I went there recently expecting authentic Mexican food and given the prices of everything, I thought I was at the right place. Long story short, I didn’t even end up buying food because the “salsa” tasted like ketchup and the chips were the cheap kind you get at the store. Also, despite the fact that it was not all that full, it took a long time for us to get our drinks or be served. It’s hard to believe that a place that advertises Mexican food can’t even have home made salsa.

Nice restaurant with an even nicer location. The outdoor area is unbeatable on nice days. Service was friendly and there was nothing to complain about. Unfortunately the food was too expensive for what you got. Not great value for money in my opinion. I had the tacos pollo. The rice was very dry with sometimes still very hard pieces of rice. The meat was edible and so were the flour tortillas. The tomato sauce, on the other hand, seemed a bit bad and the cheese on top didn't make it much better. Maybe I was just unlucky that afternoon. Card payment possible. Central location. In summary: you can do it. Especially in the beautiful outdoor area you can come here and order something to drink. But if you expect top Mexican cuisine, you'll probably like it here. don't get their money's worth.

Mexican restaurant with a beautiful balcony terrace facing the Neckar. Even if there is a summer rain, you can sit and dine wonderfully thanks to the roof. Good drink, generous portions and friendly staff.

Do yourself a favour and spend your money elsewhere. I was first given the wrong order which was okay, they got my actual order out about 15 minutes. The rice was half hard and cold and half fine, I guess they mixed whatever they had left over with fresh rice. The service was meh, they were hanging out at the bar for the most part even though we were a big table of more than 10 people and maybe one of three tables there. We all had empty drinks for about half an hour until someone came over but not to refill our drinks, just to ask if the food was okay. Also, there’s nothing really Mexican about this place but the name. I just can’t wrap my head around the price of the dishes and the quality of the service and actual tastiness of the food. Go next door to Neckarmüller or walk a bit to the Chinese restaurant.

I like the meal to be good when I go to a restaurant, and this was not the case. The dishes are greasy and dry at the same time. You need vegetables and sauce in the preparations, otherwise it is too difficult and unpleasant to eat. Side salads with red beans and corn also lack vegetables. It's summer, buy some vegetables! It's cheap ! The server is very nice. The terrace is beautiful and pleasant.

Unfortunately I can't understand the low rating! Service, food, park situation and our table were great. We were told that it was unlikely to get a seat outside, but after waiting 2 minutes one was available straight away. The only flaw was that the gentleman on the phone when reserving said: getting a table outside would be like getting front row Elton John tickets. Still everything was great, delicious food and great cocktails!

Das Essen an sich war lecker. Die Portionen relativ groß und der Service sehr gut. Die ist top, sehr zentral und direkt am Fluss mit super Blick. Das wird allerdings bezahlt mit Preise pro Teller bei ca 16,5 Euro. Gibt schon schlimmeres, wir waren zufrieden.

We ate in the restaurant on May 30th (around 5/6 p.m.) with a group of 8 people. When all my friends had gotten their food, I was asked by the waiter what I had ordered. It turned out that my dish (Fajitas de Ternera) was no longer available. I was offered an alternative fajitas with chicken, which came about 10 minutes later (my friends were already eating). I took a few bites and immediately felt bad. I had the rest packed up and tried again the next evening - I felt sick again. A friend who also ate the leftover also had digestive problems. I suspect that the quick preparation may have led to errors. The entire service, including the checkout process, was very slow and took a long time. I didn't give a tip. I will never eat here again.

Nice view from the balcony. Service tried hard. Unfortunately, according to South Americans, there is NOTHING authentic about the food. None of the dishes came close. The women haven't had enough either. The nachos are tortilla chips from a bag with a salty, otherwise tasteless Bolognese sauce. The salsa is just a slightly spicy tomato sauce (original sound). The salad had brown spots. The cocktails for almost 10 euros were incredibly sweet and barely edible until all the ice had melted. I had to pour tap water into my drink. The prices are absolutely outrageous for the quality in question. There is absolutely nothing Latin American here. Absolutely not recommended.

