Attention: Menu prices are not current! Prices are now very high, even for being close to the border with Switzerland. Also important: there is a free drink when you submit a Google review, which distorts the reviews. I have no idea how people spend €20-30 on food, drinks and dessert. The prices should be at least €40. I had Nachos De Pollo (around €23) and nachos were only a handful.. my friends' cocktails, however, were highly praised. We only come here for cocktails

El Gallo in Weil am Rhein is simply great! The apple rings as a dessert are amazing – crispy, tender and super delicious. A real highlight that I can recommend to everyone. A cozy atmosphere and friendly service round off the visit perfectly. I'd love to come back!

Food has way too much oil and unfortunately it's not that good. There is better and cheaper. Swiss price ratio for bad food and minimalist service. Not recommended... €3.30 for 3 additional fajitas NEVER AGAIN! Yes, I told you several times that the food wasn't good because it had too much oil. Your statement that this is the case in Mexico is not true. But whatever, do your thing and charge even higher prices. Restaurants like this won't last long. Better to go to the hacienda in Weil am Rhein - half as expensive and twice better... And of course I eat everything, I come from a good family and ultimately paid for it... Greetings and good luck

I was there for the first time today and I have to say it was super tasty. The staff is very friendly and provides top service. The food was very tasty and you could immediately taste the quality! I can only recommend it

we went there multiple times. We had some better experiences and some worse ones. I recently zoned in on the "Burrito al pollo", which I tried during a lunch deal and I was very happy with the flavor. Next visit I ordered it again and it was again very flavorful - cubes of chicken in amix of vegetables, strong seasoning. Last visit I ordered it again. Instead of the usual the chicken was "desmechada" (pulled), not bad by itself, but instead of the flavorful vegetables mix the burrito was filled with a creamy bean paste. The flavor was completely different (and not so much to my personal liking, but that's not the point). There shouldn't be big differences in how the same dish is prepared by two different cooks. I left very unhappy that day as my expectations got totally ruined. The "el Gallo burger", btw, is really bad, keep away from that. Then rather McD. most dishes come with a nice salad and good flavor, though.

Reviewing again until the restaurants takes accountability of their wrongdoing. Was there for a birthday party. Apparently I lost my jacket (phone inside) in the stairs (since I had to walk up 5 flights of stairs with a baby and a stroller because the lift was not working). Restaurant tells me that visitors of the shopping center found it. The next part is what I want the restaurant to take accountability. The jacket was ‘stored’ in a PRIVATE - Employees only room. When I noticed my jacket missing, I talked to the staff of the restaurant, to the manager and basically everyone that would listen. At no point did anyone say: someone found a jacket and I put it in the back. Not a single soul. I searched with my apple watch for one hour. Then another staff member that had arrived recently tells me to go to the back and he opens it with his keys and there was my jacket either my phone. How was I suppose to find my jacket and my phone in a closed space, that I had never been and didn’t know of its existence. In my world, when you find something, you give it to the lost and found (we were there looking for my phone). When you find something, you do not put in the back, forget completely that its there and are not helpful when searching. The staff and the manager didn’t care that I had lost my things. But when I found them, THEN, they took the time to talk to me and say they will review the cameras. By then, I had been in distress for one hour and it was a bit too late to care.

I was here for a baby birthday party. To my impression, the manager was very under prepared for such an event. I arrived close to 13h for lunch and got served my food at close to 16h. Food was nothing special. Some of the potatoes for my burger were still raw and the burger was nothing special. At the end of the event, my wife noticed she had lost her jacket and her iphone in the restaurant. We notified the manager, employees and pretty much everyone in the room. The manager didn't seem to care that much and was more worried about serving other guests. We then continued for another hour searching the restaurant. Using the tracking function of apple, we were 100% sure the phone was in the restaurant. We notified the manager again and he didn't seem to care again. A worker happened to start his shift and my wife asked him about the jacket and phone. He then suggested to look in the private bathroom of the restaurant, a place my wife was never there and only employees go. To my wife's surprise, the jacket and phone were on a table, inside the employees changing room. When confronted, the manager finally listened and cared about my wife's jacket and phone. Having a small baby, and already being so late we just had to leave. The manager said he would check the cameras to see if any evidence could be found. I would avoid this place. The manager didn't really seem to care, did not prepare properly for a baby party keeping parents waiting for far too long. On top of that, the indifference of the staff and manager to a missing item. Update: the manager since then has reviewed the cameras and said the jacket was found by a guest visiting the shopping center, not the restaurant. The manager claims the restaurant has nothing to do with the missing item. How could this be possible? Why would a guest of the shopping center deliver the jacket to a restaurant not the info Centre of the shopping center? And if the jacket was delivered to the restaurant, why did none of the workers know about the missing jacket since we were asking them for an hour? Why was a missing item placed on the private, changing place of employees of the restaurant? I would avoid this place at all costs

