The Al Carbon restaurant impresses with its elegant and beautiful interior design. The atmosphere is really pleasant. The meat was juicy and perfectly seasoned, and the rolls were fresh and crispy.

We had a very tasty meal. And complaining is at a high level. The tomatoes in the salad could have been cut a little smaller and maybe 15 ml more salad dressing. But these are just small things. Great and perfectly fried meat, very tasty sauce and a spinach that is second to none. Price performance top. I would love to eat at Al Carbon again and again.

All the employees are so great and have so much of my sense of humor. Anyone who doesn't have a stick up their ass will feel very comfortable.

Great service. This was (only) our second time at Al Carbon and we were treated like regular customers. Simply great! And yes, first class food... we had a highly recommended appetizer platter and delicious, great steaks. It was comfortable. We'll be back (soon!).

We had reserved in advance. The tables are very close together, if you're having a conversation the tables next door definitely hear everything 😁 Our waiter was very stressed and nervous, our next table even asked him about it. The beer we ordered was forgotten, as was the mayo for our main course - but they were brought when we asked. The pimientos were ok, but I've definitely eaten much better ones. We both ordered medium-sized beef steak as the main course. Unfortunately the steak was done and inedible, we had to return it. We were immediately served a new one, which this time was really medium and also very tasty! The sweet potato fries were okay, the rosemary potatoes were very good, although the price was quite high. The dishes at our table and at the two tables next to us had some chipped corners (every plate) that might need to be sorted out... Unfortunately, we were no longer asked for drinks, the waiter was so hectic that he didn't respond to us raising his hand or speaking to us. It's a shame we would have liked to drink something more.

We had the seafood platter which was fantastic and a ribeye steak which was okay, it was a bit too rare for medium. Otherwise we were very impressed and will definitely come back.

Found it on Google for a Cirque du Soleil event at the arena. Since it was well-reviewed and only 500 meters from the arena, I reserved a table. I was not disappointed. Steaks and burgers were on point, pasta was exquisite, and the spare ribs practically fell off the bone by gravity. Pleasant, friendly, and fast service. Highly recommended!

The positive reviews lured us to the restaurant. Unfortunately, we were quite disappointed with the food. The prawns in garlic oil are a disgrace. 3 small prawns and 3 cloves of garlic for 16 euros? Are you serious? The meat was almost raw in places, even though it was ordered medium-well, and full of tendons...not good. The atmosphere is quite nice, but too loud. The service was friendly, but they mixed up some orders, and the timing could have been improved. While we were still finishing the appetizer, the main course was already in our faces... And the prices for what was offered: completely exorbitant! Conclusion: More show than substance! I don't need to have it again.

Nice and very cozy atmosphere. Steak was exactly as requested, very tender and tasty. At our table we also ordered chicken burgers, which were also very good. Dessert also recommended. The service was very quick and friendly. A visit here is definitely worth the money.

The restaurant is on the promenade and you can sit there very nicely. All the waiters are extremely attentive and accommodating! The food was ok, but nothing more. My wife's salad was drowning in the sauce and when we were clearing it, a super attentive and courteous waitress noticed it. Without us wanting to, she spoke to the boss and we didn't have to pay for the salad. But we'll be back, don't worry... wherever you plan, chips fall and then owning up to your mistake is great 👍.

My wife and I have been here occasionally, including on dates when we were getting to know each other. We always felt comfortable and really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. So we decided to spend the afternoon here with our guests on March 14, 2025 after our civil wedding. And what can I say, we didn't regret it. We received a very warm welcome and the staff were, as always, very accommodating. The Al Carbon team contributed greatly to making this afternoon an unforgettable one for us. In our opinion the best restaurant on the square or at CentrO. High prices, but mostly absolutely worth it! We eat here a lot at the moment and it's almost always great. The burgers, the bread with homemade aioli, and the lamb fillet skewers are highly recommended! Likewise the grilled salmon. Unfortunately, it wasn't good on our last visit, where it was quite crowded (filled inside and on the covered terrace and outside by the water). The salmon was very burnt on one side from the grill and overall very dry. It's probably been left on the grill for a little too long. My partner didn't like it at all this time. There was no accommodation with the bill afterwards, even though the prices were at the upper end (as was usually the quality of the food). But only on this one occasion out of 10 or more visits in the last 3 months was the food there associated with a weakness. The service is very friendly, but sometimes they don't seem to work as a team. You tell the waitress that you want to pay. After almost 10 minutes, the colleague who is responsible for the table arrives and doesn't know anything yet. As a rule, a few minutes after serving you will be asked if everything is okay. But when it's full, this is often forgotten. You could also ask the guest when ordering the dry aged burgers what level they want (well done, medium, rare,...). The first time it was perfect for us with rare-medium. On all other visits it was rather well-done and a bit too much for us. At the moment, despite these small weaknesses, my absolute favorite restaurant with great food. It would be perfect if the little mistakes could be corrected. Short update 03/2025: They have just switched to rectangular plates for burgers, as are usually used for appetizers/appetizers. Approximately 10cm x 35cm estimated. It's really difficult to eat from them, you hardly have enough space to cut your burger and these plates slip away quickly. We also mentioned this to the waiter after the meal. Next time we'll order the food on normal, large round dinner plates, on these small rectangular ones, that won't work at all. For this, 1 point deduction for eating has now been corrected.

