Really delicious food, always quick, fair prices!

Delicious Mexican food. Super nice service. Price performance okay. We got there pretty early on a Tuesday evening and got a table that was reserved for a little later. It's better to call in advance, otherwise it will be difficult.

A really worthwhile restaurant. The food was great, the service was great and the price/performance ratio was also good. It was deservedly well attended, which is why it's worth making a reservation.

Food is great but what is with the four to five tortilla chips? It’s insulting as a side and too odd to be a garnish.

Top location and an absolute insider tip for fans of Mexican food. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, prices are reasonable, and the food was truly delicious. One tiny downside: it took a while, which was a bit annoying for the people at the table who didn't have an appetizer, and the food came one after the other. Otherwise, it's really good and worth a visit!

The service was quick and friendly. In my opinion, the menu has a somewhat “alternative” feel. It definitely fits the spirit of the times, but not quite my personal taste. Example: Lemonade with hardly any sugar. Certainly healthy, but the taste is rather poor. Sizzling Fajita very vegetable-heavy. Certainly healthy, I would have preferred a little more chicken and more seasoning. Side note: I only eat Mexican food occasionally, but I know 2-3 other Mexican restaurants for comparison. Conclusion: solid shop, nothing essential to complain about, but only meets my personal taste to a limited extent.

El Burro is always a good choice! I've been here several times, even with larger groups, and it's been good every time. The food is delicious and offers something for every taste—whether meat or vegetarian. The service is good; due to high demand, it can sometimes take a little longer, but the wait is definitely worth it. The short language course completes the package. I'm always happy to come back!

We had a great evening at this wonderful Mexican restaurant! As soon as we entered we were warmly welcomed and quickly shown to our table. The ambience is very inviting – stylish, cozy and designed with great attention to detail. The menu offers a great selection of authentic Mexican dishes, from classic tacos to sophisticated specialties. The quality of the ingredients was excellent - everything fresh, tasteful and perfectly prepared. We were particularly impressed by the attentive service: the staff was extremely friendly, quick and always on hand without seeming intrusive. Here you can really enjoy a sociable evening, be it with friends or family. We'll definitely be back! Absolutely recommended for anyone looking for good Mexican cuisine in Mainz.

The food is really delicious and reasonably priced. Not overpriced. The food is prepared with care, and the service is fast, friendly, and good. When it's really busy, the restaurant gets a bit louder and more crowded, but I think that's normal.

Maybe the best Mexican food I ever had. Quasedillas, Chimichangas, Tacos, Chilli con Carne, Burritos, Nachos, Churros, all excelent. Dips amazing. Drink selection also superb. Recommend to all.

We have been here several times and have never been disappointed. There is a lot to choose from, everything is delicious. We personally recommend Los Tacos with various fillings. The lemonades are also very tasty.

I am Mexican and am now studying near Mainz. Everything was really authentic! The horchata is highly recommended. The tortillas from los Tacos were perfect, like in Mexico. The service was very quick, a very friendly atmosphere, and the food arrived very quickly. It was full, so you have to reserve online!

Closest we can get to real Mexican food in the area. Quality food good serving portions GF items. Polite staff. And they speak English.

By far the best shop for Mexican cuisine in Mainz

The food here is quite good, but relatively expensive. It's good that allergens are taken into account here. Some dishes are labeled as gluten-free, others can be prepared this way if desired. I have celiac disease and ate the tacos sin carne and tolerated them well. I found it a shame that it wasn't noted when ordering that gluten-free was important, even though I had asked twice for this information to be passed on to the kitchen, as you also have to look out for traces of celiac disease. When asked again, the kitchen kindly paid attention and prepared the tacos with gloves.

Everywhere in Mainz had fantastic ethnic food, and El Burro was no exception. Highest quality and great service even on a Carnival night. Highly recommend 👌 Atmosphere was a bit pretentious, but that's just preference 🤷‍♂️

Was there for the first time today and found it very good in terms of food selection, prices, taste and service. The portions can be a bit larger, but that's complaining at a high level. We'll be back!

We spontaneously stopped by there during carnival. It was very tasty and the service was very nice and could also recommend cocktails.