The service was really very friendly and the atmosphere was also very nice. Unfortunately, the food only came after more than an hour and wasn't good at all. All the dishes tasted basically the same (starter nachos, then tacos and fajitas, all made from the same base). The price was also way too expensive for what it was. Never go there again.

Meine Freundin und ich waren im El Gallo zu ihrem Geburtstag essen. Und wir müssen sagen: Es war fabelhaft! Wir waren erst unsicher als wir einige negative Bewertungen gelsen haben, ob sich der Besuch lohnen würde. Jedoch waren die Zweifel völlig unbegründet. Das Essen war super und auch die Preise waren fair. Das Ambiente hat uns sehr gefallen und besonders die Terrasse, die wir dank gutem Wetter benutzen konnten. Wir werden auf jeden Fall wieder kommen und freuen uns schon auf das nächste Mal! :)

Update: October 17, 2024. Unfortunately the quality has become very poor. The food doesn't taste good at all. Cocktails (non-alcoholic) were just rubbish and I paid 50 euros for this rubbish. Really a shame. But the staff is still super nice. My rating back then: Unfortunately I couldn't find any vegan options! The menu only has vegetarian options. So you have to look at how you could veganize a vegetarian meal. Non-alcoholic cocktails are delicious. Our visit was on a weekday evening and the food arrived within 15 minutes.

I love this restaurant! It's a shame there aren't more customers, because they deserve to have them! The atmosphere is friendly, the service is fast and the dishes are generous!

Were eating there for the first time. At first glance, the ambience seemed inviting. We chose a window seat so we could observe the surroundings. The windows were dirty inside and out. Food was only slightly warmed or completely overheated. My Chilli ConCarne was totally acidic and barely edible. Waiter was informed about this. The only answer we received was "I can't judge because I've never tried these before, but he'll pass it on to the chef." We paid the full price for an almost untouched plate. To top it all off, my wife and I were given free stomach cramps the following day. Conclusion: It was our first and last time there and we don't recommend it.

We were there on Thursday afternoon. Nicely located and well laid out restaurant. The noise level is also pleasant. We were taken straight to a table and our drinks and food were taken. Hefty prices!! Just under €80 for two lunches… and there was probably also a free hair from the chef to add to the sauce… Unfortunately, this is a point for me to stop going there

We had dinner at El Gallo last week in the afternoon. We paid just under 30 euros for 2 meals and one fries + 2 drinks. There is a “happy hour” until 5 p.m., which I would recommend to everyone. The food was very good! The food was well seasoned, the portion was appropriate, the food was warm when served, and the taste was good. The service could still be improved, a smile, a little more attention wouldn't be bad, as there was only one table left besides ours.

The service was good, the food and cocktails were ok. The evening after the restaurant visit was a little longer.

As a starter we had calamari (frozen is not recommended) and fries with ali oli, if you know this dip you know that it is made with garlic, we get a sour cream sauce with herbs with the fries. When we asked the waiter he acted like he had the best idea and made fun of us. Next we ordered nachos with chicken and beef, also not recommended, they tasted burnt. Afterwards we ordered tacos with beef, but unfortunately they were too salty. Lastly, if you order still water, you get tap water with a slice of lemon. The service wasn't particularly good, even though there were only three tables on a Friday evening, the waiter was unfriendly and uninterested.

It was our first time here. The staff were welcoming and friendly. They have a cool and big terrace; it must be good to have some drinks here at night. The food was good but too salty! I read about the “extra salt” in another review when I was checking the place out but thought that some people have low tolerance for salt. Well, please tell the chef to put less salt while cooking! The portions were big. We tried Chimichangas de pollo and Pechugas Poblanas. I was also surprised by the Nachos price: 18.5€!! Why?! First time I see such pricing! The margaritas had barely any alcohol in them. Let’s us know when you do amends as we would like to visit again.