When we arrived for something to eat and drink, a nervous gentleman came to ask us if we wanted to eat and drink, to which I answered yes, then we were taken to a nice table by the water, so far everything went well, when we opened the menu and I went looking for the steak, I was shocked by the excessively high price, namely almost 40 euros for a 250 gram steak, where you would also have to pay another 3 euros for a sauce. So I and my group decided to just have a drink, so when our nervous waiter came to take our order and heard that we only wanted a drink, his nervous behavior turned into indignation, so then he told us that we could have 1 round and then we had to go, we agreed no because we really understand that the beautiful place would be better spent on people who order food and drinks, but now the trouble really starts, so we ordered 2 beers and a coke, which we waited quite a while. we had to wait (a bit strange since she wanted us to leave) then we all got half liters, we thought hey that's cheap since we saw on the menu that you had to pay 3.70 per beer and 3.90 for a coke, but this is the price for one normal beer/coke, these were 7.40 and more each so the bill was much higher than expected, they also asked 2 more questions in between if we didn't want to eat anything and we said "no only drinks" to which the response was quite irritated, we no longer felt wanted, but we had not ordered these half liters, we had ordered normal ones and therefore did not agree with this, so I went in with a receipt and told them that we had not ordered these, to which he responded nonchalantly and said yes, that is normal on the terrace that you had to order large ones, but that is not right at all. I saw several people sitting there with a normal glass of beer or cola, so I also indicated that and then the atmosphere changed and the gentleman became very aggressive and shouted things like "what what, what is the problem" and a super intimidating man also came by, I just paid to prevent further escalation, But people don't eat here overpriced and very aggressive employees!!!!

Food is generally delicious. But at such high prices, performance doesn't match. Service massive timing and coordination problems, vegetables were cold, wine was forgotten, Coke was the wrong size and no Zero, we swapped side dishes, no drinks arrived for half an hour, loud and chaotic atmosphere, guests looked at piles of dirty dishes in the hatch, neighboring tables were also not happy, the main course arrived before the starter

We would be taken very seriously with our wishes. Great boss!

Ordered 1 special burger, 3 medium steaks, 1 was too burnt on one side (was too far over medium) with an unpleasant taste, 2 others were 50% medium and 50% not done at all. Burger meat felt like it had hardly any meat. The biggest disappointment was the steaks

The restaurant is elegant, clean and well stocked. The prices are relatively high. The service was very friendly and quick. There is an area outside where smoking is unfortunately permitted. Perhaps you could kindly point this out to guests despite the ashtrays on the tables. 👎 Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture. But when I order a veal schnitzel for €22, I expect it to be fried with love - and not something that might have just been thrown in the deep fryer. Otherwise everything was good! 👍

Great atmosphere, very attentive and friendly service. The restaurant was filled to capacity - but we were served quickly and easily throughout the evening. Unfortunately, my steak was almost cooked through instead of medium rare. Can't happen in a steakhouse. Feedback was gratefully accepted and an apology was given. So no deduction for me. Burgers and salmon were excellent. I can recommend the crème brûlée for dessert. Parking at the Centro (free).

Overrated store with unfriendly waiter. The food was OK - but nothing more. The "premium" steak that the waiter talked us into was not "premium". We were basically forced to leave the table and settle the bill ourselves so that things would go faster. Mass processing is carried out here at the guests' expense. Overall, very hefty prices - after all, we are here in Oberhausen. We won't be coming back!

Went there with 3 girls for dinner on Carnival Sunday. Service was super nice and accommodating. Here again a big compliment to Tiffany. The food was super delicious and we will be back.

Booked a reservation online, got a table at the counter, Plates, cutlery and used leftover food (e.g. rolls, cookies) fell to the floor. Commands for the order were shouted very loudly. Food was just so-so. No small appetizer, no decoration (lettuce leaf with tomato or anything else). Just meat on the plate, fries in a small bowl, herb butter just in a bowl, no cruet on the table. All in all, just enough.

According to the reviews, I was looking forward to a great roast beef and was unfortunately disappointed: it was a little more than medium rare and unfortunately a bit firm to the bite. I expected a little more for the price. Otherwise it was quite tasty. We are not regular customers of the restaurant and so I didn't think it was appropriate to be called by them. Too bad...

There are many good restaurants in the Centro, but this restaurant is an absolute highlight for any foodie. I have been here many times, always received a warm welcome and always felt very well looked after. If I could give more stars, I would. Absolute recommendation.

super friendly service, but poor technical cooking: US beef very good quality, medium, but was served lukewarm, a request to the kitchen came back with the answer, but then the degree of doneness was gone - very unprofessional. Caesar salad was still floating in the washing water, not shaken dry and the dressing (actually only tasted of anchovy and mayo) was then just poured over it. The chicken pieces provided (photo) were carelessly placed on top and had a curry taste. Sorry, when I go out to eat for just under €80, I expect a little more effort in preparing the food

Food was very good. Service initially too. After the main course we asked for the desert menu. After we received it, it took a long time before anyone came to our table again. When a waitress came she put the bill down. I said I wanted to order another desert. With a deep sigh and an angry look she took the order. The desert was put down (again with an angry look). Nothing more was said. When it was finished, the bill was immediately put down again. We were not asked if we enjoyed it. We will probably come back again, because the food is good, but the service and friendliness could be improved a bit.

