A fantastic alternative to Ash. The price-performance ratio is excellent. The waitress was very attentive and the staff very friendly. I highly recommend it. And you should always reserve in advance ^.^

We visited El Paso (2 adults and 2 children) and had an enjoyable evening overall. The restaurant has a very warm and atmospheric setting, which immediately makes you feel comfortable. The steaks were delicious—perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The side dishes were tasty as well, and the pepper sauce was truly the cherry on top. That said, there were a couple of small points for improvement. The pork chops were served without a bone and the meat was unfortunately quite dry, which was a bit disappointing compared to the excellent quality of the steaks. In addition, the service was adequate but fairly minimal; a slightly more welcoming and attentive approach would really elevate the overall experience. All in all, El Paso is a great place for steak lovers with a lovely atmosphere.

We were there a while ago and were very satisfied. I had already booked a table for December 26th, 2025, back in the summer of 2025... only 12 pm was available. Okay, so they were quite early. However, the entire dining room, all the tables, was empty. A shame, as we could have come at 1 pm. The soup starter was unfortunately lukewarm, which was a real pity. We ordered, among other things, two 200g rump steaks. We also paid €4 more per steak than the price listed on the menu. In any case, the two steaks were completely different. I complained about this, but apparently, I also ordered a rump steak. (The waitress came to the table and said, "Here at the table again!"). It was much smaller, flatter, and a completely different color. It was more like a piece of filet mignon. Also disappointing. My husband's steak was also only lukewarm; we had to send it back and have them reheat it. Nevertheless, the steaks were tasty, but the overall experience just wasn't right. My son didn't eat the nuggets; they were also quite dark. What was also really disappointing was the atmosphere. We were looking forward to a festive Christmas atmosphere with nice music. Instead, YMCA and Murder on the Dancefloor kept playing, then the music would cut out completely. We had imagined something different. It's a real shame; it was practically empty, so the food should at least have been served hot. Unfortunately, we probably won't be eating there again. It just wasn't to our liking this time. :(

Grandma (85) saves all year to treat the family – this year there were nine of us. First of all: the quality of all the food was excellent, if only the service had been up to par. Unfortunately, the waitress entered the wrong order, of all people, Grandma's... – these things happen, but apparently it's not an isolated incident, as I've read here. The real shock came after 80 minutes: the bill: "The table is only for 90 minutes!" Keep in mind: the incorrect order already added 20 minutes to our wait... No dessert, and to add insult to injury, the Sambuca was also included in the bill... We subsequently canceled our New Year's Eve reservation – not recommended!

A table of five, three different lamb dishes – it was delicious! For one dish, the side dish and drink only arrived after we asked for them. The service could have been more attentive (and perhaps earned more money as a result), and the chairs could have been a bit more comfortable for us. The garlic sauce was very strong, but we liked it and it came in a separate sauce boat for us to add ourselves; we would have preferred it with the hollandaise sauce over the vegetables.

- ⭐☆☆☆☆ Unfortunately, our visit to this restaurant was very disappointing. There were four of us, and we didn't feel welcome from the start. Although we had ordered earlier, our food was first brought to a group of men who arrived much later. This food sat on their table for at least three minutes before the waitress realized the mix-up. The plates were then simply brought to us – only one plate was replaced, as someone had already eaten from it. This is unacceptable from a hygiene standpoint. The way I was treated as a person with a physical disability was particularly upsetting. I asked the owner at least three times if the restroom was accessible via stairs, as I am unable to climb them. Each time, I received the same answer: "At the train station." Only after repeatedly asking and again mentioning my disability was I finally helped, albeit reluctantly. This treatment was disrespectful and shameful. The way I was treated was especially upsetting. There were further problems with the service: A drink (malt beer) was initially forgotten and later brought, but it looked more like stale beer. When I inquired about it, this was dismissed very rudely. When paying, I asked for a receipt for business purposes. When I simply asked if the receipt was correct, the owner reacted extremely irritably, saying he'd been doing it this way for 35 years and there was no other way to get a receipt. The food was average at best, and while the price was reasonable, the service, the tone of voice, and especially the disrespectful treatment of a disabled person make a return visit impossible for us.

Company Christmas party. Feedback from the entire team. Unfortunately, the staff was very unfriendly. The venue was very crowded, yet there was no pleasant atmosphere. Long wait times. At the food service, staff complained about other guests. The food is not recommended.

Incredibly bad service!!! I have never experienced such an unfriendly and rude waitress in a restaurant as I did here. I used to come here quite often for the good meat, but after today, NEVER AGAIN!!!! The disrespect was beyond belief… I'm truly speechless.