Had dinner here with my daughter. The food is just typical of what the store is about. Nothing particularly out of the ordinary but still good and tasty. Cocktails are very tasty. In general we were very happy with everything. So you can definitely recommend the store.

Speaking as a Texican, I did not have high expectations for a Tex-Mex resteraunt in Germany, BUT... We really enjoyed the atmosphere, the drinks, the view and the price. Our server was working alone when we first arrived, but another waitress showed up later so he was able to be more attentive. The food was mid, but everyrhing else evened it up. This place is the ultimate for people watching. It didnt hurt that the weather was phenominal and everyone was out having fun.

Sadly for so much money it was very modest. I ate a burito with beef, you had to look for the meat. The service should be better trained because it doesn't meet the standards in a restaurant, mine definitely didn't. My friend ordered chicken wings, totally burned, complained, got new ones with fewer chicken wings than before. Waited an hour for the food. My other buddy ordered citizen which was cold. I worked in a four star restaurant myself Was my last visit there

The location on the Neckar is quite nice. The tables were only partially clean, in my case the cutlery that was handed out was encrusted with food residue. The service staff was goodwill and ok. But what is very worrying is that the hygiene rules (HACCP) are only apparently being followed. With the same black gloves, which he wears when preparing the food, the employee takes out the garbage, handles the opening/closing gate and the garbage cans. That doesn't work.

Watch out! My friend and I, both bartenders, ordered margaritas thinking “of course - it’s a Mexican restaurant, with margarita written on the window”. We were served the unfrozen sugar lime juice from the slushy machine!! The servers were very nice, and gave us real margaritas when we sent them back. But damn… food was also extremely basic. Sorry to say. 🍋

The ambience is nice with the view of the Neckar, but the price-performance ratio is still not right! Way too overpriced for what you get. Food totally unseasonable, rice tastes like nothing, not even salt, just like the sour cream. Zero taste. Drinks only taste like water. Way too overpriced for that! About the service: If you wanted something, you got it, but you got annoyed and strange looks... you generally don't feel very comfortable there. Packing costs extra. (It would be okay if the rest were correct but oh well) I wouldn't go there again.

We have eaten here twice and have always been satisfied. There was also a large vegetarian selection for us.

If you want to order a table there by phone, they simply hang up on you. The next time you try, you get the answering machine, which informs you that the restaurant doesn't open until 5 p.m. (today is Sunday, by the way, and is therefore open all day long) and that if you want to make a reservation, you should do so by email. The "El Chico" in Tübingen is a typical Mexican restaurant, but with a special ambience thanks to the wide window front facing the Neckar. The restaurant is on the first floor of a brewery. The food is always good and cheap, but we have had different experiences with the service. Sometimes more trying than professional.

Great location by the Neckar with outdoor seating as well. Service is good. The portions are huge - I ordered nachos and fajita which could honestly feed two people. Guacamole and salsa were good but the cheese was bland and artificial looking. Their beverage menu is huge and their cocktails/mocktails are pretty good.

Staff unfriendly. If the restaurant is empty, the waiting time is 1 hour. After several questions about how long it took, the waiter went in another direction. Not recommend