Unfortunately my experience at this restaurant was very disappointing. The food tasted bad and didn't meet our expectations in any way. What struck me as particularly negative was that no steak cutlery was provided, even though we asked for it several times. Only after a long wait did an employee come who pointed out that it was difficult to cut steak without cutlery and promised to bring us new cutlery. Our table was also missing salt and pepper, forcing us to ask for it again. The staff was a mixed bag: two employees were very nice and helpful, but the other two had a rather negative impact on the service. Overall it was an unsatisfactory experience that I cannot recommend.

Except for a waiter with a pigtail who was busy outside, the entire service staff stood behind the counter and chatted. We would have liked to have another dessert but were only noticed when my husband went to pay. We've been to you a few times and it's always been very good, but yesterday after we got the main course the service became less and less...we won't be able to get any further for now because there are still shops with motivated service staff...

Very disappointed with the store. We actually found it quite tasty. Ordered a table for 10 people before Christmas. 3 were sick. I gave notice an hour in advance. Thought you were nice. As a thank you, we were placed in the passage with a draft. Afterwards we received the obligatory email telling us how much we liked it. I wrote down my criticism objectively. Then I received a very nice email saying that our entire group was being invited to eliminate the faux pas pas. After making an appointment, I wanted to reserve a table. From the sender of the invitation. However, he hasn't responded since then. Maybe you didn't expect the guests to accept the offer. Therefore it seems very dubious. It’s also a shame for Recklinghausen. We will refrain from leaving our money in the store in the future. Both here and there.

Unfortunately we were 3/4 hour late due to traffic. We were still given a very warm welcome and we still got a table. Food was super delicious! And especially the service was great! Very warm, friendly, even though the store was packed!!! We'll be back!

I booked a table online. That went smoothly. We also got a nice round table, at the edge of the restaurant. The steakhouse later became packed. So we were happy that the basic volume in our little corner wasn't that high. So you could still have a good time. The food was fantastically prepared and almost everything was perfect, except for two shrimps that refused to be peeled. But these were immediately replaced by the attentive waiter. In terms of taste, the food and drinks were very good. Unfortunately, four drinks from the neighboring table also appeared on the bill. But this problem was also solved immediately when we brought it to our attention. We will be happy to come back.

The meat was good Quality, but the extra’s were served cold. The time between first course and second was too short… which explains why the gratin and the pepersaus was cold. They seemed do want us dined very fast (similar to fast food restaurant) The service was poor, no sorry for the cold served food nor for the mistake they have made with the first course (serving wrong dish to one of our party, so he had to wait) … but they did ask if we wanted to pay the exact amount of we add a tip. The audacity 🙈 the atmosphere was a bit too loud for me… but that is an issue of taste. If you like loud music during your dinner, you would like the atmosphere’s.

We recently visited Al Carbon and would like to share our experience. The restaurant was stylishly decorated and the open kitchen created a modern, appealing atmosphere. Unfortunately, there were some aspects that marred our visit. We ordered a steak fillet (medium-rare) and a chicken burger. The menu said that the chicken burger was served with "burger sauce", just like all other burgers are served with "burger sauce"... However, it was neither asked nor indicated what sauce it was. As we ate, we realized that it was a sweet and sour sauce - a choice that didn't suit the chicken burger for us. When we asked the waitress about it, she explained that the name on the menu was intentionally left open to give the chef creative freedom. There was no apology, only an offer to throw the dish away and serve something else. However, in our opinion it would be more important to inform the guest beforehand to avoid such misunderstandings. We see a major problem here, particularly with regard to allergens, as it is not clear which ingredients are actually used. During our stay, we also noticed that the cooks in the open kitchen occasionally ate fries from the serving plate. We found this questionable from a hygiene perspective as this should not happen in a professional restaurant. Unfortunately, the taste of the food didn't impress us, and the customer service also left a lot to be desired, as our concerns weren't really addressed. Despite the beautiful decor, our visit did not meet our expectations and we would not recommend the restaurant based on these experiences. Nevertheless, we would like to see an adjustment to the menu so that there would be less confusion for guests in the future.

We were there for the first time today, although the wait was long but the food was great! My recommendation is the veal spare ribs are tender and soft. Very tasty, with 7 pieces of spare ribs, fries and BBQ sauce.

We were in the restaurant on January 19, 2025. Since we were sitting in the entrance area, we were always exposed to the draft and all 8 people were freezing. It was very unpleasant. That's why only 3 stars

The appetizer platter for 2 people was really good. The burgers are quite good, but unfortunately no special requests are taken into account. The spare ribs were tasty but too expensive for my taste. You get the table for 2 hours, you only see that when you confirm. It was packed and therefore loud.