We had reserved a table for 5 pm and arrived at 4:45 pm. Unfortunately, the service that evening was disappointing. It wasn't until about 5:30 pm that anyone inquired about our drinks. The waitress (a woman with long, platinum blonde hair) came to the table without greeting us. As a customer, I politely said, "Good evening," to which she, after a brief hesitation, simply replied, "Good evening, ma'am." Later, she mentioned that she was very busy in the back room—which I can understand, but the service shouldn't suffer as a result. Empty glasses were ignored, and my husband had to go to the bar himself to order drinks. The same behavior was observed at another table with several people. The food was truly delicious and the portions were generous, but the inattentive and unfriendly service unfortunately marred the otherwise positive impression.

We had a two-hour delivery window, which we all agreed to. Then one meal was forgotten and only brought after everyone else had finished. And then to refuse a drink order 25 minutes before the time was up was especially rude! I could have made the frozen food myself for a third of the price. You've lost regular customers!

⭐☆☆☆☆ Used to be great – now disappointing!! We were regulars at El Paso am Treppchen in Oberhausen for a long time. The food used to be truly excellent and the service superb – especially thanks to our regular waiter. Unfortunately, the quality has declined significantly in recent months. Our last visit on October 30, 2025, was a complete disaster: • The steak I ordered medium arrived completely raw. • My girlfriend's baked beef fillet with crab didn't contain a single crab. When we pointed this out, the waitress politely took the plates back. Shortly afterward, however, the owner came and told us in an unfriendly tone that there had indeed been crab on the plate – which was simply not true. My steak then arrived again – this time well-done, but clearly the same piece that I had already cut into. Absolutely unacceptable from a hygiene standpoint. The rice, which was supposed to be part of the dish, wasn't served until about 20 minutes later – and was then half-raw. Neither an apology nor a price reduction was offered. Overall, the food was disappointing, the service was overwhelmed, and the atmosphere was unpleasant. Conclusion: Formerly one of our favorite restaurants – unfortunately, we can no longer recommend it.

There were four of us there today – unfortunately, it was a disappointment from start to finish. My crab dish was hardly worth the money: the crab was tiny and there was only a homeopathic amount. The rice also arrived about 10 minutes later. We ordered the steak "medium," but it was served almost raw. After we complained, they apparently just put it back on the grill – the result was a tough, shoe-like steak. Overall, very disappointing – neither the quality nor the service was satisfactory. It's a shame, we really had higher expectations.

We ate there today. Onion schnitzel with fried potatoes. The fried potatoes weren't crispy, there were no onions in them, and the taste wasn't good. The onions in the schnitzel weren't fried properly either. They used to be much better.

The service was disastrous compared to before: We waited forever for drinks, our food order, and the food. It's a shame, because we used to enjoy eating there. But we won't be eating there again. Even the cheap lunch prices don't help.

After a long time, we ate here at Treppchen again. The current prices were quite shocking. I paid €19.90 for my meatloaf with feta cheese (which was served almost raw). Almost €20 for ground meat (the grilled meat was €1 cheaper). Furthermore, the meatloaf (Balkan steak) had a very firm texture. It was too tough for me. The garlic sauce wasn't seasoned at all. Overall, it was a waste of money today. We won't be visiting this restaurant again anytime soon. What a shame!

Steak surcharge: For just 50g more meat, they charged €9 per person. This is completely unjustified – neither in terms of quality nor quantity. 2. General price level: • A fillet steak with chanterelle mushrooms for €34.50 is already on the high side, but the additional surcharge policy makes it completely excessive. • Even simple desserts like pancakes with jam and chocolate cost €7.90. ⸻ Conclusion: The food tasted okay, but the price is completely excessive, and the calculation is opaque. The surcharge for just 50g of steak is particularly outrageous and borders on rip-off. Rating: 2/5 stars – just about acceptable for the taste, but absolutely poor value for money.

We went there spontaneously and got a table right away – on a Friday evening, which really surprised me given the quality. The ambiance is fantastic, and the staff very friendly. I had the fillet steak medium rare, and it was simply amazing! Perfectly prepared, with a great flavor. I would go back anytime and can absolutely recommend it.

We were at El Paso on Sunday. The parking situation is terrible. The decor is typical of a Croatian restaurant. The service was pleasant, but a bit overwhelmed. I had to ask for a vase several times. The food—sirloin steak in pepper sauce—was good. The prices were reasonable. There's also a lunch menu on Sundays.

We've been there several times. Last night, we celebrated my father's birthday there with eight people. It took 45 minutes for us to get our drinks. The Jellner never even came to our table. After a long wait for the food, one order was wrong, two meals were cold, and two meals arrived half an hour later than the others. The fries were soggy and the food was barely seasoned. We won't be back.

