El Gringo in Aurich

For me, El Gringo is the best restaurant in Aurich. We've been eating there for over 10 years, and the service is super attentive, friendly, and the food arrives promptly. Picking up has always been great, too; the food is packaged very carefully, and we've never had anything wrong. The atmosphere in the restaurant is naturally more comfortable, and we really enjoy going there :-)

The food is of good quality, everyone can come and enjoy it.

Unfortunately, we were very disappointed: the burritos and enchilladas were filled with lots of leeks, zucchini, and onions. There was no taste of any spices. There was very little meat. We're used to Mexican cuisine differently! We won't be back.

Overall, our meal was very tasty, except that the chicken fillet was very dry. It wouldn't have been possible without the sour cream from the baked potato that I ate with it. We could have returned it, but I don't like that. Otherwise, the other dishes were highly recommended.

I highly recommend this restaurant; the food is always delicious, and even if you don't like it as spicy as I do, you'll always find something. The service is also very attentive and always asks if everything is okay. The sauce was too spicy for me once, and the waiter noticed and asked. I told him it was too spicy, and cheers! He said no problem, we'll make a different sauce. I don't know if it was the chef or me who made a mistake, but it tasted really good with the new sauce.

Super delicious food. We went to the buffet and thought there would be very few containers, but we were totally surprised. Each container contained at least three or four different types of meat or side dishes, great dips and salads, a delicious soup, and amazing homemade bread. They also had a variety of desserts to choose from. Top-notch food at great prices. The staff was very nice, attentive, and very friendly. We'd be happy to come back.

The best steaks in Aurich can be found here! The staff is very attentive and friendly, and there are no long waits. The food is excellent, always delicious and fresh. The prices are all perfectly reasonable. Of course, a large fillet steak with an appetizer will set you back a bit more than other options.

Stopped in here by chance today while on vacation. Without a reservation, we were able to get a table for four. Despite being busy, the service was fast, attentive, and always friendly. Generous portions, and all the dishes we ordered were delicious and freshly prepared. Reasonable value for money for both the food and drinks. Highly recommended.

We ate here for the second time on March 28th, 2025. Like the last time over a year ago, it was really very tasty. This restaurant is definitely in our top 3 in Aurich, tastier and better ambience than in Nuevo!

It takes a while to get your food, but otherwise very good

In any case, you should have a big appetite and an even bigger stomach. The food tastes so good that it would be a shame to let it go to waste. Two small suggestions for the kitchen: rethink the guacomole recipe and salad dressing. Otherwise really great and would be happy again.

Were there on Saturday. The ambience is very tasteful, the service is very nice and friendly. I ordered scampi with vegetables. At €26 I would have liked more scampis. Vegetables were plentiful.

I was at El Gringo with four colleagues at the beginning/mid of December for a small Christmas party. The quality, taste and presentation of all five dishes was absolutely great. Even though the restaurant was full, everything went smoothly with short waiting times. In any case, the price-performance ratio is more than decent. What I personally didn't like was that the noise level was very high and the tables were very close together. I also found the constant running of other guests to the buffet annoying. Therefore only four stars.

The space on the street is very quiet and pleasant. The large room can be a bit noisy with many guests. It's always nice outside in summer too. The buffet is always worth a visit, ideally to try half the menu. Since the restaurant is always very full, it is always necessary to make a reservation. Ordering and picking up is also possible.

The El Gringo restaurant is always worth a visit! The food is always excellent – ​​fresh, authentic and tastes of the highest level. A great place to enjoy Mexican food in a relaxed atmosphere. I highly recommend El Gringo!

Best Mexican in Aurich and the surrounding area probably since 2002, but at least since 2009. We are regular visitors - the spare ribs are simply magical. The Mexican fire soup is also highly recommended. Köstritzer on tap - a pleasure! Otherwise Fajita Cubana, extremely tasty! What's better than the food? The staff! It's always been excellent so far, but today we were probably unlucky. The salads: well, the fillet steak was excellent, the rump steak had far too much smoky flavor, the quality was just short of very tough, the baked potato was exquisite, the fries as a side dish could be counted individually. We have been coming to the restaurant for over 10 years and you can always say delicious food, nice staff and great ambience...but last time was a new positive experience...due to a stomach reduction I can no longer eat much and I told the staff the situation explained...after a short consultation with the boss I was allowed to eat the "all you can eat buffet" at the children's price...we thought that was really great and will come back👍👍👍 keep it up...

In addition to the unfortunately very poor parking spaces, the restaurant offers friendly service and a varied menu. If you go to a Mexican restaurant, you shouldn't be surprised if 9 out of 10 dishes are spicy, but there are also dishes without spice, as well as a selection for children. The prices are average, requests are taken into account and implemented and the food tastes excellent. The starters also offer an interesting selection. On sunny days you can also sit outside on a large terrace, which speaks for itself. However, I have to say that it looks a bit like the early 2000s, where everyone had yellow wallpaper in the kitchen. The bar area is very dark and the dining rooms on either side lack a cozy feel. Mexican decoration can be found everywhere, but unfortunately it looks boring and old and there are too many artificial palm trees. My personal tip would be subtle with some typical warm color accents and warm indirect lighting. Mexicans are passionate, musical and, like their dishes, “fiery”. If you could find these words in the ambience, then it would be perfect!! 4.5 / 5 stars 😊
