitely the tip: try it out!

Very good restaurant!!! The best Mexican restaurant we've ever been to. The food is very tasty and very filling. The cocktails are very well made. The service is very pleasant.

The waiter was very nice. Since the restaurant was at full capacity, the staff suggested a heated table outside. The waiting time for the food was correspondingly long, but that is plausible. Unfortunately we were approached several times by homeless people, which was very disturbing. The chili con carne was tasty but a bit small. I didn't really like the side dish, but my companion did (so it's a matter of taste). The enchiladas tricolores were good.

The food is okay, sometimes there are ingredients that maybe don't go well with the rest of the dish, but overall it's okay. The only thing that's really bad are the drinks: the carajillo is very poorly prepared, it's not even close to a real carajillo. The original Café de Olla contains no alcohol or whipped cream, and the Champurrado should not contain whipped cream. I think when you're trying to represent a culture you should respect the tastes and ways of cooking it.

I had the chimichanga today and now have extreme food poisoning. Nausea and diarrhea that lasts for hours. Puke too.

El Taquito has been one of our favorite restaurants in Karlsruhe for years. The food is always great and the price/performance ratio is right.

The ambience is also getting old. The service is quick. There is a flashing cube on the table that calls for service. Nobody understood it. The food is ok but not 5 stars.

I was very happy with my taco salad. Price performance ratio completely normal. There are also enough signs everywhere nearby - with pictures and prices. The waitress was very nice and explained to us that the benches and tables outside were heated. With the current weather we were able to sit outside in the evening.

The biggest impudence I have experienced in a restaurant is when a waitress throws my change on the table with the statement: that she could afford her vacation with the 10ct.

The food was great, a middle-aged waitress said cheekily after paying: “I can book a holiday with that 10 cents”

Service very friendly, bosses not. When ordering we asked if the refried beans were in the taco or separate. When told it was separate, reordered guacamole. The food came with refried beans in the taco and no guacamole. After a note from the waiter, I asked for the food as ordered. He took it with him and a short time later another waitress placed the plate back on our table (unchanged) without comment. When we asked, we were told that it wasn't possible to order the taco without refried beans, but we could have guacamole separately. I then ate half of the taco (part without the refried beans), the rest was returned because it was delivered incorrectly... In the end, in addition to the incorrectly delivered taco, we were also allowed to pay in full for the guacamole (without any indication of what we had to pay, so the guacamole sinks). When I pointed out that the food was different from what was ordered and that at least the guacamole should be included as compensation, the waiter said that the boss had said that nothing was on the house and everything had to be accounted for. He offered that he could give us 5 euros privately, which we declined. So really the bottom line and service errors are simply passed on to the customer. You feel pretty ripped off.

Staff super friendly and accommodating! Beer garden was good, but everything at the bar was full of empty, dirty glasses, etc. Had 3 main courses and all 3 of them were mega small so no one was full! Everyone would have had to get at least one more main course (e.g. street food tacos, 3 small ones, max the size of saucers with a little filling on them) and the prices were way too expensive for that.

I would say that these Mexican dishes are just Germanized Mexican food. Not real Mexican food. If a person wants to eat Mexican food then he would like to try some exotic food instead of German meat that looks like Mexican food.

El Taquito in Karlsruhe is a great place for authentic Mexican cuisine. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, and the staff is friendly and attentive. In my opinion the price/performance level no longer corresponds to what it once was. I no longer think the prices are justified for the food and quantities offered. Don't even start with the unfriendly service.

The restaurant is great with a very good choice of typical delicious dishes and drinks from Mexico. The service seemed quite overwhelmed sometimes but very friendly.

August 2023: Very nice and detailed Mexican furnishings. There were four of us celebrating my mother's 75th birthday. The starters and main courses ordered from the extensive menu were served quickly and were beautifully presented and very tasty. (see photos) For my mother's birthday, the restaurant served her a delicious green cocktail with a sparkler (without alcohol and free of charge) with appropriate music playing. All in all, we went home very satisfied this time. I can recommend this restaurant. * Update August 11, 2024: Went to Taquito again today for the same reason, The taste is still great, the only point of criticism would be the sometimes high prices and the fact that at the same time the rations felt smaller.

Went there on Friday evening, got a seat without a reservation despite it being packed, service was nice but not special, you sit nicely on the terrace, the food was ok but doesn't have much to do with Mexican food, price performance is ok, but definitely not Experience, perhaps the cocktails are better there, but unfortunately I didn't try them

The food was super tasty and I was full too. You get a lot for the price. For example, I got a huge taco, several homemade tortillas, different sauces and a bowl of refried beans for €15-20. You can also get half a liter of homemade lemonade of your choice for €5

We waited 1 1/2 hours for our food. Guests who arrived later received a starter and main course in that time. When we got the food it was lukewarm and the dish from the special menu was a joke (very small). The taste was good. But we won't be coming back any time soon.

Enchiladas were drowned in sauce, so less would have been more.

Great Mexican food, friendly staff, value for money

Unfortunately, I didn't have a good experience again yesterday. Last year I was there with just one friend and it was practically empty. A few months ago with a large group of friends (the cocktails tasted so bad because they were mixed incorrectly) and yesterday too. Due to the weather there were only guests outside and we seemed to be the largest table. The orders took far too long. It was incredibly warm and we were thirsty. The wrong food was brought to the table, which could not be complained about because the waitresses couldn't keep up. At the end she said to my friend that it cost exactly as much as the meal anyway, which it actually did. The drinks tasted ok again. We had to put up with it because the choice was to accept the evil or die of thirst until the waitress appeared. In the end, the service during the payment process was equally overwhelmed. Because sadly, as a group of 15 people, we had to go in to pay because we didn't feel like waiting again. We sometimes helped them with the calculation and discovered that the last drinks they ordered (which never came and we wouldn't have paid for them) weren't even narrow-minded. After 20 years and several attempts, attempts and understanding, it is clear to me that I will not come again.