Wir (26, 24) waren gestern Abend im El Chico. Wir kamen gegen 18:40 Uhr an, da war es noch relativ leer. Es hat alleine schon fast 30 Minuten gedauert, bis man uns überhaupt eine Karte gebracht hat. Bis wir dann erneut bedient wurden, hatten wir bereits Essen und Trinken ausgesucht. Beides wurde dann wirklich schnell serviert, meine Freundin hatte einen Burrito, ich hatte einen Burger mit Pommes als Beilage. Ich hatte bei meinem Getränk nach einem Strohhalm gefragt, gebracht wurde dieser mir leider nicht und der Kellner, welcher ihn bringen wollte, hat unseren Tisch dann auch nicht mehr bedient, sondern eine andere Kellnerin. Meine Pommes hätten tatsächlich noch ein paar Minuten mehr in der Fritteuse vertragen, sie waren innen lätschig und allgemein auch nicht wirklich knusprig. Der Burger war gut, der Burrito ebenfalls. Als es dann darum ging, dass wir zahlen wollten, weil wir noch anderweitig verplant waren, wurden wir ebenfalls eine halbe Stunde nicht beachtet. Nachdem wir dann persönlich zu den Kellnern hin sind, durften wir endlich zahlen. Als die Kellnerin zu uns kam und uns fragte, ob wir bar oder mit Karte zahlen wollen, haben wir beide gesagt, wir würden gerne mit Karte zahlen. Die Kellnerin hat genervt die Augen verdreht (was uns beide sehr schockiert hat), dann verschwand sie kurz und holte das Kartenlesegerät. Ich muss ehrlich sagen, gestern Abend war das erste Mal in meinem Leben, dass ich kein Trinkgeld gegeben habe. Noch während wir am Aufstehen und Jacke anziehen waren, hat sie angefangen den Tisch abzuräumen. Absolut unhöflich. Meine Freundin konnte ihren Burrito nur halb essen, wollte die andere Hälfte eigentlich mitnehmen, aber da sich gestern alles so gezogen hat und wir auch viel zu spät waren, fiel das weg. Keine Ahnung, was da gestern das Problem war, aber nochmal werden wir nicht ins El Chico, auch wenn die Lage und die Inneneinrichtung sehr schön ist.

Sehr gutes und preiswertes essen! Auch die Cocktails für 5,50€ sind sehr lecker und mit genügend Alkohol! Persönliche Empfehlung: Cocktail Bomb (unten rechts auf der Karte). Ist relativ stark und schmeckt dennoch süß/säuerlich. Waren hier während unserem 1 wöchigen Aufenthalt sogsr zwei mal.

Mit Freunden zu Silvester. Essen ganz schlimm, Salat mit braunen Rändern und vergoren. Hauptgericht muffig. Kann ja nicht anders sein, da das Essen gefühlt keine 5 Minuten nach der Bestellung auf dem Tisch stand. Den einen Stern gibt für die freundliche Bedienung.

Leckeres mexikanisches Essen. Die Portionen sind sehr groß und auch hungrige Sportler > 1.90 m werden satt.

Ladenbesitzer war wohl noch nie in Mexiko, lässt Mexikaner für sich arbeiten um überteuertes und schlechtes Essen nach mexikanischer Art zu machen. Die Lage am Neckar ist echt schön, vor allem am Balkon und das Personal ist echt freundlich. Cocktails kamen schnell und waren gut. Zum abhängen und was trinken ja, aber bitte nix zum Essen holen. Es wird nichts gewürzt und absolut 0 Schärfe. Die Quesadillas sind eine Parodie von echten Quesadillas. Burritos sind das liebloseste Essen aller Zeiten.

Auf der Suche nach einem authentischen mexikanisch-texanischem Restaurant in Tübingen sind wir auf dieses Lokal gestoßen. Innen erwartete uns ein schönes Ambiente, gedimmtes Licht, zuvorkommende Bedienung. Doch das Essen hat uns leider maßlos enttäuscht.. es schmeckt und wirkt wie aufgewärmte Fertigprodukte. (Weizentortillas - die ausm Supermarkt, haha jeder kennt die Sour Cream - saure Sahne ausm Supermarkt ohne Kräuter und fertig verarbeitete Tomaten für die leider nicht so gelungene "Salsa", Pastel de Natas waren auch aus dem Handel) Geschmacklich eine Teilkatastrophe! Dazu kommt das die Preise zu hoch sind für die Qualität die man bekommt. An sich kein schlechtes Essen, aber für größtenteils unauthentische Lebensmittel, die ich im Supermarkt kaufen kann gehe ich nicht ins Restaurant :)

Der „mexikanische“ Reis zu den Tacos war einfach nur gekochter trockener Reis, ohne Gewürze oder ähnliches total geschmacklos

Pas super authentique, mais ça va quand même. Il manqur un peu de fait maison. La quantité est très généreuse.