Sad: the food is actually very good, except for too much salt. The service was subpar. The salad was neither (well) washed nor prepared. And a customer's salad simply shouldn't have so many brown spots. Once and NEVER again.

You have to carry the child seat to the table yourself. Under no circumstances should you expect Mexican cuisine, the food comes quickly (too quickly, was it cooked?), the vegetables are inedible (brown lettuce, shriveled cucumber), the beans are much too salty and more in the style of baked beans, definitely not Mexican, “cocina mexicana” doesn’t make much sense. If you think “comida mexicana” it doesn’t matter because it really has nothing in common with Mexican cuisine.

We were there for the first time yesterday. There was little going on. We were immediately greeted in a friendly manner and sat on the terrace because of our dog. The cocktails were very tasty and the Mexican platter was very varied. The waiter was very attentive and offered me a blanket when I got cold. All in all a nice visit and the sunset on the terrace was also beautiful.

Disappointed, price performance doesn't match. Too much lemon and the meat was ten. I gave almost all of the food back. And I paid the full price, that has nothing to do with fajitas, peppers, tomatoes and meat pieces were much too big, the tortillas were in a simple basket, half covered with a napkin, not warm, that should be served in a different way, that's it Keep tortilla warm in a tortilla warmer.

Food was okay, although the fajitas de camerones could be tastier overall. Service was good, we were served quickly and the food also came very quickly. It's a shame that the terrace's potential is not fully exploited. The terrace seems very cold and not at all inviting. A few more plants, table decorations and perhaps light chains would give the whole thing more charm and encourage customers to come back. What I can't understand: why do the prices in Weil am Rhein differ from the prices in Freiburg?

Die Cocktails waren sehr lecker und üppig. Auch die Aussicht über das Dreiländereck vom hinteren Teil der terasse aus ist fantastisch. Allerdings ist es schade, dass hier die Terrasse so vernachlässigt wirkt. Ein paar Palmen und Sonnenschirme, und alles würde viel attraktiver wirken. Die Pflanzen in den großen Kübeln sind bereits zum größten Teil vertrocknet, aber das ist wohl eher die Schuld der Dreiländergalerie. Wie das bei Thymian und Lavendel überhaupt zu schaffen ist, ist uns ein Rätsel....

We were invited to a birthday dinner. We had never been to “Ali” before. The hosts in question repeatedly told us about their culinary delights. We were even more excited to see what awaited us. I have to and can only say that my above-mentioned rating is fine, at the ESC you would say: Turkey 12 points!!!! From the ambience, from the set table, to the attentive and discreet waiters, to the tasty and superbly prepared food, everything was top notch!!!! It was really fun to be a guest there!!!! Many other guests next to us had the same opinion, as the terrace and the restaurant were very busy on this Saturday evening. To the landlord and his teams in the kitchen and service: keep your standards, even if it's not always easy, I know what I'm talking about, I've been a happy chef myself for 44 years. We have eaten at El Gallo several times and it was always an experience. The service is very attentive - no long waiting times for drinks. The food was always perfect - highly recommended the mixed Mex. Plate. The ambience puts the finishing touch to the positive stay. We would be happy to come back.

The vibes are fine. The food is garbage. It is NOT mexican, not even close. It is a pale imitation of mexican food, like they tried to reproduce it using nothing but photos from the internet. For example the pico de gallo had parsley instead of cilantro. The enchiladas had no sauce, just melted cheese on top. None of it tasted good, or sat well in our stomachs. Service was fine though, and drinks were good.

I'm disappointed: I can eat a bite in 50 minutes even though 4 tables are occupied, but I ordered a special burger and the burger bread was ferbrent. I have to give it back but I got a new burger 🍔. OK.