We were here on a Sunday at 12:00 PM and had reserved a table, but it wasn't absolutely necessary since the restaurant was empty. We opted for a grilled asparagus platter for two and were not disappointed. There was plenty of asparagus, potatoes, sauce, and plenty of meat. The service was unobtrusive and friendly, and overall, I would eat here again anytime. A clear recommendation.

The best steak shop in Oberhausen. Before I eat a steak at The ASH, I prefer to come to El Paso. The taste is unique and I have been there many times and never been disappointed. The chefs do a very good job and you can see that in the food. 👍🏼

The El Paso (in the podium) is a good steakhouse with a lot of choice outside of steaks. Here steaks are served in 3 variations of fried. English, Medium or Through. No in-between, you get what you order. It is recommended to reserve a table. Portions are filling and you get a salad with every steak dish, which you can get yourself or have it brought to you if you wish.

Fresh and well-prepared food, friendly staff and the price-performance ratio is also right. Oh, and the schnitzels are, contrary to what some people write here, not frozen goods. You quickly notice this if you simply order a Jägerschnitzel and a Viennese style schnitzel; the former is fried, while the latter is fried to perfection in fat (so that the breading is crispy and airy at the same time). Not possible with frozen goods.

One of the best restaurants. The quantity you offer for the price in 2025 was amazing. The dishes were awesome. The complementary soup and salad already fills your stomach before the main dish comes. Great service I would recommend visiting this place with group of people to eat more 😅

What happened to this restaurant where we used to like to go often?! The service is subpar, you are simply ignored, you wait forever, you don't get any soup or dessert at lunch, only after complaining and with a stupid comment and you have to go to the front on your own to pay and order because you are simply ignored. The boss is totally unfriendly and is condescending and snotty even though his service is a disaster and you waited 45 minutes just for drinks! The staff also changed completely, probably not without reason. It's a real shame because the food is great, but with this level of hospitality we will only go to the competition where you are treated and served much better and the food tastes just as good. At lunch, if it goes on for half an hour, you are ignored as a guest until the time is up and then you have to order from the normal menu. If you then comment, you will be told that the food is no longer available... you simply don't feel welcome here anymore!

Spent the weekend in Oberhausen. Stopped here spontaneously for dinner on a Friday evening. The food was really very tasty. The steaks were well done and very tender. The schnitzel was frozen but tasted good. As has been noted in many reviews, the service was quite cool and could improve. All in all, you can have a good meal here at fair prices.

Didn't reserve a table for 2 people! No greeting from the basement from anyone! Tried our luck. Since there were enough tables available around 6 p.m., we were looked at condescendingly and told we couldn't do that! Ridiculous! As a couple, we will never enter this store again. We enjoyed coming here back then, the team was super friendly and the owner always tried hard, but unfortunately that's no longer the case! Luckily, Oberhausen city center offers other options where the ambience and service are top notch. Never again.

The food there is really very tasty. I would be happy to give it 10 stars because the prices are not too expensive but just perfect. The ambience is also somewhat ok. Unfortunately I have to be honest about the service and I only give it 1 point. Based on what I experienced there with my husband, I can only say that if you are a foreigner, and by that I mean whether you are an Arab or an African, I would not recommend this restaurant. You don't feel comfortable there and we noticed that at the reception. The bartender or waiter went straight to the boss when he saw us come in. You could directly feel the cold and cool atmosphere. He directed us to a very strange place. This one star went to the waiter who was friendly and took care of us straight away We cared. My husband then generously gave him a tip of 5 euros. The boss was much more open and warm with the German customers and regular customers. We also saw this at the reception when German or regular customers came in directly. He laughed with them and went several times to those at the table to ask how the food tasted and whether they were happy with everything. They just walked past us. Sometime after dinner we decided to leave. Even when we said goodbye, the boss didn't even look at us. But as soon as the Germans got up to say goodbye, he grinned with them and told them goodbye and how happy I would be to see them again. My husband and I will definitely not go there again. There will definitely not be a return to this restaurant

Cozy restaurant with good food.