Great ambience and really nice decoration inspired by Mexico. The staff is friendly and nice. I find the toilet funny, where there are always Spanish courses or something similar. Definitely entertaining and likeable. The food also tasted great and was worth the price. I ordered nachos and had difficulty eating everything by myself because there was so much 😂

The price/performance ratio doesn't fit at all. The portions are small, the taste is okay, but only lukewarm. Also far too expensive. Finding meat with a magnifying glass. The drinks are also too expensive. The best thing was the cake, which we treated ourselves to because we were still hungry

Service was very nice, but took far too long. Ambience was good. I ordered a burrito, taco and sweet potatoes. The potatoes were very tasty but the tacos and burrito were not recommended at all. No taste and no real spices on it, at least it fills you up. I wouldn't order the tacos and burrito again, unfortunately disappointed

Since my girlfriend and I have been living in Mainz, we have probably not visited any other restaurant as often as El Burro. While my girlfriend was completely obsessed with Los Taccos, I have now tried almost every dish and found everything to be delicious! As a special icing on the cake, there is the best beer here (Waldhaus), which completely surprised me. I found the Pilsner in the House of a Thousand Beers. When I wanted to buy a whole case there, the seller refused me because he only ever gets a few bottles of it. So thank you again for bringing the beer to Mainz!!

El Burro Mainz Wir waren in Mainz bei einem anderen Mexikaner. Wir gehen sonst zum Lindo. Es War ok. Essen war gut. Das Bier war super gut. Service war wirklich sehr gut. Freundlich und nett. Habe auch gut Trinkgeld gegeben. Aber. Burrito war ok. Die fjitas waren nicht so toll. Ich war etwas enttäuscht als alter México Lindo Kunde. Fajitas müssen heiß sein. Der Topf muss glühen. Ich komme nicht noch mal ins Burro. Geschmacklich nicht mein Fall. Ich brauche es scharf und würzig. Im Burro alles sehr fad. Sorry Hruss Martin.

El Burro Mainz We stayed with another Mexican in Mainz. Otherwise we'll go to Lindo. It was ok. Food was good. The beer was super good. Service was really very good. Friendly and nice. I also tipped well. But. Burrito was ok. The fjitas weren't that great. I was a little disappointed as an old México Lindo customer. Fajitas have to be hot. The pot must glow. I won't come to Burro again. Not my cup of tea in terms of taste. I need it hot and spicy. Everything in the burro was very bland. Sorry, Mrs. Martin.

The food is really good and the sauces are really amazing. Especially the chipotle chili sauce. Unfortunately the portions are a bit small for the price. The ambience is very nice and the menu is entirely in Spanish. The toilets also have an audio playing with various Spanish words and phrases and what they mean. That makes the whole thing really authentic. The service is extremely friendly and you feel very comfortable.

Lemonades & cocktails unfortunately very tasteless for the price. Food was fresh and was ready super quickly. But I didn't think it was good value for money. I usually get full quickly but after a bowl as my main course I was still hungry. Otherwise, our request for space was taken into account and the staff was pleasant. As I said, the abundance of food and drinks didn't convince me.

We came here with a lot of time on our hands and wanted to have a leisurely Mexican meal because we had discovered the restaurant online, which is considered an insider tip. Unfortunately it took quite a while before we were served - that's forgivable, after all the place was pretty full. Both the delicious appetizer and the drinks came quickly. Unfortunately, we had to wait at least half an hour, maybe even 40 minutes, until the food was on the table after we asked again. The taste was generally good, but on the one hand the food was no longer quite warm, and on the other hand we had to rush to eat due to the particularly long waiting time. Our conclusion: Basically not a bad restaurant, but plan on plenty of time as there are excessive waiting times!

Mexicans definitely wouldn't eat here! I ate fajitas with steak meat. Steak meat was good, but everything around it was very bland (by that I don't mean lack of spiciness). The fajita flatbreads were "doughy" and low quality. The red wine was drinkable but also tasteless. Category 4€/bottle in the supermarket. In summary: the meat was good, the decor was pleasant but everything else was nothing. Unfortunately not nearly worth the price.