Hier habe ich schon so oft meine Mittagspause verbracht, dass ich es gar nicht mehr zählen kann. Allerdings ist das schon ein paar Jährchen her und daher war ich gestern mal wieder dort. Die Qualität scheint etwas gelitten zu haben und obwohl nicht viele Leute im Lokal waren, wurde mein bestellter Cocktail falsch gemixt. Wir haben nur eine Kleinigkeit gegessen, weshalb ich bei Gelegenheit nochmal den Mittagstisch probieren würde.

An sich eine tolle Lage, das Essen und die Cocktails waren auch gut. Der Zustand der Toiletten aber so, dass ich nicht wieder kommen würde. Wir kamen zu viert und mussten eine Stunde auf das Essen warten. Ein absolutes NoGo von uns vieren bekam ein Kind 10 Minuten vorher. An einem Tisch mit 15 Personen okay, aber bei 4 Personen, jeder eine Hauptspeise müssen alle gleichzeitig ihr Essen bekommen. Sehr schade. Die Bedienung war super freundlich, bot uns als wir zahlen wollten sogar noch einen kostenlosen Nachtisch an, da wollten wir dann aber einfach endlich gehen.

Sind gerade als Familie mit 5 Personen abgewiesen worden, mit dem Argument, dass trotz sehr vieler freie Tische wir nicht bedient werden können, da wir nicht reserviert hätten, was wir 2 Stunden vorher, versucht haben.Der Kommentar war einfach vorbeikommen..... Außerdem ist das Personal schon sehr Müde.. Ich finde, das geht gar nicht!!! Wegen Reichtum keine Gäste Mehr annehmen???!!

Wir hatten einen Burrito und eine chicken enchilada. Beides war sehr lecker und ist weiterzuempfehlen. Der Ausblick auf der Terrasse ist fantastisch.

Der pulled pork burrito bestand leider zu 80% aus Reis und Bohnen. Das pulled pork könnte auch etwas weniger trocken sein. Vorsicht: Die Preise auf den Speisekarten Fotos haben sich inzwischen verändert!

Von mir 5 Sterne. El Chico ist ein mexikanisch inspiriertes Restaurant. Das Restaurant ist bekannt für seine mexikanische. Auf der Getränkekarte gibt es einen unglaublich leckeren Cocktail ohne Alkohol «Coconut Kiss». Cocktails sind wirklich perfekt. Die Lage am Wasser ist auch toll, wenn man einen Platz auf der Terrasse bekommt, man hat eine schöne Aussicht über den Neckar. Sensationell gerade bei Nacht. Bedienung freundlich. Wirklich sehr zu empfehlen.

Das Essen ist Hervorragend. Sehr lecker auch nicht arg teuer. Man sitzt sehr schön, nach Wahl drinnen oder draußen, allerdings ist es ein wenig laut. Der Blick auf den neckar ist sensationell gerade bei Nacht. In größeren Gruppen sollte man definitiv reservieren (ab 5 personen) da man es je nach Uhrzeit schwer haben könnte einen Platz zu bekommen. Der Service war sehr freundlich allerdings habe ich die Erfahrung gemacht, je nachdem wo man sitzt wird man hier besser oder schlechter wahrgenommen wofür die Kellner nichts können, was allerdings sehr nervig sein können. Insgesamt ist der Platz zwischen den Tischen auch sehr eng.