For as long as I can remember, El Taquito has been the number 1 address for cocktails. Went there yesterday to drink cocktails and unfortunately we were very disappointed, cocktails no longer look lovely, no more fruit, no more nice straws, and unfortunately more juice than cocktail, even the Long Island which is a guarantee for a good mood, was very disappointing . Dear team, I hope that things go back to the old standard, it would be a shame if the trend continued like this. Of course everything is becoming more expensive, staff is difficult to find, etc. But that should be manageable for such a traditional restaurant. Best regards

I have to agree with the previous opinion... I had my first date with my husband at your place over 20 years ago and am always happy to come back... But the cocktails have deteriorated a lot! Not just in terms of offerings, but in terms of quality! Price/performance is no longer right for me here, neither for the drinks nor for the food (e.g. chili con carne). It's a shame! We also had to wait an incredibly long time for drinks to come...

Very nice atmosphere, nice staff and delicious Mexican food. There is a large selection of gluten-free dishes!! This restaurant alone is worth a trip to Karlsruhe :)

We have never eaten there, but they sell fresh tortillas for only €4.50 a kilo. That's wonderful.

Food was average, as we are vegetarians we had less options to choose, either the base would be potato’s and tomatoes or red beans . Nachos were best here.

I loved it, the margaritas were very good, the best Mexican food one can find in these parts, the atmosphere very nice, the waiters very friendly and attentive to what one needs, they accept cards and split the bill, which is important.

We come from Switzerland to shop here twice a year, and your restaurant is a MUST dinner every time we visit Karlsruhe. We have never had a bad meal and have always had great service. A big thank you to the whole El Taquito team! 😍 Ps: you have to try the nachos starter, they are MEGA!

Went here for dinner with friends (8 people)! And it wasn't the first time either.. unfortunately the service was completely overwhelmed this Saturday.. Drinks only came after asking and 6 out of eight people had actually already finished eating by the time the other 2 got their food by asking again. . As before, the food was very good and there was no lack of friendliness

The food was good, but way too expensive for the quantity! Drinks for 0.3l are all way too expensive! Price/performance would have to be significantly better for us to go there again.

As many others say, the food is tasty but the portions are really small. I paid €19 for a burrito, but it was so thin that it didn't really fill me up. I also mentioned that I have a bean allergy and was assured that there would be no beans in the meal. Unfortunately, kidney beans were included in the salad.

Very nice restaurant, with great staff and extremely good food. I was there with the family for my birthday, the food was very tasty, there was something for every taste, including veggies. The waitress and waiter were very cheerful and great, high praise! The atmosphere is cool, a lot of effort was put into setting up the place.

If you're looking for authentic Mexican food, this is the place for you. The super friendly waitress recommended two vegetarian dishes that were really tasty. The interior is very nice and cozy and the fact that there is a nice play area for children and changing facilities make the stay perfect. It's easy to ignore the fact that everything costs maybe 1-2€ more than somewhere else.

Unfortunately I have to agree with my previous writer. I've been going here regularly since 2009 and it's always been very tasty and good value for money. The prices on food have risen by up to 40% since Corona and in return the portions have become smaller. Because I wasn't full this time either. I'll think twice or three times about my next visit.

It was pretty full but still had a few seats. Although there was a lot of service staff on duty, I had to wait half an hour for my pre-ordered food (to take away). Of course, it's not El Taquito's fault that there was hardly any parking that day, but it was still annoying.

Naja wer mal in Mexiko war weis dass hier versucht wird aber nicht gekonnt. Die Küche lehnt ans mexikanische kann aber geschmacklich nichts. Hier besticht Lieblosigkeit schlechte Würze entweder viel zuviel am Hähnchen oder garnicht an Tacos aber viel Eisbergsalat klar der kost ja nix. Getränke sind ok und tolle Lage aber zum Essen verweilen sorry nein danke

Nice Mexican style 🇲🇽 restaurant in Karlsruhe. The neighbourhood might not be the nicest but inside the restaurant it looks very cool. Amazing also the option to sit outside on heated benches and tables - how amazing is that? The food was good and a lot - we had a tough time finishing it 😄 on top it is delicious 😋 The service was kind and you can also order via app if you want to schick would be a shame as the waitresses are too kind to miss. It wouldn’t be the same experience

Great atmosphere. It was very crowded. It makes sense to reserve here in advance! When it was a guest's birthday, a loud birthday song would be played. Very atmospheric haha ​​:D So it's worth announcing this in advance somehow. Every meal was very, very tasty. We particularly enjoyed the house coffee “Caffee de olla”, served in a clay pot, and the “Enchiladas Tricolore”. We all agreed on that! The cocktails were of an unusually high standard - something you don't normally find. Nothing stretched, ingredients at a high level - no frills and definitely worth the price! We thought it was exceptionally great that you could theoretically order there via the app. In addition, you could either call someone to the table “call” or have someone come to pay “pay” using a small glowing cube using touch controls. I could imagine that this offers a lot of accessibility for certain people. We had never seen it like this before and would like to see it everywhere. Overall, we can only recommend the visit. It's definitely worth it. Simply because the service was so incredibly courteous and very friendly and attentive to children.