Habe Fajitas mit Steakfleisch gegessen. Steakfleisch gut, aber alles drumherum sehr fade (damit meine ich nicht Mangel an Schärfe). Die Fajita Fladen waren "teigig" und von niedriger Qualität. Der Rotwein war trinkbar aber auch ohne Geschmack. Kategorie 4€/Flasche im Supermarkt. Zusammenfassend: das Fleisch war gut, die Einrichtung angenehm aber alles andere war nichts. Den Preis leider nicht annähernd wert.

I recently visited this Mexican restaurant hoping to indulge in some authentic tacos. However, the experience was incredibly disappointing. The tacos served here had nothing to do with the vibrant, flavorful tacos you’d find in Mexico. Instead, they felt like a bland, European interpretation tailored to local tastes—what I would call “white tacos". The tortillas were lifeless, lacking the freshness and texture of authentic corn tortillas. The fillings were uninspired, with no sign of the bold spices, savory meats, or fresh salsas that make Mexican tacos so irresistible. To my surprise (and dismay), the tacos were filled with chili con carne. For anyone familiar with Mexican cuisine, this is almost blasphemous. Chili con carne is not a traditional Mexican taco filling—it’s a Tex-Mex dish, and it has no place in a taco if authenticity is what you’re aiming for. This choice alone demonstrated a lack of respect for real Mexican culinary traditions. Adding insult to injury, there was no lime or salsa served alongside the tacos. Lime and fresh salsa are essential components of a proper taco experience, providing the acidity and brightness needed to complement the flavors. Without them, the tacos felt dry, lifeless, and entirely incomplete. What was served here wasn’t just a bad taco—it was a bad Tex-Mex attempt, disguised as Mexican cuisine. If you’ve ever had real tacos in Mexico, you’ll immediately recognize the difference. This was clearly a dish catered to European tastes, stripped of all its authenticity and character. Unless you’re content with eating bland “white tacos” with chili con carne, I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant. For a true taco experience, you’ll have to look elsewhere—or better yet, head to Mexico!

Definitely recommended! The food was very good and the service was also impeccable. The three of us were there spontaneously in the evening after a business appointment and didn't have to wait five minutes for a seat. However, it makes sense to make a reservation in advance, as this restaurant is always busy. The choice of food is varied and everyone should find something tasty here.

We've eaten there a hundred times, with children, without children, with grandparents or friends. One of our favorite restaurants next to the Stadtbalkon and the Burger Heart. The drinks are also very fresh, tasty and the cocktails are beautiful to look at. We used to also often pick up food for home, but for the past two or three years it has been so difficult to drive from Laubenheim into the city and stop there briefly to load up the food that we no longer do it.

Nothing works here without a reservation. But once you have a place, almost everything is right here. The food has been fresh and delicious every time. It's probably not the authentic Mexican experience but for a nice evening with family or friends it's great. The service is extremely good. Very friendly and cheerful staff. Everything is ok, overall a good restaurant that never disappoints.

Find El Burro, a good restaurant to spend a nice evening with friends. The staff is friendly and accommodating. I wouldn't recommend it for a date as it is quite loud in the restaurant. In summer you can sit comfortably outside in a traffic-calmed area.

Had dinner today with 4 adults and 3 small children and it was more relaxed than it has been for a long time. You are warmly welcomed and there is space for strollers (if not, space will be made). Children's chairs were already available and you really don't have to worry about there being too few of them. Not a single employee seemed annoyed despite the full booth. Children's meals are available and can be served in advance upon request. The food in general is really prepared with love, portioned sufficiently and tastes simply fabulous. Great praise for thinking about families here - hardly anyone else can keep up. Thanks to the entire team! We'll be back very soon 🫶🏼

First of all: the food is varied and delicious. Unfortunately, some of the staff are unprofessional and address you as "you" without asking. This may seem cool to young people, but in my opinion it is rather unprofessional. The drinks are noticeably expensive.

Quick service, rather good food. Crowded at dinner, we arrived at the not-so-german time of 8pm for dinner and we could find a table.