Das Restaurant hat eine gute Lage mit einem schönen Ausblick über den Neckar. Bei gutem Wetter sind die Türen komplett geöffnet, wodurch sich eine schöne Atmosphäre ergibt. Der Service war Aufmerksam und zügig, aber nicht besonders herausstechend. Also eher Durchschnitt. Das große Manko war das Essen. Die Speisekarte verspricht alles, was ich bei einem mexikanischen Restaurant erwarte. Die Qualität war aber nicht etwas schlechter als mittelmäßig. Ich hatte die Tacos con Carne und die waren sehr lieblos angerichtet und auch geschmacklich sehr laff. Dafür waren sie mit 14,50 € aber sehr teuer. Hier würde ich definitiv nichts mehr essen. Def Preis ist nicht das Problem, aber die Qualität. Vo. Mir also keine Punkte.

Service: Zwei Kristallweizen mit Zitrone bestellt, kam ohne. An der Bar konnte man beobachten wie das Bier mit einem Strohhalm umgerührt wurde um eine Schaumkrone zu erzeugen. Saßen im unmittelbaren Einzugsbereich der Bedienung. Die Getränke waren zur Vorspeise leer. Wurde trotz frequentiertes vorbeigehen der Bedienungen nicht von selbst erkannt. Hauptspeise mit Getränk wäre schon cool gewesen. Schade. Freundlich sind alle gewesen. Essen: Liebe in den Gerichten sucht man vergebens. Sorry aber hat überhaupt nicht geschmeckt. Wer auf Glutamat steht ist hier genau richtig. Ambiente: Ganz nett nur die Toiletten sind absolut unter aller Kanone.

Ein grottenschlechter Mexikaner! Und viel zu teuer! Dem Ambiente fehlt der Mexiko Flair und das Essen sind billigste Zutaten. Der Burrito war total fahd- Tortilla zu trocken, Fleisch zu trocken, Reis geschmackslos, Bohnen aus der Dose, Tomatensauce aus der Dose und billiger Reibekäse. Die Sourcream war eine Schande denn es hat absolut nichts mit Sourcream zu tun, sondern war einfach normaler Joghurt. Mein alkoholfreir Cocktail kam ohne Deko, nicht mal eine Scheibe Obst. Für den Preis den sie verlangen einfach viel zu überteuert. Der Service schlecht. Wir saßen lange bis jemand überhaupt kam. Bei Nachfragen nach Saucen wurden uns die erst gebracht als wir schon fertig waren mit Essen. Das Geld kann man sich sparen!

not sure if today was a bad day to come. service was not the greatest (server nowhere to be found - had to get up and ask the bartender for another drink and to request the bill). food was very average. ordered the “enchilada con crema de queso”, meat was dry, flavor was bland, not what i was expecting for an enchilada. HOWEVER, the frozen margaritas were tasty. overall, the staff was very nice..huge selection for drinks.

Man wirbt mit Urlaub in México aber insgesamt ist das Essen doch sehr mediocre und die Portionsgrößen schwäbisch sparsam.

Das Essen hatte mit mexikanischer Küche leider nichts zu tun. Lieblos angerichtet und kaum gewürzt. Besonders von den Quesadillas ist abzuraten, falls ein Besuch dieses Restaurants unvermeidlich ist. Dazu preislich überdurchschnittlich. Bedienung freundlich und man hat eine schöne Aussicht über den Neckar.

We chose this restaurant because we wanted a view of the river and were very happy with the food and service. I had the quesadilla ensenada and my husband had the crunchy chicken. We both enjoyed it. Our server was very friendly. The view is excellent.

Ich hätte so gerne mal wieder eine gute Bewertung geschrieben, da ich natürlich gerne gut essen gehe. Leider ist dieses Ort ich nenne es absichtlich nicht Restaurant unzumutbar. In einem Restaurant fühlt man sich Willkommen. Einfach gut Essen Trinken freundlich und respektvoll miteinander umgehen. Es schmerzt mich diese tolle Lage im schönem Tübingen mit so einer Zumutung zu vergeuden. Es hat mit gutem Essen und Mexiko nix gemeinsam. Selbst mein bestellter Kaffee dort war ungeniessbar.
