El Chico in Tübingen

It was really tasty and the service and staff were very friendly, we really liked the atmosphere and the atmosphere was great :)

The enchilada grande, burrito and the fajitas were a good portion. Not the best we had but ok. Even if the place was empty (apart from us and 2 more tables) the staff wasn't really paying attention to us. Due to the few options you have in tubingen it is a restaurant to consider.

Upon entry my girlfriend and I were not greeted or seated by anyone. We stood around for 5-10 mins and finally asked if we could sit. We did. It took around 30 mins to order and when we did the food came out incorrect. We then just asked for the food to go. After waiting another 45 mins for just the box we were met with no apology or empathy from our waitress. She just told us the amount owed and wished us a happy weekend…. While thanks for the wishful weekend a simple sorry for the service due to lack of staffing or my simple forgetfulness would have been nice. To top this off we were given our “to-go” bag for free!!! Thanks El Chico. :/

Top service, super nice and fast! Food was flawless and just as you would imagine Mexican. The ambience is pleasant and very inviting and cozy El chico can only be recommended.

Super cool place, nicely decorated, great location. However, the food was not very convincing in terms of price-performance ratio. Main course very tasty, the churros weren't that good. Very friendly staff. Spicy dishes are not marked.

I noticed the shop and decided to enjoy my dinner there. The ambience is very nice and is authentically accompanied by the excellent music. The mocktail was very tasty and delivered what was promised. The burrito wasn't bad either, but I don't have a good comparison yet. I definitely got very full and overall it was a nice experience. The service staff were also nice and attentive. If I lived nearby I might go there more often.

The furnishings were really great, the food was okay too, but we sat there for ages without drinks, it also took a long time to clear away the place, and the staff didn't seem interested in making money.

They were out of guacamole, not sure how that’s possible at a Mexican restaurant. Our food was just OK.

The "El Chico" in Tübingen is a typical Mexican restaurant, but with a special ambience thanks to the wide window front facing the Neckar. The restaurant is on the first floor of a brewery. The food is always good and cheap, but we have had different experiences with the service. Sometimes more trying than professional (I expect clean glasses), but at least always friendly.

Particularly recommended: - Homemade lemonade and iced tea (not too sweet) - Anything with jackfruit (my first time having that... very tasty) - The best guacamole I've ever had

Being completely ignored by the waitress - but serving drinks etc. to others who came much later - I found it strange at the beginning. When I tried to talk to one of the waitresses and she just walked past us, we immediately got up and left the restaurant. There were really few guests there, so it wasn't that... definitely one less restaurant that I will visit and recommend in my hometown. 👍🏻

I had a mojito, a bit strong for my taste, but after the ice melted a bit, quite good again. For dinner I had the taco salad con queso, it tasted good, a decent portion, nothing to complain about.

Rarely have I experienced such rude service. We arrived and had to point out to the waiter that the table was dirty and there were stickies everywhere. Even after he “cleaned” it, it was still dirty. There was obviously a shift change during the stay, but things didn't get better - on the contrary, they got worse. We had to ask for our drink several times (there were maybe three or four tables occupied), and people at the neighboring table even asked loudly whether anyone was working there. POW: the group of four then left the location. After repeated questions and a subsequent discussion with the young woman from the service, we finally received the drink including an inappropriate comment. Back at the bar we heard her loudly gossiping about us (I assume in Croatian, I also understood some of the words). This is absolutely not possible! A simple “I’ll take care of it right away” or something else would have been enough. Instead you were insulted. Keep your eyes open when choosing a career - or instead of the operator when selecting personnel. The food, however, was okay, there was nothing to complain about. There were displays on the tables saying that they would show their appreciation if there was a recession in exchange for an espresso or something similar. I thought it was a bad joke - but it was probably meant seriously. One thing is for sure - it was the last time I was there. The restaurant expects money for its services. But this should also be provided in return... Anyone who visits the restaurant should therefore be really sure whether they are in the right place or whether they would rather go to Reutlingen or Stuttgart, for example.

Wir hatten keine Reservierung, wir haben einen Platz innerhalb des Restaurants zugewiesen bekommen (gleich mit der Option, sobald was frei wird, dürft Ihr in Richtung Balkon/Neckarblick aufrücken, was keine 10 min. später erfolgt ist) und dann einen schönen Abend mit sehr nettem, höflichen Personal und gutem Essen genossen. Jederzeit gerne wieder - da kann sich das Lokal darunter mehr als nur eine Scheibe davon abschneiden!

I went there recently expecting authentic Mexican food and given the prices of everything, I thought I was at the right place. Long story short, I didn’t even end up buying food because the “salsa” tasted like ketchup and the chips were the cheap kind you get at the store. Also, despite the fact that it was not all that full, it took a long time for us to get our drinks or be served. It’s hard to believe that a place that advertises Mexican food can’t even have home made salsa.

Nice restaurant with an even nicer location. The outdoor area is unbeatable on nice days. Service was friendly and there was nothing to complain about. Unfortunately the food was too expensive for what you got. Not great value for money in my opinion. I had the tacos pollo. The rice was very dry with sometimes still very hard pieces of rice. The meat was edible and so were the flour tortillas. The tomato sauce, on the other hand, seemed a bit bad and the cheese on top didn't make it much better. Maybe I was just unlucky that afternoon. Card payment possible. Central location. In summary: you can do it. Especially in the beautiful outdoor area you can come here and order something to drink. But if you expect top Mexican cuisine, you'll probably like it here. don't get their money's worth.

Hello! Should always be given: there are only drinks available, with a maximum of 20 guests - 2 waiters are enough so that you don't have to wait 10 minutes for the drinks menu and then again to order.

Mexican restaurant with a beautiful balcony terrace facing the Neckar. Even if there is a summer rain, you can sit and dine wonderfully thanks to the roof. Good drink, generous portions and friendly staff.

Do yourself a favour and spend your money elsewhere. I was first given the wrong order which was okay, they got my actual order out about 15 minutes. The rice was half hard and cold and half fine, I guess they mixed whatever they had left over with fresh rice. The service was meh, they were hanging out at the bar for the most part even though we were a big table of more than 10 people and maybe one of three tables there. We all had empty drinks for about half an hour until someone came over but not to refill our drinks, just to ask if the food was okay. Also, there’s nothing really Mexican about this place but the name. I just can’t wrap my head around the price of the dishes and the quality of the service and actual tastiness of the food. Go next door to Neckarmüller or walk a bit to the Chinese restaurant.

I like the meal to be good when I go to a restaurant, and this was not the case. The dishes are greasy and dry at the same time. You need vegetables and sauce in the preparations, otherwise it is too difficult and unpleasant to eat. Side salads with red beans and corn also lack vegetables. It's summer, buy some vegetables! It's cheap ! The server is very nice. The terrace is beautiful and pleasant.

Unfortunately I can't understand the low rating! Service, food, park situation and our table were great. We were told that it was unlikely to get a seat outside, but after waiting 2 minutes one was available straight away. The only flaw was that the gentleman on the phone when reserving said: getting a table outside would be like getting front row Elton John tickets. Still everything was great, delicious food and great cocktails!