For the reader in a hurry: food very tasty - service poor. For the reader with time, I would like to write something from my heart: Reserved a table for 2 people by phone at lunchtime on Saturday for 6:30 p.m. Slightly cold counterpart on the phone. Arrived on time, our first time in El Paso. Again, a very cold and arrogant reception from the only older waiter of the evening, who led us to the table. Table away, with a bit of a cat table feel. The waiter immediately left instead of taking at least one drink order straight away. Waited 20 minutes then waved at the older waiter to place an order. He waved back friendly and came about 10 minutes later to take the order for drinks, appetizers and main courses. Note: My friend ordered the pepper fillet a size larger, from 200 g to 250 g. While the waiter was taking our order, regular customers appeared behind us, who were warmly greeted by him and received their drinks 5 minutes later. After another 20 minutes, said waiter came to us with two wrong main courses; Fortunately, we noticed that we hadn't had any drinks or appetizers yet and left in surprise. My buddy was hungry, thirsty and nervous. 10 minutes later our starters arrived, another 5 minutes later our drinks finally arrived, one of which was also wrong but was replaced immediately. My buddy was getting a little aggro by now. After about another 30 minutes a younger waiter came with our main courses. We asked him if you had to take the salad yourself, as some guests did, but some also had their salad served to them. He said he would be happy to bring us the salad and we asked him for it. We didn't see the salad again that evening. My buddy stopped talking. We finished eating. Starters and main courses were admittedly very good; Although I was quite surprised that when I asked to swap the baked potato on my steak plate for croquettes, I was only served the "huge" sum of 4 croquettes. We wanted to pay, the younger waiter came with the bill and I noticed the item "Various dishes" for €10.50. I asked him what that was. He went to the counter to the older waiter, came back and explained that it was for my buddy's larger steak. My friend almost finally burst and said that the difference in the steaks according to the menu was only €5 and not €10.50. I told him I was happy to invite him because I just wanted to get out. I asked the waiter why he didn't bring us the salad. He then grinned broadly and shrugged his shoulders. I generously rounded up the bill of €99.80 to €100 and was glad that my friend didn't bite the tablecloth in anger. I give it two overall points because the food was really good and the atmosphere was quite cozy. The service was the biggest disaster of my restaurant experiences. It's a shame about the potential of the house. Neifer, Haus Wessels & Co. can do all of this much better.

Very tasty food, beautiful ambience..

I would like to point out positively that we spontaneously got a table for 4 people for Saturday evening at 7 p.m. Unfortunately the service was extremely poor. We only got our starter soup after over an hour. During this time we received a single drink. The waiters didn't even look at us. When we asked if we could order something else to drink, after a while only half was brought. I asked again where the drink I had ordered was, and the drink was delivered about 15 minutes later without any communication. To eat: I had the club steak 550gr with fries. Unfortunately the quality was anything but good. Between the bones and the edge of the fat, the meat had thick, fatty tendons running through it, so you couldn't cut out a normal piece. Effectively not 150g of edible meat + wobbly tasteless small fries. A second star only because my wife and children's food was okay... but nothing more. As usual, we didn't ask if everything was okay or if we would like something to drink, so we paid straight away and left disappointed. 135 euros for 2 small beers, 4 small cola, 3 starter soups, a Viennese style schnitzel, grill plate, fillet pot with rice and an inedible steak + waiters who don't pay attention to you... 1x and never again. We like to eat out often, but for the money we expect a waiter to smile and pay attention.

So today we were here with 9 people, advance reservation for 2 p.m., actually to eat here. At 2:30 p.m. we received a menu and drinks were taken. At 3pm we still had no drinks. I politely asked whether our drinks were ready or had been forgotten. Statement from waiter. It's gone. Then asked again if the drinks were ready. If not we would leave like this. Answer from the waiter. A shrug. So we left again at 3:15 p.m. with no drinks and no food. I am very disappointed. Even if there is a shortage of staff, I think the situation has been taken care of by the Cellar incorrectly regulated. We've eaten here several times but I've never received such incompetent service. Or not served. For us it is clear that we will no longer visit the restaurant.

We ate there on New Year's Eve (reservations are recommended on such days). My friend had the mixed lamb plate and was absolutely thrilled. I had a fillet steak. Every (!) bite is a perfect treat! I can't remember eating such a perfect piece of meat in years. A poem!!!

There is always room for improvement, hence 4*. We are pleased that the restaurant was so well attended before the Christmas holidays. We have always had the best advice here and are already looking forward to our next visit.

Had our Christmas dinner with our family today. Even though it was very busy we felt immediately welcome. Our food was simply great and the service was very nice. Always happy 😊 thank you very much

What can I say? Food has always been good for 30 years, no complaints, always friendly service and simply cheap prices, but the most important thing is that it keeps tasting like this and thank you very much

Bad service, staff bad and rude!

Price/performance overpriced. Fl. still water €7.80 Food taste, nothing special and very expensive. Service poor. To pay, the guest must go to the checkout and pay. Wrong, more expensive food billed. El Paso, never again.

Cozy restaurant. Food was great. Nice service.