Unfortunately, my beef ribs were tough and left quarter eaten. The colleague saw me messing around beforehand and brought a steak knife. Ultimately it's no use because the meat should fall off the bone. A pity. Since half the plate was returned, I would have expected a request or accommodation in some form. We were there spontaneously for the first time. We really liked the atmosphere, which is why we had high expectations. Unfortunately the food wasn't to our liking. The nachos consisted of 20% nachos and 80% cheese - far too much - which also made the nachos bland and bland. The chicken for the tortillas was barely seasoned. The Bloody Mary, which I also ordered - because I was happy that it was offered - didn't live up to expectations either. It was so spicy that you burned your mouth and you couldn't taste the tomato anymore. But what was worse in terms of taste was that it was mixed with Maggi. A real bloody simply needs Worchestshire sauce and not Maggi. Maggi has a nutty aroma which is great in salads but not in the drink... or was it a mixed salad that I ordered? A photo attached shows what else was in the Bloody Mary - which in my opinion doesn't belong there either. The tomato is debatable =) but please don't let lettuce or cucumbers etc... and don't fill it to the brim so that something falls over when served and the guest has to clean the table (himself).

El Gallo is a fantastic Mexican restaurant that stands out for its rooftop terrace and tasteful decor. The service is excellent and the food is absolutely first class. Prices are moderate, which makes the experience even more enjoyable. A special highlight is "Ritmo Caliente", which takes place every Sunday from 6:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. This restaurant is definitely an insider tip and worth a visit.

We went to the restaurant and I have to say the service was terrible. Just whether you understand German. I have rarely felt so ripped off, a small example: churros dessert for 10.20 euros, marked on the menu with chocolate and caramel sauce, but only got one sauce; when we complained about it we were told it was "or". And the boss rudely told us that we should read better... I'll leave it to you to look at this menu... Also, you should know that you get four mini churros from the freezer, which are too fried and inedible. We were there once... But never again.

We were there in a larger group, had reserved in advance and were able to order quickly. The mocktails are really great, perfectly coordinated with the individual components depending on the drink! The food was also very well seasoned and was served hot. Definitely tastes great! The presentation is also a highlight for the eyes. Unfortunately, the service side had difficulties carrying out the orders correctly, so the food we wanted to take with us was thrown away and then the wrong order was given to go. The waiter was also quite unfriendly and rude. We had the feeling of being unwanted rather than actually being welcomed in a friendly manner. Otherwise, El Gallo is good for larger groups, good food and drinks. A little more expensive but still within the range.

Disappointed all around. 1. The menu was no longer up to date, happy hour was no longer there at the time. 2. Value for money, if the food is even acceptable, was incredibly poor. 22€ for a gratinated Aldi wheat flatbread with a bit of ready-made salad. 3. Waited 55 minutes for food and then we were disappointed and a meal was forgotten. 4. Buddy had a “burger” that wasn’t even worth €4. We let it go back. Avoid the restaurant.

Service was okay but little things weren't taken care of. I can't say whether it was the kitchen or the service. We ordered meat fajitas. My sister-in-law and brother-in-law also ordered buriitas We ate torttilas in the end Location top we really expected more um I often ate Mexican food but unfortunately I have to say it was my worst experience and my husband pregnant sister-in-law think so too. Unfortunately it will never be a shame again...

The restaurant with this price point needs to have a rest room! Not to send people out in the shopping center! The food was totally un appetizing! And Looks like random stuff on the plates! Loud music and bad organization of the guests siting made it so loud that I was looking around and no one was smiling, it's restaurant not a club

The food consisted of convenience products that I get at the supermarket next door. Spices were completely omitted. The Argentinian beef burrito tasted like it was frozen and baked. Even the peppers came from the pickle jar. I'm still wondering what that dollop of sour cream is doing on the plate. It had nothing to do with Mexican specialty. Even my Turkish pizza delivery guy can do it better. Far too expensive for the quality... To use the toilet, you have to go one floor down to the public toilet in the gallery, which you have to pay for separately. Although there appear to be toilets in the restaurant, they just aren't open.

My absolute recommendation A piece of Mexico in the middle of the city! This restaurant impressed me from the start. The food was simply delicious, with authentic Mexican flavors that made my taste buds dance. The selection of cocktails was equally impressive and perfectly paired with the dishes. The ambience was inviting and cozy, with a relaxed atmosphere that made you want to linger. The service was friendly, attentive and knew the dishes very well. All in all, a fantastic experience that I would recommend to anyone looking for a real piece of Mexico.

Personally, I imagined more of a Mexican atmosphere and no traditional music either. Service was friendly. Card payment possible and barrier-free as there is an elevator to the 3rd floor.

Unfortunately I cannot share a positive experience as my visit to El Gallo was marred by problems. The food disappointed me and my companion as we both suffered from food poisoning the next day. This caused significant discomfort and inconvenience. Additionally, service was mediocre as a simple request for lemon for our coke was met with an eye roll which made us feel uncomfortable. Given this negative experience, I unfortunately cannot recommend El Gallo.

"mexikanisches" Restaurant im neuen Shopping Center. Innen ok, Terasse mit Blickauf Frankreichund Basel muss wohl im Sommer interessant sein. Grosse Cocktailkarte, leider sehr teuer. Speisekarte mit vielen mexikanischen Namen, das Meiste mit Kaese ueberbacken. Fajitas waren ok, habe bei Taco Bell schon schlechtere gehabt. Bedienung neutral. Einige Burger im Angebot. Muss nicht nochmal sein.

We ate at El Gallo today and were extremely disappointed. The first setback was that the happy hour posted online was no longer valid. Happy hour was the only reason we went. Afterwards, after drinks service, we waited 1.5 hours for the main course. There was no apology or snack. The food was extremely disappointing in terms of price-performance ratio. Small portions on large plates half covered with a lettuce leaf. The fries were cold and soggy. Here too there was no apology or compensation. A very disappointing visit for which we actually had high expectations.

We went to this restaurant for the first time and had lunch there. Starter: A handful of scampis in garlic oil for 17!!! EUR (excluding bread). The fact that you could/should have ordered it for an additional 3 EUR was kept from us. Main course: Standard flatbreads (unfortunately there is no other way to describe it) from the convenience store (the bag was torn open by myself) Pans of grilled scampi - unpeeled! So after laboriously unpacking the scampi, the rest of the food was cold and your fingers were dirty and sticky. There wasn't even a cleaning cloth during or after the meal. The 3 sauces offered were all served in the same bowl and mixed together to form a paste. All in all, we were served hot, ready-made products with the absolute cheapest cost of goods at a completely exorbitant price. But this lunch had absolutely nothing to do with Mexican food and I feel sorry for all Mexicans whose food culture is trampled on like it was in this "restaurant".

It looked promising at first. We got a table without a reservation. We specifically ordered Cola Zero because the menu said it came in a glass bottle. This was not the case. Already the first disappointment. But we looked past that. It then took about 15 minutes for our food order to be taken. The starter was corn soup. We also ordered bread and aioli. The aiolo just tastes very artificial. A pity! The corn soup was ok. It lacked taste. The gap between the two meals was actually good. The beef fajitas were a letdown. It was a very strange combination. Mushrooms, onions, peppers and huge pieces of raw tomatoes just didn't fit together. The beef was the only good thing about the dish. Everything was arranged very carelessly. The staff doesn't work at all. Very uncomfortable as two women as you are literally stared at the whole time. We'll never come back and don't recommend it.

Nicht zu empfehlen! Wortkarge Bedienung. Die Nacho-Chips ertrinken in Käse. Das lauwarme Hauptgericht war nicht mal ansatzweise mexikanisch, selbst der Salat auf einem Dönerteller ist besser. Warum versucht man hier auf Zwang mexikanisch zu kochen, wenn man davon keine Ahnung hat? Die Preise sind deshalb eine ziemliche Zumutung. Alles in allem sehr mittelmäßiges Essen, das man zuhause besser hinbekommt. Komisch, dass es im Freiburger Lokal besser zu laufen scheint.

The main course tasted good for everyone. However, the waiting time between the starter and the main course was far too long... we waited about 45 minutes even though only 4 tables were occupied. The waiters were very friendly.

The reservation was for the cat because they had no free tables left and we had to wait for free tables first. Now we're sitting here and have been waiting for service for over 30 minutes. The restaurant smells of burnt food and the service staff doesn't know how to organize themselves. It's pure chaos!!! Never again for us!

This was our second time here following a friend's recommendation. We enjoyed everything very much. Mexican dishes - nachos with cheese - very tasty! Beef steak well cooked, juicy meat! The service is good, dishes are delivered quickly and dirty dishes are quickly put away. We recommend this restaurant!

We were there on a Sunday as a family with children. The staff was very nice and the food was very good. The children's menu was very generous. Prices very good for the food. High chairs available as well as a cloakroom. 1 star less because parking spaces in the shopping are overpriced. Toilet in shopping is very far away from restaurant. When I had to go to the toilet and back again, my food was already cold. Own toilets would be great!
